Hi,
I'm in need of a few answers to my SBS 2k3 and Push email problems since my new SBS build.
Are there any Gurus out there that are quite experienced in it?
Using SBS 2k3 Exchange install right now on my Tytn II. What are your issues?
Hi,
My Old SBS 2k3 server died the other day so we rebuilt a new server on new hardware.
Applied all the updates and upgrades.
re loaded all my emails and contacts under my login name and now up and running receiving mail via SMTP.
I have now setup my hermes (flashed with WM6) to the server under active sync and it has brought across all my emails / contacts via the grps.
Now if I say add a calendar event to my hermes it within seconds has synced it with my servers client machine with no interaction from myself other than adding the event. (this way works fine)
Trouble is if I add an event to my client machines outlook it doesnt sync it with my phone for ages ( ie can take up to 10 minutes) or I have to manually initiate activesync on the phone.
So it pushes from the phone fine but the server doesnt push back properly.
The schedule under activesync on the phone is set to 'as items arrive'.
I hope this makes sense.
sbs 2k3 direct push
after you update an appointment from the PC open the inbox from the PPC and click on send/receive... see if that forces the updates to the phone.

I have a privately owned Qtek 9000 using the latest Imate Rom.
I have my personal email (from my home desktop) synced to the Pocket PC Partnership.
My organisation runs exchange server 2003 SP2 and I would ideally want to us push email to sync my business emails to my device, but keep the personal emails seperately.
I know Active Sync states that you can only sync one set of email accounts, but when I set up a partnership with my work pc the "sysnc with 'exchange' directly" option is offered. I have thus far declined this offer as I want to keep my personal mail sync.
Does the restriction on only syncing one email account apply to the scenario above?
Thanks
Hi Steven,
I think with the current version of ActivesSnc we are limited to only syncing one account at a time (either via Exchange or PC). I've tried a bunch of different options, but doesnt work with exchange.
The way I got it to work, is set up a new account with POP settings in the WM5 device, but this by passes activesync completely...
Good idea, I hadn't thought of that.
Thanks
I used to sync my hotmail and msn mails directly with Pocket MSN via ActiveSync, the messenger working too
Now with Live (pre-installed on WM5 AKU 3.5) it stop working (messenger) and i don't know how to re-configure mail accounts
any idea how to configure Hotmail or MSN with new Pocket Live
If any one has "Pocket MSN" installer please send it
best regards
Windows Live
I am using Ivan's AKU 3.5 and this does not come with Windows Live pre-installed. Therefore I downloaded the Windows Live cab-file from the xdev-ftp site and installed it. I just needed it to get access to my Hotmail account. After istallation I logged on to Windows Live and set up to only sync my email (not my contacts) and everything worked smoothly.
Dunno if it is of help, but there is no need to downgrade. I also 'tested' Helmi's UKA 3.5 and Windows Live worked for me (as far as I remember)

You can just copy the old PMSN from AKU2.0

I am using the Windows live and I do receive my hotmails without problems. In fact I would say it is better than previous pocket msn.
I have tested to sending myself a mail from other account. I have received the mail on my device ca. 15 -30 sec. after it has arrived on my hotmail inbox. It feels like push mail. Indeed I have started to forward my usual email accounts to hotmail and get it pushed to my device.
Who needs a exchange server :0)
I do exactly the same thing All my e-mail now goes to my hotmail account. Just be carefull that you don't drain the battery when staying connected
I was wondering if anyone has the cab installer for Pocket MSN. The ones before Windows Live? ... I've even asked this in another thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1090483&postcount=334
Is the above cab file the installer?

Strange.
PMSN puts the emails (send & receive) in "Hotmail Inbox/Sent" but Windows Live put the emails (receive? & send) in "Windows Live Inbox/Sent". At least those which I sent via Windows Live goes into "Windows Live Sent", not "Hotmail Sent".

Anyone has Live Messenger or Pocket Live worked via ActiveSync connection??
it doesn't work with me, but Pocket MSN does.
it fails at the final step with "Windows Live is unable to connect. The service may be temporarily unavailable, ..." error, but I have an internet connection (tested by IE)
Hello,
I'm a blackstone owner and I use Outlook on my mobile, outlook on my laptop and Internet Gmail box elsewhere to check and manage my emails stacked in a Gmail box. Around 2000 emails feature in this email box (more if you sum the #folders).
I would really appreciate to have all my emails synchronized (3G or WIFI) in my phone as it is on my laptop. This could for example allow me to read them even if I am not connected to 3G or WIFI.
It works fine on my laptop using Iap protocole.
But on the mobile,
I have tried MSexchange (activesync) but it do not :
push email in real time,
send the attachment,
apply the modification performed on the mobile on the Gmail box on the Internet (move an email to another folder for instance),
Understand the calendars,
And
stop synchronizing when around 750 emails are stacked in the mobile.
I also have tried Imap but when around 800 emails are stacked in the mobile, I cannot receive any other email (the synchro is frozen/never end)
Is there any limitation? any tips to change the limit? Do someone have a solution for me?
I don't know if there is a limitation, but my Exchange Server pushes the mails of the last seven days to my Touch HD. Sometimes >1000 mails/week are pushed without any problems. You have to checkmark the attachment setting if attachements should be saved as well. Subfolders won't be synced unless you checkmark them seperately.
I use only one calendar and all of it's elements are synced correctly.
Hi,
I'll be receiving my new toy next week and after being a HD2 user and growing tired of winmo I was hoping to have multiple exchange server support on the Desire.
According to android this is possible from 2.0.
However it seems HTC has disabled the function and only allows 1 exchange server to be entered.
My main reason for this setup would be to have my work e-mail and my google account ( mail/contact/calendar ) simultaniously on the phone.
Anybody got an idea how to get this working?
Perhaps a different app than the HTC mail application?
Any hints/tips would be appreciated
re: multiple Exchange server support
dirk07,
As far as I can see, there is no option for setting up more than one Exchange server in the Desire. As soon as you set up one Exchange account, when you try to add another account, "Exchange" is no longer in the list of options. However, you *can* have both Exchange and Gmail and numerous other mail accounts set up at the same time, which sounds like it would work for you. You normally would not access your Google account as an Exchange server, would you?
John
True..
However the reason I want to sync my gmail with exchange is cause I also need my contacts and calendar from them..
the work e-mail would need to be exchange as it is the only way I can reach it .. ( no imap/pop access )
Would it be possilbe when disableing sense?
or use something else to sync contacts/calendar?
Your contacts and calendar will come over automatically from your Google account (when you set up the phone, you provide your Google account details). You don't need anything related to Exchange to make your Google stuff synch - that is built into Android. I have a setup just like you, my work email comes across via Exchange, and the Google stuff comes across as well (contacts/calendar/mail) via the Google account setup on the phone.
John
Syncing contacts with more than one source is always a bad idea. I tried this on WinMo with exchange and windows live and found a couple of issues which you are likely to run into with exchange/gmail sync. They are:
1) Exchange sees the entries from live as unique, different entries resulting in duplicate contacts.
2) If you delete an entry from one source, it gets 'revived' when next sync with the other source.
There may be fixes for these issues now but I gave up on it long ago and use my exchange contacts folder as the source of truth.
Im pretty sure you would have experienced these problems before... just adding my 2p
Edit: forgot to mention - without sense, I don't even think you can sync contacts?? Anyone confirm?
@bcmobile
well i would only be syncing mail from one source and mail/contacts/calendar from another
I allready make a point of only keeping my contacts/calendar on one list so I dont get duplicates etc..
@jstegeman
I hope this works If google mail/contacts/calendar syncs by default I indeed would be able to add work mail as my one exchange source..
Guess I wont be able to test untill friday
you can definately have both setup i.e. exchange / gmail as i have. I only have contacts in exchange though. I have also setup gmail so can see emails from there also.
OK guys i thought i would summarise my battle with the energy ROM and activesync/sense 2.5 for my hd2
Previous i had o2 Uk's stock rom, it was ok, but my main mod was to pull email, contacts and calendar off my exchange server and sync the calendar and contacts with my google account through activesync. I used the EnableNonLocalCrossPolination method (ENLCP)to do this.
When i install this ROM i had one problem, the registry key ENLCP was not there. So i entered it and attempted the same trick. However sense would not let me add another activesync account.
Firstly i wiped the phone, then i went in and pair my phone with activesync on my pc. This would enable the ENLCP reg key that i was looking for. I then disconnected the phone, checked the ENLCP reg key on the phone, set it to 1, and then deleted the PC active sync profile on the phone and pc.
After another soft reset i disable sense from the home screen. Another soft reset.
On the next boot i enter the options for googles exchange server (m.google.com) and only ticked the contacts. These sync'd ok. I think enter microsofts email client and enter the 2nd exchange server. Here i only set it to sync my email. I then tested both exchange servers in activesync. They worked!
So i enabled calendar and contacts on both exchange servers and only email on one of them. This again sync'd great. I re-enalbed sense and did another soft reset for good measure.
Sense picked up the email exchange server, but not the google one! Great! Now i add the googlemail email as an imap account through sense and i am done.
Hopefully this helps someone as i have initially struggled with this ROM.
After updating to HTC froyo my mail app now deletes all previous messages in inbox when refreshing!! Anyone else had this problem??
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I was just looking for the same answer as you...flipping annoying as now it seems to purge my emails on my desire after the update once i've downloaded them on my home PC in Outlook. Never did this before the update and i've checked in the phone email settings how long to keep the mails in the inbox (set to 7 days at the mo) but it makes no difference. At least on WinMo you have a folder called outlook mail that keep them for a defined period.
I hope this can be fixed as i'm starting to not like the Android OS at all after being a WinMo user from day one.
It's just the simple things that let this OS down i think.
I have this prblem too.....any known fix???
You can try this.
"I was having the same issue, but have resolved it by changing my account settings from POP3 to IMAP."
Didn't work for me but who knows.
Experiencing the same here, after froyo update messages from my pop3 account seems to purge when deleted from server.
Needs a fix
Crap. I have the exact same problem. As soon as you download to your pc from the server the emails are gone. No solution yet? There is a workaround you can go to your native client (outlook) go to advanced setting and check "leave emails on server". Until this is fixed this is all we can do.
Here is a brief tutorial for Outlook 2003:
Under the Delivery section of the Advanced tab, Outlook 2003 lets you define how to handle downloaded and old emails on the mail server.
By default, Outlook 2003 downloads your emails from the server, and in effect deletes them from the server after successful downloads. Without needing access to the mail server itself, you can customize Outlook's email deletion behavior. Outlook 2003 gives you thee options.
Checking the Leave a copy of messages on the server checkbox instructs Outlook 2003 to leave a copy of your emails on the server indefinitely. You or your System Administrator will then need to delete the emails from the mail server itself.
Complementary options can refine how long, and under what conditions Outlook 2003 should leave a copy of your emails on the mail server; I have mine set to 30 days.
I have another workaround.
I forward emails to myself and the emails get stored in my SENT folder. Irritating, I know, but at least I have a copy of it on my phone.
same problem here
same problem here, sucks!!
Hope the fix it soon
Sorted problem on mine it was problem with server. I am on ntlworld.com and have to put "recent:" in front of username and now all ok.(not quotes)

Went over to Modaco and installed a completely stock based rooted ROM. Still doing the exact same thing.
