Hi,
I can't receive any text messages on the orbit. I can sned them thou and make and receive calls.
I called 02 and they said to take out the sim and clean it. If that doesn't work then I should check it in another phone to see if its the phone or the sim.
I checked it in another orbit here at work and both phones can receive text messages. My Sim however, when placed in either phone will not receive them.
Does anybody know of any settings that could be enabled that would prevent incomming texts on the Sim. O2 are useless, they dunno how to fix it. Only got the phone on Friday.
Thanks
Mick
Re: Unlocked Xda2i on Vodafone, problems with Text messages..
Hi All - I wonder if anybody can help please? I have a very strange
problem with my O2 XDA2i, which is unlocked & being used on UK Vodafone.
I flipped back to using it again earlier today [from my trusty PL720],
& noticed that I hadn't received my usual overnight texts/ SMS. On
looking further, I couldn't send any texts either..
I can still however, make & receive calls.
Selecting O2 Active|Messaging|Texts displays 'Inbox' but offers only
2 options - MMS, & Outlook email. No 'Text messages'.
On trying a hard reset, & trying the above again, I see 3 items available
in Inbox, & can send/receive texts.
I am currently working through my backups to see how long I've had this
problem [I don't always use the device with the SIM in].
Anyone, any advice!?
Thanks!
I know there are a couple of threads about this already but mine is a little different.
I got O2 XDA Orbit from ebay - put in my VodafoneUK sim card and everything works fine, MMS, GPRS, Internet and even GPS (don't know if the last one matters) - I haven't upgraded or changed any software or anything but my SMS text messages won't work - they sit in outbox for a minute or so then I get the error msg "your text message cannot be sent".
Ant help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Silly question but does the actual phone work - ie can you call out OK?
Can you receive messages?
My Orbit will receive OK but not always send in a poor signal area.
Stew,
Sorted It!!!!
To your answer sloss yes everything else works but I know what it is now.
I tried Start>Settings>Phone>Services...Voicemail and Text Messaging...select and then Get Settings........BUT it actually receives the WRONG yes the WRONG message centre number from the network.
Got a friends UK Vodafone phone and just copied his message centre number and Viola it worked fine, I'm so happy I could cry!!
Just thought this might help some others who may be having this problem.
Hello!
I decided to post here because I have a problem sending text messages with my HD.
Every third time, when I want to reply an SMS, it cannot be sent, it returns in the drafts, and I have this error message.
I don't understand why.
I tried dozen of Roms, radio, or SMS application (Manila, Windows, SMS Chat), and this happened.
Thanks for the help.
well, what rom you usin now my friend?
check yours sms center number in phone settings undee "voice mail and text messages"
if blank ask your operator to give it to you.
I just tried a new one to test if there is the issue, I'm on the last Lost in Asia.
Still the same problem.
[EDIT] SMS Center number checked, and it's okay. But I don't think this is the problem according I can send messages most of the time.
I solved the problem. In Settings / Connexions / Advanced Connexion, SMS Service is now set to GSM only.
having the same problem. its so frustrating i swear. plz do help

I have the same problem, however I find that the sms's are actually sent because the other party has informed me.
I have this problem as well. I have WWE latest official ROM and SMS service set to GSM only. But as vanaveer said, other party received message even if it´s showing that "message cannot be sent"...
I think I solved the problem! Wich is indeed very frustating. The problem is in the SIM card, if the SIM card is older it does not really switch wel between the gsm.hsdpa network, which results in time out erros when sending text messages over the hsdpa network. If you put the settings of the network to GSM only, it will work flawless. I will receive a new SIM card by my provider and then the problem will be solved all together.
please report back wether this was helpfull or not
Well, I don't know if this is a 'Solution', but it's working for me.
I also have the same problem STILL! But I got it working, just
by instead of replying to the text message, I deny to make a
reply, and just start a new text message. This way I am able
to 'reply' on the text message.
Anyway, it's a good temporarily solution (for me surely), until
someone finds out what the actual problem is
I hope this will work for you!
grts,

i have a similar prob.
when one particular friend text's me it comes through with his name, as it should be. but if i try to reply from his text i get the "message cannot be sent" error.
if i then go into my contacts and text him it's all good.
the problem is that when i recieve a text from him the "+" symbol is omitted from the beginning of his number. but the symbol is there in my contacts list and as i stated the text comes up as from him.
i don't geddit??
I have the same problem. I get an error but people receive my SMS. I even asked for a new SIM... same problem. Tested many ROMs and Radios... no luck.
I've given up. Now I'm looking for a way to disable the "Your text message cannot be sent" message because it blocks my other incoming SMSs until I click OK.
My guess is it is operator related.
I have a Huawei Mate 20 X EVR-AL00 on buildnumber 10.1.0.165 (latest update).
Lately, I noticed my phone does not receive sms text messages. The strange thing is, I have no problem sending text messages at all! With this, I started my investigation:
* Deleted all cache and data from my default sms app.
* Installed a third party app (Google Messenger)
* Restarted my phone
* Turned off my phone for a couple of minutes
* Put my simcard into another phone. (Which immediately received all the sms text messages).
With this last test, I can almost be sure that the problem is caused by my phone. The only thing is, what causes this problem? Looking online, people only talk about not being able to send and receive sms text messages. My problem is different, because I have no problem sending sms text messages.
Another strange thing is, that after the simcard swap and back to my Mate 20 X again, I did receive one or 2 newly send sms text messages on my Mate 20 X. After a couple of minutes, the problem reoccurred and I couldn't receive sms text messages anymore.
Is any of you familiar with this problem? Could hardware even be the problem, because of me still being able to send sms text messages?
Thanks in advance!
