[Q] Can I flash my Dinc to Metro PCS?

Just wondering if this can be done and if I will be able to add any custom Roms to it once is on MetroPCS. I looked on craigslist to see if there were any local Flashers but could not find one here in NJ or NYC
What's the story?
I lost my phone a while back, got a replacement and someone called me a month later to let me know they had found my phone.
I have been using it as a mini tablet, adding different roms, letting my 2 year old girl play with it, etc.
Heard it can be activated on MetroPcs which its a lot cheaper than Verizon. I could either cancel my current contract or see if I can transfer it to my wife who's contract is about to expire.
She needs a new phone and this might just be the perfect solution as she could take my Verizon Dinc
Not Sure, But It Probably Has A Bad ESN Now, I'm Almost Certain But I'm Not Saying It Does.
Metro Is Cheaper But Their Service...Sucks
If It Has A Bad ESN You Won't Be Able To Transfer It, There May Be A Way To Unlock It But I Have No Clue
Even if it has a bad esn with verizon, metropcs should be able to activate it - that is if you can find someone to do it. I have seen people here in the tampa market with incredible and i have seen posts on craigslist to have it done for $50-$100 so I know it is possible. Talk and text on MPCS is great for the price but internet is going to suck!! Kind of a waste of the incredible's awesome power!!
can anyone please help me how to flash incredible to metro pcs
In Atlanta you can go to the Metro store on Beaver Ruin. They charge $60
u can't flash phone in NYC to metro its not gonna work
sorry for the bad news

[Q] Verizon vs Att questions

Hello everyone new to the forums and hopefully will soon be a proud owner of an xerpia play. I just had a few questions. I've been with Boost Mobile for a few years and have finally decided to step up to a contracted phone plan. So with my company discount the price for a family plan with 2 lines on AT&T and the price for a family plan on Verizon are about the same so then it comes down to the phones themselves. I've looked around online and have found that there different but there the same, so if any one has experience with/or knows which one is the better choice please let me know. Thanks!
EDIT: and I am leaning towards AT&T because for a few dollars more I get 3gb of data instead of 2gb with Verizon. And sorry I put this in the General category I thought I hit Q&A.

Well, you really need to ask around in the area in which you live and/or work (whichever one you will use the phone in most) to see how the actual service is. Where I live, Verizon beats all comers hands down for signal, both for calls and 3G. In fact, my daughter works for an AT&T Call center, and almost everyone working there has a Verizon phone.
I'm curious as to why you're leaving Boost. They use both AT&T and Verizon's towers, so it's probably not going to be much difference in terms of service area. I know their phone selection is somewhat limited. but you can always root them, remove the bloat and update the phone according to what's been dev'd. For example, my daughter's friend has a Samsung Galaxy Prevail which majorly sucked until I rooted and debloated it. There are several ROMs available for it, but already she's so much happier because she can install what she wants now and the phone overall is much more responsive.
Thanks for replying, I live in south Texas and really Verizon and AT&T are about the same with signal strength. So if the plans, service, and pricing is all about the same I still think it comes down to the phones. Some reviews I read said that the buttons on the AT&T Xperia Play 4g felt a little sturdier then the Verizon Xperia Play. So just seeing if anyone has experience with both to say either they are the same or one is better then the other.
Actually for a cheap phone/plan I love the Prevail. Thanks to shrinkage I'm down to $40 a month. I rooted my phone and removed all of the bloatware from it, I thought about modding it but decided against it. Really the reasons why I want to switch is #1 have a better phone I can keep myself entertained with while its slow at work or while waiting somewhere, #2 Even though you get Rev-A 3g with boost steaming from google music and watching videos on Youtube rarely works (but pandora most of the time works good...), #3 I drive alot back to my home town to see friends and family which is around a 9 hour drive...with boost about 80% of the drive I dont get service so in case anything were to happen I would not be able to get ahold of any one.
If you take part in the modding community, I recommend not getting the Verizon PLAY, it gets updates far more slowly and it's harder for devs to mod it
I vote AT&T as CDMA is more like the plague.
But I'm using a 800i Play on Tmo so I'd vote Tmo over AT&T.
But out of the original 2, AT&T.
As much as it pains me to say this, go with the AT&T Play, it is getting more modding action than the Verizon CDMA Play.
With a GSM phone, it's also easier to carry things from phone to phone, given the SIM card. Verizon, being CDMA, doesn't have this option, unless you're using an international phone, such as the HTC Incredible 2. There's a point for AT&T.
However, I've always heard that AT&T sucks with their customer relations.

[Q] Flashing Verizon Prepaid onto SCH-i515?

I just got my graduation present; and it's a Samsung Galay Nexus. It's the 32gb Verizon 4g LTE model (SCH-i515)
Now, I don't want a contract at all, the phone is off eBay but has never been activated AFAIK.
My problem is; I don't want a contract on Verizon. I've been told by the tech at my local store it didn't support prepaid, and couldn't be unlocked to use with Straight Talk. Whereas Straight Talk said it could. Whereas Verizon wants a 400$ security deposit to activate this phone. I came across a few eBay listings and videos where people are flashing their phones to the 50$ a month Verizon Prepaid Wireless? The only catch is 3g data speeds and no 4g, which is absolutely fine.
I'm wondering if its at all possible to flash my model phone, and how I would go about doing it? I'm extremely new to android, coming from an iPhone. (Don't bash me, I'm not a fan of them either. )
Just curious if you ever got this figured out. I'm interested in picking up a Galaxy Nexus and using it on Verizon's prepaid plans. Seems like it should be a no-brainer, but with Verizon you never know. Thanks!

[Q] Switched from Verizon to T-Mobile

Okay, I searched and found no other posts that seemed to answer my question, so here it goes:
I recently changed employment and as a result lost my access discount with VZW. As a result, I couldn't afford their service any longer. I went to Best Buy and bought a burner smartphone so I could try out TMobile's network in my area (a $50 investment after returning the phone itself) I paid off my edge finance plan and ported my family plan over to T-Mobile. Short story, I saved myself $100 a month......other than no access to 4g service in my area yet, I'm very happy. Call signal is 3 bars stronger at my home than it was with VZW: -85dBm 14asu)
wow...sorry for the rant, here is what I'm looking for help with:
The Rep at the TMo store was able to unlock my device, saving me from buying a new one. This allowed my to plug a TMo SIM into the phone and access their networks without any issue (other than no access to LTE, which doesn't matter since it isn't available in my area yet anyway) I am wondering if it is possible to install the RUU for the TMo version of the One and get OTA's and possibly even access LTE once it gets here? This saves me from going thru the hassle (and financial loss) of selling this device and getting one from TMo.
I get the feeling it's a long shot, but if anyone can figure it out, it would be this community
Any helpful input (even if its to tell me I'm SOL) is welcome.

The only way you would be able to gain access to their LTE network is if the phone has the hardware required for their frequencies. The developer edition One ships without T-Mobile LTE support enabled, but since the hardware is physically there, people were able to get on to LTE by flashing a T-Mobile radio to it.

You could turn it in to a paperweight by flashing anything other than stuff made for the Verizon One...no matter what, it's still a Verizon phone. Your best bet would just be selling it and getting a T-Mob phone.

I figured as much, but thank you both for your input.
I'll deal with my almost-fully-functional unit until the next gen One comes out later on this year

[Q] MetroPCS?

I bought D851 from swappa and its coming Thursday this week, I would like to know if MetroPCS would work if the phone is locked tmobile..? Do I need to get it unlocked? I wanted to use it on $60 plan
Any reason why you wouldn't do the T-Mobile prepaid?
Sent from my LG-D851 using Tapatalk
Why would you choose metro over t mobile?
Because I'm born deaf then got hearing aid implant, I rarely talk on the phone so I text and use data more. $60 seems good for me rather than $30 plan 5GB since I am out of the house a lot. I'm not used to being on the phone and talk to people because they say something and I don't hear them well so I always needed someone by my side for it. I've been testing on MetroPCS and I was seeing if $30 5GB was good for me but I don't know. I'm sorry if its a bother. Its first time buying a unlocked phone I've saved up for outside of my family's contract plan.
I'm on the MetroPCS $60 Plan. I had no problems using the phone. I was coming from Sprint.
The first t mobile store I went to wouldn't sell me the phone unless I signed up for T-Mobile service. I even got corporate customer service on the office with them, telling them that I could buy the phone without contract.
I ended up leaving, went down the street to a car toys store, and bought the phone for $50 less then the T-Mobile price.
I went into a mwtropcs branch, paid $10 for as sim card, and ported my number from Sprint.
Great coverage in my area (metropcs uses t Mobile towers).
The t mobile phone comes unlocked, so you shouldn't have any problems. Only thing to note is that each version of the g3 has different radios. So the t mobile version might not have as good of coverage on at&t's network.

Thank you SO MUCH for your reply, I was worrying a lot but you gave me a relief. I bought the T-Mobile G3 in mint condition for good price without original box as the seller have good ratings on swappa, but it hasn't even arrived today because USPS wasn't updating much on the phone tracking and got all the way to Florida passing my state from New York. I live in Virginia and I gotten really upset, I was like never again with Swappa.. I never had any issues with eBay but I was wary about that.. Thank you so much for your reply though. Both of my phone case and sim card coming in now I will have to wait for it tomorrow tomorrow or the weekend, sigh. :crying:
