Yesterday, for some reason my MDAC III decided it was roaming. It was still on T-Mobile, but the roaming triangle indicator appeared in the top bar. If I let it auto-select the network, it always said T-Mobile, but if I tried to manually select T-Mobile, it couldn't connect. I called T-Mob, and they said it showed I was just connected to their system as normal. The phone still worked fine, except push e-mail wouldn't work, I had to force ActiveSync to sync manually. Anyway, a couple of soft-resets later, and everything went back to normal.
Checked my mobile first thing today, and the dreaded roadming triangle was back. Did a couple of soft resets, left phone off for 30 mins, but now it won't connect at all, I just get the exclamation mark next to the signal strength indicator. When I reboot, an error message appears but it clears so quickly I can't read it. I think it's about something not being able to start.
Help! Any ideas anyone???
I to have the roaming icon (I even admitt to looking up what the icon actually was in the manual when it first appeared on Friday).
I have not experianced any problems with connections though - Mike
I also have the icon. It appeared Friday. I am on t-mobile UK
Ah good, so it looks like it was a T-Mob network problem (even though customer service didn't seem to know anything about it)? Mine seems to be back OK now (roaming icon has disappeared and Exchange sync working again). One other thing I did notice this afternoon was that the time had "lost" over an hour somehow...
Spoke too soon, the triangle has returned.
After a bit of Googling, it looks like quite a few people have been having this problem over the last week or so. The fix seems to consist of getting a new SIM. The options are either return to T-Mob for a replacement SIM = no phone for 2-3 days, or buy a new SIM in T-Mob shop for £10 and get £10 account credit. Off the the T-M shop later to see if they've heard of this.
Went into T-Mob shop this afternoon. They hadn't heard of the issue, but when I talked them into trying one of their own SIMs in one of their own MDA phones (a Touch), they too got the roaming triangle, even though mine was actually behaving at the time.
They put my on the phone to T-Mob customer service, who as expected hadn't heard of this, but they transferred me to a guy in Tech Support who actually listened to what I was saying, and believed me rather than just patronise me as a dumb customer who didn't know what he was doing. I guess it helped that I put the guy in the shop on the line to also confirm what I was saying.
He's taking it up with one of the Product Managers within T-Mob, and is going to call me back...
I had the problem on both of my t-mobile phones. Swapped the sims at the local shop and all is fine again.
I had the problem too but the icon disappeared after I upgraded to a WM6 rom (BB4).
I hope I don't get billed for Roaming whilst in the UK
I've also re-flashed the ROM (3 times in fact) but even if it's OK straight away, the triangle always returns at some point. I can't understand how the new SIM thing can work, especially as when I was in the T-Mob shop yesterday they tried a new SIM on one of their HTC Touches and got a triangle straight away. I just wonder if it's not the new SIM that's making the difference, it's just turning to phone off to change it, and the triangle will eventually return.
Keep us updated on whether the problem comes back with your new SIM!
Oh, I had this triangle on Friday or Saturday, had no idea what it represented. So I soft re-setted and it went, and hasn't returned. At least I'll recognise it now.
I think i had a STK update the other day. since then the roaming triangle has appeared. if i do a soft reset it goes, but re-appears again after about an hour or so.
So is there anyone experiencing this issue that isn't a T-Mobile UK customer using an HTC (MDA) device?
Roaming Triangle
Hi all! I have the same proble as eveyone else. I own an HTC P3300 from T-mobile. I left on July for vacation and had my mobile switched on back home(Greece) but didnt operate it. At that time the triangle was always there. When i came back previous week and switched on my HTC for first time everything was fine. No triangle, no nothing. After an hour or so it appeared and from that time it is on my screen. I asked T-Mobile and they said that i am
operating with UK operator and not with an abroad one, so as an answer to a previous member who asked i will say that we wont get charged. However, i have no answer to the actual problem. If anyone does please share with us. Thanks a lot!!
The only way I could get rid of the roaming icon was to get my sim card replaced. EVEN a had reset did not fix it. It is a sim issue not a phone issue.
I've had this a few times over the last week or so, normally turning it off and back on again (in true IT fashion) gets rid of it. I can't see how it would be a sim problem though, I would think it would be a network issue

Hi guys
Hope this helps
I have just phoned T Mobile UK CS and reported this "Roaming Icon" problem on my XDA Mini S (Obviously never "Sim locked")
I was told that "Tech Support" are aware of it and the matter has been passed on to T Mobile in Germany.
Also tried with a:
Virgin Sim card
Another T Mobile PAYG Sim card
Orange Sim card
Voda sim card
It was noted in my account comments field and I was given a reference number for any possible future action.
PS
Also *****ed about the new PAYG Data rate.
The "Pound a Day" immediate charge rate means no more quick checking the email headers on my POP3 accounts
keep up the good work
Alan
I phoned TMob and got my sim replaced and the issued stopped immediately.
PS: Agree about the PAYG
Roaming icon tempory fix
i used the Wizard RegistryWizard to get rid of some minor bugs in the ROM...you will get numerous erros when launching it (I know this is a WIZARD app but it works), but just ignore them...on the program, theres an option to get rid of Roaming icon...go ahead and enable that...and reboot your device, and you should, be good to go with no Roaming triangle icon
But even if you turn the icon off the phone still thinks it is roaming and your emails will not auto-download because by default they do not on roaming networks to save data costs.
I know I can turn that option off but I go abroad 2 times and week and do not want to download emails when I am roaming for real.
My problem started the same sort of time as everyones elses. I've recently been sorting stuff out for moving to Germany and TMobile know i am so i thought originally they'd done something to spite me. I get the same Icon on both Wizards i have - one with WM6 on and one with the original untouched Tmobile software. I don't see how it can be sim tho if everyones doing this at the same time, surely it's something they've changed?

Hi
I replaced my P3300's screen a while ago because it was cracked. Everything seemed to go OK and the phone worked fine for a few days.
I don't know if this is related or not (maybe I messed the antenna up during the process, but since it worked for a while afterward I'd guess not...?)
Anyway, for the last couple of days I've had no network reception whatsoever.
The last time I remember it working was in the evening a few days ago. I fell asleep with the WIFI on and woke up with the phone dead. I turned it on and it didn't ask me for my PIN like it usually does, and it couldn't find my GSM network. It's been like that since.
When I press the green "dial" button nothing happens. When I go into settings > telephone, it asks me for my PIN and I can then access the options but it doesn't find any networks when I search.
Now every time I turn it off and back on, it never asks for my PIN.
I've tried removing the battery and the sim card but that hasn't helped.
Any ideas??
Thanks in advance
Meh. On a possibly maybe related note, I've just realised my PocketCM Contacts hangs when I try to launch it. Could it be a loose sim card connection causing both these problems? Although I'm pretty sure all my contacts are on the phone and not the sim card, and the sim looks fine and is placed properly...
edit - just been into programmes > sim manager (not sure that's what it is in english, my phone is french) and I get a "sim busy" error message (again, not sure if that's exactly what it is in english...). Hmmmmm
Well it gets even weirder... It seems I can receive and send text messages!
I've been getting texts from my operator saying I have new voice messages (which I obviously can't listen to) and I've also had texts from a friend and been able to reply to them and they've been received. Even though the icon at the top still has an exclamation mark so supposedly no network.
My iGo GPS also doesn't seem to work anymore (it hangs during initialisation process) although Tomtom works fine.
Someone please tell me they have an idea what could be going on! This is doing my head in
Dam, you have all my solidarity man!
Are you using radio 3.39.90 by chance? Even if not I would still flash another radio.I also suggest to check that your device was correctly reassembled if you have any doubt about it.
ISSUE RESOLVED
Hi guys, I don't actually own this phone but I'm asking this on behalf of a friend. I've searched everywhere, including google, and have not found an answer.
Recently my friend's phone underwent a weird change. According to him, he was in class one day and had absolutely no service because it was in a basement. When he left the class though, his phone stopped displaying the Verizon name, in both the status bar and everywhere you would normally see it. Instead, it now seems to say that his service provider is Vodafone NL, which according to my research is a Netherlands based phone provider.
We live in NYC though so that's a bit of a problem. He is able to make phone calls sometimes, but he is apparently unable to send or receive texts, and cannot access any data.
He's waiting a day or two to see if it fixes itself, but he intends to take it to Verizon to have them check it out eventually if there's nothing. Anyone have any idea what the problem might be?
His phone is completely stock btw, no mods or root or anything.
UPDATE: Nevermind, I managed to resolve it for him by having him switch to CDMA and then having him scan networks for Verizon again. That seemed to fix it. Still no idea what caused it to switch to Vodafone though...
Hi Guys,
My phone has developed a pretty cripling problem since updating to Mango. I waited for the official update from my carrier without any forced tricks.
Basically my data connection is randomly dropping out. My phone will still display G/E/3G/H or whatever but there is no network connectivity. Nothing works and if i try a web page i just get connection/dns errors.
The only way to solve this is a soft-reset. Even flight mode on-off doesn't always seem to work.
I thought it was a bug on my network since Orange and T-Mobile share and that it may have had a problem switching between but i've manually selected my home network (Orange) and it's still happening.
So basically i'm now in a position where i have to manually check my data connection is actually working and if not, soft reset my phone. I can't be doing this, it's ridiculous having to re-set my phone numerous times a day!
Like i say this problem has only arrisen since Mango. I've read on the net a few others with this issue but no fix.
Are any of you guys experiencing something similar? Or know what I could try?
Thanks :/
I had that issue with WiFi for a couple of days after updating but it fixed itself. You might want to ask Orange for a replacement device if it stays like that.
I'm experiencing the exact same issue with my HD7 since a couple of days now. But I assume it's a hardware failure. My device is causing all different kinds of trouble like rebooting randomly several times a day, refusing to launch apps and so on. I'm going to send it in for repair.

It's odd i didn't notice it for a week after updating but then when i was out and about it dropped. Then every day since it's done the same thing.
So frustrating, it doesn't appear to be a localised network issue as it happened when i travelled around 100 miles away too!
Might give orange a call then and see what they say. Just seems a bit of a co0incidence that it's only happened after the Mango update.
Been on the phone to orange - They've sent me some network settings message, tbh i can't see it doing anything but they said if it carries on they'll just replace the handset.
Bit annoying really since other than this it's flawless.
I have the same problem, just restored back to pre-mango. no point being on Mango if i can't consume any data.
Spoke to Orange couple of days ago and "they said not our problem, call Samsung".
a joke.

Has restoring back fixed the data problem?
My sister also has an Omnia 7 on Orange and she has the same problem. So that's at least 3 cases Orange have been made aware of, I can only assume there are more.
I don't see any point retunring my phone as i assume when i update the replacement to Mango the same problem will arise.
Also do you have insurance with Orange? I was offered a replacement as i have the Orange care thing.
For reference,
I started a thread on the MS Answers site and a few others on Orange UK are
having the same problem.
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/winphone/forum/wp7-wppics/data-connection-problem-since-mango-update/1544a63f-7bf0-43fa-837c-7e89f10b86ab?page=1&tm=1319027651966#footer
If anyone here is suffering could they add their details to the list and mark it as "im having this problem too" to bring it to the attention of MS please?
Thanks!
I have a simfree omnia7 with an o2 UK SIM in it and I also have data connection problems since the mango update. It must be the phone coz it works fine on my desire HD with the same sim in it. Mite be time to get myself a titan instead me thinks.
Sent from my OMNIA7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I just resolved this problem for my HTC Trophy!!!!
The cause seems to be that the APN settings where erased/blanked after the update to Mango.
I have a Vodafone branded HTC Trophy and my provider is T-mobile. After I supplied the APN settings from T-mobile, my data connection keeps on working!
Try it, maybe this helps!
APN settings can be edited through "Settings" - "Mobile Network (or Cellular)" - "edit apn" (scroll down!)
I have a similar problem on the Omnia7 with T-Mobile.
Sometimes my connection just drops, completely, no bars, no internet nothing. It'll come back after a few minutes though. I also have seen some similar problems to you with internet, displaying 3G+ but not actually loading anything.
I also seem to roam a lot now on T-Mobile Orange, even at home and when roaming I can't use the net at all.
Having said all this, I didn't force Mango but I was on the Developer Beta which (I think) means it just automatically upgraded to a generic Mango rom? I'm pretty sure T-Mobile have been slow with their updates, I've had mango since the first week release.
Hello! I don't know why but my phone started having this problem. It was out of nowhere. Well, maybe not, I've flashed my phone with the official mango update like two weeks ago, and it was working fine.
And today I saw that that I messages doesn't send out. I tried to call/text myself from other phone, and I couldn't. Phone displays gsm network name in phone hub, and also it shows full gsm connection bars(five of them), so you couldn't tell that something is wrong until you try to text or call. When you call the phone says "dialing..." but this shows forever and there's no sound from the speaker. It's worth mentioning that I've received few messages I've send to myself, but just about 2hours from sending, and then I tried to send a few more and haven't received those. Also, I've suceeded to call for a few times but after a long long wait(like at least 30sec) with the "dialing..." message shown. However, I cannot reach the phone when calling from my other phone.
I've tried to turn my phone on/off, to take the battery/sim card off, reseting the device, but none of these things helped. Then I've decided to flash my device. I've flashed my phone with DeepShining Mango custom ROM, and it seems to be working fine, but the problem still exists.
I don't know what else to do. And that's a major problem, because noone can call or text me. As I've said in the beginning, it was out of the sudden, I haven't done anything to my phone. Just yesterday I was using my phone normally, texted and called with no problem.
So I'm asking yours, guys, help. Could you please suggest what I could do? Thank you very much!
P.S. I've bought this phone from second hand and it was unlocked, but it has an orange logo on the battery cover, so I suppose it was locked to orange.
Did you pay your bill?
I have a prepaid card.
Ok, do you have a another SIM to test
Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Is there any way to get them to reactivate it?
I had an an XT1955-5 that was fully functional on the AT&T network, including voice over LTE. I bought this phone because XT1955-5 was on their list of approved phones. I even checked the sim status to verify that it didn't kick down to 3g/H+ when I made a call, and it had the HD symbol on the call screen.
Despite this, AT&T disabled it because they were shutting down the 3g network. I got them to reactivate it and it worked again for several months. Then, when they sent me the cheap replacement phone and sim card, they deactivated my old phone and I couldn't get it to work again. I tried calling them and talking to their technical support to explain the situation that VoLTE was fully functional on it. They didn't seem to know much other than "the computer says this phone isn't compatible." They said they would try changing my provisions, but they ended up making it much worse so mobile data wouldn't even work anymore.
Do they just go by an IMEI whitelist that can't be overridden? My best guess is that they seem to be shutting down all phones that weren't AT&T branded, so this one gets the axe because it was unlocked from another carrier. This is very disappointing because I really liked this phone for a combination of several factors that I can't seem to find in any others.
Unless I'm misreading the list, this is a whitelisted device on the AT&T network.
Correct, the model number is on their whitelist. That's why I chose this phone and why it's so frustrating that it was deactivated. I guess there's a subset of whitelisted IMEIs within that list, but isn't published. This particular one must not have been on their whitelisted IMEI list because it was unlocked from a nother carrier. Do you know if there's any way to get ATT to add it of am I SOL?
They say nothing about IMEI number limitations.
As long as it's not blacklisted there shouldn't be an issue. This list was just revised so your phone may not have been previously whitelisted.
There's quit a bit of confusion is what I gathered.
Some of the AT&T features like vid calling won't work without the AT&T software maybe firmware. Guess we'll both find out on the 22nd.
Call AT&T advance tech support as this is the game that moves as you play it.
I have a development:
I flashed back to stock/RetUS ROM from LineageOS 18.1 to try to fix wifi calling on T-Mobile since I was trying to switch to them due to this hassle. While I was at it, I read a post on a forum for another phone, where the person said they reflashed stock to reprovision the sim. I figured it's worth a try, so I popped in my AT&T sim card while on stock ROM and to my surprise, it fixed it. The LTE network is fully functional, at least for now. I didn't think Lineage did anything to change the radio firmware or whatever it is that controls how it interacts with the cell carrier. I guess I was wrong.
Now, I wonder if I'm stuck with the stock ROM because AT&T will detect a change and shut it down, or if I can get away with switching back to Lineage. I'll try it soon.

AT&T isn't witch hunting. As long as it's firmware is compatible with their protocols it will work.
I have no clue what those protocols are though.
(deleted, mistook carrier)
I've pretty much lost hope at this point but I might as well share some more of this madness I'm experiencing. Maybe you'll even get some amusement out of my struggles.
VoLTE continued to work with the stock ROM. I flashed LineageOS again last night and was pleased to see VoLTE still worked. It went fine all day until someone in person mentioned to me that they texted me yesterday but I didn't respond. I never received the text, and I tried sending them one and they had not received that either. Since I was on the stock ROM when that text had been sent, I figure it was something still incorrectly configured with the carrier. I tried messages to several other people. They would all say "sent" but only a couple actually made it to the recipient, and likewise I could not receive messages from most people.
When I got home, I switched the sims around in a couple of phones to narrow down whether it was my phone or my sim that was causing the issue. It turned out to be the sim, as evidenced by successful messaging with a different sim in my phone but not my sim in a different phone. I happened to have the SIM in the AT&T Callypso when I called ATT customer support to see if they could fix the problem. Ultimately they did. VoLTE worked. Messaging worked.
I switched the SIM back to the G7 (currently running LineageOS 18.1). I made a quick call to confirm VoLTE still worked. It did. Great success! Then right after that I got the dreaded message saying they're updating the network and the phone I was trying to activate will not work. Now, it drops from LTE to H+ any time I have an incoming/outgoing call again, and mobile data doesn't even work now. At least messaging works now.
To make things worse, now it isn't even automatically reprovisioning when I put the sim in a new phone so I can't automatically get those privileges back like I did before. To make it double-worse, the sim for my spare line got the same screwed up status from being inserted into the G7 that it now has the same troubles.
Blackhawk, I agree that they probably aren't witch hunting or intentionally making this difficult, but obviously its network is changing my privileges when I put the SIM card in this phone. It seems to be that switching a sim to a new phone sends that phone info to the carrier, and if they have it on their list they automatically adjust the types of services available to that line to fit the phone. I suspect that info it sends also includes some software info, considering how it worked as intended when I had the stock software but not with Lineage which it probably did not recognize. My best guess is that I got away with flashing Lineage yesterday because my line was already configured correctly from when I had the stock rom, and since the SIM didn't change with the Lineage flash, it kept that same configuration. Moving it to another phone and back made it see the G7 as a new phone again, and it sent the info but the software wasn't recognized so I didn't get the good privileges.
ffdm, unfortunately you seem to be correct about just getting the runaround if your issue isn't common. The tech support people don't seem interested in anything other than their pre-scripted instructions, and it doesn't help that the support has clearly been outsourced to another country so they are hard to understand.
I have one last hope which is to put the SIM into the G7 totally stock, call customer support and have them reset the provisions for this line, then flash Lineage again and hope it never triggers the automatic provisioning ever again.
I just want a phone with a long battery life and AOSP not bloated with spyware that sends all my information to third parties that profile me. It shouldn't be this hard.

If these apply to you try:
Clear system cache
Clear Sim Toolkit data
Reset network setting
Get a new sim card from AT&T, handle like a stick of ram as they can be damaged by ESD.
From what is described, it does sound like a provisioning issue, and calling to get it fixed would probably be the correct solution. But why is it flagged as incompatible? Why would that status be persistent for that line? It's weird.
FWIW, AT&T kicked me off for switching from a OnePlus 6 (not a 5g phone) to a OnePlus N10 (5G phone). They were nice enough to disable my account on a Friday night when I switched sims, and was without cell service all weekend since they apparently don't want to do customer service outside banker's hours. Couldn't use the old one either (on 4G), I was completely blacklisted.
T-Mobile happily accepted my porting on Monday .
I'll save my unkind thoughts past "maybe consider firing them" as I don't want to sound like a loonie.
Man, I wish I could switch. I actually tried switching to a T-Mobile MVNO. They provisioned my SIM correctly, but unfortunately their coverage was insufficient in my rural area. I considered sticking with them and using wifi calling at home if that would work, but that feature was broken on lineage and I thought I got this to work correctly with AT&T.
I did get it working by flashing stock again, calling ATT to have them correctly provision it, then flashing LineageOS again. It has been working properly for about a week so with any luck I'll get to continue using the phone.
The 22nd came and went. I'm noticing some vids pause occasionally. May be just a random glitch otherwise no change. I may eventually try a network reset and have AT&T do it on their end.
Long live 4G LTE
