as I can understand, HP Ipaq 4700 received a very welcomed update to WM6, without HP effort.
Pocket Loox 720's form factor and memory and USB host funcionality are worth fighting for
Can u please consider my suggestion?
Is there already a WM5 version that works on the loox 720?

just no one want to help the 718/720 user..to bad
it is not a "helping" issue. i have been waiting an upgrade for my LOOX 720 over 3 years. i think it is one of the best pocket pc's that are ever made but FS said "hey guys we are sorry we made a technical mistake so you will never get an upgrade" so they killed their leading model after a while they shut their pocket pc section which i think this is one of the biggest reason. at the end if we can not find a young, brave, genius and hero pocket pc programmer from "xda developers" who can spent time and get rid of this "technical mistake" we will never have a upgrade.
After 3 years of waiting i gave up and bought a "o2 xda flame" which have very similar functions like vga 3.6 screen, usb host, 128mb ram plus 2gb rom, nvidia goforce GPU and also phone. But now i am waiting a WM6 upgrade for my flame which other standard pocket pcs all ready get one.
So i start to think this is the faith of non-standard pocket pcs.
So is the whole wm6 concept for FSC Loox 720 dead???

Hi!
My friend has an MDA Pro, and he's fed up with WM 5.
Is there a way to get a PPC2003 ROM for Universal?
(I haven't found on FTP)
thanks
ahoj
to make it short: no
 yeah of course u can downgrade to WM2003 SE....
...u have just to believe in flying donkey...
:?: can u explain us why u want to downgrade to this ****ty OS??? :?:
BYE
I told my friend these bad news, and he's really sad now...
He's fed up with it's extemely low performance in everyday use
He's fed up with BT connection issues, application incompatibility...
He was hoping that this "little" thing is like the HP iPAQ hx4700, where you are able to downgrade to the "original, shipped" WM 2003 SE.
Well, all-in-all... NO.
thanks for the help
Zoli
why not???
is it becouse of the reolution??
ore is the chip set diverent
y have run windows mobile 2005 on my qtek 2020
bud y still love my diamond rom from
omegaone hey is a forum member this is the most stable rom y have ever used
y realy like to have it on my 9000
even if it means when the battery is dead y lose all my data
x back helps me running again
y hope some one takes the time to figure it out
The problem is that the Universal was designed from the ground up as a WM5 device, and so there is no "Original" ROM to downgrade to. There are quite a few posts on this already that go in greater detail.
My friend is interested about every solutions
(I know that the ROM area is different, as well as the chipset is. Apart from that, I really hope that there are some people who are developing it, like WM5 to Blue Angels.)

All these people work in Microsoft, and they would not bother porting obsolete OSes for a modern device. Better they'd make an upcoming WM 6.0 for our toy
Anyway you would not like Universal having only 32Mb RAM and 32Mb of object store. Or should I say 24 / 24 Mb.
Well, I think its the XDA forum should also include roms and mods and hacks , software for ipaq wm5 pda phones. Please start a dedicated forums for iPAQ PDA phones, please
I second this I think you guys are mostly HTC oriented but I would love forums for the ipaq, and symbian OS devices.
i support that i have an ipaq 6945 and would like to upgrade it....
Help unlock my ipaq 6945
Please guys i am find a way to unlock my ipaq 6945.
Tks
There is a section of this forum dedicated to HP hw69xx
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=329
However the upgrade process isnt fully hacked.
It'd be nice if there were a section dedicated to the iPAQ 6800 series, or just a general iPAQ section discussing unlocking, upgrading or whatever. (I am aware that the iPAQ 6800 is related to the Atom, it just seems that if you even MENTION the 6800 in that forum, no one wants to hear about it... )

I clearly understand those people. During the last week legally trying to change the language of my hw6915 the words "HP support" became sort of a swearing lexicon to me. The specs for my device is also weird - so many devices and gadgets but so primitive screen
The only thing I can suggest to you me101 is to stick around the Atom forums and gain knowledge about the internals of that device.
I have an old HP Ipaq 6315 and I want to port WM6 on it, can this be done?
I did a search and did not find anything.
Thanks for any help.
unfortunately, there has NOT been any release for Hp h6315 for quite a while. I thinh that this ppc phone is no longer useful for popular, except you and me!!!
HP just pissed all IPAQ
Ipaq 6340 and 6315
I have two of each running in pristine cond. However, the wm3 is badly bugged and I think it would really spice up those things if ported to wm5 og wm6. Even to the nice touch iPod lookalike floating menu of the HTC might be usable. ( if the cpu can handle it )
Has there not been ONE porting of wm5 or wm6 for those extremely popular ppc´s here , ever ?? Not even an attempt ???
Please , if anyone can answer this question for me asap, so I will not be wasting my time here.
Hi,
I would need assistance - which ROM for WM6 to use for HP Ipaq 2200?
I am novice for this. Can anyone help me with this one finding the ROM for this built?
Where should I search for?
Thanks!
Can anyone suggest me where to search for WM6 for my PDA?
me 2 thnaks!!
If your refering to the OLD iPAQ 2210 series, I don't think WM6 fits in a 32MB ROM, which is what those pda's had. I used to have one of those and that is one of the reasons I upgraded. I wonder how much can you take out of WM6 to be able to reduce it's size by half...
This so far has worked on a my 2755 and another 2495. Not sure about earlier versions.

DO NOT FLASH THIS TO YOUR 2200 series. It IS NOT the correct firmware.
Further checking shows this is not for the 2200 series
HP iPAQ hx2110/hx2115/hx2190/hx2190b/hx2195/hx2195b/hx2410/hx2415/hx2490
hx2490b/hx2495/hx2495b/hx2750/hx2755/hx2790/hx2790b/hx2795/hx2795b
It will be nice to have iPAQ H2210 upgraded to WM6.
My H2210 has PPC 2003 ROM only not even 2003SE. It will be nice to have it upgraded to 2003SE if WM6 is not available. Can someone help?
so yes, or no?
NO! iPAQ H2200 series cannot be upgraded because it is too much of efforts and too little reward to build a WM5/6 ROM for this most easily broken (mostly grips and battery doors) amongst the iPAQs.
In my humble opinion: NO. The Windows Mobile 6 Operating System does not fit into a 32MB ROM. I remember back when 2003SE came out, we couldn't even upgrade to that because of the ROM size constraint. That said, I do still like the PDA a lot, specially the large bright screen and ergonomics.
yes, 2200 series have got a little ROM, but support CF cards! I have heard, that system can boot from a card, so if somebody can change it to boot from card, it will be great, and users of 2200 series can be happy with new WM!
Help me too ... hate the wm 2003
i bought an hp ipaq h2200 frm a friend, and thought ,and now i d like to flash a wm 5 or 6.x rom to it. I read through the above posts to understand i probably cannot. But if i can boot a different os from the mem cards, can i please know more about it?
please help ...
wm 2003 is stifling me
Have you guy read this:
Last week, Microsoft formally unveiled Windows Mobile 6.1, the latest version of its operating system for handhelds and smartphones.
Naturally, the owners of current devices are anxious to know if and when updates for their units will be released.
Unfortunately, there's bad news for users of HP's latest iPAQs. Responding to a question from Brighthand, Mike Hockey, Hewlett-Packard's Worldwide Public Relations Manager, said:
HP will not be offering an operating system upgrade for currently shipping HP iPAQ devices beyond what ships on the device today -- Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.
This decision comes after having evaluated the potential for delays in firmware and software updates, device recertification, and carry-over costs to our customers that are often associated with an operating system upgrade.
HP is committed to continuing its long-standing relationship with Microsoft and will deliver HP iPAQs with Windows Mobile 6.1 at a future date.

Just bought a HP 214, so I'd be very interested in the 6.1 upgrade.
It does not supprise me that HP have made this decision, they let us all down with the upgrade for the 4700 from 2003 to wm5, that in mind it will be better to have someone cook the rom than wait/trust HP to release a workable upgrade.
This just shows how committed HP is to their customers--they're not! I'm in the market for a new pocket pc and I was thinking about getting the HP 211, but I think I will just go with the dell axim X51v now.
Soo much for their so called "3 years Supports" ...
This is what i got.. 1 single version OS for the rest of your life.
multimedia on ipaq and dell.
