I posted this in the General Hermes, to no avail...
im trying to set a 15 second MP3 to play when i get a new text message, but it plays out the entire mp3 even after i hit Dismiss...
id like it know if its possible to silence it, such as when you read it, to automatically silence it...similar to how, say, a flip phone silences the tone if you upen the phone up...?
thanks in advance
you mean to stop the playback while in the middle of it?
Why don't you use Audacity or some such to trim it down to something shorter
yes, i want too stop it mid-playback - i already trimmed the song with audacity
I don't think this is possible.
Just trim it some more!

Hi all !!!
I've been looking for some time for a fake call location or something similar for windows mobile.
The aim is to be able to share a sound during a call, such as an .mp3, .amr... And beeing able to start the playing at the beggining of the call as well as during the call. It seems the app already existes for iphone but none for windows phone.
Could anyone help me get this kind of app.
Thanks
May the force be with you
Does anyone knows how to do such an app, or am i the only one seeing a use in it?
Hi again,
I'm thinking of adding more to this, such as a phone answering recorder. It would mute both mic and speacker, while giving a recorded message of your own to the caller and record his answer.
It could also be usefull to be able to start it during a call. If you want to say hi to someone but don't have the time to chat.
So basicly, the app would be able to:
-share a sound during a conversation or at the beggining
-start a phone recorder during or at the beggining of a conversation (muting mic and speaker while sharing a sound and recording)
Does anyone would have time to do such an app?
Thanks
eh?
Like when you start talking with somebody on the phone, they can maybe hear a train whistle, giving them the idea that you are near a railway station?
Or a car horn so that you can fool your girlfriend in to thinking that you are in the car when you are actually in bed with another girlfriend?
Yes, that's about the idea.
You could also use it some other ways. Like make listen the caller a vocal message you had recorded earlyer on your phone.
PS: i am not responsible for what you do with your girlfrind...
This is how i would see the design.
The Record msg button would play a pre-recorded message and record the answer from the caller and create a .arm file.
The Record call should record the call and create a .arm file.
The play sound should open a quick menu to choose a sound from a folder predefined (My Documents for exemple)
I hope someone is willing to do such an app.
Cheers

I have found an old app for WM2003 which does about what i need (playing a background sound during a call).
GotTaGo
Could anyone make something new on WM6.5 ?
Cheers
I have a question that I know I am going to feel dumb for asking. Is there anyway to silence all sounds, both system and rings, except WMP? I love to listen to music on my ophone through my stereo and everything is fine until I get an email, text, or especially a phone call. I have tried turning the ringer off and leaving the system sounds, but the text and email sounds still come through. Hearing my text message tone right in ther middle of a KoRn song is quite irritating . Thanks in advance for all the help!!
Is there a way to set Pandora as my ringtone?!
So when someone calls a different song plays.
Thanks
Steve

But .. then you not know if it is your phone.
.... Randomacts kinda has a point there. haha. How would you know it's your phone ringing if a random song plays every time it rings. It would actually probably drive you nuts. Every time you'd hear music, you'd pull the phone out of your pocket just to make sure.
Year get your point but I want to be able to setup either my Pandora or satellite radio as my alarm.
I guess that would be to silly to have a random ringtone.
Steve
Yea. As far as i'm aware, it's not possible. I could be wrong... but i really don't see anybody else having thought of doing that and developing an app or something for it considering what was already pointed out.
I have actually thought it would be neat to have random ringtones, but i highly doubt it would even be possible through pandora or any other streaming type source. The only way i see it even being feasible is if pandora was constantly streaming in the background and just passed the audio through to the speaker when the ringtone is called upon. As far as my thoughts towards random ringtones i have a handful i like to switch between, most of which are ones i've ripped from mp3's, something like a ringtone playlist that just picked a random tone from the list. This way you would still know it was your phone ringing.
Hello XDA!
I have heard great things about you and used some of your root and Kernel releases. Thanks!
I think I may be ready to go the the next level (for a dammed newbie) in jacking up my Galaxy S3, and applying the latest manipulations you guys have going. I have two very important questions:
1:
when I start speech recognition, it emits a loud "bleepBloop" to inform me that it is ready, and then another bleep (a different one) when I am finished entering voice data.
Other forums have called this the "speech recognition bleep" and called it a generated tone.
I have also seen a secret code #*7200# that is supposed to mute the tone generator on an S3, but I am not sure of it will also mute the custom sounds I have for my rings and alerts
Using root browser, I have gone to every folder I know of in "system-media", and renamed or deleted all the sounds except for the five I use, (Email, SMS, Facebook alert, Ringtone and alarm tone) and I also searched for every aiff, MP3, Ogg, or WAV file I could find on the phone and could not find anything like what I hear every time I search using google, or enter voice to text mode.
this is baffling. Where are these sounds located on my S3? how can I get rid of them?
2: What are your recommendations for making my S3 as fast as possible?
Thanks!
PM
It's very possible that the sounds are stored in the app itself in the raw folder.
Where is the Raw file or file folder located?
thanks!
Ok so far I like it - and I love the watch
Maybe a have this wrong....
Mute the watch also mutes the phone
muting the phone does not mute the watch????
So you are in a meeting and you place your hand over the phone, or flip it on its back to mute but your watch keeps ringing! Is it working differently for other people? It just seems so dumb - when would you want to mute the phone in a situation as above but want the watch to keep making sound?
App makers - start building - help us to get the most out of this new asset
I am finding the speaker to be inconsistent across manufacturer phones. I have an LG G4 and it mostly plays nice. I haven't put the call feature through the full tests but I did notice that when I was on the phone-phone and a 2nd call came through, flipping over to the 2nd caller automatically caused my watch to activate and audio conversation came from the watch, even though I did everything on the phone.
I haven't checked the muted issues, but that could really be an issue I need to really test. I have constant conference calls where I mute. I also work from home most days. I would HATE HATE HATE to mute the phone and talking dirty to my passing GF. Fortunately I do not wear the watch much at home but good to know.
sound Alarm
Sorry can not help you in terms of your question, I'm looking to settle another matter! How can add and change alarm tones or notifications, because I have not found tones than only to call?

You have to do it manually, and you have to be rooted. Admittedly this info. is in the the wrong thread, but Motawa88 posted there, so I helped him out there.
Starting at post #353: http://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...skin1980s-huawei-watch-kernel-t3219576/page36
I suggest maybe starting a separate thread instead of posting ringtone/alarm tones in a kernel thread :good:
