X50V wireless problem in WM6 - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

X50V, after updated to WM6, I cannot connect internet with wireless. Can you help me Thank you !!! I cannot search in post....

and which version of WM6 would this be?

Neither do I...
Using WEP or no encryption works good. ... But using WPA PSK no way...

when you turn on wifi and it does not work try this. while wifi on turn off device and turn it back on and see what happens

I can say from past experience this won't work (at least for me) and yes I'm on Wm6A02. Was also wondering what could be affecting it.

maybe driver with os problem

That's what I think ultraprimeomega. I'd appreciate if all discussion be moved into my thread, stops the forums being flooded

same with me
i am having same problem, i have an axim x50v with maglites wm6 a02 and it doesnt work with WPA-PSK.

LEAP Client
Does anyone know of a LEAP client for WM6? Preferrably FREE !!!!!
Our work network only uses LEAP, and it would be great if I could get that working again.
Dell Axim X50V - WM6 A02 rom (maglight version)

How about a WPA_Enterprise client? (not WPA or WPA-PSK).

WPA-TKIP
I flushed 4 time this week my x50v with different rom version. No once work. At the end, because I've friend that work in IT shop, I toke the desicion to test different routers.
Linksys wrt54g WORK all encryptation ( WPA-TKIP Also)
Sonicwall don't work
Dlink wok only wep
Berklin don't work
Cisco I cannot see the SSID

All WM6 roms and BT home hub Wifi

All
Can anybody help?... i have installed all the wm6 roms available (thanks to everyone that has created one of these) Anyway my problem is i have a bthomehub and i am having some troubles connecting the universal to the homehub via Wifi. The universal can pick up my wifi signal fine but then when i enter my encryption key the uni then comes back and tells me the key has been entered incorrectly ( i know this is not the case ) I have even tried removing the encryption off the homehub and the universal still does not connect. I know that there is not a problem with the wifi on the uni and WM6 as i took it round my friends and connected up to his dlink straight away.
Any suggestions would be most helpful
Nevamind folks. just solved my own problem for some reason it would only let me connect if i specified a static IP on my uni. Bit of a pain but still i can live with that..
Cheers anyways
strange, i just got the homehub with phone etc, and my uni connects no probs

Wireless issue - WM6 black edition

Looks like there's some wireless issues here -
I have a Dlink DI-524 b/g router, set to WEP with a small key.
Running WM5 - wireless fine.
Running WM6 Black edition 1.2 - Can see access point, says key is wrong.
Running WM6 Black edition 2.0 - Can see access point, says key is wrong.
Running WM6 XDA live... .20 - fine
Pretty sure XDA live .10 was fine as well, but that was a few weeks back now .
Tried all the settings available, WEP,WPA,WPA2,Hex keys, Ascii keys, no encryption at all..... no go. Can see the AP fine..... takes about 30 seconds before coming back with an incorrect key error.
Anyone else see this?
Sorry dude, Im using WEP 64bit key and works a treat (reception sucks in the loft though)
hmmmmm.
I've tried 64/128 bit keys and everything... perhaps its an issue with wm6/router software. What model AP are you using?
Just tried mine and it works flawlessly...
Maybe try and reset the router/wap?
Been there, done that as well
It's a bit of a puzzle.
It's strange that one flavour of WM6 works and not another. I might have to do a bit of scratching about in the registries/dll's of both and see if there's anything different.
But it's not too critical, as long as one version of WM6 works for me
WPA PSK TKIP running fine here......
No problems with WPA-PSK using TKIP on D-Link DSL-G604T.
Also fine here...
I am using the back 2.0 right now and I have no issue at all.
My settings are:
WPA2 AES RADIUS on a Dlink 2100 AP
from now on... can you please post all issues with Black 2.0 here
Wellll.... I was going to post there, but I was unsure if it was just a WM black issue or a larger one involving other flavours. I did a search before posting and there were hints of similar wireless issues with other roms and other people.
And I've found some sort of solution -
Flashed it back to WM black, finally managed to get it to connect with wpa-2 with an pre-shared AES key. After that, all connection modes work - open/wep/wps.
Will check the registry settings and see if there's anything obviously different now than from the default install.
Funny I was having a similar problem, but it was with WM 6 Black Edition V1.2.
My phone was not finding one of my wireless routers, even when I was standing right beside it, but it would connect to my other one fine. They are both identical and are setup identically, so I dont know why this was happening. It only happened with Black 1.2, XML, and LVSW were fine.
I just now flashed Black V.2 and everything is running fine again.
Very strange... it seems to be the opposite of what happened to you.
What type of router?
I have a router at my office - MN-700 by Microsoft - that causes this problem with all versions of WM6. You will have to reboot both your cable/dsl modem and router and all will be fine. All will be fine until you re-connect your phone via your USB cable and re-sync. After that, you'll be back in the same boat and have to reboot the modem and router.
I have two routers at home - one by dlink and one by linksys - and neither have ever exhibited similar behavior. Therefore, I think it more a router (perhaps firewall?) problem, than a problem with WM6.
I'm now $.02 in the hole....

you can
Start->Settings->Connections(Tab)->Wireless LAN ->Power Mode->Best Performance
The Setting is Maybe fine.
There's loads of us happily wifi-ing with Black V2.
I look after hundreds of clients wireless networks... and you may not be surprised to learn that 99.9% of wep problems where it says "incorrect key" are caused by...wait for it... an incorrect key!
Don't cut and paste the key. TYpe it in manually.
However - other options:
Do you have mac filtering enabled on router?
Have you set your device to ask for a specific IP address?
Have you set the device to max performance?
Finally... change the SSID of your home network. All the mucking about you have done may have left some residual mess in the device registry and it is getting confused.
also before typing just check in a word if you are typing the key correct... maybe theres a problem with your hw keyboard... and you don't know it...

hmm...i recently upgraded from WM5 to WM6 LVSW0326 ROM and faced this same problem...same setup, same router, same WEP and it worked for a while ...then it died. Refused to connect.
i am sure the WEP is correct as i have the same key on my other wireless devices... and know what is even more interesting? i disable WEP and my device connects ok!
so i know it is not the router or the wifi protion of my hermes, more like the ROM is not sending the network key properly...even after asking for it several times!
anyone has a cab for just the wifi portion?
edit: never had this issue with WM5 even with WEP enabled!
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM...
i tried to post my problem in the 1.2 and 2.0 forums, but no one could help ....
i found a weird round about way to make this work every once in a while...
i would go to my network adapters > IEEE wifi adapter > change the specific ip to one that i knew it would work from my router...
this would make it connect, but woudln't work right....
so then when i change it back to "use server-assigned IP"... it would pick up the right address from my router and work .... and all would be fine.... but then when i turned off wifi and tried again, it would fail again.
a problem i see is when it's trying to detect my network, the IP address in the grayed-out box reads (fe80::209:2dff:feef) but when it would work correctly, it would have a normal IP address....
maybe there's something in the writing to the wifi that's different in america???

It's work! Thanks!
I did try "This is hidden network" and all the others' suggestions! This is the simpliest and workable method!
Thx again! I can surf by wireless Lan again!
I wonder if MS have seriously reduced the power output on the wireless when its set to BEST BATTERY. It seems a) its set to that by default rather than in the middle and b) quite a few people are having problems with their wifi.
I have Belkin N1 router and it connected fine first time even on low power - and on BEST PERFORMANCE I pick up more of my neighbours SSID's than I used to with WM5
I've had most of the problems listed here.
The new LVSW now has this problem also but Vanilla works fine for me, old LVSW's, XDA Live. Upon changing the protocol the router uses I could connect on the first attempt, subsequent attempts would not work.
I have no trouble with the works router.
This seems to be something other than Microsoft, maybe worth asking LVSW what he did differently on his latest.

wireless lan problems - ethernet adapter dead?

hello again!
i finally managed to reanimate my mda3 and flashed it with some newer rom files. actually everyhing seems to work, everything besides the wireless lan connection!
i just cannot accomplish an internet connection with the wlan i have and i am pretty sure, that the settings are all correct! there must be some problem with the mda's ethernet adapter, but i dont know what!?
the adapter seems to be searching and scanning the connection, but when trying to connect to the internet with the browser, i cant.
are there known problems with wlan, which appear after certain rom updates?
is there a way to check, if the wlan adapter of my mda is still working?
i really dont know how to start and eventhough i read thru lots of postings regarding wifi, i was not able to fix it myself!
please help me!
thx in advance,
k
hello again!
i still can not connect to the wlan!! it's freaking me out and the more i read, the more confused i get! please help me, if u can!
here are my current specs:
i have a PH20B Pocket PC with following roms installed:
ROM-Version: 1.42.01
ROM-Date: 09/05/05
Radio-Version: 1.13.00
Protokoll-Version: 1337.42
ExtROM-Version: 1.42.122 GER
are there known issues regarding those versions? (should i up/downgrade to an other rom?)
does WM5 have any advatages regarding this matter? or is it the same as 2003?
is there a way to check if the WiFi hardware of my device is still okay?
any help is very much appreciated!
thx in advance,

still...
hello again!
seems like i am talking to myself here again...
i searched the forum and read so many threads about that problem, noone ever posted a working solution! weird, because i think the wifi is one of the big pros of the Blue Angel!?
i can find lots of access points (with or without WEP), but i still cannot connect to any of them!
well, i managed to connect to one AP only once! (it was a open AP, Netgear hardware). so at least i know, that my wifi adapter is not broken or something.
is the blue angel's wifi adapter just cheap crap which is not compartible with most of today's hardware or am i missing something?
are there plugins or driver updates to cope with this?
i am curious: is there someone, who can connect to most WLAN Routers without problems?
hopefully, someone will share experiences soon...
regards,krz
There are some problems with the wm5 and wifi. With the explode's rom I can't connect with any network using wpa. So I tryed baniaczek's one and it worked better but I had other problems, so finally I downloaded the vanilla version of the latest aku and cooked my own rom so now I'm happy with it.
call me noob!
well...hi again.... i actually thought about changing my forum identity because i am a little ashamed right now... why? well.... i finally discovered where the actual problem with my wlan connection was.... the router i was desperatly trying to connect to can only be controlled and configured by my isp, whom i now called to find out that the router was set to "802.11g only" ... stupid!! all pros around here might know, that the mda 3 is only supporting 802.11b.... it took me hours and days to get that!!
long story told short: support guy reconfigured router to "mixed mode" and while still talking to him on the mda-phone, the mda-wifi connected without any problems... I AM HAPPY!

Call me "noob" II.... I have been enjoying my WM 6.0 upgrade on my SX66 for about a month now thanks to helmi's wizard. The ROM flash was flawless and I love all the new features beyond WinCE2004. however, I could not get WLAN connectivity no matter how I configured the network adapter or WLAN settings...... I am a Senior Network Engineer and have worked on 6 Gig microwave transmission systems since 1967 and thought I knew evrything about WLANs.... anyhow, as soon as I read your plea for help the light bulb came on and I reset my D-Link Gateway Router to allow 80211b connections and like your experience the BA was WLAN connected before I saved settings and exited the router.
Now like you I am happy and somewhat "humbled"..... I really appreciate your explanation of the problem and your followup on the trouble resolution which allowed me to only spend hours and not days to fix it!!
Thanls again,
wrdan
Hi there
I just had a problem like yours and solved it changing my router to work in 802.11b mode only... In mixed mode it behaves exactly like you mentioned in your case.

X50V Wifi problems - please post all discussion here.

Well.. there have been a few (although not extortionate amount) of complaints that users using X50v's have problems with wifi (similar to that of the ones experienced with WM6A01).
Here's a list of things that seem to be going wrong:
Only on WPA-PSK networks.
Resetting doesn't work
(on WM6A01 Odyssey didn't seem to solve the issue with me)
Seems to continually connect or connect for a second then disconnect. sometimes will stop after a while, sometimes will carry on (presumably forever)
Possible things causing it
Small HW problem with a particular batch of X50v's
Driver issues (doubtfull)
Incorrect registery settings
Router problems [Omitted]
Application problems
Things You should post:
What version of WM you're using
What Hardware revision you are on (found under the battery cover, next to the service code)
What brand your router is
What make your router is (yes, these can differ)
What Wifi security your on
Whether you're broadcasting your SSID
Whether you're using a static or dynamic/server assigned IP
Here are mine:
Currently WM6A02 HWA01
Sky brand router
Netgear make
WPA-PSK Security
Yes broadcasting SSID
Server assigned IP
well, for me everything wireless works. (the only problem, i have, is that my pda keeps hanging, when syncing in cradle using wmdc 6.1 at vista x64) i can connect to any unsecured/open network in my town, as well to my private (wpa-secured) home-wlan. (B/G-mix), i set my pda to 'receive ip' (except for VPN), i' using a fritzbox wlan (AVM). so far i have no problems with wireless, and it seems even faster, as with wm5!)
Okay..
I'm having exactly the same issues as Obsidiandesire...
WIFI keeps connecting and disconnecting every second in an infinite loop... This only happens if I use WPA encryption. Else everything works fine (WEP or no encryption at all). With WM2003SE all was perfect.
My PDA: Axim x50v with WM6 A02 RTM 0PP Zeus_Alex edition
My PDA: Axim Hardware revision is A01
My Router: D-Link G-624T with firmware V3.10B01T02.EU-A.20070924
My WIFI Security: WPA PSK with a 12 char password
My SSID: Yes, broadcasting...
My DHCP : No... Static IP Configuration...

So we know this is probably not limited to UK users
I'm using a Netgear router so it's not that.
and 0PP doesn't solve it so that's another idea scrapped
and it's not to do with the password as Mine is 8 char
EDIT: Random question that's too specific to search for, how do you find out your HW revision?
Open the back plate and remove the battery... I found it on the sticker where is the service number..
Thanks, updated post with that information. Mine must have been on the first batch as it had WM2003A01 installed when I got it!!!
Forgot to mention that I already tried the x51v WM6 A03 "vagus" fix for WI-FI, but no luck
I didn't even bother and now i think there is no point trying.

Oh Yes...
...During a nuclear beta decay....
I try to connect with my router, AZtech, using this setting:
WEP enc.128 but, open,
but the network name not shown in list unless I use dell wifi utility
and I can't connect use these setting:
non secure, wpa, wep
update,
I don't see any list of network available on network list, unless I use dell wifi utility. and I can't connect to my router use these settings: none, wpa, wep. I setting open for authentificaton
oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I use WM06 a02, issued by Maglite.
same here
same here I am experiencing the exact same probs, vagus's fix didnt help me
so, I like to use wm 2006, it faster than before.but I dont like what the problem come, like wifi bug
my works ok, have the same problem that when i turn on wifi it will turn on but no access points or it does not connect if its there.
my fix is just to turn on wifi and turn off device and then turn it back again. its been working on different routers but thats not the cause of the problem.
Thanks to Vagus we pointed out the problem...
It seems that the missing Odyssey drivers in the MagLite Rom for x50v could be the key to solve it... He told that we are missing a file called OdysseyIMCE.dll that is the driver of the Odyssey client...
I Tryed re-adding it dumped from WM2003SE together with a lot of registry keys present in the x51v WM6 ROM... But no luck ! I messed up the whole thing... Anyway I'm quite sure that this is the right way so I'll continue to experiment
Cheers
I'm NOT convinced that it's Maglite's WM6 A02 ROM, I have had this problem with my X50v using WM2003SE, WM5 & Now WM6. My router is a Netgear DG834GT, other routers seem to work all ok, I suspect it might be a WPA-PSK / Router Firmware / Auto switching b,g Issue?

I have a D-Link G624T and with WM2003SE all was perfect with WPA...
Now, after WM6 upgrade, infinite loop connecting and disconnecting
I figured it out
X50V WM6 A02 RTM 0-PP
x50v hardwre A08
Linksys WRT54G-v4 (home network w/ 2 PCs & x50v)
WEP-64bit security
Broadcasting SSID
Auto DHCP
I had easily connected wi-fi on WM2003SE, WM5 A02, & WM5 A03 without configuring my router. Yesterday I flashed to WM6 and could not connect. Finally I reset the router, and started from scratch.
After much nashing of teeth, connecting was easy.
It all came down to terminology! First I set up the router with no security - and the x50v connected easily (albeit PIE takes awhile to find the home page). Then I set up security. I tried many, many configs to connect, but I kept entering the "pass phrase" to no avail. Then it dawned on me, the x50v was asking for a "key" not a pass phrase. So I entered the "default transmit," 10-digit, hexidecimal key that my router had generated from the pass phrase I had entered -- lo and behold, I was connected.
So easy!! (many hours later)
Hope this info helps someone.
Chas
ps: I did remove the x50v's battery between each connection attempt. Router instructions said to restart the desktop PC after configuration changes, so I figured that instruction applied to the PDA as well.

That was really funny!! And a bit silly (sorry). Took you so many hours to see the diference between key and passphrase!!
I would have been embarrased to put it here.... Anyway maybe others are making the same silly mistake..You never know!!
Please sorry again. But I couldn't stop laughing.
Even funnier is when you mention you took the battery out!! when all you have to do is a reset...if required!!

If you can't connect to your WiFi Access Point with WPA2 encryption read this!!

Hi All,
At my office we have a 3Com OfficeConnect Wireless 11g Access Point.
Up to now I was not able to connect and I could not figure out why.
The router has MAC filtering enabled but this was all set correctly, I could see my TP2 MAC address in the client list but on my TP2 it kept saying connecting.....
At home and at friends my Wifi works flawlessly.
I did some searching here and stubmled upon this WM6 Wifi fix.
I thought what have I got to loose. Installed the cab, did a soft reset and presto it connected!!!
I installed the cab in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3157442&postcount=5
Just in case anyone else is experiencing the same....
The cabs you refer to are in the Prophet forum.
Are you sure you don't introduce other problems?

Yes I know, and I thought it was a long shot but I tried anyway. After a soft reset it still works and so side effect at all up to now..
Of course it is up to the user to try this and I can't guarantee anything!!!
Note that those cabs also change the phone so that wifi remains on while in standby. Handy if you use skype but a battery killer if you forget about it.
FWIW I got it working with my WPA2-PSK open-wrt based router without any hacks.
