Hi,
How can we use 3G sim card in xda11? Is it possible to use or not possible?
Thnx
it should be of cause it will only run 2g(normal gsm)
and some operators block their 3g sims from being used in
2g phones i believe that the company 3 does

Hi,
I bought on the Ebay.com a HTC Harrier - Verizon XV6600, also known as Audiovox PPC6600 - now I want to use it somewhere else than USA - in which networks can I use the phone and how do I activate it?
The phone is 800/1900 Mhz CDMA device with out sim card slot!
Can I use it in a 3G network outside USA?
Thanks!
You can probably using it to any network that have CDMA service, to activate you have to call CDMA network provider, no I don't think you can use it as 3G, this is not a 3G device.
Actually the 6600 is a 3G device. If properly provisioned you can get EVDO. I have heard stories of users configuring it for use in other countries. If theres CDMA, it can be done. The verizon versions MSL unlock code is 000000, FYI
So I can use the Harrier in any CDMA 800/1900mhz network?
Doesn't it require a special software to be installed on the Harrier for each CDMA provider?
For instance - in my country there is one CDMA provider - it operates on 450mhz frequency and uses RUIM cards and the provider had no idea how to make this device work in their network!
Trough in my country there are also 2 GSM providers and the ofer EDGE and 3G services which operate in CDMA network - can I use those providers?
I'm really confused, because I don't know what to do with this device!!!
you can easily install a sim adaptor, (RUIM) it cost me a few bucks and it works. but you still need to unlock the radio.

Was wondering if anyone here with a 3 subscription in Ireland or the UK can use data on the 2nd sim when abroad (with the 3 sim in slot 1)? I'm currently a 3 customer and had an LG G4 dual sim phone before and it wasn't possible to use 3G or 4G on the 2nd sim because 3 can't run on 2G or Edge. So the 3 sim always had to have data access enabled.

You can only have data access on one sim at a time. You can switch which sim has the data access but the one with data access will have 4g/3g/2g and the other sim will be 3g/2g. I use EE and Three in mine both are able to get a signal and use calls and texts. EE is the data sim on mine and Three can still make and receive calls and texts.

I used to have this problem with my dual sim HTC M8 - because only one sim could be run in 3G/4G.
Be reassured, I now can run a 3 sim happily as second sim, the OP3 allows the second sim to run in 3G.
Many thanks for the replies! Just wanted to make sure I can use the local sim for data access as the 3 Like Home option is not very good for data speed
Hi there,
I have a Z5 Premium dual sim (E6833) using both Vodafone and KPN
When I set the mobile network to LTE it pushes away the complete signal of that particular sim. Setting it into WCDMA I have a strong signal and putting it into GSM the signal is at max.
This seems not to be location related as a tried it on multiple locations and checked it with other people who are on the same network without having issues.
changed the setting to the 2nd sim and I experience the same for the other sim.
The sim with the lowest mobile network speed has the best signal.
How come and can it be changed? Earlier dual sim phone (cheaper ones) did not experience this isseu (honor 7 and Oneplus3)
Thanks for the help and advise
(sorry for the bad english...)
I can't find a solid answer on this. I'm looking for a dual SIM phone that doesn't limit the 2nd SIM to 2G, like most older dual SIM phones. I found one source online that says it does support 3G on SIM2 after a software upgrade.
In particular I'm curious if it's supported on LineageOS ROM. My question in the relevant thread for that has gone unanswered. For now I'd be happy to know that it works even with stock.
You can run either the first or the second SIM on 3G, but you can't run both at once on 3G. As soon as you set one SIM to 3G, the other drops back to 2G. This defeats the purpose of Dual Sim in countries like Australia that have stopped using 2G. There's only one 3G radio in the phone.
This information is for the A7 2017, but presumably it's the same for the A5 2017.
A520F-DS, the dual 3G/2G works. At least dual standby. Stock TW. Also works with 4G on 1 SIM.

Some apps might not update the signal strength(Android 1 telephony API, single SIM, 2G doesn't really support the newer(cellids only, no signal strength unless it's matched with the neighbouring cell info), 3G dual, and most of 4G is OK). To fix this, insert 2 sims, set 1 as default for everything, remove that SIM, the signal strength will update for the other SIM.
Band Selection(3G/2G only unless the other SIM is set to that) and Band Disable(4G/3G) works and only applies on the selected SIM. Requires root or specific CSCs.
Cell Locking applies only on SIM 1 and could affect SIM 2.
I've owned three different dual SIM phones (current one is the A3) and none of them could do more than 2G for the "other" SIM. Totally agree with @ryebuck that it defeats the purpose of dual SIM devices in some countries, the more so when more countries will drop 2G in the future. Either manufacturers start making REAL dual phones, or the dual concept will die of its own death.
