Hi
I'm a newbie at the HTC tytn, have just flashed it with Schap's WM6 Pro 4.22 ROMs and that works great.
The problem i have is how to config the settings so 3G and wi-fi/w-lan works.
If i get the 3G to work, then i can't get wi-fi/w-lan to work.
If i set it up to work with wi-fi/w-lan, then the 3G don't work.
What am i doing wrong?
Not sure but with a cooked rom i cant get anything to work over the internet. Connects to media net but thats it nothing works. Everything works fine on att's rom. Maybe your wireless card is messed up?

Is anyone else having issues with the Sling Player not working with the TP2 over the T-Mobile US 3G Network.
I get the error message - "Unable to connect to Slingbox" only when I connect over the T-Mobile US 3G network.
When I connect over Wi-Fi from outside it connects and works perfectly.
Out of curiousity I tried Internet Sharing from the device launched Slingplayer from my computer using the tethered connection and it works perfectly.
This leads me to believe that T-Mobile is blocking the connection. Any ideas to get around it.
On a side note my SIM card is provisioned for the Total Internet and the Slingplayer works fine when I use the same SIM card on a Dash 3G.
I have the stock T-Mo ROM and no mods done to it.
Please help
Here in the UK my sling media player works fine over the 3 network and wifi. So I would think you are right and it's your network that is blocking it or some settings need to be changed.
I'm in Atlanta on the T-Mo 3G network and TP2. Slingplayer works great, way better than when I was with ATT. By the way I have the unlimited internet plan of $34.99 if that helps.
Are you using the finder ID ?
At the moment it's working ok for me using the (easier) sling finder ID. But,
I have have seen problems connecting in the past.
I'm currently running Energyrom Genesis (WM 6.5). I dont remember if the problem occured when I was running the original 6.1.
In any case, you might have better luck using direct IP access instead of the Sling Finder. It's kinda complicated if you've never delt with setting up Port Forwarding on your router.
You also will probably need to set up a dynamic DNS server to find you IP from the outside (unless you have a static IP - dyndns.com). I don't remember if the sling box can take care of this (I have a network HDD that performs the function).
There are instructions on the Sling web site.
This also has an advantage that you don't need to bounce through the sling site to find your box.
works well for me over $5.99 tzones, so its gotta be the settings you're using. as mentioned, try both the sling finder ID or the direct ip.
Works for me on unbranded TP2 on Tmobile. I suspect you need to go to Tmobile internet connection settings and untick Use proxy. I have done this to also get Exchange direct push email to work
doesn't work for me on new AT&T
I just got my AT&T Tilt2 today and Slingplayer isn't working. I get the same message. It works on my laptop, so it's not the Sling side. It also worked on my Fuze.
try making sure "use proxy" is not ticked. I do this as it seems better for surfing etc (never fan of proxies) but HAVE to do it for Exchange Activesync to work

In my Connections, the Media Net setting under the Proxy section has "This network connects to the internet" checked, but there is no check on the "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet"
I went back to my Fuze and Slinplayer doesn't work on that now.
Could if be AT&T? I upgraded my phone but did not want to change anything on my account as I already had unlimited data and a text message package. Is there something they could have done there that will cause this? As previously stated, Slingplayer works on my laptop. The problem started mid-week this week about the time my new ATT Tilt2 would have been 'activated' and shipped.
Thanks!
Did you test it on WiFi? I loaded Sling on my stock AT&T Tilt2 and it works just fine (I had unlimited data before the switch). I had to add my Slingboxes seperately by entering their finder ID's but after that it worked.
I first tried it traveling in Austin TX and now in So Calif and it's all good. I'm also using WMLonglife and the radio stays normally in Edge, start Sling and the radio now auto switches to 3G and streams away. Close the prog and it switches back to Edge 2G.

I did test it on wifi this morning ... no luck. That's when I thought it likely wasn't the service and it was the application (it was around 2:00 am when I was messing with this hours ago and was beat). I just don't know what has changed on the phone app. I guess I'll try deleting the current slingbox and add it back from scratch and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestions.

Works fine on my tilt2 on AT&T...now if we could just get slingplayer to play at high resolutoin...its only at 320x240....at least push it to 640 x 480 would make picture sharper...
Works fine on my Tilt 2 on AT&T... Make sure you remove proxy and are using Media Net (wap.cingular)

Likely a bandwidth issue :-(

Still nothing ... I've got the wap.cingular. Can you give me the step by step? I'm sorry, but I really need some assitance here. If I don't get this working, the Tilt2 goes back. I'm not sure what the problem is, as someone suggested bandwidth. But if Slingplayer is working for others, it should be working for me. If AT&T changed something on my simple phone upgrade (wanted to keep all cell, data and text services the same as my current), then I need to know. But if there's a simple setting I need to change, I'll do that. I am just unclear as to what eh exact steps are ... 1, 2, 3, etc. Sorry, but I need it simple since this doesn't appear to be working for me.
I just went back to clear storage and have the standard AT&T ROM. I ran the SlingPlayer Mobile .exe and loaded that to the phone. Please tell me what to do next. It seems as though if should be pretty simple from this step forward for those who have it working.
I need it that simple as everything I've tried isn't working.
Thanks!
I'd say make sure you have the latest Sling Mobile player. Mine worked straight off after I entered the slingfinder numbers. I did NOT have the proxy removed and it works just fine via WiFi, 2G, and 3G, but YouTube would not play videos until I removed proxy tonight.
Make sure that you can open a browser and freely surf the web, go to Sling Media, make sure you do have internet access?

If you tether a PC thru your 3G phone and can run Slingbox player on the PC at 640x480 or better (as I regularly do) then it can't be a bandwidth issue. It is an artificial limitation of the PPC client.
It's working now ... for whatever reason?!
Well, if all else fails, then load the program again. This time it worked. Not sure what happened the first time around, but it's working now. I'm not sure what happened differently, but I guess it doesn't matter. It's working now. Thanks for the recommendations! Cheers!

wow, i'm sorry you payed for the sling system :/
Hello fellow TP2 owners.
Today I switched from cablevision back to Verizon Fios. In doing so, I no longer need to use my router along with the Optimum online modem (As Fios' modem comes equipped with 5 ports and Wifi already.) Okay, so everything went ok with my laptop and PS3, but now my TP2 does not use the Wifi properly.
It can see the signal and it even says I'm connected after I input the WEP key. The problem comes when I try to use the data connection. Opera 10 Beta and Skyfire or anything data based says "connection not available blah blah blah". I forgot to add that my 3g does work ok. When I manually disable the Wifi, my data works ok, just slower obviously. Im missing the wifi speed in the house right now.
Does anyone know what it could possibly be? Thx guys/gals
Did you disable the proxy? I can't get Opera or IE to use Wifi, but Skyfire does just fine on it.
no I did not disable the proxy. Im fiddling with it again today, but I am really confused as to why this is happening.
Hello frnds...
i wanna know that is there any T-Mobile dash without wifi ?
i have t-mobile dash.. but there is no wifi in it
i upgrade it from windows 5 to windows 6.5
now there is wifi in connection manager .. but when i turn it on it show :ERROR :
can anybody tell me what is the problem ... is my phone without wifi ?
The German T-Mobile version (called "MDA Mail") does not have WIFI. Not sure about the USA version.
I am sure my device is T-Mobile Dash because I had previously been using wifi, but when upgrade rom WM 6.5 I can not use wifi
I do not speak English poorly, I'm a Vietnamese
Thanks for reading.
From what I have read certainly the British Dash and probably others had the WiFi chip "removed" but this seems like a lot of work to disable WiFi. Seems T-Mobile want the money from everything possible. Of course if you did indeed have it before then that can't be the case with your phone but I can't tell you what is wrong, could be that they have disabled it in the Rom.
The T-Mobile Dash does have WiFi capability.
I ran into a similar problem when I flashed my unit with The Evolution 6.5 ROM.
I could open the Comm. Manager, but any attempt to start WiFi caused a "hang".
A re-flash with the same ROM did not solve the problem.
I eventually flashed NRG's "Rose" v1.4 (WM6.1). WiFi works flawlessly.
I have no idea as to why 6.5 failed in the WiFi department. Perhaps some of the "gurus" can come up with some suggestions'
possible with Wifisychip can make it work
thanks u it work
re upgrade your ROM
Hi! i'm using XDANDROID 2.2.1 with the latest update. the unknown problem that I discovered is that it whon't connect to data network. The network operator said that i dont need settings for the data connection but if the phone insists then i should use APN = ppinternet. tried bouth but didn't work! what shoul i do?!
Can you provide more info? Like, what build you're actually using? (Saying you're using "the newest" doesn't mean anything).
Also, what network operator are you on? You can make/receive phone calls/text messages?
Have you ever been able to use data on Android? Does your provider require a proxy?
this ([prj][XDANDROID][2.2.1][AOSP][24.01.11]FRX04 MINOR UPDATE. IMPROVED 3D performance)
my network operator is Digi mobil prepayd Romania. yes! i can make and receive sms/calls. no, i wasnt able never to make a data connection with my carrier.(in WM works). No, my provider works without o proxy. in fact, it works without any settings @ all. Im WM the only thing i imput for my connection to work is the connection name. the rest i leave them empty.
Try going into settings->wireless & network settings->mobile network settings->access point names->then add new apn. Set the name to Android and apn to Internet.
tried! wont work!

SOLVED! It seemd that all was fine EXEPT the RECEPTION!!! It seems that XDANDROID is'nt so good in connecting me to the network in places where WM6.1 ENERGY is!!! hope the AOSP team will get this note!
Well AOSP= Android Open Source Project so just google made the aosp and maybe the settings are wrong, for me everything is fine, and still in romania. Using latest build.

SoD's definitely are related to poor service - it seems even worse when the phone is flipping between 3g and 1x or EDGE.
If this is a problem, run WinMo - as you said, it works fine in WinMo as our current RIL is atrocious. It's being worked on, but again - this is a work in progress, still under heavy development.
Hi All,
Wanting to know if anyone knows how to force 3G on JJ's Rom.
On 3.1, I did not flash ROM Control and it was all fine, however ROM Control comes with 3.2 and there is no longer a toggle for it.
As far as I can tell there is no setting for this either?
My phone seems to prefer to switch to 2g whenever possible even though I know it can connect to 3G where I am.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
You should post it on jj's hybrid thread.

don't good working in 3.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1735705
3.1 working fine
for me, when i toggle the 2g to "off", 3g automatically comes in unless 3g isnt available at the area i'm in..
is it your service provider causing this problem? (preference to 2g)
maybe you can try searching under your mobile network to see whether are there 2 forms of your network, one normal and one 3g and try connecting to the 3g one..
many user says 3.2 its not good enough, just fix minor bugs. but evrything seems working gud for me. what bout u guys, sory oot...
AW: [Q] Force 3g JJ. Hybrid 3.2
has anyone found a solution to force 3g in the meantime?
