Ok, so I was messing around with UI Tweak and changed my window background color to match the HTC default black theme. Got everything the way I liked it, was very smooth looking , and then noticed a little issue. The stupid signal strength bars are tied in with the window background. The antena part stayed white while the 5 bars changed to the charcoal color of background for my Programs and Settings etc. menus. Is there a way to just change the color of the antena strength without affecting my new found love of a complete theme?
Anyone?

I just had a quick thought is it possible to have the wallpaper pan over the menu bar, it wouldn't look great with some wallpapers but with something like this

}
would look great don't you think?
I don't think we can get the title bar to become see thru, the only other way of doing it is to copy the top part of the wallpaper and paste that onto the title_bar.png in framework-res.apk. but then it is hard coded and will look funny when you switch wallpapers.
oh well
oh well just an idea would have been good though
Yeah it would be sweet if we could give it a smoke glass effect. Maybe in time we will be able to.
The thing is also that the wallpaper does not get up "under" the status bar, so even if it was possible to make the statusbar transparent you would not see the wallpaper underneath. The very top of the wallpaper begins beneath the very bottom of the statusbar, they never overlap.
Is it possible to change the display gamma? The screen seems a bit light. What I mean is, black is black and white is white, but the midtones are a little on the bright side.
Please don't tell me to turn the brightness down. That's not the problem.
I have no idea if a setting like this lives anywhere on the system. I am rooted if that matters.
Update: Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the screen is perfect and my old G1 which I'm used to is dark. I just took a screenshot with ShootMe and loaded it on my PC and displayed it on my monitor. Then I compared it to the phone. it is almost exactly identical! I guess the G1 screen is a little blue-ish and a little dark in the midtones. I just got used to it. The wallpaper I had chosen for my G1 looks better on it than on my EVO. It looks bluer and more saturated.
Here's the pic if you're curious. To me the background looks too washed out. But I guess that's just how the original picture was supposed to look.

The attachment says it all... this is a software screenshot, and when I dim the background in the clock, it gets blotchy on the top and bottom. At first I thought it was my screen, bc its such a wide spread issue with blotches/tints/etc. But after taking a screenshot, it has became clear its not my hardware.
Anyone elses like this/is this normal?

Attachment does not say it all at all. Because it's a blue and white question mark... =/
Although your screenshot link is broken, I think I know what you're talking about. It ONLY happens to me when I have a wallpaper that is very dark in some spots. So it seems as though when it dims, the LED's just darken all the way and you get "blotches" where there are black/more than black LED's next to each other.
But lets get this out of the way now, the screenshot isn't going to show the blotches because this is a screen "issue", not a software issue.
Back on Nougat, the title bar of each window when you were in the window selection mode corresponded to the application you were in. Since getting on Oreo, all of them are blue! I tried a bunch of different dark themes, some made them green, I think one even made them all black but it was so much easier to find what application to switch to when they were different colors. Any way to get that back? Screenshot of what I'm talking about

Could you tell me which black theme turned those title bars to black?
It didn't turn them all black - each app has a different color based on the color scheme of the app.
OK thanks, do you know how to turn the pop-ups menu boxes to black on Oreo? - it's very frustrating seeing all the menus white all the time..
Not sure if this is a chrome thing or a oneplus thing, but the white status bar and the white background and the white tab borders is really hard to look at. Am I missing a setting somewhere or is this googles vision of the design?

It's a Google/Chrome thing since the latest Chrome v69 update. And yes, that's the direction their Material design is going to ... Material has always been going for bright colors more than dark ones.
There's no official way to get rid of this second sun as Chrome's default background. Maybe it can be done with substratum or something like that, haven't tried.

I never use chrome on a phone, either using aosp browser/firefox for the add-on, but damn that white is burning my eyes...
I see why people complaining now, never really bother figuring it out lol
