Hi,
I use Orb a lot to watch live TV on my Dash and it has worked great with wm5 but after the upgrade to the "official" wm6 now the video (live TV and other videos) shows rotated 90 degrees (to the left). This only happens with Orb.
Does anybody has this issue? I checked the registry for an option to rotate the screen but I couldn't find it.
Hi,
have you tried this tool to rotate the screen ?
Don't know if it works, but on the VOX you can turn the screen 90° - 180° - 270° ...

I tried that on my Dash and it doesn't work (doesn't rotate the screen). It's weird Orb used to work fine with wm5 (wmp).
Hi,
what version of wm6 do you have installed?
maybe you have wm6 professional? (e.g. "pocket pc", hermes, ... version)?
I have the leaked "official" version for T-Mobile Dash (Smartphone):
Windows Mobile 6 Standard
CE OS 5.2.1236 (Build 17741.0.2.1)
Radio: 4.1.13.34_02.79.90
RIL:2.002
well,
does the tool work at all or does it not help you rotate when you watch a film in fullscreen mode.
Im asking because i could imagine that media player is setting the rotation angle back.
what happens when you start the tool?
It is not just an Orb issue - it is a Media Player issue.
I just tried surfing over to the WindowsMedia Mobile site. they have a link there for SmartVideo to watch live TV. I tried the demo stream, and switching to full screen rotates the picture 90 degrees, and fills the width of the screen.
Presumably there is a bad or missing registry setting that controls whether it does this or not based on whether the device has a portrait or landscape screen.

The tool doesn't work with wm6. It does nothing when you execute it.
The Rotating Windows Media Player Screen Fix
Is their a fix for the rotating windows media player screen?
I've haven't found it yet.
I to am looking for a fix for this frustrating problem! Someone please help stop the rotation!
JJ
Yes, I'm having the rotated fullscreen issue with windows media player mobile after I installed Windows Mobile 6. I've seen other people elsewhere mention the same issue.
Someone HF was able to fix TCPMP to work with Orb and other streaming sites just copying 2 library files (wmadecoder.dll and wmvdecoder.dll) to the phone's \windows directory.
I tried it with Orb and Windows Media Mobile site and it works fine, but it doesn't solve the wmp issue.
You can use TCPMP until MS/T-Mobile fix wmp.

Thank you Sportech @ HF for posting those files.
getwsted at HF found a solution for the screen rotation issue:
Add the following Key "Rotation" under HKLM\System\GDI\
e.g. [HKLM\System\GDI\Rotation]
Then Add this dword.
"LandscapeMode"=0
It solved my problem with Orb and other Videos with WMP in full screen mode.
Is there a way to stop WMP going out of full screen mode everytime the buffer becomes exhausted and playback pauses? Thats much more annoying than the screen being 180 degrees out!

Hi everyone, i'm new at using a smartphone and am really glad i came across this resourceful forum!
I recently got a HTC HD and managed to figure out how to install coreplayer on the cell, but can't get the video to play at full screen (when the phone is sideway and horizontal, like the PSP)
could someone please help me figure this out? does it have this function? or do i need another player that has this function? i can't seem to find the answer anywhere....please help....
Personally I just tap the video on the screen twice and it goes fullscreen, other than that I think Menu > Options > Fullscreen will do it.
does the video have to be converted or encoded a special way? because i put a normal .avi file in the sd card and played that but it won't go full screen. when i double click or select full screen, the video stays the same. what should i do?
I'm very curious with TV Out Picture Quality? It's better than Touch Pro or not, what about the resolution (still 480x800 on TV or not) ? My dream is use this features to surf internet on my 50 inch HDTV
For what it's worth, I tested it with video and Video-googles - and it works just great.
The video googles are "only" 640x480 , I did not test internet & stuff like that - if I find an old-fashion TV - I'll test .
(in my house, there is only MediaPortal + DLP projector/and 30" displays) - without composite input. - Projector does have, but they are installed so nicely into ceiling, it's hard to get to.)
Here a review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bOD17rMSKI
If you want I can get some pictures of the device showing on an LCD projector tomorrow. Let me know.
Thanks Bro, It would very nice if we can see it on picture , I hope we can view all Pro2 activity on tv out like video call, editing office mobile, reading ebook/comic, playing games and many more that will make Pro2 as our media center, very
OK sorry for the delays people, I haven't forgotten.
All content is hosted on my home server so can't guarantee the speeds or availability.
All photos were taken in a moderately dark room and the images shown on a 78" 4:3 IWB (interactive whiteboard) with a 4:3 projector. Hence the image is letterboxed.
When running in TV-out mode, the phone will REMAIN in landscape mode even when the keyboard closed.
My first tests were with CorePlayer. I was also unable to play and show movies in CorePlayer properly, there was weird blue bands running all over the screen during playback. I also tried the YouTube Player which worked fine though.
Core Player Image showing the blue band issue (it's much more noticeable in the video below).

The quality seems OK but due to the limitations of composite video, you if there is too much fine detail its going to look like s**t. For example check the following shots of Opera both zoomed in and out.

You can see when zoomed out that the text is not very readable.

Comments welcome.
links doesn't seem to be working for me
Since I switched from 6.1 (official rom) to 6.5 (official rom upgrade) the coreplayer started to have a choppy playback. It does not make a difference if I install it on the sd card (class 6) or on the phone itself, same for the videos
I had no problems with videoplayback on the 6.1!
Switching to a custom ROM (6.5.5) but that didn't make the video playback any faster. What can I do?

Make sure you compare performance using a video you have tried before, and you considered it to run faster in WM 6.1.
Then, first thing to try is Video Settings, look for these settings:
Video Output = QTv Display (Other settings produced poor quality for me)
Video Quality = Medium or High
Then go to QTv Display, and make sure this is checked:
"TyTN II" driver mode.
I hope I was able to help you...
As side comments:
- Sometimes videos that have been compressed a lot would loose frames during playback. Sometimes we are too demanding and want to play videos at 800x480, but the TP2 can't really do it well at that resolution. Try a smaller resolution instead when converting your videos.
- In some cases, if the GUI is not using the 3D Accelerator (as with SBP Mobile Shell), CorePlayer performs terrible or even doesn't show the video.

Or you can turn off Manila 3D when playing your videos. This is a known bug with Coreplayer, WM6.5, and Manila on the TP2. Just the TP2. My Topaz doesn't have this problem with the same setup and same Energy rom. Turning off Manila is the easiest workaround. Search the Rhodium forums for a mortscript routine that will shut off Manila, execute Coreplayer, and resume Manila once you exit Coreplayer. A nicer workaround in the long run. But still a workaround.
people have complaining about playback and ive never had a problem. i both upgraded my rom to 2.07 and my coreplayer to the latest version and now im one with choppy playback. not sure what exactly is different i wish i didnt delete my old core player cab so i could test that.

OK disabling Manila is a good idea, but what is the easiest way to shut it down? Everything else is set up correctly. And believe me, I tried each and every setting What I find surprising is that the official 6.5 gave me the same bug. Isn't it using any acceleration ?
EDIT: Windows Media Player does also have very very choppy playback. It does not matter if the files are placed on the SD Card or on the phone itself. Different file types, different file sizes. AVI, WMV, MP4 ... The moment the files have more than ~400kbit the video stutters. If I go into full screen it stutters even more

It started with wm6.5 and Manila 2.x. I noticed even with Manila 2.1 this problem occurred. Only on the Tilt2 - maybe HD2 - I just know this because I own a Fuze and Diamond2 and never saw this problem. It doesn't matter what version of Coreplayer you use - even the one going back to the initial Qtv support. This has more to do with Manila hijacking the video drivers.
I say this because I noticed on a clean reboot the first execution of Coreplayer results in clean video results. But after you close it or load another video the poor performance kicks in. HTC Sense or Manila, running on wm6.5 or higher mind you, does not want other programs taking over the video driver. Not a very scientific explanation I know but this is my observation.

OK I formatted the SD Card. And I even used Task 29 to format the main os! I reinstalled another ROM (6.5 but with Sense 2.1) and the problem remains.
Windows Media Player AND Coreplayer, both have a VERY VERY choppy playback.

HI,
for Me the only ROM wich plays MP4 videos at 30fps with HTCPLAYER.exe at VGA resolution is the Valkirie ROM, and I have tried every main ROM for Rhodium many times each, maybe like 60 flashes or more.
This is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=569507
Wont be dissapointed, and dont need coreplayer for MP4, only for other formats like mpeg.
I hope this helps.
Hi xdaERS,
I've just got my Nexus 7 Wifi 16GB. It's my first Android device and all I can say is it's GREAT.
But I got 2 problem hope that you can help.
1. First, all of us know that Vimeo apps on android is suck. And all I want is watch Vimeo at HD. So, I go to Vimeo website with Chrome + desktop mode. In the past few days, I was able to play Vimeo in HD. But from yesterday to now, I cannot do it anymore. When I click in the play button, video frame change but it doesn't expand to full site and stuck there, no things else happens. Note that I still can play video in SD when access the site (in mobile mode) or in the app. This happens since I uninstall MXPLayer form my Nexus. So the question is what went wrong and how can I fix it ? Am I the only one cannot play HD on vimeo or anybody catch the same error ?
2. I downloaded MX Player 1.7.8 and Armv7 Neon code (the app required me to down this code). But this app doesn't work. It can play video in 30-40s then turn off (back to my app screen), no error appears. It sometimes turn off when I just go to setting menu. So what's wrong with my device ?
Up for helps.
Is there anyone can view HD video on Vimeo website (desktop mode) ?
