Newbie with unlocked 8525 and T-Mobile....rom advice? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Hello all,
Just got my 8525 today (coming from an 8125), and did the full unlock. Also flashed to the latest official HTC wm6 rom, however, it's lacking customizations and programs found in 'custom roms.'
Just curious, anyone with T-Mobile, which ROM/radio combination did you find to behave best for you? Of course missed calls and stability are primary concerns.
Thanks much!

not sure where your located since U have no signature? If in USA, then see my sig for rom and radio that works for me. But many other combinationtions are also possible in the states.

Since he came from a 8125 and switched to a 8525 I asume he is from the US!
The HTC WM6 is a pretty nead rom with acceptable RADIO. The only one T-Mobile customizations you still need are GPRS and MMS settings! Those you can find here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311446
If you want to have T-Mobile Splash Screens: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=336889
If you want your ROM entirely T-Mobile branded: download the ROM from the UK site, then remove GPRS settings and replace them with US settings from the link above! The TMO_UK ROM can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337163
Hope that helps!

awesome info guys thanks! And yes, I'm in the US
I was just wondering what were the best custom ROM/radio combos for the US T-mobile users...I'm coming from an 8125 and it looks like the touchflow roms aren't quite mainstream with these yet and are still in their alpha phases

How did you fully unlock 8525 to other networks? I want to get mine working with T Mobile too. Thanks =)

That's no problem. If done and understood properly you can change the ROM to any you want. Not only to an operators ROM but any. Read the XDA-Wiki and there will be a full explaination of how to perform an upgrade, etc. I think it's the first link but either way, read the information there. Also read through the forum for ROM upgrades or the different ROMs and you'll find good information. Have fun.
O2 to T-mobile
I have done exactly the same.
The easy part is loading the ROM's as you can use any however I installed the latest download from T-Mobile which changed the splash screen to T-Mobile away from the O2 bubbles.
It is then your choice of which Radio, OS you choose to run. I find the most stable AKU3.5 by Helmi_C and Radio 1.14.10 but that is my findings.

Congrats and good luck!
And remember, after unlocking (to install the T-Mobile ROM) your phone is able to have any UNI ROM on it, such as the new, homemade WM6 ROMs on this site

Dumping S620 rom, downgrade ?

Hello,
I really want to upgrate to WM6 as soon as possible. My phone operator offer me some services (emails, web, messenger) only if I use the prvided settings and applications.
If I upgrade to WM6 and things don't work, is going back to factory state as simple to flashing HTC WM5 + EXT ROM ?
Jean
I was wondering the same thing: I would like to upgrade to WM6, but not without having a backup of the WM5 rom supplied by the Wireless Network Operator.
I searched the forum on how to backup the rom, but was unable to find any usable information. Anybody would like to help us out?
you can't back it up in that way.
just download one of the wm5 roms posted here.
1. The original WM5 ROM for the s620 is available. It's out there online if you do a little searching. It used to be hosted here. I ran it on my Dash for months before going to WM6.
2. HTC is going to be releasing the WM6 update soon. This will be a MUCH better firmware than T-Mobile's. Also, if you wait for it, you won't have to worry about unlocking or anything.
-Mc
p.s. Smartphones don't have an Extended ROM.
alright thanks guys, I'll just wait till the official HTC release, I also found the wm5 roms, so I should be all set.
I was able to find an unbranded rom (not sure if it the latest... which is the latest French version ?) but if smart phones doesn't contain ext rom, where are the customizations ?
My french phone operator is Ten Mobile. I think it will be tricky to find that particular rom.
wm5 rom...
Can someone email me a link or email me the original wm5 rom for the htc s620 and not the t-mobile dash version?
TIA
s620 wm6 rom
I really need instructions link and download link of the WM6 ROM for Htc S620.
Can Anyone help me on that? I will apreciate it a lot.
Thanks

I need to figure out the best WM6 ROM for use in Germany

I'm new to this forum, which is a great one. I might be selling my 8525 to a serviceman stationed in Germany.
I currently have VP3G's latest WM6 ROM on it, but I'm not sure if that's the best one to use (or is it?). I think he is using T-Mobile, but I'm not entirely sure (will find out and update this thread).
Can anyone recommend me a WM6 ROM?
If it were me I would load the OEM ROM and be done with the matter. This way any questions he has can be directed towards At&t, google, or his carrier and not you.

I would do that, but I did advertise it as WM6, so I can't back out on that now.
Load the ROM in this link - he can change his own carrier settings..

The question is if the serviceman in Germany speaks even German!
Is it an US soldier stationed there? Then he might be happy getting the device in English! If not, ask him what SERVICE PROVIDER he is using over in Germany and install the correct ROM. As far as I know: all of them have a WM6 version out there!
You also should inform him about the US keyboard and provide him with the keyboard fix cab for 8525.
Use Schaps 3.57a in Germany with Eplus as Provider and it works without problems, better to say unbelievable good!
Thanks again Schaps!

Default T-Mobile Germany Rom

Hello Guys!
Since my Vario IV is with its original ROM not as fast as it could be, I want to install another ROM.
But before I do that, I need the original T-Mobile Germany rom, so that I can install this again, if I have to send the phone back for some warranty-causes, or if I don't like the new modded Rom.
So, is the original one released yet or is there any way, how I can extract and maybe release it?
The other thing is that I don't really know which rom I should install then, since I'm quite new in the xda-business. There are so many roms out there. I'm basically looking for a factory HTC-rom, that hasn't installed much stuff from the start. It should just be faster and has the original htc manila interface, not the ugly T-Mobile one.
edit: And the new rom should be German.
I hope you guys can help me!
Thanks!

Ahhh, thank you very much!
I wasn't able to find this download on the T-Mobile site on my own.
For further official T-Mobile downloads, can you tell me how I can get to this site, without having the link?
I found it.....
Problem is, I need the stock rom for the mda VARIO IV.
Do you have a link for this, too?
-I know, the thread is posted in the wrong section-
It's seems that VARIO ROm is not presented at t-mobile.de yet.
you may check here (I don't know German) http://www.t-mobile.de/shop/handy/0,4855,2963-_10093-0-1-4,00.html
May be you'll find something helpfull. Or you can write to service support t-mobile and ask about ROM.
Wrong forum, this one is for the HTC Diamond, what you have is the HTC Raphael. You may have a look there.
thank you guys!
you also need original Boot-Loader from T-Mobile !!!

i haven't tried any WM 6.5 rom yet, but will try NFSFAN's WM6.5 V6.R2 ROM
please let me know how that goes... right now im just using spb mobile shell 3.0
NFSFANs ROM or ANY generic WinMO 6.5 ROM can work with metro PCS - just put the DCD MetroPCS Carrier Cab on your SD card prior to flashing and once flashed IF you have problems connecting, run the DCD MetroPCS carrier cab and it will install and provision your phone for the provider

read this and goto the link given in that post I believe MetroPCS utilizes another carrier so you can use one of the ones there that matches on your phone
Most the time though NFSFANs ROM works right out the flash, but in case there are the cabs, I just got home and cant remember whom MetroPCS emulates
so if someone remembers before I get the chance to look it up please post it (thanks)

Here are the complete details on a MetroPCS Carrier Cab -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...18&postcount=3
Is where I got the info on MetroPCS cab, the cabs are for a mogul but shouldnt matter that much, IF you dont have access/internet then you may want to try these
i finally decided i just want all this sprint stuff on the phone gone .. and i'm going to use spb mobile shell 3.0 and S2U2 and call it a day
look at part 2 of my nfsfan faq in my signature.
I have all carrier cabs (working on getting every mms cab too),
but I have both the carrier and mms cab for you in my faq now!!
mobile shell 3.0 if sweet and it doesnt slow the vogue down at all and is highly customizable maximus_pr pm me if your interested
s2U2 has been reported to be kinda buggy with windows mobile 6.5 if it works at all.
I cannot confirm nor deny as this is only what other have posted at a few threads on ppcgeeks, but I haven't seen anything here but then again I didn't search for it.
wm6.5 ver7 working just great
I have the above rom working perfec, gps,mms and all.
thats is cool codybear i will try it later im not to comfortable with flashing roms just yet but that you for the work you have put into this
thanks for the info
NFSFANS Roms
I have tried the NSFANS rom for a Vogue and it seemed the metro cabs did not help much. in the end the best way to set it up was to flash the custom ROM and then put the wap and mms settings manually. of course you have to download Arcsoft MMS because most of the roms dont come with an mms composer. Great ROM's though. pretty stable...
