Hi!
I just started using an I mate JasJam. I have upgraded to HTC WM 6 ROM last day. I would like to know if there is any way to display the service provider name on the Today screen. I have seen the same displayed on O2 XDA. Technically they are the same handset. I have heard that the service providers customize their handsets. Anyways, I have searched a lot in this forum for an answer.. As I couldnt find one, thought of starting a thread. If anyone has got any info regarding this, please share, it would be highly appreciated!
You can try:
"Wireless" today plugin
Battery Status today plugin
HTC Home today plugin
They all show the operator name along with some other information on today screen.
Thanks a trillion buddy!!

I'm using Syswatch and MyPhone here on my MDA compact.
Some guys around here seem to have slight problems with using some of JGUI's programs  , but I didn't encounter any problems with MyPhone. At the moment I don't really use it (it's installed, but not active in today screen), because the signal strengh is shown in the upper task bar (even viewable if security panel is active) and the service provider can be identified within phone app - that's enough for me.

Fantastic. Ive converted to corporate mode and my XDAIIs has not been reset once. Ive got a battery monitor on (not as good as o2s but its ok) and all seems ok. Has anyone told o2 that its their software which is at fault??? Ive complained to them to the point that they replaced my XDAIIs foc but if they new the answer they could get to work on fixing it and in the meantime tell customers with the problems how to fix it.
ALSO.....
Ive seen some cool today screens with weather reports on. Im not bothered enough to pay for the software but if there is a freeware free version I would like it. Anyone know of a freebie version with UK weather reporting for today screen??
hey, where did you get your battery monitor from?
Best thing I found was SPB Pocket Plus. Loads of utilities and a good battery meter.
Cheers,
Bret

The weather reports are Journal Bar, I use this on my IPAQ, when I loaded on the the IIs it works but its always downloading updates to the news, weather etc. (gets a tad costly over GPRS) - I couldn't find a setting to stop it doing this so I took it off. Finally I fully agree with you on Corp mode, with the new O2 ROM loaded its not had a reset in a week, and worked perfectly all the time Mike
why not use O2 plus? that doesnt crash BA and is pretty smart... also has battery monitor, sum1 on here has posted, do a search.
Twiglet, the ammount of trouble I experianced with the OS active interface nearly made me give the device back! - sure it works for some but not all, it depends what software you want to run - I never want to see it again!! - but appreciate for some it may well do the bizz - Mike
Hi,
About two months ago during one of the numerous rom flashings on my SPVM3100 , I came across a strange issue. I called Orange many times and they changed my SIM card twice but finally said they don't understand this and gave it up. My SPVM3100 is over two years old - so they're not gonna replace the device.
Here's the issue:
whenever someone leaves me a voice mail, instead of receiving the normal "voice mail" notification and it's icon in Today screen, I receive a text message! These texts are unreadable (consisting of only 2 signs, like a triangle sign and an @ sign. Or an @ sign with an underline sign _).
Whenever I receive such texts , I know that I have a voice mail ! I dial the voice mail service, listen to the voice message and delete it. But each time my voice mail box becomes empty another annoying text is sent to me - perhaps cofirming that the mail box is now empty (I wish I could read this new sign language )
The phone shows that the texts are coming from the SIM Card !! (so we thought that perhaps the SIM has problems and that's why Orange changed my SIM Card twice).
This is really annoying.
The Orange tech people exhausted their knowledge for the past 2 months but couldn't solve this problem , gave it up altogether , and are now asking me to contact HTC ! (which I'm sure would be useless).
That's why I'm asking this from xda developers and gurus to see if they have any explanation for this bizarre behavior of my device.
Thanks for any insight and sorry to make a thread for this annoying issue.
have you tried flashing with a different rom? i know similar things would happen on motorola phones, and required hex editing of certain files to turn that feature off.

Fallen,
A six-month-old critically annoying problem was solved in 30 seconds
I am sure we all know xda developers and gurus are genius.
As I said in the post, almost all technical guys & gals in Orange did literally exhaust all their knowledge & experience in the past six months to solve this issue but it was obvious that they didn't absolutely have any clue what the cause of the problem was; whereas Olipro had found the cause and the remedy very quickly.
This is really serious because Orange is a huge multi-billion corporation and they claim to have their own top developers/programmers/technicians and yet they shamelessly suck !
Now on to my second question :
On almost all original (HTC and AT&T) ROMs , the HTC Home Plugin shows the network as "Orange". But on some of the cooked ROMs the network is shown as "UMTS Orange". I know the meaning of UMTS and I understand that whether the network is shown as "Orange" or "UMTS Orange" the phone appears to function the same.
I just want to know what happens in some cooked ROMs that the phone recognizes the network of the SIM card as "UMTS Orange" and not the usual "Orange" ? I talked to some Orange technicians, their replies are really rediculous - one of them kept saying: "you must change your mobile settings" ! But she didn't have a clue what she was talking about as she didn't know where those damn "mobile settings" were and how they could be changed! I can swear she had never held an SPVM3100 or a Kaiser in her hand.
I've searched the forum but haven't been able to find a clear answer yet. I am asking this question just to improve my personal knowlege on this issue.
Thank you for your guidance and insight.
hey,
I get the same problem too when installing new Cooked ROMs.
In order to get rid of the 'UMTS' in front of the Operator name you have to edit a registry entry.
Use a registry editor and navigate to: HKLM---> Software---->OEM---->Phone Setting
In there find an entry labelled 'Enable3GLongName' And change it from 1 to 0.
Restart you're device and it should just say 'Orange'
Hope that works

Thanks bro. Yesterday, before reading your reply I reflashed my device and
this nwe Binky11's V3.8 ROM got it right. So for now, I don't need to do the registery; however, I made a note of your advice for future reference.
I should keep reading to see what happens in most cooked WM6.1 ROMs that they get the network name as such and why the original ROMs get it right.
Thank you very much for your reply.
Hi there,
I am new to XDA, have heard a lot about it and hope you guys can help me - apologies in advance if this is an issue with my service provider rather than the phone.
Got my HOX off ebay yesterday, in amazing condition and everything running well. Had to change from a standard orange sim to an EE microsim, so rang up and got that sorted.
The phone is functioning perfectly, however I have one annoying issue to do with the network the phone is displaying that it is on. When you pull down the notification bar, it normally states your network at the top left, on my device instead of finding "Orange" or "EE", I see "@@@@@@..."
Has anyone come across this before, anyone know what is wrong and how I can fix this? I have been in contact with orange and they were frankly, pretty useless. I had the settings resent out to my sim but that hasn't sorted the issue.
I have hopefully attached a couple of screenshots that illustrate my issue, thanks for your help, I can find nothing on the internet about this, just hoping someone else has experienced the same.
