I bought my TouchPro2 through Mobile Phones Direct.co.uk, back in June '09. Just recently it started giving me problems with the ExtUSB. Have to fiddle with it just to make it take a charge, and I've given up trying to get to to connect to PC via USB.
Today it has got to the point where sliding the screen up or down too fast turns the phone off. Then I have to press power button to turn it on again.
I understand HTC supply a 24 month warranty. At least that's what my warranty card leaflet says. I already check the water indicators on the bottom of battery and next to MicroSD slot, they are both good (white with red crosshatchings.)
I have two concerns thought.
1) Is there a way for me to confirm that the Rom/SPL etc that I am using are the official ones that won't validate my warranty. I am pretty sure I never did any modding to this phone, only to my old Kaiser. But to be sure I would like to double check. ANy advice on how to do this?
2) My major worry is that my phone has loads of scratches on the screen, on the corners where paint is chipped. The battery cover is in a bad way too, the top left corner has a small crack and the metal strip in the middle of it has broken off around the camera lens.
So I am worried that HTC will tell me that whatever my problems are are because of normal wear and tear and therefore wont fix my phone. The thing is though all these problems are merely aesthetic which is why they never bothered me too much (at least once the first scratch is out the way anyway). My phone worked fine for ages despite these superficial defects (I never used a screen protector or case, phone used to go in my pocket along with coins, keys etc., and of course it did sustain the occasional drop).
Can anyone advise me as to whether this will be a problem? If HTC refused to fix/replace it then I would rather not send it in, to avoid the fee for returning it.
P.S. Also I don't know if I still have the paper invoice to prove purchase, will the emailed invoice be proof of purchase if I can't find the paper copy?
Oh yeh and finally, I don't have any insurance, so I am completely dependent on this warranty being honoured.l
I returned my Pro2 to the UK centre earlier this year. They don't need proof of purchase believe it or not, they never asked me once for mine, however, the electronic one will be fine as say you bought it on eBay, you wouldn't have a paper copy necessarily.
Also, I was using using a different stylus, had many programs like HD Walls and REStart and so on packed in there. Changed the home screen, even edited the files in the Windows directory that mailla used, altering them to say "Kev's Messages" and so on, and they never said a thing to me. My reason for returning is that the hard keys weren't working, they repaired it and flashed a new ROM on it and they never once had an issue with the "state" (if you will) that my Pro2 was in. Also I had many scratches on the battery pack and so on so I think you'll be fine! I hope this helps!
Thanks for your reply, salemfox. I'm going to give HTC a call tomorrow to arrange for them to collect the device.
In the mean time if anyone has any other advice than please let me know before I arrange for it to be sent in tomorrow.
How did it turn out?
not good,
arguing on phone to some dude now.
they originally sent me email saying device wasnt in warranty choose 1 of 3 options
1) pay 160ish £ to repair device
2) pay 20 to have device returned to me
3) allow htc to dispose of device
obviously didnt want to choose any of the 3 options, so i rang htc. spoke to someone who repeated options to me, saying if i did nothing then my device would be disposed of. I said i want to escalate matter, he told me theres no point, they'll tell me the same thing. I said i want to escalate anwyay, he told me to fill out service escalation form from htc website. found this at http://www.htc.com/uk/serviceescalation.aspx (even though its not linked to, anywhere in uk htc site)
filled that out on 6/10/10. never got any reply or anything. last friday 22/10/10 i got another email asking which option of the 3 i wanted to choose. rang htc back, told em how come no ones replied to my service escalation form, first person told me that the guy i originally spoke to (6/10/10) WAS the guy who escalated the issue, i was like WTF?? she said hang on, passed me to someone else, who said it had been escalated , i just didnt get the reply, but that he had in writing from the people who the matter was escalated to, that phone wont be fixed under warranty, i started complainign, saying i filled out the escalation form because i wanted to speak to someone who was higher up, and that i gave my contact details so i expected a reply FROM THEM. He then said he'd let me speak to his superior, which i did, and that guy repeated the same, first saying what form did i fill out, calaiming theres only customer care form on the website, but i told him original guy i spoke to told me to fill out the service escalation form, which i found (only by googling and guessing url).
I told him check the phone convo which should have been recorded, and he would see that i was advised to fill out SERVICE ESCALATION form from HTC website, which i did. he said he will check photos to see if the visual damage is minor enough that they will continue to repair anyway, (i doubt it , coz it had one pretty deep scratch in the screen, and back battery cover was cracked in corner). He also said he'll get original guy who i told me to fill out esclation form to call me back tomorrow.
I think theyre lying, noone seems to have done anythign about my escalation form. They say that the matter was escalated and that they have it back, in writing, that phone is not under warranty, but then why didnt anyone tell me anyof this, i wasn't contacted despite leaving contact info in contact fields of escalation form.
GRRRR, i knew this would happen, any excuse to get out of fixing the damn thing, i keep saying that im not bothered about the aesthetic damage (scratched screen, small crack in battery cover) since my phone worked fine for ages WITH these problems. i want them to fix the fact that my phones extUSB connector has gone dodgy, and that phones turns off, when i slide it open.
Not had phone for ages now, using old kaiser, but the touch screen doesnt work on this.
so bascally they are ssaying that due to visual damage (scratch, crack) phone isnt in warranty. I keep saying thats not whats caused problem, so just fix problem then. they say they can't half fix phone. so i say then fix the whole thing, but dont ask me to pay for it.
I mean seriously though, i've had the phone for almost 2 years, ofcourse theirs gonna be scratches and stuff, how can they say that puts my phone out of warranty!! (((
I'll keep u guys posted. sorry for poor grammar etc.
Could tell you woes a plenty,
email me at j-r at watchet.net and I can give direct names and contacts for escalation at HTC UK. When you get the right man, not too bad but not in call centre!
BEWARE unless guaranteed in writing they will flash the device with the latest win 6.5 rom and you will lose everything.
Even if they agree not to touch it, still often hard reset!
I'm fighting them for a LOT of compensation - for time, ignoring written instructions and £80 of telephone calls. Wil sue them if don't get anywhere this week.

None of those things violate the warranty. Just hard resetting clears all of those. HardSPL and flashing a custom ROM violate the warranty.

Yeah but I just assumed if they picky they could refuse on the basis of "you're changing what you're not meant to"...
My Desire Z was stolen today.
It was brand new. It had phone finder activated, but somehow it is not working on the site. Somebody please advise me how can i trace the phone
Really really please. Is there anyway, through gps, cell signal, or anything to track my phone. I put in my entire savings on this phone. I will be deeply thankful to even any little advice.

If he/she turn ur phone off any gps tracker from market app doesn't work, if he knows something about phones he can just factory reset your phone so anything doesn't help at all.
Fly like a G2
If you had a Sense ROM and signed up for HTC Sense, there is a phone finder there. That's about my only other suggestion. Like the guy above said though, if whoever has it knows anything about phones, they could easily get past any GPS apps.
I know this is too little too late, but next time try "theft aware" it embeds itself within the firmware to where you are unable to factory reset it. I got mine back that way, though I think I left it at the bar.
sorry to hear that
I don't wanna pass judgement but maybe you shouldnt spend your entire savings on a phone? I wouldnt put all my savings into a device that is easily targeted for theft.
And if you did spend all your savings on a phone, why not just get handset insurance? As stated above most ways of recovering ur phone as far as apps are concerned can be bypassed by a mildly smart thief.

i just tried the theft aware app that the guy recommend above damn this app is good brah, even without data connection it forces the stolen phone to call the phone your using so you can hear him, even the gps whenever available it will send it to you and so much more can lock, wipe and alarm
Sucks... my right hand man got stolen yesterday.. so customized and so many good photos and videos on it.. crap!! I'm in the Dominican Republic.. 2nd to last day of a 2 week vacation and someone takes it when I wasn't looking off a table at a restaurant! I almost transferred photos the previous night too! Anyway just had to let some people know that can truly feel my pain. Anyone know Asurion's deductible on this phone? I can't do anything with my Sprint account or Asurion till I get back in the states cuz I cant figure my pin or my "first car" security question and I think Sprint site it blocked from loggin in this country..
I was at work and had my phone charging next to demo phones bc we were slow. Next thing I know it was gone. I immediately went to the door and locked it and called my number hoping I would catch someone in the act and lay it on them...it started ringing next to a couple that was with my manager. Seeing the look in my eye he immediately said that he took it off the charger so no one took it. I think the red on my face gave it away that I was going to get it and get fired by my actions or it was going to get handed back to me. Luckily I have phone nerds watching my back when I get busy lol.

Sorry to hear your phone got stolen (especially with your awesome pictures). The deduction for a new phone will be $100 thru the TEP. You can do it online, as long as you order before 11pm, you should have your phone the next day, unless its on backorder.

Install Plan B from the android market, it's free (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lookout.labs.planb)
If your phone is still on, it'll download itself to your phone and send you an email about its location. You can also text your phone a keyword (I think it's 'locate', the exact word is on the android marketplace) and it'll give you an updated location. It might not work, but it's worth a try.
^ There's a good idea. And in the future you should really have something like Androidlost on it so you can track and wipe it remotely.
I kinda want mine to be stolen. I have mine set that whenever it boots another number I have gets a text with its network location and gps location. I can also text it a word and it will respond with the location. I have not yet figured out how to wipe the device with a modded rom so if they remove the sd card they have access to all of my pics and info, but I'll know where they are and I have another action text word to take a pic and send to me so I'll see who they are too.
OP that blows I'm sorry. When I got this phone I had a nightmare that a idiot took my phone and accudentally bricked it. I was pissed! Lol

yes and no, does that make any sense? lol. My phone is a part of me so that would suck, but because it is a part of me I have set up ways to track it if lost. Sure I could give my phone to a friend to test, but my friends are like me and I might get one location before they wiped it. I would like to know how effective my precautions and protections are against a real world situation.
What apps can take pictures of the thief ?

Well I installed plan b.. wish there was an app I could install remotely that would wipe the phone automatically.. or self destruct it..hehe... thanks for the replies and ideas. I tried to claim through asurion but my pin is wrong as well as my 'first car" question.. would be nice because I get home Friday.. would be nice if there was new one waiting. Does anyone know what the default "pin" could be .. like date of birth .. or something else? I tried date of birth but didn't work unless it's a different format.
i think the default pin is 123456. i could be wrong though...
i just know that when i got my evo, i never picked a pin and that's what i had when i finally remembered to change it.
Not the same, but wanted to comment on getting stuff stolen.
You can never be too cautious. About 10 years ago, I went to Mexico with my school (senior year Spanish class trip), and we were getting ready to leave from a hotel. We were sitting on a bench, 3 guys, and I went to help people get the bags in the bus. Told the guys to watch the bag, but a few seconds later I saw them next to me. So I ran to the bench, and it was gone. Had a brand new digital camera (3mpx back then), my CD player with all my CDs, etc. It just messed the entire trip. It was bad.
I'd like to say that when you're out of your comfort area you can never be too cautious...but...you can NEVER be too cautious no matter where you are. I didn't get anything, but I surely tried looking everywhere to see if I could find somebody with my bag, or the camera, etc.
The thing with the phone, is that nowadays, the phone is your digital camera, your CD player, your facebook portal, has your email, documents... This summer, my wife left her phone at McDonalds. We were on a 1000-mile trip, so this was just one stop in the middle of nowhere. Right away I asked her to check for her phone. She thought I had it, I thought she got it...Had to turn around in the highway (one of those "only emergency vehicles" turns) and went back to McD. Of course she was freaking out. Her facebook, the phone was unprotected, had access to all her mail, her contacts, etc, etc. I went there, looked for it, called it, nothing. Looked like if someone was hanging up when I called. I asked the manager at McD and I guess somebody cleaning found it and brought it to the back.
I was of the lucky ones.
Follow these guys' advice: protect your phone, because you don't know when sh$t will happen. It could be you, your girlfriend, wife, daughter, son, husband...somehow, somewhere, chances are a phone may go missing. So protect it while you can.
Guys,
Was wondering if any of you are suffering from HTC service center as i do.
Would like to let you know about my experience.
I have purchased my device about 6 months in Taiwan as in my country it wasn't available yet.
After a month of use i experienced some issues with the power button & 3G signal, and send the device to Greece service center.
After about 8 weeks that i didn't get my device back, I couldn't keep quite about the fix duration I raised a complaint via HTC site.
Surprisingly they have apologized (more then once) and sent me an "HTC Desire HD" as a compensation & my device was fix in a matter of days
Now things go terribly wrong, i got my device broken!!! and not by me, you could clearly see that in the attempt of pulling the screen out of the cover they have BROKEN it!!!
Yet again i found my self complaining about the "FIX" and the conclusion of the investigation that HTC raised was that i have broken it ???:silly:
Luckily for me i have talk with the local distributor about my case and he have changed my cover for FREE (yes, yes FREE!!!)
After all that saga i have found that the signal issue was not fix and i have send the device again to HTC Greece center.
They have signed on the delivery of the package on the 26/10/2012
UNTIL TODAY (AFTER 8 WEEKS) THEY ONLY SAY THAT THEY ARE WAITING FOR SOME PARTS TO FIX MY DEVICE!!!
I'm MAD for the premium money i had to pay for such a service.
I'm kind of HTC freak and had 8 different devices for about 6 years,I think that it's not becoming to such a large company to have service issues.
Hopefully will get my "ONE X" soon and start to enjoy it
Have you all a nice weekend and Merry Christmas.
Dotan.
Worsrt service in greece
I just got screwed from htc greece today...
I send my phone for repair the first time for screen scratches as i bought the phone and had scratches.
And after a month of lying that they cant see the serial number of the device i got it back with a note saying that they found no problem... a month to tell me they found no problem.
Second time i send it in after 5 months of having the device for the wi fi problem and those bastards at htc greece kept my phone for 40 days and then i tryed to contact them they said that they changed the battery and the motherboard and are waiting a third part NOT TRUE i got the device nack with the repair note saying that they only changed the motherboard.
After almost 2 months i got my device with a diferent problem it looses gsm signal and i have to restart the phone to get signal.
Here is the good part i send it back and they told me they wont accept my waranty because the screen is not in perfect place and i have to pay 180 euro for the repair WTF, the way i see it they are lying to avoid the waranty since they are the ones who opened my phone 3 times.
Screw htc greece they are thiefs trying to avoid my waranty, i even told them ok lets asume that the screen somehow moved why wont you change the damn faulty motherboard you installed, and they answer "sorry since the screen is a bit missplaced we cant accept the waranty".
Htc greece = fraud now i have to press charges for fraud...
Why did i even bother to leave the samsung sceen this was my first and last htc device.
No doubt it was a great device and it still is but htc greece service is the mafia of mobile phones..
sorry to hear that my friend, hope you'll get the device soon!! i have it for 3 weeks now and its amazing, so hope they'll get it fix so you could enjoy it too!
Tell them "A yamissoo roofiyanos"
Sent from...... Who cares any way.
they insist i have to pay...i contacted my lawyer and he will press charges for fraud. Such a same for a so great device to have such a lame servise.
To kedp it short i send in my device for the wi fi issue and they send it back with a faulty motherboard that they installed tha loosed gsm signal completely and i have to restart
And they dont accept my waranty because they say the screen is a bit missplaced and they are the ones who opened my phone 3 times for repairs.
The irony is that i didnt want to root so i wont loose the warranty...
man..if u want premium service..buy an Iphone....and in 5 days u'll recieve one new.
i think that my htc one x got some wifi issues but after reading some of the complaint about the services, i'm kind of afraid to send it for repair now.
Thanks Guys.
I really hope to get my HTC OneX soon.
One thing for sure is that will sell it as soon as possible and will move to a better service oriented company.
"nemer12" i know you are right about the service, but iPhone????
HTC should reorganize there stuff and understand that without service they will be in the same spot as RIM today.
Will keep you posted.
from what i understand its better to solve the wi fi isue your self since you wont void the waranty.
you void the waranty if you remove the motherboard where the waranty sticker is
If you send it in for.service... then you are for a treat, they might even whant to avoid the waranty and try to make you pay like they did to me
Hi Guys,
Another week has passed, and we start week number 9.
Still no word from HTC service center about repair time frame.
I have also send a note to VP of customer care in FB :fingers-crossed: , but didn't get any reply just yet.
Really hope that my phone is not lost forever in there system.
Keep you posted in a week.
if i have to pay for the wifi fix then i will go to law ...because it's not my fault and yes...but i hope germany and there " HTC service" is not so bad like in other countries...
propably you will be fine i dont think service in germany act like in greece, in greece they try to robe you, i bet if i had a single scratch they would say that scratching my phone voids the waranty.
I actually got the best service. My bootloader was relocked, and they replaced my whole screen and fixed the wifi hardware problem in 5 days. Of course they charged for the screen. Also, when I told them from which shop I bought it from, they didnt even ask for a receipt!
In every country you have another office and different people, people don't want to face that but they should think a bit further then only there nose.
A company policy should be legal and straight forward in a contract but a company can't help it if they have some lazy dickheads working for them who are fat up of the daily routine (which I can understand as well in certain circumstance :laugh
or some moaners on a forum who like to kill because they are not satisfied with 'some service' if you know what I mean.
I personally had one issue with a phone of HTC (a few years ago) but they were so friendly on the phone when I called them, they asked me some details and picked up and returned the phone fixed in a couple of days.
Ofcourse if you buy a second hand phone on eBay with a limited or no warrentee you won't have the same service by HTC.
The phone I talk about I got as a present from someone who donated it to me from the US as a thanks because of the roms I cooked,
but HTC didn't have a problem at all repairing a US phone in the EU.
The only problem I had with this phone is that I had to pay a lot of import tax even if it was sent as a present.
You get my point? In all corners of the world you have different people and you can't just blame a company for that here on the board.
So do your moaning to the company and try to hit the dickheads, it's so wrong trying to kill a company in general, it sucks what you are doing to my opinion.
Ofcourse everyone has a different story but to my opinion it sucks if you start crying on a board like this, it's wrong and stupid.
I'm using HTC phones for years, I don't say they are perfect as 'every phone has its limits', but you will face that on any phone you think it can be good no matter which manufacturer.
Sorry about my English, it isn't perfect but I only like to make my point, and you can dig up my profile
but I never moaned about a company on the board.
You are not only trying to kill a company but also what used to be a friendly community, that's what I'm trying to explane, think further then only your nose.

Sorry my friend, you totaly missed my point.
I have never tried to "KILL" HTC, there devices are my favorites and i have purchased 6 different models in the passed years.
i have tried to address the service support about my device more then enough for the last 9 weeks !!!
and always i find my self back i the same spot, that is the person in customer care say to me that they understand that it takes too long and they are sorry but they don't are a repair time frame.
And that my friend is not acceptable, i would think that HTC could send me a new device if they can't repair.
But there is no answer from HTC side and it's very disappointing, and i'm trying that someone will wake up and give the right service.
About all your other comments i would rather not address (lets keep it in an adult manner).
Have a nice day.
You don't need to apologise to me.
I didn't miss your point as I do not miss many moaners here on the board, moaners who do miss my point and keep continue coming here, stubborn people who probably never want to understand.
To my opinion you do try to KILL HTC as what else are you trying here, you think you will get a new phone with opening this thread?
Anyway you did made your point as I understand it's useless to answer people like you.
You too, have a nice day.

Or if she didnt want that the gave her a discount of 150 euros to buy a new Iphone 4S......
Hi all,
I am not sure if this is better in a different Thread, so admin please move if so..
BE CAREFULL !!!! If you plan to root you S9, do NEVER do the following:
Switch on your S9 for the very first time and once you are forced to set-up a new google account, REMEMBER the data you enter !!!!!!!
Even if you (like me) do not want a google account, do not enter anything stupid, a password that you dont remember...
BECAUSE, if you now do a factory-reset from the bootloder, the phone will be lost forever!!!!!
You will have to send your phone to a SAMSUNG Service-center for unlock...
Thanks to Google and Samsung, this "feature" is very close to be illegal...
That sounds like FRP lock. If you know what you're doing (and you didn't steal the phone) there are ways around it.

This has been the case for a long time, and the same with iPhones, don't forget your login, make sure you have a recovery for your email password and don't steal phones
Not sure why it should be illegal to protect people's personal info

What's actually illegal is people "forgetting" their password for "their" (newly acquired) phone.
So yeah. Let's totally make it easier to bypass you forgetting your password. While we're at it, let's just get rid of all security measures because they can be inconvenient at times.
FRP is a Documented Feature
The online Samsung S9 documentation does document the Factory Data Reset process. While this is surprising if it happens to you the feature is designed to help make stolen phone less valuable. At least in theory.
Note: When you sign in to a Google Account on your device, Factory Reset Protection is activated. This protects your device in the event it is lost or stolen. If you reset your device to factory default settings with the Factory Reset Protection (FRP) feature activated, you must enter the user name and password for a registered Google Account to regain access to the
device. You will not be able to access the device without the correct credentials.

Hi all,
I am not sure if this is better in a different Thread, so admin please move if so..

No, that's why they call them smart phones, you need to be smart to use them.
Well, I do have the invoice from MY NOT STOLEN Phone.......
And an "anti-theft-feature" basically does not protect the phone from being stolen. It is simply not usable, but nevertheless the victim has a certain damage...
So, how can this kind of feature by advanced? VERY easy: In case of theft, the owner of a phone may log into his accoount from any other Computer and he ACTIVELY (!!!) has to quote his phone was stolen. NOW it can be locked.
I will send my phone to Samsung this week. I will expect thay RESET it for free...
Or maybe contact google... I remember the password but not the account... So maybe they can tell me the account-name if I gave the IMEA number...

That sounds like FRP lock. If you know what you're doing (and you didn't steal the phone) there are ways around it.

I already tried a lot of workarounds, so far with no success. Off course it is not stolen, I will make an image of the invoice later today if everybody mistrust me...
I will try that google give me the account-name I have created, because I do remember the password. I assume, that the account is tied to the IMEI of the phone...
If this does not help me out, I will se how far I will get using ADB. Luckily I activated USB debugging before I did the big mistake.
As last Option I will have to send the phone to a Samsung Service center...
Lets see...

So OK let's reverse this scenario, you buy an S9, you secure it with your Google account, someone steals your phone, they use whatever method you are wishing for to unlock the device, and now they have access to all of your info, data, media, and also a brand new S9 for themselves
You are happy about this, right?
Or even if we say they reset the device, so your info is safe, they now have a brand new S9 for themselves. you are also happy about this too right?
Or how about the scenario when people already know it is useless resetting the phone because there is no way to unlock it without the original Google account login (Same as iPhone), now they don't bother stealing your phone because it would be useless to them, so now you get to keep your expensive S9 because they didn't want to steal it
Which scenario makes you happiest?
If you forget absolutely everything about the account you used for your phone, for some reason you do not have any record of it from other reset email accounts you should have added, then you have no-one to shout at other than yourself, you messed up, not Samsung or Google, YOU

I do not fully agree!
If my phone is stolen, I will ACTIVATE the anti-theft-protection after it has been stolen.
Normally someone would recognize very fast that it has been stolen. It does not matter whether the stolen phone is deactivated right now or some hours later. It will be unusable from this moment, the owner deactivates...
No one is happy about a stolen phone, but stolen is stolen, regardless if the thief can use it or not. The damage I have anyway...
Imagine you buy a Windows-PC. But you prefer Linux, format the HDD and try to install linux. But some geniusses decided that your PC will no longer be usable... Really a good idea??
It should go without saying that having an invoice showing the purchase of a phone, if purchased from other than the manufacturer or cellular provider, does not eliminate the possibility that the phone was reported stolen by a previous purchaser/owner. I would much rather have my phone automatically rendered inoperable by anyone not having my password and/or Google account information than give them the opportunity to acccess it during the lag time spanning the period that: 1) I realized my phone is lost; 2) I successfully reported the loss to the carrier or manufacturer having the ability to hard lock the device; and 3) the carrier/manufacturer actually locks the device.

Well yes and no To me, the probability to "loose" my phone in a way I accitentially did is much higher than it might be stolen...
So do you mean, even I can proove the purchase, I do not have the right that Samsung unlocks it??? See, if it is stolen, I cannot use it. If I do 2 SOFTWARE based steps, I cannot use it. It is lost in both cases, so non of them is good...
If you can prove the purchase, and -- if you are not the original purchaser - no prior owner has reported the phone lost or stolen and there is no related bad IMEI issue -- then I would agree that you should have the right to have the phone unlocked/reactivated by Samsung or the carrier. I suspect Samsung or the carrier will check to make sure that a lost/stolen phone report is not received in the interim.

Your argument is weak, it is a LOT more difficult to lose a PC than a phone, it is a LOT more difficult to steal a PC than a phone
Thousands (maybe millions) of phones are lost and stolen every day around the world, PCs not so much...
Why would you buy a Windows PC if you wanted Linux? Wouldn't you just build a PC and install Linux from day 1?
At the end of the day, for whatever reasons you are p*ssed because you are locked out of your phone, the reason you are locked out is your own fault, you are looking to blame someone when all you need to do is look in the mirror
Maybe Samsung will unlock it if you can prove proof of ownership, maybe... but by the sounds of it, you didn't buy it new, which leads us right back to the possibility of it being stolen, which is likely the same conclusion Samsung will come to

Just talked to Samsung support. Will cost me about 35€ to get the security chip changed.
Ok, could have been worse...

I'm not saying that you stole the phone but because you don't take making your account seriously the rest of us have to have security that is easily bypassed for our phones? I don't think so.
You screwed up and now you're paying the price. Hopefully you can get things sorted out and get access to your phone. In the very least though, you'll never do something so stupid again right?

Exactly. At least, we know by now, that there is a physical security-chip inside the phones
I am just wondering, why this forum does exist.. I assume a lot of us like custom ROMs , rooting etc. because we like to get rid of google and other bloatware. At least this it what I personally like to... But if a google "feature" locks someone from his own phone, he suddenly is a criminal ?!?!?!
OK. @admin - better close this thread as it does not really helps us.
