Hi there!
Is there any software that allows you to camouflage your voice dissimulating a male for a female for instance as it does for PC? Google is not answering to my question...I hope that inside here somebody does...
Why do you want to sound like a girl? Sounds a little perverse to me...

a bit of metabot crawling would have brought it to you too...
never used, never will have a purpose for it , but feel free to have go at it, alternatively you could search for text to speech as this will be more difficult to unmask, I take it these proggies use specific algorythms that can be unscrambled.

Both of those are PC based, so how would that help someone posting in the Hermes forum?
Haha -- I hope something like this does exist. My dad just installed a Sound Blaster X-FI that does this so he made himself sound like an ominous presence in Counter-Strike. It'd be a fun little proggie to have on the phone for messing with friends, for sure!

Ominous eh? Could he do the "ghost" voice like in Poltergeist through the TV?
it was good soft for Symbian OS, and I used it for a while, but till now I did not find any for WM Pocket/smart phone yet.
I doubt you will find it for the same reason PPC Phones can't record calls-
No access the the GSM Voice Stream!
Vito Audio notes records phone calls and its really good at it also so the above statement is false! both out going and incoming also there are a few apps that do this...

I guess "PPC" refers to "pocket pc devices" where as "WM5" or "WM6" devices are now called just that.
Although the OS is essentially the same stuff and the hardware the same kind of architecture, we use "PPC" to describe WM2003SE or below and "WMx" to describe the later devices.
Im just guessing. Therefore PPC devices WOULDNT support GSM stream, but WMx would. Just perception of the acronyms and their differences in real terms i guess.
I hadnt even thought or realised WHEN we decided to seperate "windows mobile devices" and "pocket pcs" out of what each are technically both!
or something.
has anyone used a good freeware "text to speech" app? looks like there's a lot of them to pay for...
Text to speech
Not sure it's exactly what you want, but I've been using this site to convert text to speech for a year or so:
http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php
Works well to make notifications for SMS, etc. Just click Play, then save the file in Storage Card/My Documents. Sorted!
thanks Stu, thats it...very coool!

Actually I believe they are referring to the difference between PPCs and Smartphones, not specifically regarding OS systems (though they use slightely different operating systems: PPC=WM6 Professional, Smartphone=WM6 Standard). One of the limitations of PPCs is the inaccessibility of the GSM voice stream, a problem that Windows Mobile Smartphones do not have.
I would like some freeware as well

FAQ
What is it?
"I Am Rich HD" is an imitation of the useless "I Am Rich" iPhone app that was around some time ago and by association is completely useless as well.
But whats the point then?
Well... there isn't one. Its just my venture into the world of WinMo development. And its pretty.
(On that note, could someone recommend some websites/tutorials/ebooks on the specific topic of using VS2008 for developing WinMo apps. Thanks.)
How do I use it?
Theres 2 buttons.
- Info Button -> shows you the matra. (recite it at least 3 times a day to make sure you have your wealth forever)
- the X button -> closes the app
To go to the main screen from the mantra hit the back button on the HD.
For the about dialog tap the mantra.
But there already is an "I Am Rich" Windows Mobile app.
Thats not a question. But anyway the other app that is out there did not display properly on my HD. I believe it was developed for the Diamond.
Something isnt working.
Again not a question but honestly I have no idea. I thing you need to have .NET Framework 3.5 for the app to work properly.
How do I install it?
Just copy the exe anywhere in your device and run it.
Can I help? / Can I have the resources?
Sure. If you are interested in doing some pointless fun programming PM me and I will send you all the graphics. I would like to include some further changes to the program, unfortunately my VS2008 programming skills are pretty limited. PM me if you can lend a hand and/or answer a few specific questions.
Thanks for giving it a try. Any feedback is appreciated (and I mean any).

Still not sure though ... but quite interesting.
If that is true, WP7 better to have it as well!
It's already been hinted that WP7S has multitasking. When you click back on the phone it's goes back to the last application or menu you were using.
Let's say you open Pictures, then you Open the Web Browser. If you click the back button then it will go back to pictures.
Yes, I know that, WP7 will have some sort of multitasking capability.
I just want to post news from other platform competitor (iPhone) so we can see that they are working on something ...
This year would be interesting on mobile world (WP7, iPhone 4, iPad?, HP Slate?).

Speaking of Tables, did you know that LG is supposedly making a WP7S tablet. I don't really care about that, but there are leaked videos of MS Courier which is the hottest thing I've ever seen. Also MS has some touch based OS called MS Locus. It's seens to be Webos, Android, and Iphone OS combined. Here's a pic

Please explain to me what multitasking is. It's a mobile device, what are you expecting multiple windows like you for A Full Blown Desktop OS? You can only view one app at a time. What kind of multitasking do you want? When you switch to another app, the app you were previously using pauses. If it was a IM, Web Browsing, Email or any other web based App it will continue to send information. It's the same if not similar multitasking that you see in Android.
Multitasking means that applications are actually running in the background.
On WP7S, they just save their sate and close or pause. That means they're not running = no multitasking.
(I might be wrong and maybe they are actually running, but everything currently hints that this is not the case and there's indeed no multitasking).
On Android, applications keep running. They just save their sate in case something goes wrong and they have to be closed (e.g. if the device runs out of RAM).
Yes, but is that a big difference? What does keeping an App open in the background benefit your anyway as long as it's readily available? It's not like that app is completely closes, it's just pauses to reduce it's footprint. When you go back it's immdiately available without any loading. Not like you see on the other fruity platform.
multi-tasking might not be really important from a normal user view---> i might be wrong....
however on a enterprise point of view, it is important. running ipblue at the background waiting for call or using office communicator at the background while checking out the email.
This has been discussed ad nauseum already. In many cases you need the application to actually run in background. MS and Apple do it for their own apps such as the music player. The whole question is whether we'll be able to use third-party apps that need it as well.

who gives a **** about the iphone ??? if uve handled a snapdragon phone , and after u get an iphone in ur hand , ur wipe ur ass with it and its ugly low res screen

WP7 will be king
Iam very confident in windows phone7 and its ability to handle Xbox games and tasks. So confident that for WVGA devices like touchpro2 I made a demo of what it would be like and I put it here.
My best guess is that WP7 still uses windows CE as its code base and inherits multitasking support. Seems like multitasking is not a big deal though as WP7 moves away from the multiple application concept.
Although we have heard rumors that WP7S will have preemptive multitasking, if you think about it, the live tiles really defeat the purpose of multitasking.
Say you have a (multi-platform) twitter app.
In Android, you can leave this open and come back to it anytime and it will be up-to-date, but you don't receive any notification.
When using live tiles in WP7S, you can run your twitter app and then switch over to another app, and, although your twitter app will close, while your doing other things your app's live tile can be checking for updates periodically and even display the most recent tweet directed towards you on the homesreen. That way, when you go back to the homesreen, you can see that there's a new tweet, and launch the now-updated app.
does anybody knows something about that?
there was on wm6, there is on wm6.5... maybe it will be finally usable on wp7 where hw is more software compliant? may we finally use it, and all other voip sw beeing able to choose wich speaker use? or having the ability to make voip call from contact list simply choosing "make a voipcall" like we make with video call or having a dedicated button in dialpad? why is it so difficult having these simple functions?
Doubt it. Most phones dont because the carriers dont like it. They want all calls/texts to go through them so they make more money!
Its all about money and VOIP isn't good for the manufacture or carriers.
There will be no Voip on the phone to begin with. They are allowed as apps but they won't beable to run in the background with the first release.

Actually, no, they aren't allowed. That is, there's no policy that says no VoIP, but there's no socket support for third parties, so you just can't make a VoIP application.

That doesn't change the fact that the vast majority of carriers today explicitly forbid you from using VoIP and P2P. They are even starting to leverage control of this by limiting your speed to GPRS bandwidth if they see any type of unwanted traffic going thru your handset.
It's not in the best interests of carriers to allow you to use their network, with a flat-rate dataplan, for VoIP as that means they make no money on your calls. I'm betting we will see a similar policy on SMS/MMS in the future as this is definitely their biggest cashcow.

You're saying that you think carriers are going to forbid you to use SMS over the data connection (like Google Voice)? I think not. That's a major selling point of Android currently. They can't be all in with Android and forbid use of Google Voice.
I’m not sure that Voxofon for WP7 is really what I am looking for. The product description in the app marketplace states the following:
- No WiFi required
- Will use plan minutes
- Not suitable for use while traveling and roaming
Wikipedia states the following:
Voxofon has also released an application for Microsoft's Windows Phone 7, however it uses the phone's voice channel, and not VoIP.
It seems like the iPhone and Android users get a supported Skype application. I need some sort of VOiP app that I can use to make calls while connected to WiFi while traveling internationally.
So my question remains, is there, or will there be soon, such an app for us WP7 types?
Thanks,
Dave

There isn't now. I think MS doesn't provide the necessary APIs. Also, there is no multitasking, which eliminates a host of applications and prevents effective VOIP software. Multitasking will come late this year. The necessary APIs for independent VOIP apps like Skype, I'd guess around the same time but it's just a guess, on the basis that VOIP/IM apps are well-known and important to consumers.
Proper integrated (SIP) VOIP? Who knows?
Android has a big lead here, with both integrated SIP and independent support.
Well,
I don’t like the information, but appreciate it nonetheless. As a world-traveler, I need this ability – badly – but for now I think I like this OS well enough to put up with this shortcoming for a spell.
Thanks for your response!
Dave
The VOIP limitation is really based on a lack of socket support. That's going to change with mango if not earlier. There's a rumor that at MIX they'll announce socket support but it's known to be on the short list in any case. This is something MS has been working on. In fact VOIP already has registry entries in current WP7 builds: http://mobilitydigest.com/visual-voicemail-and-voip-for-wp7-confirmed-via-homebrew-registry-viewer/
it could be installed on windowsmobile to Desire?

I think you should have this thread moved to Themes and Apps and search for replacements for WinMo, because I don't see a port happening in the near future.
On the other hand, I agree that android -even if it's quite modern and overall better than WinMo 6.5.3- is very immature in many ways and lacks some polished apps:
- email client
- exchange
- contact managing
- extensive weather application such as weatherpanel
- a good imdb client
- a reliable bt/wifi remote - most don't work on bt and even gmote has lots of problems on some platforms
- some other work related applications

well, I haven't said that, my point is that being winmo a lot older than android, you miss some applications which where developed over a long time and which probably will come to android, but aren't still there. The Imdb example is just to point out that even if you have 50000 apps there are some which are missing (and Imdb doesn't want official applications).
In fact if you read my post I have stressed that you should move this to themes and apps because there are some applications which are missing, not because the OS isn't good.
At the same time the email client, contact management (picture syncing issues etc) all point to the fact that android is midway between business/consumer and that it's still a bit in the working, which is completely normal.
But this is going offtopic. I just think that there is probably no way that WinMo (6 ? 7 ?) will be ported to a similar android device. And I'm of the opinion that you should just try to replace what you miss with some of the apps you find in the market.
You can keep Windows mobile away from my desire!

Did you convert to some another format with lower quality as well right? The 4 i've players used so far either don't recognize or will play with stuttering, ones i've used so far wouldn't even play my standard entourage rips, which aren't very high quality as is.

Did you convert to some another format with lower quality as well right? The 4 i've players used so far either don't recognize or will play with stuttering, ones i've used so far wouldn't even play my standard entourage rips, which aren't very high quality as is.

Pretty much anything but the stock player is quite poor at the moment. If someone could extract the Samsung one that would be brilliant.

There's nothing generally wrong with any of the 3rd party players so long as they stick to natively supported codecs. In the case of video, this is really just H264 (see here).
I rather suspect that the DivX support in Samsung and LG phones rely on an actual native application and/or libraries rather than an interpreted java application.

i have a HD2 just ordered a desire today best of both worlds
Ok, first off, no silly replies please. You can laugh but don't talk like a dumbass.
So here goes.... *deep breath*.......
Is there an alternative to Android (Google) that i can run on my HTC one x. I'm boycotting Google for the way they have handled the offensive video as of late on youtube.
To be frank, google dominates my life, contacts, gmail, photo's, chrome but i now want to boycott them. I know it'll be hard but i can try....
So, alternative OS to google which my one x can run?? Or do i need to buy an iphone
Mods, feel free to move this as appropriate.
What are you talking about......
And no is the answer
lol
somehow i'm not sure they will notice
anyways its your life, your choice..
windows phone, iphone, and blackberry, samsung bada, i think there's more, but none really are quite the same as android, imo you will be taking a big step backwards if you do choose to not use it.
only problem, is that your not really gonna be successful in finding one of those os's for the one x. somebody would have to make it, the same way as a custom rom, and the processor architecture could be different, and not supported by os etc etc, its a big mess and very very unlikely to ever happen - the old windows mobile phones got android, purely because winmo was complete crap, and android would have been considered an upgrade, the other os's; they would be considered by most as a downgrade, hence not bothering to do it
I'm guessing the OP is on about this video which Muslims are finding offensive
But to answer your question, no. You can't run anything other than Android on the One X at this time
CyanogenMod uses all the open source code from Android and makes the Google apps installation optional. If you boycott Google and don't want to know from them, you can use it if it's available on your 1X. The browser allows you to choose your search provided, right?
my apologies.. just could not resist
There is no non-Android OS for the HOX. You could however remove most if not all Google services from your phone. Root, and then install an AOKP or CM ROM, don't install the GApps. It might be useful to use Droidwall to block connections to specific Google servers as well. There will still be some things to do like making sure location services stay off, and you'll face some challenges, but you could cut the cord.
You'd need to sideload apps (no Play Store). Use something like Funambol for calendar/contacts/mail. Use Opera or Firefox browser and set default search engines to not be Google.
I can't decide if this would end up really sucky or really just the same!
Just go buy another phone. U cant please everybody in the world so boycotting google just because of this video is childish. They have offensive material to me posted on YouTube like videos glorifying the IRA but I won't boycott them because of it. So I suggest u either buy a new phone or quit ur b##chin

it's still running Google Android though?
Thanks guys, what a tremoundous and positive response! :fingers-crossed:
looks like CM to me.... even though they utilize majority of android.
But wasn't android made possible by Linux??
@ Goku - really dissapointed man. You're like one of the flag ship xda members. Meh
Boycott Google?
Good luck with that, what your after is an iphone - but guess what, all videos will still be on YouTube (aka gootube )
Anyway, what's the big fuss - I liked the video, reminded me of Harry Potter because of the old wizard.
