The blinking icon at the top right corner worked OK on my Smartphones - along with the audio / vibration.
Are you sure you don't see the icon?

I believe the poster is referring to the "today screen" (home screen). The icon is not there on it, so you have no way of knowing if you have messages without going into another app first.

WM 6.1: Threaded SMS issues, other stuff

Hi all!
Well, I installed 6.1 and it works great! It's a new dash, and I HATE the T-mobile OS with a passion. I downgraded from a wing (though it feels like I upgraded to be honest... nothing but problems with the wing) so I don't know if this is a WM 6.1 issue, or a Dash issue, but I've got some problems:
1. I love the whole "IM" feel of a threaded SMS message, and I'd really like to use it, but I had to disable it, because FOR THE LIFE OF ME I CAN'T SCROLL UP TO READ OLDER MESSAGES!!!
I tried EVERYTHING and I just can't do it!! I had my girlfriend send me 4 messages in a row while I was sleeping and I can only see the last 2. I had to disable threading just to read her messages! I'd like to fix this. Can someone please tell me how to scroll up for the love of God???
2. Since I disabled threading, I now have a new issue... 2, actually. They're not problems, just annoying as hell.
- I've got a light green format now. Light green header background with darker green text. Edit area is green text, which is nice, but I'd prefer black & white, or a darker green at the very least. Is it possible to edit this without changing the whole damn theme?
- When I open an incoming text message, I see a blank white screen. At first I thought it crashed, but then hit the "Up" button and saw that it opened the message, and put me at the BOTTOM of the message by default! Again, not a big deal, but it is a pain. I'd really like it to be at the top of the message (the header) at LEAST at the top of the message body. Anything I can do for this??
Sorry if this topic appears elsewhere... I DID search, but got about a million results back and nothing relevant. If you're going to get mad at me, at least link me to a topic that's already covered these issues Thanks!!
Thanks again, in advance, for your forthcoming help!!

1. I have used several of the 6.1 ROM's from Kavana and Ricky, and am able to scroll up on a threaded conversation that goes beyond the bounds of the screen.
Sorry I don't have any other answers for you. What 6.1 ROM did you install?
Kavana 6.1
What did you try to do to scroll up? I can very easily scroll up to older SMS messages by pressing up on the directional pad. This is on the latest Kavana 6.1.
That's what I did... pushed "Up". Nothing happened. The cursor stayed in the edit area, and the screen didn't move.

Missing 'missed call' icon on homescreen

Hi,
I recently tried out DontForget for my Dash and had problems so I uninstalled it. Now my 'Missed Call' icon at the top of the homescreen no longer works (i.e. if I miss a phone call there is no icon displayed). Is there a registry fix or something that I can do to get it working again so that I don't have to do a hard reset for something so small? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had the sam problem, a reboot fixed it for me (turn dash off then on again). I use Best Reminder now, it works perfectly.
Thanks Bupahs,
I had to soft reset three times for it to work, but it finally kicked in. DontForget also defaulted all my reminder sounds to 'Ding' upon un-install, had to reset all of them. Wow, I had problems with their free version (endless reboots, etc.) and was hoping that all was good with the new $15 (US) version. I guessed wrong.
Thanks for the Best Reminder tip. Great program at a reasonable price.

Notification bubble on taskbar problems...

Hi everybody,
I ha ve a problem with my notification bubble on the taskbar. You know the bubble that pops up when you touch the series of icons and lead you to a black menu showing the speaker (volume) the data and cellular coonections and all the other notifications...
Well mine just stopped fonctionning that way, since this morning when I press the series of icon it just pops a bubble with the notification content related to the specific icon I press. I have pretty big fingers and trying to get the data connection bubble to open is pretty much a pain in the...
I know there should be a regkey somewhere to fix this but my sesrch as lead me to a dead end. I really need to have my menu working like it was before, can anybody help me??

Nevermind... Found the solution

Notifications while screen is off

I've looked everywhere and I can't seem to find anything about a possible notification light. I've gone through my apps and made sure the Light notification option was enabled and I'm still having to check my phone to see if I have messages from the SMS app and FB messenger, as well as notifications from FB. Now I may be having a complete brain fart, but if anybody could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it

Unfortunately we don't have a notification light. If I could change anything about this phone it would be that and the addition of a 3.5mm headphone jack. Maybe add a legitimate ip rating while we're at it.
Moto Display!
Even better than a notification light is Moto display... Open the Moto app and turn on moto display. You can select the apps that you would like to appear. It uses active display so if you move your hand over the display the notification would show. I love this feature, and have been using it with a moto X (1st and 2nd gen) for years now

I'm slowly getting use to the Moto Display for notifications but I'd rather the LED notification light. I mean I dont want to have to wave my hand over a phone or pick it up just to see if I missed a call or text.

But that is kinda fun. I do it as a bar joke a lot. "These are not the notifications you're looking for"

Duplicate Text Notifications on Quick Reply

I am having an issue/annoyance with my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S9 and I hope you all are able to help. My device is currently setup so that when I get a text I receive the notification in the bar, I am then able to pull the notification bar down to read a portion or all of the text and am given the option to reply (a short message) directly through this feature. When I do this and click the send arrow and very quickly thereafter I receive another notification as if I had gotten a new or different text when in fact, when I slide the notification bar down, it is just just my own sent text being shown to me. Hopefully this makes sense to some of you. It is really annoying to me. I always thought that in the past if you did a quick reply the notifications would auto go-away unless you actually recieve a new/different text message.
Any insight?
Thanks
Bro, it's not an issue, it's actually helpful in a lot of ways.
For example if I had to reply to an important message without being "online" on whatsapp, I can send many messages from just the notification panel, so I can see the whole conversation from there without opening the app. I think it's a very handy feature.
Simply when you reply to a conversation and you don't need to utilize this feature, just swipe the notification to the left/right and you won't see a notification unless you recieve a new message.

So swipe away the notification once you have sent your message, happens here too if I leave the notification there after replying
I don't see the benefit
I don't use WhatsApp, but regardless I don't need my notification light to keep flashing as a result of me replying to a text via quick reply feature. Like I said, it's just an annoyance for me that I don't recall dealing with on any of my galaxy devices and I was merely trying to see if there was a way to toggle this "feature."

Why can't you swipe the notification away? Two people have already told you that will stop it
I CAN, and DO

Yes, I can read and that's what I already do. The whole purpose of the thread was to see if there was an option to toggle this useless feature off. I would have already read and/or replied to the specific text, thus not needing to have to REacknowldge or "swipe" the notice away for a second time...leaving my light flashing until I go to it 2 times.

You should explain in your first post what you have and have not done so people know before replying....
No, no toggle other than disabling notification LED altogether either system wide or for that app
Phone is obviously thinking your reply is a new message, which in a way it is, although already reading it should inform it that you have read it and it is not new, but as it does not, keep swiping and report to Samsung

this might actually be a sprint issue. the app that you use to do your quick replies, do you know what its called? my S9 doesnt have a feature like that on it and its running the may security patch update, so its not on an old firmware and just missing a new feature.
glitchy stuff like what youre experiencing can be often solved with a factory reset

It's not an app, it's literally the notification pulldown which you can reply from, when you receive a message and pull down the notification to read it, under the message is a reply button, press that and it opens a little reply text box on the notification dropdown, when you press send and turn off the screen it flashes the LED to say there is an unread notification which is actually your reply still sitting in the notification dropdown, only way to stop it is to swipe away
Got it here with unbranded G960F S9 in the UK on o2

ok, i just tested that out, and i was able to use the quick reply feature and didnt get a residual notif. rec'd test, went to pulldown, hit the little enter key button which revealed a reply field taht wasnt part of my default text app, typed a reply, sent it, locked screen, no flashing light, no further notif. seems like mine is working like its supposed to
edit: i also verified that the intended recipients got my replies. no notifs for my outbound messages on my device

good point, i forgot to mention that i have chomp as my default. Maybe that will be the solution for the OP

You have hit the nail on the head! This exactly what I am referring to. No app, just default texting app. Exactly as you described.
SM-G960U on Sprint Network for me.
Most up to date software I believe, at least that's what my device tells me.
