Move the "X" button? - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Is there a way to move the "X" button to the middle of the top bar, like to just next to the EDGE/GPRS/3G icon, the white one?
I need this because for some reason when i installed my touchflo'd rom, the x-button gets impossible to press without the stylus.
So, is there a way to relocate the x button? Or to fix my problem?

WisBar Advance will skin or replace your top bar allowing you to put the close buttion anywhere you like it.
Its got a host of other features as well.
Version 3 just came out and is $9.99 but I believe that Version 2 is now free.

[Req/Solved] a light simple d-pad sip [09/11/08 compatible fngkb 2.1]

At present time, I use Calligrapher for writing, but becaused I missed a dpad, I created one with Calligrapher.
But it is a little bit too small.
I would like a bigger one, like from the standard Keyboard size with five keys: up, down, lift, right, enter in one line.
A light one should be great.
Using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=479464 (fingerkeyboard
modified the skin as the attached picture
AEButton -> OK key :
single press = "spswitch FingerKeyb"
double press = "spswitch Full QWERTY"
attached is the zip with the skin and sipswitch

c-Copy v-Paste (use it a lot).
Thanks. Now I have to create my own skin.
Solved
thanks to jpl69 and creators of Fingerkeyb.
This is the best solution I've found so far to the lack of d-pad for Blackstone. Thank you! Most of my programs are now touch swiping anyway, but there's a few remaining *essential* apps which simply need the d-pad.
I'm using Rozenthal's FingerKeyboard, I'm mapping jpl69's spswitch file to double/triple press for ok key in AEBplus, and I'm using thierryb's skin.
The only problem is, that it takes ages for it to change sips and load it....what we really need is a standalone exe, not a sip dll that messes with your sips like this. Then we can map the exe it to hw button and it will just appear there at the bottom of screen.
So essentially I'm still hanging out for vijay555's mentioned d-pad app.
For me it takes roughly 1 sec to swith to it (except the first time)
I use htcextfun to switch from Calligrapher when my stylus is out to my dpad when my stylus is in.
Thanks for the skin for Fingerkeyb, but just a quick question. I normally use the dpad to navigate around Opera, but the problem is the SIP won't appear unless I'm entering text. Is there a way to make the SIP appear via hardware button?
how do you configure AE Button Plus to :
single press = "spswitch FingerKeyb"
double press = "spswitch Full QWERTY"

which one is the skin?
The request was in post one.
And the solution in post six.
If you read the post six you will find the solution and the way to do it.
how can I install the skin? thanks.
What have you already done or tried?
I put the skin file in the skins folder, and nothing. Then i erase the folder and create a new one whit the skin file in it, and nothing again...
this is exactly what you have to do:
-install fingerkeyboard
-copy my skin.txt in the skin folder
-activate fingerkeyboard
what happens when you activate fingerkeyboard?
I have a similar problem i think. put skin.txt in the skins folder, but when i activate fingerkeyboard, the keyboard shrinks to the correct height for the buttons (as per the image you posted), but i just get the top line of letters (qwertyuiop.... etc) instead of buttons.
using the new fingerkeyboard2, does that make a difference? was this skin written for an old version?

uninstall the old version. use the new 2.0 version. enjoy!
i am using the fkb in diamond and athena (the vga version) and on my hd. no problem at all! one of the greatest app ever posted here!
Think you misunderstood, I am using version 2.0, i've never used 1.4, so i don't have an "old" version to uninstall!! I've also tried reinstalling and resetting the phone.
same problem with both of the skins (jpl69's or thierryb's) in this thread, the keyboard size shrinks to the correct size to accomodate the buttons, but i just get either the top row of letters or the top 2 rows dependant on which skin i use!
Fingerkeyboard2 works perfectly as a normal keyboard, i just can't get the above skins to work.
Problems with getting dpad it working
Yes I am having the same problem as above. I'm only seeing a row of q w e r t y etc at the bottom at the same height as the row of navigation would be be. Everything is installed as best as I can tell.
I also am having trouble with finding a suitable button to use with AE button. I tried the phone (hard) key at the bottom left below the screen as it was the only one i thought i could do without. That didn't work. then i saw that the "ok" (green icon) button that you referred to was in the drop down list of buttons to map to link that (green). Is that what you are referring to as all the OK at the top right of the screen only closes/minimises the screen and what it did do was make my back (hard) button partially then fully close the Finger keyboard.
Can you please, please, please give more detailed instructions on what do to get it working on my touch hd. You have a such a GREAT idea but I (and maybe some others) just can't get it going without more details. Thanks in advance.

Searching a way to switch between programs

Hi everybody,
Every time i want to switch between applications on my HD, i go to the home screen, then i press the upper right icon and i select my app.
But i was wondering if there is a way to press a button for a longer period of time and to have on the screen a choice of the running apps.
Anybody knows if there exists?
Thanks in advanced!

try dotfred's task switcher.. no, I don't have a link, try the search button.
pBar 1.5,

wktask is also good
AEButton + has this feature embedded into a selection for hard button remap. I have my end call button open a little running apps window at the swift double tap.
IMO, Wktask is the best of them all. It works exactly like on your PC. All running program appears on the taskbar. To switch, simply touch it. No need to press another button to see what's running. No need to go to home screen. To close, press and hold on that button.
I think you can't get any simpler than that
wktask is ok... but I think it looks untidy in portrai - some of the text conflicts with the status icons.
Quickmenu has a built in task manager - that's the one I use.

Not really. If you know how to adjust the other aspect of the device such as whether or not you want battery rather than date to appear, etc. I always hide my battery and use the battery meter by wktask, therefore the difference between the battery and time width does not cause inconsistent appearance at all. Mine is very tidy on every page. Whether in landscape of portrait mode, my icon positions always starts from immediately after the window start button, and end just before the H icon. The only thing is I have to hide the message bubble and let the icon come just close to the H icon. I further configure wktask such that if there is no task, then the message bubble would become visible - a small price to pay.

Fair enough, mate... everyone is different and I use the message bubble often as well as bluetooth recieve and send and I find if I have wireless and bluetooth enabled then I can lose an icon or two. Maybe the next version will have an autofit function. Who knows.
actually I use wktask and i do agree it looks a little messy.
The messy things are:
1. when you click the start button, the white glow shows up behind the wktask bar and because wktask bar is not transparent, you see a bit black box over it.
2. You can see the txt sticking out the side from under the wktask bar of some programs with long names.
3. Sometimes it hides icons.
4. I think the battery bar looks ugly. (i disabled it in mine)
These haven't stopped me using it. The Launcher is quick to load a quick list of programs you can load. I hate the tf3d task manager drop down as it is soooo laggy.
Auto resize would fix half the uglyness but i'm not holding my breath for that.

The general (1) settings permit moving the task bar size to the right & left. Personally, I hide the start menu, (setting to 0 left) because I never use it. Then, you can adjust the right size to cover text.
The best think about wktask IMHO is the icons in the task bar....switch between apps and close by clicking "x" or other options available in settings.

1. The glow is only on the window start button, not on the task icon. that is if you adjust the left edge of the wktask to touch the window start button.
2 Choose PC style in the design tab to avoid this problem.
3. I adjust the right edge of task icon to touch the H icon. Yes, it covers the notification icons but I also specify in the first tab that it should hide task list when there is no task, so that I can still see eye them by closing all task. I configured such that click and hold of x button closes all tasks so it is very easy to check if there is any notification behind the task list.
Hope this helps

Install ADW.Launcher from the Market and you'll be able to customize what Anderweb [the developer] calls the left and right action buttons. I have, from left to right, the Phone, Messages, Gmail and Google Voice apps placed as "actions" surrounding the launcher button.
Or are you referring to the "Genius" hardware button on the handset...?
the legend rom eugene released gets rid of that genius button and turns it to a music button

[Q] No dedicated shortcut buttons for Browser/Launcher/Phone in Froyo

Has anyone else found that they don't have the three dedicated buttons on the bottom of the home page for Browser, Launcher and Phone, as was advertised in the Froyo features?
Mine still has the normal "Up arrow" on the left that goes to All Apps, the big "Phone" button in the middle, and the "+" button on the right to add an object to the home page (all exactly the same as in 2.1).
Is it just me, or is this the case with everyone? Can we get the new buttons? If so, how?

[Q] Android Notification Manager.

Hey guys, I am curious to know if there is a shortcut I can create to open my Notification bar, I am going for a minimalist look and I don't want the bar showing at the top of the screen, however it would be nice to see it at the click of a button from time to time.
I know I can press the Menu button and it will side down, but I was looking for something a little more in keeping with my tidy homescreen. Is it even possible to do that?
*Edit* I worked it out, there is an option in LauncherPro under Bahavior Settings/Home key action. Must have missed that one.
