My mda is dead my display flatcabel is broken...
now i got to recover my contacts that i have saved on my sd card.
any idea how to restore them on pc?
Thanks
If you saved them on your SD card then just put the card into a card reader and copy them to your pc. Another thing, even though your display is dead, you may still be able to access the phone over activesync if it still boots.
I did already hard reset cause in first i meant that it was something wrong with software...
it destroyed all data on phone exept on sd card, i copied backup contacts file on pc but i dont have an idea how to open contacts on pc (is there somme kind of viewer or maybe virtual pocket pc for Xp)? i hear active sync signal when i connect Mda via usb but i dont see anything so i am not able to install anything or to do synchronization. And i still need my contacts...
Help
I've read where you can open the file that had your contacts in it up in a hex editor and it will allow you to view your contacts. Other than that, I don't know of any program that will open it up normally though. If all you're needing to do is see them, then that method should be ok. If you need to do more with them though you may want to explain what program you backed them up with and see if anyone else has any ideas.
By the way, there are programs that allow you to view what you would see on your phone on your PC. If you're still getting a good sync then using one of them should work. Here's the link to one I've tried that works well. - http://www.mymobiler.com/

My screen died on me last night. I was just about to send it in for repair. The problem is im not using the orginal rom and i need to flash it first. Only thing is, i cant get it to Active Sync mode! The screen barly responds with the pin when use it to drag up and down.

But of course when the pop-up asking me to use disk drive or active synd pops up it doesnt work at all. For some stupid reason even the wheel wont respond in that menu. Is there anyone who knows how to manage to get the phone in to active sync mode? Really need som help here :/

You could try to flash through bootloader, switch on your phone, press soft reset and volume down
then start flashing like usual
Well, the problem is the original rom is in a installer so i cant access the files and place them on the phone. Anyone knows of a software that extracts the files from the installer?
EDIT: Nevermind, just realized i can use winrar for that. Now on to the next quiestion, there is one .nbh-file but it wasnt called DAIMIMG.nbh but it shouldnt matter if i rename the file? The question though is how do i get access to the internal storage when the phone isnt in activesync? It seems i only can access the other larger storage.

As i said before you can flash without using active sync through bootloader launching the RUU (the installer)
Or you can rename the file to diamimg.nbh paste it in the larger memory and press soft-reset + volume down + back and after some second you should press power button
nope, doesnt work. as i know the daiming.nbh HAS to be in the root of the internal storage. i dont have any micro sd memory or reader as well :/
its seems my only option is to find someone that does have a micro sd reader to go that way.

The problem is that the diamond can't read sd card or micro sd.
But if you open the phone and you connect it to usb it should be mounted as Mass Storage and you could put the diamimg.nbh
Cant read? But iv'e seen plenty much threads about using micro sd cards to boot from. And no, it doesnt. Even you keep the usb cable plugged in when booting it doesnt try to load anything from the larger part. I guess you never tried yourself?
can anyone else confirm this?
hey guys
I had a bunch of pics that I received via MMS and I needed to use, so I just long click on it and selected to save do sd card. But when I connect the phone to the pc on mass storage mode, I can't find them anywhere.
So I installed the app SaveMMS and saved all the pics to a folder with the same name. Still nothing showed up when I connect the phone to my PC.
Using ASTRO, I can see all the pictures on the download folder and I can also access the SaveMMS folder (and actually some other folders that I cant see from my PC).
I tried to copy to somewhere else and even that didnt work.
I ended up emailing myself the pics...
Any idea on whats happening?
I got root and im using opendesire with a partitioned sd card (and no, there's no pictures on the ext partition).
many thanks
Does any file names or folders on your phone look like, for example, this ".hello"
If so, get rid of the full stop at the start of the name via Astro, as it will not show up on your computer
Thread moved to Q&A.
delete my post
thanks for the reply
the first thing I checked was for hidden folders, and it wasnt that.
the folders ended up showing up on the desktop as well, out of nowhere.
but it just seemed some random, dont know what was the issue.
This is usually because you are using a2sd which makes the SD card do strange things. Changes are only actually saved to the card for the computer to see when restarting the phone
The problem is well documented, and a fix have been made which should fix it
Well, its really weird.
But better weird with A2SD than normal without it ;p
Hi all,
I am having my phone replaced by Orange (GPS and 'no network' issues).
Is there a piece of software that I can use to backup my HTC DHD to PC to include all data. By all data I mean apps, SMS, contacts, etc...?
Or, failing that, if I copy everything from the phone (in disk drive mode) to the PC from my old phone, and then copy it back again, will it all appear as it was?
Thanks in advance.
If you have a rooted phone then a simple nandroid backup will copy the exact state of your phone which can be copied to your pc and restored at a later date.
If not, then then the process becomes a bit more tedious, I'm afraid. Downloading and running the SMS backup + app should cover the text messages. Syncing or backing up contacts will sort out contact details. You can use BookmarkSB to save and restore bookmarks, and syncing the calendar events with you google account will prevent you losing anything.
For other app data, you may have to go into particular apps and back up manually. Even then, I'm not sure how you'll be able to instantly restore things like home page and icon layout.
Good luck.
Oh, and HTC sync may help too.
I used MyPhoneExplorer for that, can backup almost everything. Didn't need root access too
google it up
yup..i used phone explorer........but tell me which type of connection for usb is needed for backing up ????????
i mean is it disk drive or Htc syc ??????

It's disk drive, you may find it even faster using WiFi with My Phone Explorer.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
MyPhone Explorer is really good, do i have to mount via root explorer bevor i can make some channges in the Files on MyPhone Explorer?
U can use Droid Explorer too, but i prefer MPE...
Hy , i have a problem with my wildfire. Whatever files i put on the phone , or pictures i made ..... i mean everything i pun on the card , and then try to download them in the pc , they will not appear there , i can see the older files but the new one .... no. :| Just after reseting the phone the files appear. This is very annoying because i usually make photos and then download them. And i can't just restart the phone each time i make a picture
You can't see them on your Removable Disk Drive when connecting it to the PC or when your browsing with your phone( aka gallery )?
If you can't see the photos when connecting the phone to pc it might be a virus. I recall having problems loading photos from any folder even though I had no viruses, it was just some random error that made thumbnails load very slow even though the system was snappy and seemed to have no problem whatsoever.
It may also be an sd-card error or something and I would suggest to try backing up the files you need and then format it ( fat32 )
Re-add them and check if the problem persists.
ps: Don't use a fast format, let it do a normal one to delete all the data.

Its not youre phone but your pc thats wrong
Hello there,
it is one of the best phone and the easiest to recover or update in my opinion but,
the issue of no memory card is really something bad for your files in case if something happened to the phone!
i know backup is so important but what if you phone crashed all of the sudden because of an application update and you will enter in the repeated boot loops and you have to reset the phone or flash new software!!
OH! Then your will loose everything in the mobile !
it is really sad it happened to me twice in2 weeks i lost allot of good pictures.
i am sure most of the phone users tried to recover the lost files and no one could do it because the phone is identified as MTP, no logical letter drive can be assigned to the phone!!!
All recover software’s couldn’t find the phone and even when i tried hexcomp from the market to recover the pictures, couldn’t do it.
my question for our developers is there any scripts can make the phone work as usb when it is switched off ??
or ,
is there any way to assign a logical drive to the phone instead of MTP so we can recover the lost files?
I don’t know why Goggle didn’t think of such problem because it happened to allot of people and I am not used to back up my files before because there were in memory card.
I really hope the developers will work on such issue because this is the worst thing I found it in the phone.
I might be wrong but I think you can pull everything off the phone using adb whilst in recovery mode?
Dropbox.
It can sync pictures as soon as you take them.
You can sync files between multiple devices, including uploading and downloading to your phone.
Titanium Backup can be synced to drop box.
Check it out,

Sent from my Verizon 4G LTE Galaxy Nexus.
i tried Pull before it took long time without doing nothing
i know dropbox and i know what it do
i am asking the DEVELOPERS:
1-is there any scripts can make the phone work as usb when it is switched off ??
2-is there any way to assign a logical drive to the phone instead of MTP so we can recover the lost files?
Thanks

Theoretically you probably could write a CWM script to create a virtual folder and mount that as USB media via CWM. But it would require loading the script to the phone via ADB anyways.
