MDA compact II screen freeze - HELP!! - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi there,
I have a T-mobile MDA compact II, which for the last few months has been freezing on touch screen intermittently. First of all it was only a few seconds delay but now it can take hours to start working again.
At first I thought it was a software problem, however navigation buttons can always still access the menus. It is just the touch screen functions that seem to be affected. I have bought a new battery to see if it was a power issue but that has no affect.
I would really appreciate some advice, as my soft reset button will be worn out soon!!
Many thanks.
Regards.
Rosco.

Have you tried deleting all the entries in your call history also any received text messages i found that it helped speed up my phone, just a thought hope it helps .

Touch Screen Problem

Hi All,
I am using an IMATE Pocket PC 2003 since the last 6-8 months. Over the last few weeks I am facing a problem with the Touch Screen. ALl of a sudden the Touch Screen fails to respond although the buttons are still working.
Sometimes after several reboots, the Touch Screen responds sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I just keep it IDLE for 2-3 Hours and the Touch Screen starts responding. There is no fixed time of the error also the error is random. Sometimes everything is normal for one week and there is no problem at all. Sometimes the problem persists continously.
I have Hard Resetted it atleast 4 times but the status still remains the same.
If anybody has experienced this, do share your thoughts.
Regards
Jinesh
I read somewhere that if you re-align your screen it may help.
Do your hardware buttons still work? You could try mapping tpenable.exe to a hardware button and select this when the screen locks up.
Touch screen problem
Jinesh,
did you ever manage to fix this?? This is exactly the problem I've been having on my MDA Compact (Magician) for ages: screen unresponsive, buttons still working. I started a thread on this topic as well and got some suggestions, but never managed to sort it out. I'm a bit wary to resort to flashing a new ROM or something like that since it seems to open up a whole new set of potential problems and will cost me my warranty with T-Mobile at the least (Not that they're much help, but still)...
Thanx,
Joost
Maybe the cover
The Qtek9090-screen is sometimes locked (e.g. when it's in a car holder which causes too much pressure on both sides of the display.) The same happens sometimes without any cause - pressing on both sides unlocks the screen.
Hi,
I am using an O2 Mini now and have sold off that Imate. But what I came to know that the touch screen problem was due to the irregularities in the network. The screen stops responding fast when network is weak and the device keeps on searching the network.
I have faced this problem once or twice in my O2 mini also.
Regards
Jinesh, I don't know if you checked out my thread on this, but indeed this is the conclusion I've reached: bad network causes the unresponsive screen. I think it might have something to do with the priority windows gives to the screen routine compared to (searching for) network. As of yet I have been unable to find a way to increase priority for the screen or lower it for network, though I browsed through the registry pretty extensively. Suggestions from anyone on this would be most welcome.

Phone will not come out of standby

hi guys,
has anyone experienced a problem where their Trinity will not "wake up" with the short press of the on/off button?
I'm sure I read about this some time ago and am trying to work out if it's hardware or OS related.
I'm running mUn's TE WM6 which I have been for many months now.
The problem has only started in the last 2 weeks or so.
I haven't installed anything new, but have enabled Push Mail for OTA mail.
It's doing it 1 or 2 times a day now and is very frustrating. The only way to wake the phone is soft reset.
When calling the phone from a landline, it does not ring and goes to voicemail.
Any advice or solutions gratefully received.
no one seen this then I guess.
Bummer (for me!)
Try hard reset

thanks John.
But do you have any fact based reason for this suggestion?
I'm happy to give it a go if there's more than 50% chance it will work.

You might have loaded a program that is not liked. Use a backup program. If this does not work then load your backup after the hard reset and you will be back to where you started
P3600 with D810 WM6 ROM; also happens occasionally, recovered with soft reset. Seems to happen most often when I press the On/Off button twice too quickly.
thanks guys.
I'm going to try the hard reset route-I'll report back.
Some time ago this happened to me so often, but said it was due to some application, in my case was Slide2Unlock.
Since I removed by their consumption of memory it didn't happened to me.
(Sorry for my english)
Bugger, this has started to happen to me as well. Only 3 times in the last 3 days but if it keeps is up that will be enough for me to do a hard reset (overdue). Strange cause the only new thing I put on in the last week has been PCM 16 which is only a copy/paste exercise.
The fix in the Hermes forum is to force your device to sleep and not let it go into standby.
I have had some problems recently with DeviceLock 1.2 just ceasing to work and have to uninstall/reinstall to make it work again. I set it to turn the screen off when locked, as this does not put the device on standby, maybe there is the same issue with it going into standby by itself.
I have the same problem..i think that it has to do with the phone hanging..most probably due to some background programs eating too much power and memory and the phone just lacks till it hangs..happens when you have other programs that have hanged as well..my problem is with PocketAlarm..it takes so long to load my phone went to standby and the phone couldnt be called back..in brief the phone just hangs because of a program..i don think it has any problem do to with the hardware or strictly the OS..cant really explain..but the role the OS play in this problem is that it allows the program to make full use of the phone till the phone cant cope with it..its the core of the OS so it cant be avoided with any other versions or anything..sorry it seems rather unclear..hope you guys understand..
same problem for me ... from times to times, when a call hang up, i push a lot of times the red button for going back to the today screen and as it shows up, i click immediately on the Power button for turning off the screen. right after when i forgot to do something (approx 1sec) i push the power button and there it doesn't turn on the screen ... strange ...
what i've installed on it :
TomTom 6
BatteryStatus with today plugin ver 1.04.203 beta4 i put tray icons too.
i've bluezard for sniffing and/or hacking bluetooth devices.
OBDgauge too it's a software that works with a bluetooth dongle i plug into the diag port of my car.
and that's all. ah yes one more thing -> i disable the "HTC Home" because i don't like it.
Same problem here...
Still no solution?
I got this problem from some version of rom by Karmba. But V7.2 is OK so far. It seems happened when I close Egress reader by click X button then turn off screen by power switch. It then would not wakeup again. But if I close Egress and check the running programs from Task Manager to make sure the Egress is not running at the background, then I can turn on or off the screen freely.
So I think this wakeup problem is caused by some running program that was not closed properly by X button then crash the WM.
That was just my personal finding. Hope it help you guys a bit.

Hi,
I don't have a solution, but I had a similar problem - my phone would just cycle through the lower buttons randomly, and I never found out what it was.
But I might have got it wet a bit, after a week or so it went away.
Then I had the phone replaced with another problem.
Is it still under warranty? If so, just take it back.
Good luck!
PS: I don't think your question should have been in the WM6 section..

[Q] [31 Mar 09] Xperia does not come out fo standby mode

Hi, I have a Vadophone branded Xperia that I have unlocked and it works fine most of the time. Sometimes (randonmly) however it does not come out of standby mode when I slide it open or press the power button. The phone still works as it I can still receive calls but the screen remains blank/off. I have to put it away for a while and then try pressing the power button again and sometimes the screen comes back on but sometimes it doesn't and I have to take out the battery to reset it. Its very annoying.
Does anyone else face the same problem and more importantly does anyone have a remedy to this problem? Thank you.
I get it. Just press the power button 3-4 times and it works
Hi ratchetclank,
I have tried it but unfortunately it does not work. Another friend of mine has the same Vodfone branded one and he has the exact same problem. Aparently the unbranded ones do not have this problem. Is there anything else that can be done? Thank you.
anyone found the fix to this problem??
Try with no oficial ROM
it culd be two things
1>Theres something wrong with the button-But as ur freind has the same problem i doubt this
2>Your rom is still the stock rom that came wih your phone.Flash a new rom.Like smaberg touch x10.And then see what happens!!
Cheers
Standby problem
Yeah, I have that same condition with him too, I use smaberg Touch X 10.1, but still have that problem, that happen meybe about 1 or 2 days once. please help, thanks before
Do you have SPB Mobile Shell 3 installed?
The amount of times I've had to hard reset this useless block of metal im supposed to call a phone, is ridiculous. sometimes I install certain apps, other times I dont.
At times where I've had SPB Mobile Shell installed, I get this problem. Times when I dont have it installed, I dont.

It was working fine till couple of weeks ago. Then I have tried S2U2 and some keyboard prog.
I have tried with hard reset but no luck.
Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Xtremerer,
Today news:
I just got my Artemis from the service and the guy told me that I had two problems:
1. Software - he just did some kind of "repair" tool for services (not flashing)
2. Hardware - problem with mini USB connector on the bottom of the phone - he said - inspect your cables, one might be bad.
(3). Battery - I gave him the phone with the original battery although i have both the new one. He told me to change the battery, this one is bad, screen flickers because of it.
I was happy for couple of hours, but, it turned out that my WiFi doesn't work anymore
Any idea?
