Unbricked but No Service? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Ok just recently unbricked my phone and started flashing once again. First I did the HARD SPL change from 2.03 to 2.10 Olipro. I flashed the current vp3G a few times but I was getting no phone service. I flashed the schaps and it did the same. My was getting no service and when I clicked on settings it said this.
Unknown SIM status.
Only emergency calls can be made without a PIN.

Did some googling and found some sources where it said my default PIN was either 1111 or 2222. I went ahead and called ATT and explained to them I was getting no service but of course never mentioned I had a cooked ROM. They said the same that the default was 1111. Of course for some reason when I was talking to them I could not get to the settings to enter it. I told them I would call them back.
Finally got to enter it in and nothing. It is still not working. I'm in some desperate need of suggestions. Thank You.

Flash the OEM ROM from your provider. This should get your service back if your using a legit SIM

i see you have unbricked your phone, try loading up a new radio
http://rapidshare.com/files/60589318/radio1.54.07.00.rar

oh yea, thats the radio im using for my 8525, its the updated version 1.54 it works pretty well, hope that fixes your problem

I have that same problem but it seems that changing the radio does not work, although I havent tried every single radio. Some radios will give say i have no service even when i don't have the sim card in (it should be saying no sim)

This might help
If you are in USA and if you have a CINULAR sim card in your phone go to a AT&T store for a FREE AT&T sim card. It might resolve the issue as AT&T just changed some settings in some towers.

That is how I bricked my phone in the first place. Could not flash OEM either 2.15 or the most recent 3.62 WM6 upgrade.

When I got unbricked I updated my SPL like you mentioned and now I'm running 2.10. I did try to update the radio but that also got locked up and had to hard reset to get it back. I was trying 1.54 also.

No I have not.

More reading and more reading. Ok I realize I have no GSM and no Radio. When I try to install radio it gets stuck on 0% then locks me out. Then I'm stuck in the Tri-Color mode and am forced to reflash ROM. I'm thinking "Problem 5" is the problem I'm having but can anyone confirm or help me out please.

warranty?
How far into your warranty are you, assuming you're still under warranty? Same thing happened to me. I played stupid with AT&T tech support (then Cingular), had no distinguishable drop marks or water damage, and they replaced it under warranty I even had it stuck on the bootloader screen If you're still under warranty, try to load an oem rom back on it and see if you can get them to replace it.

Unfortunatley im out of warranty

Is there anyway to completely erase everything that is on the hermes at once? except for the stuff on the eeprom, i already had to deal with that

can no one help us?

i heard from my friend who works at an att non corp store that just recently non corp stores were given the ability to give the new contract discounts. that he just has to make a 5 min call and it gets approved and they can offer you the 2yr discount although it might extend your contract.
reason im saying this is even if your not up for an update, any att store should be able to (if the guy chooses to be helpful) hook you up with the discount regardless of how long or how little you've been in contract.
just food for thought in case you cant find a solution.

when I reset my device i see no GSM ocassionaly, well since an hour ago, its been saying nothing but No GSM, I have tried to fix it using the unbrick direction in the wiki, but to no avail.

Can a t-mobile tp2 flashed with a cdma rom be brought back to a gsm radio rom?

Hi. Can a T-mobile HTC TOUCH PRO2 (US version) which was stupidly flashed with a SPRINT CDMA ROM be brought back to GSM by reflashing it with a GSM flash ROM file using a PC running Windows? If so, where can I obtain the flash ROM file from, as well as the utility to flashing it back with.
PS: HTC Techs wouldn't help me except telling me to send it in so they can charge me more than I already paid for this phone already. Thanks in advance for helping or trying to help.

Well, my "know-it-all" buddy who's had great success with tinkering & flashing my other phones, B-R-I-C-K-E-D this one. Now he and I have been through the gamut on trying to reset this TP2 with the problems listed in another thread here using forum members' suggestions as well as the resetting tips for this model found on HTC.com with no success. So I had a thought in my sleep. Maybe, just maybe, I can reflash it?
Symptoms: There is no screen on this phone now. My PC tries to recognize it for about 1 minute or two, after it displays it's hardware signature in Device Manager 2-3 minutes showing up as "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM" with an exclamation point under "Other Devices", then, the phone's hardware signature disappears from my hardware list in Windows 7's Device Manager listing. It didn't do that before.
"My Other thread" referring to all I did in trying to revive this phone with the help of other members here.

You should be able to connect the USB, go into bootloader mode, and then run update the ROM. You should probably run task29 first to clear the memory. If you can't get the USB to work, you can flash from your SD card. Check the first several posts of the ROM forum, rather than this GENERAL forum.
find an official T-mobile HTC TOUCH PRO2 rom and flash it.
and if your device has hard-spl then you can flash any full gsm rom.

Nope no good. These tips all expect some sort of interactivity between the use & the phone present like being able to go into bootloader mode or expecting something visual on the screen. My TP2 doesn't do anything after flashing it with the CDMA process (provided by the Rhodium.htc-unlocks.com website), except turn on the little orange LED ever couple of minutes until the battery just dies out.
You now have a nice paper weight or brick. Flashing a cdma radio and/or bootloader/unlocker is NOT reversible. If you had only flashed a cdma rom then that could have been reversed.

If you cant get into bootloader I'm almost certain that means the phone's bricked. I realize that's likely not the information you want to here but you need at least a FEW things working on the thing to be able to flash it to a different rom. Bootloader being one of them.
If you cant get into bootloader mode, then i dont currently know any other way of reviving the device at home.sorry.

RMA usually it's totally free you only have to pay to send in the phone. I know cause I did the same thing kind of... I flashed a GSM rom on a CDMA phone and totally bricked it. My phone connection led didn't light up when connected. Then I call HTC, they sent me to call another company that handles US Cellular and got it RMA paid only shipping.
If your led connection lights up there might be a possibility you can flash your stock rom with a clean Micro SD Card. Just search for this method on the forums, it has been a working life saver to many.

The only thing that might work is to go back over the the CDMA forum and find out how the CDMA version invokes the bootloader. Maybe it is different than the GSM version? If you can't get to bootloader you are in trouble.

Bear in mind that (I believe) the OP said he Hard-SPL'd the device. I've seen numerous tales on here, of HTC declining to repair under warranty in those cases, citing 'Illegal software'. They usually then quote a couple of hundred dollars to change the motherboard, or a fee to return the phone unrepaired (the fee is their charge for the diagnostics).
I have the same error. Any new guess? In my country there aren't HTC repair stores

Orange Network locked unlock sim after OTA update

Hello,
Need some help.
Unbranded my desire today which went well. It asked me if I wanted to update the software OTA which I clicked yes to. This is where it all went wrong, phone now comes up with Network locked unlock sim.
Can anyone help me get round this, I read a thread a couple of days ago where someone had the same problem but I can't for the life of me find it. Any help would be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Hi there mate. I dont know the answer to your problem but can say that no one else has ever posted that exact error. Can you confirm the EXACT wording of the error and and numbers it may throw. If its already correct (including any punctuation) it seems you have a very unique problem.

It may not have been here but I think it was.
Basically it was a branded Orange Desire.
After much reading I decided that I wanted to get of all the Orange stuff that comes bundled and cannot be removed.
I followed a guide to de-brand the phone which worked perfectly. When I first turned the phone on and checked the software update it said 1 update was available, I chose to download and install the update. When I checked the phone version it was 2.1update 1 (I think).
Turned the phone off and on again and went back into the software update and was offered another update which I assumed was Froyo, chose to download and install that via wifi. Everything seemed to work but when the phone rebooted it came up with the following message "SIM network unlock PIN" there is no other error code and it wants an 8 digit code.
Called Orange and played dumb and they said that they would send me a new phone but I've told them to hold off for now.
Thank in advance.
Hmmm looks like you may have flashed a Branded ROM for another provider which I didn't thik had any effect on provider locks. But in the lack of help from anywhere else you could always try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748105 which is what I did on my Virgin Mobile UK Branded and locked phone. SOrry I cant help further
You could buy an unlock code online..That should sort it.
It looks like your using an incompatible radio. Which version are you using? To find out go to settings - about phone then it should be baseband version?

really pleased mate well done! Its scary **** when you may have to pay out for the bugger lol
good advice in this thread
Got it up and running yet?
If not, take the SIM out and find the software version in settings. If it's something like:
x.xx.405.x
then you have an unbranded ROM which most people have had issues with with Orange phones. You could try updating to Froyo if the OTA update is still available as that should flash a working radio or just buy an unlock code for about a tenner that would be best in the long run.
Just to let you know that the latest radio is compatible with orange (I have it) its 5.09.00.20. Shouldn't sim lock your phone. Good luck. Hope you get it sorted.

i am sure its an incorrect radio take your sim out and you should have access , i ended up rooting the device using revoke one click method very easy just follow carfully then i installed a custom rom and a new radio
this is the orange one for bootloader 0.75 "update-bravo-radio-32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11-signed" all working great the rom i used was "Official_FroYo_Market_fixed"
hope this helps actually just upgraded radio to 5.09 with no problem
Yeah got this sorted peeps.
Didn't mess around looking up radio's or anything like that.
This is what happened to me.
1. Debranded Orange Desire from 2.1update1 to Generic 2.1
2. Upgraded OTA from Generic 2.1 to 2.1update1
3. Was offered and accepted update to Froyo
4. Got error saying SIM locked unlock sim
5. Put Froyo ROM onto SD card and loaded it via recovery
6. Enjoyed having the last laugh over Orange technical support
Thank you to jamesmcuk who's post (I think it was 4 or 5) resolved my problem, would suggest the same process to anyone else who had the same problem that I had.
On another note, how do I check what radio version I have and if it's upto date?

Sim locked after flashing

Hi,
I have an Acer Liquid E for half a year now, and decided to flash a custom ROM on it.
I Flashed it with LiquidNext without any problems, but my GPS software didn't work on it.
So i flashed it back with a standard ROM.
The problem starts here...
The ROM I found, downloaded an flashed my phone with, was one for Fido devices only.
I didn't notice the message that it's for Fido phones only in the thread of that site *dumb me*, so I flashed the Fido ROM to my Liquid E *still dumb me*.
Problem is: My phone asksk for a code to unlock my sim card, because it thinks it is a Fido device...
I don't have such code, so I have a huge problem.
I already paid for a code, but I still have to hear that my phone has no matching unlock code.
Pretty obvious, because my phone is not a standard Fido phone, so the IMEI code has no match.
But my question is: How can I unlock my device?
I already tried:
www .acer-club. fr/viewtopic.php?f=89&t=814
(remove space after www and before fr; can't post links yet)
and also to put another ROM on it.
But nothing seems to help.
Can one of you pro's help me?
Thanks in advance!

I did. I tried 5 different services (ebay, unlock sites...), but no one could help.
Everybody refunded the money because they couldn't find a code for my phone.
They say that it's because it was no Fido phone at first, so there is no code availiable.

No, I didn't remove the sim, didn't thought it was necessary. But the SIM works fine on my old nokia, so that's not the problem I think.
I already tried to download it again, but it doesn't help.
I've read somewhere that it could be the radio ROM. Is this possible?

@aaki_rocker
I tried other sim, but still the same...
Hardware is not broken, because he sees the sim, but just can't connect to the network.
@s1m1
No themes availiable that can disable the sim lock...
Any more suggestions?
(thanks for the great help so far!)
Sorry for the double post, but it seems that it could be solved by flashin the stock radio rom.
So if anyone could help me with the stock radio rom, I would be thankful!

[Q] This has stumped everyone so far...

Okay, I have a PLAY 4G that I got from AT&T so it's an 800at. Used it with AT&T for about a month, canceled, got the unlock code form them. Switched to T-Mobile prepaid $50 plan, used it for around 5 months. A few months into T-mobile I rooted it with Super One Click, everything was fine. Now a few months later my signal to T-mobile started cutting in and out 2 days ago. After about an hour or two of losing the network it finally never came back. I did all the standards, resetting, popping battery in and out, etc. Still didn't work with T-mobile, tried SIM in another phone, it works fine. Also got a new SIM from T-Mobile, no difference. Unrooted phone with Super One Click and no difference, did all the resets and battery in and out. Still won't work with or even see T-Mobile. Put an active AT&T SIM in and it works fine! So it seems the phones hardware is fine and the SIM is fine. My last hope is I have a software/firmware problem. One thing that's weird is after the master reset the Home button stopped working and when the joypad is slid out it doesn't switch automatically to games. Phone always says "Emergency Calls Only". Please help, I'm running out of idea's.
I do believe APN's are the problem.
Had to deal with the same thing when I switched to straight talk.
Game stuff and the home button seems like a software issue.
Reflash 2.3.3 stock for AT&T phones. Should be fine after you reset the APNs
Still Stumped
Thank you for your input, I deleted my T-Mobile APN and re-entered it, and it's still not finding the network. I've been wanting to reflash the original firmware back on. Do you know if I have to unlock the bootloader to do that? I was going to try a different ROM but my warranty is still in effect for 6 more months. I'm thinking reflashing the original ROM shouldn't need the bootloader unlocked. I also need to find the original ROM to reflash it with. Is it safe to reflash a generic Xperia PLAY ROM instead of AT&T bloatwares ROM?
I would use flashtool to reflash the AT&T ftf, then just manually input the APN settings for T-Mobile. That should do the trick. IF you try and still a no go I would unroot and soo about a warranty replacement.
You already voided your warranty when you rooted..
Can they know that you had rooted it if you unroot it?
Sent from my R800i using XDA
I may be wrong but I thought that if you ftf back to stock they will not necessarily be able to se you have rooted your phone? As its fresh out of the box firmware....

No, flashing an ftf file still holds root and it evident. You can unroot, then reroot if need be,but personally I've never unrooted
Thanks for all the input everyone!
Thank you for all the responses, I will try flashtool this evening and report back what I get. In terms of root, my research has led me to believe that rooting/unrooting is undetectable. But unlocking the bootloader cannot be covered up, Sony has records of all bootloader activity. But I could be wrong, just tossing in my two pennies.
It's fixed!
I used flashtool and reflashed the original software back to the phone and it's good as new again. Thank you everyone for your input! I wish I could tell you what caused the problem, but I'm happy I could at least relay what the fix was.

[Q] AT&T Deactivated my SIM for Rooting / Flashing??

can AT&T deactivate my SIM or block my IMEI if they detect a custom ROM?....my SIM is not working anymore I Rooted . FreeGee'd and Restored to this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419802
I got 4G LTE fine (after changing to a different "pta" APN) but couldn't call. Found out I flashed the baseband for the E988 instead of the E980. I went to CWM and flashed the proper AT&T E980 baseband after a CWM wipe and restore again....my Sim still wasn't working
I saw some things that AT&T can deactivate a SIM if they detect a break in...can i just buy a new SIM?
I used the LGFlashTool. flashed back to stock completely. (relocked and unrooted) and it still gives me the red "X" near the signal strength and it won't save APN's
contacted online tech support said that "AT&T deactivated my SIM card as they thought my phone was being broken into and they thought it was stolen" is this something new? can I just get a new SIM at the AT&T store?
i've rooted and flashed an (including my significant other, co-workers at various places of work and my own handsets) HTC thunderbolt, HTC rezound, 2 Galaxy SIII's, a LG Optimus S, LG Optimus V, ZTE Warp,Galaxy SII, and even a Droid Razr and I have NEVER had the provider deactivate the Sim card because of hacking.
was the tech support person "Andy" trying to scare me?..is it true?..or did I bork the SIM by flashing the wrong baseband the first time?...because my SIM still isn't working
any advice would be greatly appreciated!

No just go in tell them your SIM card isn't working and you need another.. those people working at the att store don't care if your rooted or running custom roms.. unless your trying to do a warranty return...
sim card replacement should be free also
turns out....it wasn't the SIM card....new one was put in and it still didn't work..the guy looked at the IMEI and it said unknown....had no idea how it got there...but made a jab at LG for making cheap phones and said "theres a reason why we dont carry LG" .fortunately I was still in the return window process and got an exchange same day at a nearby corporate store...do you think it was something I did?
either way..not rooting or flashing until a year has passed

Thought I had read on some of the ROM threads that flashing an incorrect baseband can cause some major issues, such as wiping out your IMEI...
You simply needed to use LGFlashtools to return to stock and your phone would have been fixed. Always make a backup of your currently 'FULLY' working Rom that way if something goes wrong, you can return to stock and be up and running. What happened was that your baseband was incorrect after flashing the wrong modem. Flashing the correct modem didn't fix it fully because that partition became corrupt. Restoring a fully functional backup would have fixed that issue.
Glad you got your phone returned though. Hopefully they don't bill you when they see that your phone is rooted and hacked. They might.

oh no problem..they gave me a new phone because i returned it back to stock using the LG FlashTool
It was your own fault not the phones. Flashing an baseband not meant for your phone will cause this...
