Help with Internet Settings - P3600 ROM Development

Hi,
I would like some help with the internet settings.
I am with the 'Hutchison 3;' network in Australia and the GPRS connection is set up to aututoma3 Home site.
I also have a 3Netaccess account which i want to be able to automatically switch across when accessing non '3' pages. And then back if i want to access 'My 3 Home' etc which generally uses the url http://www.three.net.au prefix.
How do i set this up automatically?
Thanks

I don't think you can automate it in Windows Mobile.
There may be an app that will do it for you somewhere....

Auto Network Connection

I've just purchased my O2 Xda IIs and am wondering if there is a way to do this:
IE seems to be one of the programs that automatically connect to Internet using the first default in Network Management.
Is there a way to force it to use the network connection of my choice?
Here's my problem?
When I'm in field, I want to use Optus GPRS Internet settings. (This is slow and doesn't work well in office due to poor reception.)
When I'm in the office, I want to automatically use My Work Network which is wireless.
In order to force IE to use My Work Network, when indoors I must manually change settings in Settings/Connections/Connections/Advanced/Select Networks
This is time consuming and something you sometimes forget to do when moving from field to office quickly.
Thanks!
Marvin
When I turn on Wifi, it automatically changes my selection from MTCTouch WAP (my WAP provider) to My ISP, which works because I use a default gateway and not a proxy server.
Anyway, I'd love to be able to make it automatically select a network of my choice, or even switch IP address depending on which Wifi network I'm connected to. Does anyone know of this?

WM6 VPN dialer

Hi,
I have S710 - Hermes - DASH. Windows Mobile 6
I have setup the VPN profile with appropiate my personal vpn server ip at home and information in 'Settings' --> 'Connections' --> VPN --> New.
I connected to Wi-Fi or using Cellular data, I could browse the Internet but I could not find where I can launch, or execute this VPN profile.
Any Help please.
Thanks,
Please also shoot the reply msg threat to my email. very appreciate your help.
Hi timolthy,
in WM 2003 there was a link in the menu that opens when you click on the G or 3G icon in the taskbar. For some reason we less minded will never understand Microsoft decided that this practical feature was redundant.
They did the same with the WIFI button from WM5 to WM6.
So the only way I know to dial VPN connections is either to rely on that buggy automatism, that might dial it, when you access a certain IP range (you can specify that range in the vpn settings) or you can go to control panel, connections and edit that vpn connection. Right click on the connection, there's a item called "dial".
These are the only possibilities I know of :-(

BlackBerry Connect working great, but browsing web not working

IE gives "Cannot connect with your current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings."
Not sure what to do there.
Blackberry Browser gives
"The BlackBerry Browser could not be repaired, please contact your system administrator."
Not sure I should be trying to be using that..
what do I do?
Not sure as I stopped using BB connect a few years ago and shifted to just activesync over the air. I do recall that when you install BB connect and synch with the desktop first time it inserts the proxy settings for your BB server internet access so the problem may be in that area. I'd recommend going into your connection settings and ensuring that they are set to the same a your cellphone service provider settings (i.e. with TMo for example there should be no proxy listed) - it was always the advantage with WM that you could use the BB for email but get to the web and IM without having to go through the corporate firewall off the BB server.
thanks, unchecked the proxy settings, no improvement
You should use the IE browser not the BB browser. You should verify that your connection settings are as per your operators settings. Settings for all of the mobile operators are available on this site.
Ok, I changed "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using Media Net and it works
I left Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using
My Blackberry
Unfortunately it doesn't seemt to automatcially toggle when I close out of IE

Getting internet working in wifi through proxy

Hi guys.
I'm trying to get my TP2 to work over wifi using my works proxy server...
I've managed to get it to connect fine at home, and can get it to connect to sites which do not require the proxy to access, but when I need to use the proxy, it just won't access (as if the proxy server is not set up correctly).
Now maybe I don't have it set up correctly?! This is what I've got:
Settings -> All Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Advanced -> Select Networks:
Programs the automatically connect to the Internet should connect using: mobile web
Programs the automatically connect to a private network should connect using: My Work Network
The "mobile web" option was set up by the Settings -> Communications -> Data Connection, and allows me to use gprs/hsdpa to connect to my provider (O2).
Is there something I have set up wrong? Or is there a way that I can get it to connect to the internet using the work proxy?
Many thanks,
David
Surely someone can help me to get the correct set up for this?
Another bump in case someone decides that they might know a way?
i am also having the same problem, my uni requires all http traffic to go through a web cache proxy script. iv tryed all sorts and it generally just ends up freezing as soon as i try connect to a remote web page
Me too, having the same issue. I managed to connect to my company WiFi after spending the effort of downloading and installing the certificates.
With a big breath, when I connected to Internet, nothing worked. And spent nearly an hour searching this forum for a resolution but couldnt get hold of anything.
Our company uses a URL with the option of 'Use automatic configuration script' in IE. And I dont how to configure this in my TP2.
Man, just checked with my colleague having an iPhone. It was a breeze. The HTTP Proxy has 3 options 1. On, 2. Off 3. Auto and when you enable Auto, it allows to enter the URL with the field label URL. Its a breeze. Why is it so difficult in WM????
Bump....
Please, anyone can give some pointers or if it is not doable? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Reply from HTC on this....
Thank you for contacting HTC.
With reference to your query, we are sorry because HTC phone can only automatic receive the Wifi signal or use SSID to access to the Wifi network, it cannot check the URL to get the connection.
You can go to Start - Settings - All Settings - Connections - Wifi. Please turn on Wifi there first. Then go to Advanced. Please take a note for the MAC address there and go to your server to add this MAC address to connect it with your phone.
Thank you for your continuous support of our products and services. Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Dear All,
Managed to resolve this. My issue was that we had an Automatic Configuration Script in the IE. Hence managed to look into the script for the Proxy Server and the port and set it up in the 'My Work' connections. Also edited the WiFi connection to connect to 'My Work' and i got it working.

[Q] Wi-Fi & Apps

Hi there,
I am using my friend's old HTC Touch Pro 2 as my phone decided to jump into a glass of water.
I have set everything up but my apps (facebook, marketplace, ...) don't seem to use my wifi. I have tested this by turning off my 3G connection and trying the apps. They report, that I have to check my internet connection.
Under Wireless controls > Menu > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks there is a choice of what connection should be used for programs that connect to the internet automatically. But as I go further into these settings it only allows changes for the 3G connection. I'm not sure if this is even the correct settings.
Can anyone shed any light on any kind of solution?
Thanks in advance.
In 2015 still no answer - and I have the same probleme on my HTC TOUCH PRO2 (RHODIUM100).
Hopefully there is a genius that can answer this now

In connection manager - did you check if wifi is turned on?
Hi B-44, yes and i have no probleme connecting and surfing the net with opera or IE.
I looked further in to this, so when I go to settings>All Settings>Connections:
In advanced Network I have turned OFF both HSDPA and HSDPA/HSUPA by choosing disable - Don't like extra charges, since I don't have data plan on this number.
In Comm Manager, only Phone and Wi-Fi is ON
In Connections, there is only these options:
Add a new modem connection
Add a new VPN server connection
Set up my proxy server
Still in Connections>Advanced>Select Networks>Network Management> "Programs that automatically connect to the internet should be using:" The options are:
Lebara MMS
Lebara Internet
My Work Network
My ISP
Lebara is my phone company.
- Dailing rules
- Exceptions
-- None that I can see has anything to do with Wi-Fi. Its mostly modem or VPN. I can't add a Wi-Fi connection here unless its something cryptic as setting up an VPN or Proxy server.
Facebook, wAppstore, Windows Live, Youtube, twitter - can't connect.
Opera, IE, Bing, GetJar - can connect without trouble.
I can login to Facebook through Account Manager, but the App installed won't connect to the net.
I'm a bit lost here How is your phone set up?
JBJ
Will take a look.
btw- which system is your Rhodium running with?
WM 6.5 Professional - CE os 5.2.21887 (Build 21887.5.0.86)
I had asked just to be shure...
Now- i don't really have a solution.
As your browsers work using wifi it may be the apps.
On my wm phones i used to install SPB weather.
Some months ago on all of them SPB data update started to fail
and never ever worked again. No matter if on wm5, 6.0 or 6.5.
I couldn't find any hint or solution.
If you search the web "windows mobile facebook supported" you'll find
some entrys which won't please you.
I presume there's no solution to us using wm.
Hi again, actually I'm not so concerned about FB since I hardly use it - its more the other apps that concerns me. Like the Wappstore, Omarket, and so on, I just added FB because its built in. It would seem that there are programs that cannot, use Wi-Fi - but rather want to use 3G.
Is there someone in this forum who know how to make a registry fix or program(.exe or .cab) to re-direct programs to Wi-Fi instead of always going for the 3G net? I would be nice with a switch where you can flip between 3G and Wi-Fi, just like the Curvefish 3G On/Off widget for android http://curvefish.com/widgets/2g3g-onoff.htm
With kind regards
JBJ
I'm still searching When I have a solution I will post it here
Thanks for you effort
With kind regards
JBJ
Hi, I never found a solution - so I guess you need a data plan to use this phone with the FB and other apps that don't like to use wi-fi.
With kind regards
JBJ
