Voice Command and blueant x5i headphones - HTC Excalibur

hello has anyone had any success with blueant x5i headphones.
I got them cheap and i ran the /Windows/vcbthag.dll reg fix but i still are not getting any functionality with the multipurpose button.
Any help is apreciated.
I did a hard reset of the phone just to check that i wasnt missing something.
The home button still turns on voice command.

Solved
ahh figured it out,
the power button is the button to push for vc.
the mf button calls the last person if you hold it down, or plays and pauses if pushed shortly.
kind of strange, whole reason i got it was because i thought the nice big button would be good for snowboarding.....

BlueTooth Voice Command Gurus, Help!
Ok so i got these bluetooth headphones (blueant x5i) for 25 bucks. Im a cheap bastard but who cares.
They are decent, the volume up and down buttons execute rewind and fastfwd, the mfb button plays and pauses or will call the last called number.
Now heres the catch (as per the thread above) the power button is actually the voice command button or.... when media player is playing it is the stop button.
So if I'm listening to music and i want to execute a voice command like, next track or play album, I have to hit the power button(stop media player), wait a second or two, hit the power button again and then I get my voice command prompt.
Does anyone know if there is a a simple way to either switch my voice command button over to the larger mfb (play/pause/redial last number button) or remove stop function and force voice command prompt on the power button???
If anyone can point me over to a thread or any help narrowing down the registry area where this is controlled will be appreciated.

Any help?
just thought id bump it back up to the top of the que here ive dug into the registry a little but its all very confusing for me.

Tweak request- Mute button

Tweak request-
-Enabling the mute button on the back of the phone when you are on a BT headset or just using the handset so you don't have to mess with the screen.
-A step further: Allow you to remap the button during different situations.
Example-
While not on a call you could remap it to something like voice command or live search (or anything else you wanted)
I accidentally hit that button alot when talking with the phone held to my ear. Launching programs would be weird too as its on the back. I'm sure it can and will be done though.

I'm assuming that no one has come up with anything considering how old this thread is. I'm looking for the same exact thing. This would be great when using my hands-free car stereo that doesn't provide a mute button. Bump!
Either you guys haven't tried Rhodium Keyboard Controller yet, or that's not what you're looking for.
It lets you remap all hardware keys, including the mute button.

Music Player / Answer Calls

I've been playing with my Defy for a while, and I've not found any Mp3Player that can do play/pause/next with the included headset AND ALSO answer calls when they come in with the same button.
I used to have a Nokia 5800 which had an awesome headset with play|pause|next|previous|stop|answercall buttons.
I've been unable to find something like that for Defy (android really), is this an "issue" or does it have a solution?
Thanks in advance to whoever helps
Can't say for sure they work as mine haven't arrived yet but Zagg Smartbuds are suppose to be able to do that using multiple presses and long presses & an analog volume control

Thanks for the answer, can you post your results when you receive them?
It's funny cause MY headset on a Galaxy S with Winamp configured exactly the same, actually goes to the next song with double press, but not in my defy.
Hope yours work fine =) I want to be able to at least skip songs and also answer/hang up from the headset=)
Got my ZaggSmartBuds today and had a chance to play with them. At 1st I wasn't real happy with them as all I could do was pause the misic and if I did anything else like long press or double press it would open up the other players I had installed. So I started gettting rid of them one my one, I had Mixing, Songbird, & Tunewiki, plus the stock music app.
I don't remember which one I think it was Tunewiki with nothing else installed when you douple clicked or long clicked it would bring up the voice command app. Didn't try answering the phone as it didn't work the music apps well. Un-install all of those and installed PowerAmp and now I can answer the phone, music pauses when the call come in, answered it by pressing the button on the headset. Music returns at the end of the call when the party hangs up or you press the button again.
Long press and it will skip the playing song and go to the next one. There are some options in PowerAmp to set the button to Double/Triple click, so you can go forward or reverse didn't try that option.
The SmartBuds came with 2 sizes for foam ear pieces and 3 sizes or silcone ear pieces with a nice little hard shell zipper case to carry them in. I liked the volume control inline even though it was analog I didn't have to adjust the volume on the phone from it's normal setting yet I could still adjust the volume or mute it. I didn't have to turn the volume down for the call as it was to loud but was able to do that with the inline control. The buds have amazing sound. It takes a little practice to inset the buds in my ears as they are angled once I got the hang of it they slipped right in.
Hope that answered your question
Hi,
As gramps50 wrote above, with PowerAmp you can set up in the option to : play or stop the music with the handset button, when a call is coming, the music stops and you can answer with the same button. When you finish your call, the music restarts automatically.

Thanks both for the input.
I'll give that a try. It still amazes me that a BASIC functionality like the Nokia headsets include, does not seem to be available on this phone! it's really weird!
App called Handset Button Controller maybe help you.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
thanks! i've used poweramp and it worked fine=)

VC by headset switch...

Hi all!
SEA Rhodium, 6.5 with VC 1.6 from links here...
Quick press Call starts phone, 2 quick presses starts phone, calls last,
Long Press Call button starts VC and it listens for me.
HTC wired headset (Stereo headset symbol shows in notification area), quick press nothing, 2 quick presses starts phone, calls last (then quick press ends call), long press does nothing.
I'm hoping and expecting that a long press on the headset switch will start VC and then VC will listen to the headset mic - just like the hand set, and like my old Startrek!
Have I missed anything? Why doesn't the headset switch completely act like the call button?
(bump?)
Hi all, still trying for help or confirmation...
My old Startrek would let me push headset button, beep to me, listen for command and on from there...
My TP2 will let me push long handset call button, beep to me, listen, do my bidding...
On wired headset, single push does nothing, long push nothing, double push does last call (just like handset!)... In call push gets me hold on/off, long push hangs up.
I don't understand why, if headset switch can replicate the call button,
why VC doesn't beep in and listen to me on single long push? It seemd so natural on my Startrek...
THX
Anyone else? Am I wrong, wrong headset, operator?

It isn't based on the device you use. The headset needs to support that feature.

Change command of bluetooth button

So I have a motorola roadster, whenever I hit the smart button it pulls up the samsung voice command. It is annoying because it tells me how many missed calls I have every time whether I have checked them or not. I have to completely delete them from my history to make it stop. It also doesnt always immediatwly listen when I press the button, sometimes it just loads the app and I have to press it again. I would like to switch it with the basic google voice search where just the microphone pops up. Anyone know of a way to change what the bluetooth button does?

Headset button function

Hi,
I use the headset button to control my music. From what I have figured out, one press pauses/plays music... two fast presses skips the track... I have tried this, and it works. But sometimes when I double tap the button, it starts ringing the last person I called Can I turn this off? This is really annoying, I seriously do not see why anyone would want this feature.
Iv'e tried one of those headset button apps, and wasn't very impressed, It only worked half of the time.
I mainly just want to stop the button calling people
Anyone any idea?
Thanks.
If you're using PowerAMP try turning on the 'High Priority' headset button handler. If that doesn't work or you have any other music player there's a free app called 'JAYS Headset Control' (works for any headset not just JAYS). Also has a lot of customisation you can do to your headset button actions .
