so i often have the dash on vibrate but it is the same for a text and email. is there a way to set vibration for email to like a pulsing vibration or something where i can tell that it is an email while the phone is still in my pocket? are there any programs that will let me do this if it isn't built in somewhere?

I been using several different cooked WM6 rom for the past few months and the vibrate changes in WM6.
In WM5 the vibrate is like one long continually vibrate for about 6 seconds or so but whenever I Flash WM6 roms the vibrate will start pusling like 1 second then pause then 1 second and pause for about 6 second total.
I am not feeling the pulsing vibrate or keep missing it when it in my thick pants pocket or jacket and I been trying to find a setting or regedit to restore the vibrate back to one continually vibrate like it was in WM5.
I have search with no luck and does anyone know how to change the vibrate pulse and timing in WM6 or setting for the vibrate?
I know it WM6 rom because vibrate goes back to what is was when I go back to WM5.
Thank You
Bill
Have you tried going to phone>menu>options>phone and set the keypad setting to long tones and the ring type to vibrate and ring, this is how I have mine set up and it is one long vibrate.

Yeah I tried that and it works when phone rings but it the text message or emails or IM notifications etc that I wanted to have long vibrate like on the WM5 and it still pulse vibrate with the phone setting on long vibrate.
Sorry I should had added in my previous post that it was the notifications from txt or mms or emails or IM that I am trying to set long vibrate to but thanks for trying!
Thank you
Bill
does anyone know if there a binary in the registery that I can change the pulsing vibrate to one long vibrate in notification?
Thanks
Bill
ok so i keep my phone on vibrate at work but sometimes dont hear it buzz on the desk and im noticing that with outlook it wont light up when i recieve a email like it lights up with a incoming txt. is there any way to force the screen to turn on/light up with a incoming direct push email?
I'll bring this topic to the top with the opposite question:
How to disable the phone from lightening up when sms arrives?
A lot of "automated" stuff then happenes when walking around with a live device in my pocket ...
no way to disable the lighting up.. best advice on that route is to use a keypad locker so i dont hit buttons on accident..
Note: my phone is usually in silent mode (only vibrates for all notifications).
When I am in a phone call and someone texts me, the phone is not vibrating to let me know I have received a text. My Evo did this, and it is a great way to be notified while in a phone call. Wish I could get this phone to do the same thing.
Does anyone have any suggestions on any settings, apps, mods, etc. to change this?

I had this same problem with other Samsung phones. My moment never notified me audibly while I was in-call, either, until I applied a ROM that took the SMS app from some US Cellular phone.
Try Go SMS, it has options for audible or vibrate notifications... It will even allow you to customize the vibrate pattern if you like.
Did you try setting vibrate to always?
Does anyone know why the custom vibration or any vibration setting I set in options don't work for gmail notifications? I set 3 short vibrates, but gmail still vibrates one long one.
I have set custom vibrates in-app for the others that matter-- whatsapp and gosms, but I can't seem to customize the gmail one properly.
I would like to figure out how to change the one long vibrate for default notifications too. I believe the custom pattern you're referring to in the settings only applies to phone calls, not notifications. I wish there was a separate setting for notification vibrations. So changing this may require root if there's not a custom app wrote for this.
Has anyone else noticed that when in vibrate mode ALL notifications vibrate regardless of their app settings? It's rather annoying and previous phones weren't like this. My S7e still followed per app vibrate settings (eg mail app). On the s8+ i get a vibrate for every single email i receive regardless of the fact no vibration option is selected in the app.
Seems to be a bit of a bug....
