I wondered as there are so many of us here around the world if we could maybe help each other out a little.
I want a 1Gb SD Card for my MDA III here in the UK I can pay anything from £64.00 (48x) to £98.00 (60x) of course I want the 60x but wonder why I should pay so much when I know its cheaper in the US.
Yes I could buy from some US person on Ebay and have it shipped but I normally only purchase from UK sellers I feel safer that way.
So maybe there is an opportunity for one of you lovely US peeps with and XDA/MDA etc to help out us folks from the UK who have to pay through the nose or maybe even someone from Hong Kong etc
The best make I know it Integral 1Gb SD which is 10Mb sec read anyone know better and how much is it in your neck of the woods.
i bougth a 1gb sd card from ebay, kingmax 60x speed works great, i paid £49.49.
just checked he still had some and they are now £42.79 buy it now plus £6.99 post.
there are scandisk 1 gb for £38.49 plus £6.95.
Great.

Did you have to pay import duty and VAT? When did the card arrive with you? I often buy car parts from the US and they'll get delivered for a good price but a few weeks later (sometimes a couple of months later) the shipping company sends me a bill for the duty (10%) and the VAT (17.5% of price + shipping + duty).
It took 3 days to arive, from paying for it (paypal). no import duty or tax, just the price plus post and packaging plus post insurance in my case it totaled £57.47 well happy and now they are getting cheaper,,
I couldn't wait when I saw how cheap they were - just ordered a Kingmax one for £52 inc. post and insurance! Whoo!
Just hope it works now...
Thanks for the tip, m1bwe. If I have any problems I'll be round your place to put a bat up yer nightdress!
PS. CarlnAdele - the eBay seller was in the UK for this one - just the card is shipped from the USA. They're a major power seller so hopefully my first (ever) purchase on eBay should go smoothly... 8)
No problem,,, Peter..
Incase anyone wants the Link
The 1Gb Kingmax Cards are at

isn't the 1gig sd cards the same price in ebuyer
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=63726
The eBuyer price doesn't include VAT.
However, there isn't a lot of difference in price. £52 (for me from the US) vs. £58 from eBuyer (inc VAT).

Strange that they are cheaper here. Don't they all originate from Asia anyway?
Well, ya pays yer money, ya takes yer chances... Still waiting from my 1GB SD card from the eBay power seller called sarafatl. Apart from a PayPal receipt I've had nothing at all... No order confirmation and no response to my three emails...
Starting to be really pissed off with this now. First ever order on eBay and I get the most uncommunicative seller in the world. Got no idea whether there's even a card on its way to me.
get in touch with paypal!!! they can see if hes recieved payment.. peter
hello,
actually...I am a ebay seller from HK... maybe we can have some transaction......just PM me if you want to order from me...No need to worry about it...I am a serious guy
Update: well, my 1GB SD card arrived this morning and it's not the one I ordered, so I'm waiting for this bloody crappy seller to get back to me and tell me what they're going to do. I have no idea whether this card will work in my XDA II and you can bet your teeth that if I open the packet to try and it doesn't work, I won't get any replacement or refund.
Jeez, why am I the unlucky one on eBay???
Anyone got any experience of 'My Flash' cards, made by A-data, in their XDA?
Hi
www.aria.co.uk have some cheap SD cards at the moment. 1M, 512M and 1G. Have a look at their specials page.
I bough the 1G card, the pic is an example, mine was a sandisk device. Works a treat. Think it was £55 incl p&p.
Nigel
Another update: This A-data 'My Flash' 1GB card does seem to work fine in my XDA II so I guess all is well in the end. I called the eBay seller and he was pretty helpful, so it's only in emails that he's unresponsive.
AVI movies recorded straight to the SD card are a little jerky on playback but apart from that this card seems OK. Its speed is 40x instead of the 60x that I thought I was getting. Ho hum...

I am thinking of buying and O2 XDA Orbit from the O2 Online shop, https://shop.o2.co.uk/phone/features/O2/XDA_Orbit
I wondering if anyone has bought one from O2 Online if so can you tell me what is in the box?
I notice from other thread that other purchasers that bought from O2 shop did not get the
GPS Software
Car Mount/Holder
MicroSD Card
Case
If no car mount is supplied does the HTC P3300 Brodit Car mount fit?
Cheers
Nick
I didn't get any of those, AFAIK they don't come with a card or a case, and you might get the software free or you might have to pay an amount to get it.
I bought a 1GB sandisk MicroSD card with SD adaptor and usb2 card reader all for £18.99 off eBay. Works great.

The O2 shops are doing Copilot free with an Oribt + tariff of £40 or higher. For tariffs below that they are charging £50 for the Copilot bundle.
O2 Online's website says Copilot is free with an Orbit and doesn't mention any restriction on tariff. This may be a mistake on their part but while they are advertising it like this I guess they have to honour it.
They list the Copilot bundle as;
In car charger
In car cradle
Gooseneck suction mount
256mb Micro SD card preloaded with UK/IRE maps
Full co-pilot software suite

Thanks for the info, I could not find what the Orbit comes with on there web site am I missing something or going to the wrong place?
Nick
I ride a bike seldom in a car but I would have paid an extra £50 for the copilot bundle had I known you get a car charger and cradle with it. I might phone O2 and complain, especially as the on/off button on my phone has developed an intermittent fault.
NickR, I don't think its on their website.
The info is from an official O2 branded PDF doc that O2 sent me after I rang to ask about the Orbit. I'd upload here but its bigger than this board allows. No other info behond what I've already posted though.
Cheers.
New orbit owner - set up question?
Hi all
Got the orbit today, can anyone suggest which of the set up is best for the phone - basic or corporate.
Great phone

I ordered my Orbit today on the o2 online site, when I did inquire what was in the box they did not really have a clue, the chap went away and asked some and said there is only the copilot software included, hopefully I will get it tomorrow, I will let you know what is in the box.
I have now got to have a fight with the carphonewarehouse to try and get my PAC number without having to give them £180 to terminate my contract early. Anyway thats another story which would take up about 5 pages and is not relevant to this topic.

In my box (bought from O2 store) I had...
Device
2 x Stylus
USB cable
Mains charger
Outlook CD
Applications CD (GPRS Moniter, PDF Viewer, USB modem driver)
User Guide
Quick Start Guide
Warranty card
Wired headset
On my tariff I would have had to pay an extra £50 for Copilot so didn't bother as I've already got TTN6.

Please help, I am currently having an arguement with o2 regarding what I should have recieved!!
I checked out the o2 website to look at the Orbit and decided to upgrade my current phone to it as it had the gps bundle for free. I called there online upgrades (O2 Retention) number and spoke to a guy for about 20 minutes regarding what deal he could do me.
I had to pay £99 to upgrade to the orbit (I was 6 months over my 12 month contract so thought they could have done a better deal than this!!) and I was told on the phone this would come with everything I needed and even came with an adapter to fix it to my car windscreen.
When the box arrived it is only just the phone and after 5 calls back to O2 they have said they never agreed to send me the sat nav kit. I am waiting for a call from a supervisor on Monday who has apparently listened to the call so I am going to ask for a copy of it because I think I should get what I was promised!!
Can anyone helo me with some advise on this as it seems some people have got it and others have not! I am now signed up to the online 25 tarrif for 18 months the same as NickR, and he got his with no hassle it would seem!!!

I was surprised to get the kit, I may have got the kit because I was not upgrading? I had loads of hassle buying, got rejected once by o2's 3rd party credit company, I had to ring my credit card company then reorder the Orbit. It took me all afternoon. Then I had an argument with Carphone Warehouse to get my PAC number, it would have cost me £180 to cancel my contract so I now have 2 mobile phone contracts. It worked out cheaper doing nothing. I will cancel my contract with o2 next year.
Hope you have success with O2, I would have not been to bothered if I did not get the Copilot Kit, its crap! I have installed TOMTOM 5, bought a 1GB Sandisk Ultra II for £28 and will get a Brodit Active mount £35 when they are available.
The GPD on the Orbit is fantastic, locks on to sats in the middle of my house.
Good Luck

This is my first ever pda so new to it all, reading forum after forum to slowly learn how to do everything. Too scared to even turn it on yet!!! Currently downloading a version of Tom Tom 6.02 but i'm worried that if I start messing about with my XDA I will break it!!
Assuming things with O2 don't go my way, I've figured out I need to get:
1 - A SD memory card
2 - a memory card reader(???)
3 - A working version of TomTom
4 - A screenmount and cigarette power supply.
Is this right?? Being new to this whole thing the co-pilot kit would have been great for me as would have meant so much less hassle!!
How much did you have to pay for the phone NickR and are you on a 12 or 18 month contract??

I am on a 12 month contract,
Yes everything above is what you need to Navigate.
1 - A SD memory card (512mb min)
2 - a memory card reader(???) (not essential but is faster than uploading maps via activesync)
3 - A working version of TomTom (yes)
4 - A screenmount and cigarette power supply. ( would get a Brodit Clip and an Active Mount, the pda will just drop into the mount without having to mess around trying to connect the 12v charger.

They are not the cheapest but they are very helpful. The HTC P3300 brodit mount although is near enough the same device has a different shell to the Orbit will not fit without bodging the mount so Brodit are making one especially for the Orbit. They will be available soon so keep checking there web site.

Cheers, do they make them to fit to the windscreen though, or only to the air vents??
Reason I ask is because I am moving to spain in a few months so will obviously be changing my car. Although I think the air vent one would be better, a windscreen mount will be better for me as can use in any car.

You have 2 choices that I know of,
1/ I have aclip which clips on my dash board.
2/ a suction mount
3/ or a vent mount
You the screw the PDA Mount to ether of those fixings. Give the chap at dsldevelopments a ring I am sure he would be happy to advise.
Let's see if we can crowdsource the best prices for a SIM-Free Desire.
In the UK I think the cheapest SIM Free deal is from Clove.co.uk (the dark gray model):
£330 (£387.75 inc sales tax)
€381.95 (€448.79 inc sales tax)
£6 or £8 for shipping to UK
£18 or £22 shipping to Europe
They are out of stock until this Tuesday 4th May (they already sold out of two shipments)
Second cheapest seems to be from play.com at £399 including tax and shipping.
Have you seen cheaper? What about in your country?
BTW: The best Class 6 SD Card deal I found so far was at scan.co.uk. A 16GB class 6 card for £46.98 (£55.20 inc sales tax) - catalog number LN32727 - but it's status is on pre-order at the moment
apparently 3uk have it for £350 on payg...
In Romania you can get as low as 422Euro (VAT included) SIM-Free from online retailer CEL.ro
On contract you can get it at 199Euro and 48E/month, or 229Euro with 32E/month fee at Vodafone that includes unlimited data plan (for 2 years subscription).
In Switzerland, no EU VAT, ~ €347

Okay - That's >12% cheaper than Clove (after tax & shipping)! 350 is the record cheapest for the UK so far.
Here in Luxembourg it is 409€ unlocked. You can buy it at any LuxGSM Shop.
phonemania.co.uk has second cheapest price for htc desire.... including VAT it costs 385 GBP which includes shipping.... just check it out...
I bought my desire from 3 on payg for £349.99
he hehe i bought mine locked to t-mobile BUT
the handset was meant to cost me £124 + £15pm x 18months however they didnt charge me for the phone at all which means my phone costs £270+ costs of unlocking which are about £15 at t-mobile == £285
Italy: 430 is the most cheap I've seen but out of stock, 440 plus shipping can be found I think. shipping costs in Italy are quote steep, around 10-15 €
by the way is the dark grey model nice?

The guy asked me to buy a £10 top-up, which wasn't an issue as I gave this to my brother and he gave me the £10 back! (He's on 3 PAYG). So mine cost me £350
Even still, if you buy the £10-£20 top-up and throw it away, it's still the cheapest you can pick one up!
If you get stuck I'm sure some one on these boards will give you £10 for a £20 top-up.
I bought mine through Orange France, then promptly debranded and unlocked it.
Here is their absurd pricing scheme...
479€ tax included without contract
379€ tax included with a prepaid sim card -- the thing is you can just chunk or sell the simcard the second you get it, they dont even activate it. Just hand it to you and ring you up at the register.
Why anyone would pay 479 is beyond me

If it's a topup that can be applied to any 3 sim then that is different as don't mind that as can sell it. I thought they would want to use it on the one they give you.

They print you off a top-up voucher code. I imagine this can be applied to any 3 (UK) PAYG sim, however I don't think my brother has used it just yet - he's waiting for his current allocation of internet to expire.

469 € in Belgium too.
Around 500€ here in Norway.
Does anyone know where to buy the Asus Mobile Dock DK01? Or even the DA01?
All I can find are third party chinese ripoff docks, I can't find the official dock anywhere. It is listed on Asus' website, but there's no purchase option (and would probably be overpriced directly from Asus even if there was). Can't find on Amazon, eBay or Google Shopping.
Is this vaporware?
I found a seller in Estonia. I used a credit card just in case, but it came and works perfectly. Cost was about $40.

My invoice says Nordic Digital AS, but I think it's was AIO: https://aio.lv/en/laptops-tablets-c...-z300-series-keyboard-language-english:227706
It says not available to order.
Do a search on this ID number: 4712900569582
There was one for sale in the UK when I looked.
I paid 19.16 euros plus 14.99 euros shipping (in October 2017), but I think I got a great deal. Those I see now are a lot higher.
Asus still lists it on its site, but it is strange that it's so hard to find.
I'm listing mine on ebay.
