i was downloading the official WM6 update (bleh!) cause i need to send my Trinity in for servicing.. but i noticed at the download page a comment that after upgrade to WM6, the device can't be downgraded to WM5..
i was just curious if anyone else noticed this and cared to comment on it. Are they just trying to be scary? or does the official IPL stop you from downgrading to official WM5?
p.s... thinking of getting a TYTN II.. what do you guys think?
Already did that without any problem...
They're just trying to scare us poor folks

Hi
I am going to start using my PDA2K again as a temporary replacement for the Vodafone V1620 I am giving up on.
My PDA2K has the 1.4 rom with 1.12 Radio.
BEFORE I go to all the trouble of reloading all my programs, data etc.
Should I be doing any upgrades?
And is there a real 'stupid persons' guide to doing the upgrade?
Cheers.

25 Post and you have not been to wiki ???
Link in sig
Well yes I have been there.
But I have to be honest and say that much of it was WAY over my head.
All this talk of cooking this and that, external roms......
I am not sure I have seen an idiots guide and I REALLY need one.

Well we have a page on how to upgrade to the lateest 1.42 rom which if followed is prity close to an idiots guide (bar the fact we have not mentioned that you need to turn on your pc to do it).
This will get you a rom that smeels of even stinks of t-mobile.
Maybe you can live with that (I have in the past).
If you can't then you need to learn about cooking your EXT rom.
UPgrading is not a past time that should be taken up by "Idiots" (your wording) as this can lead to a paper Wheigt that looks like a BlueAngel.
When I came to this site I had a German MDAIII running on a Swiss network. All I wanted was a god damm English rom which T-Mobile would not give me, I-mate how ever would.
This site has alllowed me to understand how to upgrade, given me the files to do this and answerd a lot of my question (only after I learnt how to ask them).
Given your situation with 1.40 and 1,12 radio I can only sugest that upgrade the radio (link in wiki ) to 1.13.
So far I have not seen any issue that have been fixed with 1.42 as in confirmed that they have been fixed. However If I was to falsh me device again I would use the 1.42.
Have fun.
hi MDAIIIuser,
I am on 1.40 rom now and still debating if its worthwhile upgrading to the 1.13 radio. What are your thoughts on this?
1.12 seems to work ok for me so far.
I thought for a simple solution I would upgrade just the radio and maybe the bluetooth.
When I followed the link on Wiki for radio 1.13 I got a .rar file.
What is one of these?
My PC does not have a clue what to do with it.
I have to explain that I am not PC computer literate being a long term Mac user that 'just works' some of this Windows stuff makes me want to swear. )

Comes with MSFP but not A2DP as expected, but one suprise is that it has been bundled with radio 1.03 - obviously they think this is the most stable?
Can be downloaded by anyone here:

If you flash, post your experiences here... as I will...
I found that there have a massage with AKU2 come form the link you provide
the massage form offical as below;
How to download and install your new M5000 AKU 2 ROM.
The ROM posted on this website has AKU 2/Messaging and Security Feature Pack functionality. This is not a ‘patch’ – rather this is a total ROM replacement. Please ensure that any data you currently have on your M5000 is backed up.

Yes, it's A2DP it doesn't come with (stereo bluetooth). The AKU2 update includes MSFP.

yes
Is A2DP included?
Presumably it is possible to replace the 1.03 radio rom with the 1.09 or even simply exclude the radio update if already running 1.09?

I'd imagine so. I'll give it a whirl later, without the radio ROM, and let you know.
it's possible with noid update... I just updated without the radio...
Nice one. Cheers!

M5000 rom update
I'm asuming that this radio has not changed at all. can anyone confirm?
I'm running 1.09 radio from imate update and I'm not sure if it's worth updating at all. Orange have come in too late again and with this radio I don't see the point in all the hastle.

This post problem is not me as far as I no. Why is there a previous post problem I not aware of? I've not noticed any other than this.
Anyway I've updated To new Orange Rom and it appears that my earlier problem ( delay in ringing etc ) thought to be radio. Is now no longer since upgrade.
Is upgrade worth it?
In my opinion if anyone is interested YES

According to T-Mobile UK there is no WM6 upgrade for the Vario II. When I told him I was using it he said I had just invalidated my warranty!!
Ralf
is not this old news ????
has anyone actually tried this?
also, if i update with this, will it remove hard spl? i have spl 2.10.olipro
im curious as to how well the radio rom works
I tried it on my 8525 because I'm tired of having MMS issues, but I still had them after. However I still had spl 2.10 after installing it. It updates the radio though.
I'm in the process of going back to the HTC WM6 as we speak. and back to radio 1.47.
If anyone has a good way to get my MMS working properly let me know.
T-mobile US, east coast.
I love my iPaq to death. I really do. But I want to stab Windows Moblie 5 in the eye IN THE EYE. Particularly since I have version 1.0.1. Can some kind folks recommend me the version/custom-build of WM6 that works best with the hx2xxx or even better the hx24xxb? I am eternally in your debt for saving me from the monster that is WM5.
Sincerely,
GK
Hello? Anyone?
check my website out, http://wm6.flyingarizona.net
Alright, I'm running into problems. I can hard-reset just fine, but when I try to get into the white bootloader, I just get a white screen, no USB anything. I've tried both 1.02.00 h and 1.00.00 h. Both do the same thing. Also, when I try to flash to the WM6 rom, I get an Invalid SKU error... I realize you guys are all very busy and tired of the WM6 problems, but could someone PLEASE help me?
Read this thread:

I think you will find all the answers
dpdurst, I have check your website, and notice that the ROM is for Hx2750, I have an iPAQ hx2495b with 192 mb ROM. Do you think if it will work for me?
Thanks
The roms for hx2000 series work and your device. And I think that the procedure is the same or very similar like for hx2490b, and for this reason I suggest the thread at my above post.
Hi dancer_69, I have just yesterday upgrade my hx2495b to WM6 using dpdurst ROM. But I have a question, why I cannot user messenger?
Just download an updated version, I think you can find it here in the forum. Use search
Hello everyone,
sorry for posting this noob questions here, I see that you all are discussing software development and stuff, but it is the only place I've found to ask about it.
My situation: I have a Dell Axim X51v wich is still on warranty and CompleteCare (until march 2009!). It has a WM5 A04 Portuguese Rom wich is very unstable and quite lame (I don't like the system in portuguese!) and I'm looking forward to use the WM6 Football Rom, that everywhere I read says its very nice.
The fact is: If I had to call Dell for support, I'll need to give them the Ax with the WM5 Portuguese rom. I really consider this since the device isn't brand new and if something happens I don't want to loose it.
So, what I need to know is how (and if it is possible of course) to get the image of my Ax as it is now, to store in a safe copy on my pc or a cd, upgrade to Football's WM6 (wich version, btw? I see that there are RTM and Preview A06 on the thread) and then eventually get it back to my current rom, if I need to use the warranty. I know that the upgrade part is well documented around the internet, but the downgrade to the same or similar system is the major doubt.
I'll be grateful for any help. I'm new to all this and there are lots of knowledge around. Never had any experience flashing, just upgraded my ROM one time with the official procedure from HP, on my old Ipaq.
Thanks!!
I do not recommand to install the new file because they will broke dell warranty (I know you still come back to A12 rom but for potugal rom I don't know.
Well, I guess since you can flash a different language ROM of a different OS you could turn back to the other... or does there are problem flashing into an "older" version rom? (mine is A04 brazilian)
Anyway, thanks for the reply!
My WM5 is crashing frequently and I don't know why... I've installed some old dictionaries and maybe they messed it up. As I think on hard-reseting it, I consider the system upgrade, since WM5 is stupidly slow sometimes...
anyone else know about this rom switch-around?
I guess that if I have to call Dell, or my Ax is usable and I can switch the rom or it is unusable and probably they won't note that it was hacked! What about that?
