Guys,
Is there a comparison site anywhere that allows you to look at screenshots of roms for the Artemis and compares what components and features they have at all...
... have only just got my UK orbit, and since there's no official Uk WM6 available i want to play before i start putting data on there...
Paul
The only roms available for the UK supplied Orbit are Tom's Black & Blue V2 (V3 expected soon) and Bepe's german edition WM6 converted to WM6 as far as I'm aware. B&B is the standard WM6 with a load of extra's, at the moment its definately the best one to go for as far as I'm aware.
Remember before attempting to flash any roms you need to run USPL first (don't want to patronise in case you were aware but its better to mention now to save a lot of your time later)
Also... The only site to look at rom's really is on here realistically. No comparison sit I'm aware of since they're all unofficial builds and new ones are being worked on and released all the time (depending upon the device obviously)
Hi,
As per the post below on O2 I thought I would drop T-Mobile an email.
Here is the reply
"Good afternoon.
Thank you for your email.
We had thought about providing an upgrade to WM6 for our devices, however we have decided against this. It was decided that our phones ran well with WM5 and to concentrate our resources on releasing our new MDA Touch and, in time, MDA Vario III with WM6.
Kind regards.
Paul Byrne
T-Mobile"
I am have been monitoring the various WM6 roms on this site but I was holding off on updating my MDAC3 to see if T-Mobile would update it. Seems like that ain't going to happen.
Bugger, may have to take the plunge with one of the ROMs on here.
Regards
take a plunge mate, use the uspl tool and then upgrade, its easy if you follow instructions,
thats T-mobile for you though, they dont look after there customers properly. shoddy i say. its not like they have to pay for it. they could even just get hold of the original htc copy and put there code on it for there branded device. ndont take much...
im using the new rom with the htc touchflo included, and its bloody awesome.
ive been running a few WM6 roms without any problems on my MDACIII.
Ive been running the 3.5 rom recently which is great and as we speak im upgrading to 3.7.
Please Delete.
not a scooby but its a higher version and im a sucker for the latest and greatest.
Please Delete.
Would I have to unlock my MDACIII if I am to also upgrade the ROM to WM6 of which is available here?
No, but you'll need to download and run the USPL first.
HY Guys.I HAVED ASKED THE:
hi.First of all sorry for my bad english since I
am an spanish user.My problem is that I do not understand why HTC wont release a wm6 for the P3600 since this device doesen? work verry well whit the actual released version of wm5.For all the oder new version of pda? HTC
have relesed an wm6 but not for P3600.I am a little mad sice this device
is not verry cheap you know and I can not enjoy of wm6.Thank you
WELL THEY ANSWER ME:
Hello Sir,
I understand, but apparently their decision has been taken, they
confirmed it to us (at the support centre) last week.
I'm forwarding your request and disappointment now.
Thank you for your enquiry, Should you have any other problem, please
do not hesitate to call us. Your Local number can be found at
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/csbyphone.html
SO WHAT DOES THIS MEEN NO OFFICIAL WM6 FOR THE P3600?
Would be kinda weird. I have a Herald, and that's a phone with a bit lesser functionality, apart from the hardware keyboard. The P3600 deserves a WM6 update just as much as the other current-generation HTC phones.
YEP
Yes This Is What I Have Told Them And They Answer Me That Thig.so It Seems That Will Have To Use This Great Versions Of Wm6 That We Have Here In Xda Developars
I´m sure HTC complains about this website, but thank to our rom cooks my wifi works because with their flipping wm5 it never did and their support didn´t know what to do.
To tell you the truth...who cares if they don´t release a wm6 version, because if they do it,the new release would like the ones released by Dopod, same green and ****ty dialpad, windows messenger and apps that most of us can careless.
Well dta1974 you are write ho needs their wm6 rom when here we have the best for the Trinity.

TomTom is installable on WM6 and Traffic info works with for example .mUn. 2.1 TE (which is also WM6).
Since DOPOD is releasing the official ROMs it became a mess for TomTom. First with the .17 version (and cooked ROMs based on that version like
INDIGO Lite) which changed the DEVICE ID and now with the .18 version it doesn't work at all.
It's TomTom which doesn't support WM6 (yet), WM6 from HTC doesn't make a difference.
Although I agree with the general population of pissed off HTC customers, I can't say I share the same opinion about cooked ROMs. Most cooked ROMs won't be as stable as an official ROM -- with horror stories about users having to follow procedures to avoid battery life, wifi, gps and other problems.
I do admit HTC ROMs will probably include software which most of us don't need but if I ever install a cooked WM6 ROM, it'll be only if it's a cab-cut-down version based on an official Trinity WM6 ROM.
What's worse is if this injustice weren't enough, they go ahead and release a WM6 version of the P3600 with slightly better specs. Sales seem to be more important than keeping a happy customer base.
there is also the warranty problem.
if i install the cooked ROM and i have any problem with my device and i mean any -even a hardware one like non working speaker- im sure that the HTC service center will make my life hard...

I have found that to be true. The Official Dopod ROM is more stable than the cooked ROM's I've tried.
most of cooked rom are based from the original dopod... so all of them are good... HTC maybe will not release an official upgrade but their ROM will not better of official Dopod... and it's always possible to put back the orginal wm5 if you have to send device to repair... so yeah it's a pity HTC will not release an official update but cooked ROM has nothing less.

Despite being based on official ROMs, it's possible a little too much is changed each time causing instability. I mean, let's face it -- one or two enthusiast developers cooking a ROM vs an entire team of developers at HTC. I'm pretty sure their collective knowledge ensures greater ROM stability.
As simonte mentioned, should any cooked ROM cause the device any permanent hardware failure, getting the phone repaired by HTC will be a *****.
There have been times I've been tempted to give in and go for cooked but I just plain don't wanna install Olipoop's HardSPL.

Sorry I guess I don´t get it,what do you mean by that.Sorry.
Battery drain with the cooked roms?I don´t know what to say because with the rom by HTC wm5,once I turn on the GPS...man my battery starts dieing, regarless of the rom and version and a few calls later and goes from a 100% to 80% really fast.
So I got to a point that If I have this xda I don´t even think about battery drain or memory leakage,it´s just a phone (I know it´s more than that and expensive)but that how I see it.
Bye and enjoy the roms ;-)

Battery shouldn't be dying that fast. I'm using the ANZ HTC WM6 rom and have no problems. With TomTom running and RF circuits on (With a few short calls) I still get about 6 hours of battery. WiFi seems to cause huge battery drainage though, rarely get more than 3 hours with it turned on. AX3L's rom since 2.0.8.2 seem to have best battery life though when using Wifi, just depends on what you want most.
I found this on phonenews.com. Looks like our official Verizon WM6.1 revA upgrade is right around the corner. I already loaded it on my phone and seems good, but had to load Windows Live myself. CNET internet speed test was 478kb on one test run. Google Maps GPS worked with Valhalla legend.

Are you referring to this:

/ RUU_Vogue_VZW_WWE_3.14.605.1_Radio_3.37.77_Ship.exe
If so, I downloaded this the other day thinking it was the 'leaked' VZW WM6.1 Rom
I have yet to install it, though..

EDIT: Yeah, just saw on your blog: http://www.phonenews.com/verizons-htc-xv6900-update-packs-punch-were-offering-it-early-5417/
This is the leaked ROM.. notice that it was posted on November 11th, 2008

Morning guys,
My diamond went missing yesterday while in town
I have sorted things out with Vodafone and they could not send me a new diamond as it is out of sotck for a while, so I looked through what I could have and chose the HP Ipqa Data Messenger (Vodafone call it the HP Hound for some reason ).
What you guys think about it, and do any of you know any good sources for custom roms and such for these, as I guess XDA don't have a section for them, it does run WM 6.1 Pro, and I am particualry interested in messing wtih WM6.5 on it as I have been very impressed with the 6.5 roms for the diamond and love the new interface.
Your help and comments are much appreciated guys, as always.
Jamie.
bump, somebody must have come across this phone before, it cam out last November ish and runs WM6.1 Pro. Specs very similar to diamond and such.
