Dual SIM with HTC Tytn 2 - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I'm trying to use a dual sim adaptor with the Tytn2, but when i turn on the device i get a message saying "smartchip not allowed" and then there is no signal. what can i do?

I can't help you, but i have the same problem... Is it possible to do any changes in the registry?

There is a solution for this problem I've just found it by accident when searching for the same topic. Here are the quotes of people on the forum dedicated to this problem:
"In order to solve this issue, we suggest you to change the network parameter’s of your mobile. Please desable the automatic mode and choose GSM (only) for the network and select GSM (900+1800) + UMTS (2100) for the band selection"
However there is a price for this: "Changing to GSM is disabling all 3G/HSDPA function on the device, so your data speeds will be limited to standard GPRS (50kbps) or Edge, where available (up to 120 kbps)"

GSM Frequeny

I have a Orange SIM card which I got in Israel, I am now in Canada and that SIM works fine on my friends Nokia 6600, but when I try to use it with my XDA IIs I can't find any networks or anything. I am guessing its the GSM frequecy although the phone supports all of them. Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to get the SIM to work here? Does anyone know how to manually select a GSM frequency?
XDA IIs
ROM Version: 1.40.00 WWE
Radio Version: 1.15.00
Protocol Version: 1337.45
Hello psytech,
I believe you're roaming. Sometimes, you really cannot just plug your sim card then voila its working. If you are roaming, most of the time you really have to manually select the network.
anyway, i'm currently using windows mobile 2005, and no longer using windows mobile 2003 SE. i hope i could still help you or atleast you can see the pattern on how to do it.
here what you do:
1. click on the signal strength icon (the icon located on the upper right most portion of your screen just beside the speaker icon)
2. a dialogue box will appear with a clickable 'settings' button (located on lower left part of the dialogue box.), click the 'settings'
3. you will then see 3 tabs on the bottom part of the screen, 'phone', 'services', 'network'. click on 'network'.
4. you should find something like 'find network' button there, then just but before you click on it, choose 'manual' for network selection.
the rest is self explanatory, i hope i was able to help you. cheers!
You say your orange sim works fine on your friends nokia but does not work in your IIs.
Is it possible that your IIS device is sim locked as in will only work on the O2 network in the country you got it from.
If so unlock it via wiki (link in sig)
not it
I forgot to mention that the SIM worked fine in Isreal, my original SIM is orange (I do have an account with) I just can't get support cause I didn't buy the phone from them (capitalists).
About the network search. Thats what I've been doing for the last couple of days but I can not find ANY networks at all. which is what leads me to believe that its a GSM frequency problem.
What happens if you put your friends sim in your phone
GSM in Canada is generally 1900 http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/cou_ca.shtml
doesn't work either
My friend's SIM doesn't work on my phone either. If canada is 1900, how can I make sure that my phone is currently using 1900. (I know it supports it, but how do I actually see that its actually scanning with it?)
What happens if you go to Settings->Phone->Network and then change Network Selection to Manual.
You should then get a list of networks. This will list all networks even if you cannot connect to them.
[edit] This has already be suggested earlier in the thread
If you do get some networks then the only reason that I can think of that you are not connecting is that under Prefered Networks you have a network selected that your carrier does not have a roaming agreement with.
Check your provider's website to see who they have agreements with.
no networks
My provider (Orange) has agreements with Rodgers, but my problem is that I am not listing ANY networks, I tried manual and even added the Rodgers network to my favorite networks, but when I try to search for networks I can't find any, I just get a blank window. This is very odd to me and I've never heard of anyone with that problem.
Like I've mentioned before, I updated my windows to TuMa 1.4 and my radio to 1.1.15. If there's anything else I need to do or anything I may not have done when I updated my network please tell me.
btw when I installed that TuMa windows I change my ID thingy to Tmobile.
Problem solved
Attenttion everyone:
It has come to my attention that there is a problem in the Band Selection CAB when it comes to certian cellular providers.
The problem so far appears on a Cellular One network that only supports 850Mhz. When the North American Option is choosen in the Band tab, the phone can not find a network to register on. I'm not quite sure why this happens yet, but there is a solution to fix.
http://relaysgoldens.com/sx66/ext_roms/BandSelect-fix.CAB
By installing this CAB, it provides a fourth option on the band tab, "Reset Value to Zero".
By selecting this option, the phone will be reset to it's default state, and will work normally.
I've trapped this as a bug in the 1.40.124 extrom and will be working to figure this out.
Note: the band selection setting is persistant, and will not be reset even if you downgrade the ROMs on the phone. If you are experiencing this problem, the ONLY way to reset the value is to use the CAB above.
-Chris
P.S. I've also updated the 1.40.124 RAR file on the website to include the updated bandselect CAB.

How to re-enable GPRS for HTC Twin1000 (T5399)?

Hi, guys,
I got a HTC T5399 which is said to be Twin 10000, this dual mode phone is on the China market, customized for China Telecom CDMA2000 network, although it also supports WCDMA at the same time according to its brochure.
My problem is that GPRS functionality is disabled deliberately by the manufacturer when I want to use it under WCDMA network with my UK O2 sim card. Of course the voice calls are fine under WCDMA as it's supposed to. When I attempted to establish a new Internet connection, the options of line types are only three types: cellular line, bluetooth and Hayes modem on com port, there is no option of GPRS cellular line available as normal WCDMA 3G phones do. I tried to set up the connection with cellular line anyway but failed to connect to the network.
After googling on the Internet without any progress, I finally have to come here for help, as this website is for the best WM experts in the world. If I can not get it solved with your guys help, I don't think it's possible to sort it out anywhere else.
Thank you very much in advance for your kind support!
Sorry, forgot to let you know, the above device OS is WM6.5, details are
Windows CE 5.2.21869 (Internal version 21869.5.0.82)
Desperately awaiting feedback.....
no solution???
sadly, no one knows?

WCDMA / GSM auto problem

Hello Guys,
I'm experiencing a problem with my Froyo Desire for probably a week now.
The thing is that in certain areas my Phone can not receive calls / sms or such. In other words "GSM services" dont work. 3g though works fine (stable, strong and fast connection) My Provider is T-Mobile.
After quite a lot of testing I was able to isolate the error:
When WCDMA / GSM is chosen by the phone automatically it seems to me as if it didnt switch "back" to register with my provider via GSM when i want to make a call or if someone wants to call me.
When i switch to "GSM only" manually everything works fine but i have no 3g of course.
I also experience this problem only in certain areas. I live in an area where there is really strong HSDPA available (up to 7mbit\s). When i go to other places of my city i still get HSDPA (not as strong) but calls / sms still work.
The last paragraph may be of no importance, i don know.. probably it helps..
I have googled quite much about this problem and also found a few persons experiencing the same issue but nobody was able to come up with a solution.
I would be very thankful if someone could try to figure this out.

gsm only Desire?
I'm having a nightmare with 3g 2g connectivity on my Desire on the three network whilst at home. If I could manually select gsm only this would be fine as I could still call and text and use wi-fi. Unfortunately my options are gsm/wcdpa (or whatever) auto or the 3g only.
can someone please advise if it is possible to select gsm only and if so, how?
many thanks
Can someone please advise me how if possible, to set the desire to gsm only?

Wireless and network-Mobile network- should be here somewhere.
Thanks, but there is no option for gsm only. It's wcdma only or gsm/wcdma auto. there has to be a way around this.
Similar problem, different version
I've experienced similar problem.
In some area, I can get steady grps signal when I switched GSM only on; but when I switched WCDMA/GSM on, I could get no data connection at all.
I'm using China Unicom's mobile service.
Solution
Hi there,
I've the same issue and I fix it allowing the option GSM/WCDMA Auto in the configuration menu.
Then enter the following code *#*#4636#*#*, select "phone Information" and set preferred network type, set "GSM car (PRL)".
Sorry about my bad english.

[Q] Mobile data is stuck on "G"

I have finally acquired a data plan from my cell provider, and today I set up the APN settings for it. However, whenever I turn off the wifi, I only get the "G" (GPRS) icon in the status bar, with unbelievable slow download/upload speeds.
I just now tried flashing my radio to Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_SF (Even though I believe I had it before as well), and still I can't get it up to "H" (HSPDA).
I asked a co-worker with a Galaxy S on the same cell provider, and he has HSPDA speed at the same location as I. I also compared his APN settings to mine.
What can cause this error? Should I try flashing a different radio? is the Radio_12.39.60.19_26.06.04.06_M or Radio_12.35d.60.140f_26.06.03.24_M2 better in any way? Are they stable? Is this even the cause of my problem?
I have moved this question from the "Android Development" forum (sorry) - and over there I was told to use
*#*#4636#*#* -> Phone information -> WCDMA preferred
or
*#*#4636#*#* -> Phone information -> GSM auto prl
I tried both options, and when I tried "WCDMA only" I got disconnected, when I use any "preferred" setting, I get "Network type: GPRS".
I checked with my co-worker, and he has "GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)" - trying that I am still stuck on "GPRS" as my network type (He has "HSPDA" on his network type)
Are there any other hidden locations I need to check, in order to finally get HSPDA?
where did you buy it?
there are different "versions" out there with different frequencies.
"G" (GSM) is available in every country..but EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, etc have different frequencies..that could be a reason why it doesnt work.
DN41
I have ordered my DHD from France, but I believe it came from Spain, according to the English (Spain) and English (Catalan) languages on it.
Where can I see what frequencies it support, and how can I change it/fix it?
I just checked. The DHD is
Europe:
HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
Both Israel and Spain (And France) is on 2100, so I think it should be OK...
seems that this is not the problem
if it would've been the wrong "revision" with different frequencies, you couldn't have done anything.
seems like a software problem...does other sim cards work?
DN41
Try
Settings, wireless and networks, mobile networks, network modes.
This give options for WCDMA only, GSM only and GSM/WCDMA auto.
Hope this helps.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
you might also want to check you have a 3G capable sim card, if you have only just aquired a data plan
Someone once told me there is no such thing as 3G sim - they are all basically the same, except for the on card memory size (64/32MB, or something like that). I wasn't too sure he was right, but then my cell provider just told me he can give me the data plan, without the need to physically upgrade the sim card. Then again - what do they know?
Do you think it might be the case?

Yeah, pretty sure there's no 3G SIM card. The SIM card only identifies you to the network.
Yes, it was the sim card. Apparently mine was quite antique... Now it works just fine with H/3G.
Thanks for the help, though.

[Q] Change 3G band to European GSM 900/1800

A family member gifted me a Galaxy S4, however it is the SGH-M919. I currently live in Europe and 3G bands in my region are GSM 900/1800. At the moment I can't access 3G and any other type of data for that matter (LTE is not supported here). Is there a way to change T-mobile 950 and 1900 bands to my region ones?
Thanks for taking your time to answer
Sadly not.
Since the radio does not support those frequencies for hsdpa

So there's no way to fix it?
Hello Flex,
I have the same phone "Samsung S4 SGH-M919 - Tmobile" and I live in Hungary, it works fine with me all you have to do is just to switch form WCDMA/GSM to any other option "like GSM only" then back to WCDMA/GSM as a kind of refresh and the 3G will work fine after that, you can find this inside Settings > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Network mode, but unfortunately you have to do this every time you restart your device.
There is also another alternative solution is to reset the Access point names to default, you can find this inside Settings > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.
to be honest I don't know the reason of this error, but try what I described and tell me if it works with you.
Good Luck
Well. I have the exact same phone and have tried several ROMs, either custom or stock and basebands also. Nothing seems to work. The very few users who reported it was working didn't provide much evidence of it. Even Wikipedia says no 3G 900MHz availability for this phone. A simple edit to NV 1877 values won't solve it. I've tried that too.
