Cheers

Uses Nokia battery's Great when you have an old phone lying around Has good stanby and in-use time.
- edit:
All went very smooth, no hickups no failures. Works like it was intended Once paired, just turn on bluetooth on Touch, and turn reciever on. The rest is automatic Software such as TomTom automaticaly turn on bluetooth when a non-default reciever is configured. Just start TomTom and turn reviever on.
Used this reciever for about 2,5 years now. Never let me down.

I use one Globalsat BT-338 with the HTC Touch nicely. Just pair it once and BINGO...
By the way I use Destinator 6.11 with Brazilian maps and GoogleMaps Mobile connected to the GPS.

i use the original tomtom GPS2 receiver with tomtom navigator 6.030..
it works well, but the GPS Receiver needs a little while until he get the positions
I'm using a Globalsat BT-359 with iGO 2006.
Works fine, Position fix in about 1 minute (and sometime less). Bluetooth link easy to setup.
Useing Holux GR236 with TomTom 6 works fine and after connecting the GPS once TomTom automatically enables Bluetooth on startup!
i use the NOKIA LD-3W ...works smoothly...
i suppose every BT GPS Receiver works with the Touch... when u buy one, maybe pay attention that it has a SIRF III Chip
I use a Q-Starz BT-Q810 with TomTom6. works fine and doesn't have a SIRF III chip (uses MTK instead)
What are you guys using to secure the touch to your car? I haven't found anything elf-specific.
Brodit Proclip and Holder!!
gps
i use the Qtrek blue gps s3 , 20 channels, it works with all navigation software on the touch, it costs about 65 euro`s here in holland.
TomTom Western Europe on my touch with Holux GPSlim (GR-236) SiRFStarIII Bluetooth Receiver
now to get it ( the GPSlim ) to work with Google maps.
hi guys,
i bought my touch 3 weeks ago and i'm VERY interested in using it as a nav. with tomtom6 western europe.
i've got 2 questions coming up:
1: which bluetooth receiver can you recommend me (at a reasonable price)?!
2: i was wondering if you guys manage it with your storage card (because i'm one of those who are trying to download the maps (and everything else)
my point is, unfortunatly i've got 2 storage cards (each 1gb), one i'm using for daily life, the other card i would use for tomtom6!
is it possible to install tt6 on my storage card where the maps are located?!
thanks for helping me...
Andi
I used TT6 with GPS device AD750 from Adept on my wizard for +/1 one year, and since +/- 2 weeks with the ELF now, it works flawless.

Yes, but when you install TT6 and choose the storage card as install location, it still installs TT6 on the phone memory.
However, if i manually transfer the "navigator" folder from the "program files" folder (phone memory) to the "program files" folder (storage card) it still runs perfectly (you do have to create a new shortcut in the "\windows\start menu" of course).
This video is very good when you need to make the GPS and the Touch "Talk together"

SIRF chip can receive more channels than the Nemerix chip but power consumption is higher, ie you will need the recharge more often

I run TT6 from 1GB storage card with no problems. Just copy the map folders to the root directory of the storage card.
My girl uses a Adapt A800 Sirfstar III with TomTom.

Here is what i did:
On your PDA
1. Go to BT settings on your device and make it discoverable.
2. Go to COM Ports Tab and create a new incoming port (mine is COM6)
In GPS2Blue
3. set your GPS to 4 (this is your internal GPS port ..see under Start --> Settings-->GPS)
4. enable BT on and set it to the COM you created in step 2.
5. Press Button ON
On your PC
6. Open your Bluetooth settings... i used Microsoft not Widcomm
7. Add a new Device
8. Choose your PDA
9. When this is done click properties on your device and go to the TAB services.
10. Now it will find a serial Port (SPP) 'Serial Port' COM 8 (in my case) enable it and press OK.
11. Now go to the TAB Com Ports and press button ADD. Choose your device and choose the Serial port.
Now you have connected COM port 8 on your PC to COM Port 6 on your device. The only thing you will have to do is choose COM Port 8 as your GPS port in your application.
Using the Orbit as a BT GPS reciever for Laptop
Hiya!
I was wondering the exact same thing last night and here is a topic covering it !! excellent !
I'm now going to be selling off my Xda Exec with Original TomTom bluetooth GPS reciever and putting the proceeds of that towards an Xda Orbit and I can still connect it to my laptop !
What is the GPS2Blue application for on the PDA? is it absolutley necessary to have in order to be able to use with a laptop? (I have a Dell with a built in Bluetooth module) I use Microsoft AutoRoute 2006 on my laptop sometimes,
Once I get the Orbit, I can recheck this thread and have a go at getting it connected
Cheers guys!

Making your pda look like a BT GPS receiver is what GPS2BLUE is designed for.

Normally the GPS receiver only wakes up if an application accesses the COM port so you cant just flick the GPS on without a 3rd party program. Maybe a low level way, but still needs some effort to do it.

Hi,
Have tried to set this up but cant get it to work.
I have installed GPS2Blue and have set it up exactly as it says in your instructions, but everytime i press the "on" button it gets as far as saying "Bluetooh Port not connected, waitin" how long should i "wait" for it to connect??
Anyone kno why this is not working??
Also does anyone know how to set up the "PC" side of it on a Mac??
Regards
Chaz
woooo, lol. i got it sorted, well sort of newayz. The problem was my mac, for some reason it doesn't seam to be calling the gps on the port i set up. stupid thing, but tried it on windows, and it works perfectly now.
But still the million dollar question, can anybody get it working on Mac for me??
GPSgate is able to do the same.
redirects the vcom4 to com6 (BT outgoing) and its redy to comunicate with BT on PC...
Other oportunity is to use Portsplit & GPSproxy. The same function.
In other words - nothinq new under the sun...
Using 3300/artemis as GPS receiver for a laptop
Hi,
I now have my Orbit and it's running TomTom 6 nicely using a 1GB Sandisk 'normal' speed micro SD card.
Now if I install GPS blue and use the instructions given earlier in this thread, could I for instance be on a journey and have TomTom 6 running using the internal GPS reciever AND have the Bluetooth connection to my Laptop providing the GPS signal and it being used on Microsoft AutoRoute 2006 at the 'same time'? - or would they have to be exclusive to each other?
I'm also guessing that the 3300/artemis will be able to connect say to a XDA2s machine to 'act' as the BT GPS reciever for TT5 on that PDA right?!

Hi.
Is there any one who has the Spectec SGD 810 SDIO GPS ? I got mine from the ebay, but it is not working on my iPAQ hx2795,
I see that the green LED blinking for some time and it lit stable after 30 seconds, so I think GPS is able to fix the poistion,
but when I use the holux GPS viewer to scan all the ports, it says "Port failed to open / Could not found", When I tried with GPSTweak I see there is a port available with the name "COM4: Spectec GDS driver". I selected this port manually and tried with 9600 baud rate. When I click on connect I see the following on screen
"
NMEA: Entering decoding thread
NMEA: No leading $
NMEA: No leading $
....
"
I see that hx2790 is supported by the GPS, so I thought it would also work for the hx2795,
I am using WM 5.0 official HP release, I tried different drivers listed on their website with no luck , their web site is crap and I don't find any thing usefull
Please help me if any one has a working module already
and oh I am in India
Its Working !!!
After having a couple of communication with the Guy called Henry who works for Spectec CS support, we got figured out the problem, the problem is Baud Rate
After I changed the baud rate to 38400, viola it is working, even in WM6,
great help from the Spectec customer Support
what driver you use??? i try with wm6.1 but not working....
I have recently just bought a Spectec 810 SD, and have been trying to set it up for use with my x50v running WM6...
I have also got a BT338 and that works perfectly and even picks up instantly indoors, where as the SD 810 I did actually manage to work around to make it work, never finds any satelites until you stand ever so still outside for around 5 minutes...
Here is how I made this SD810 kinda work...
Go to the External GPS in settings and turn off hardware, software and un check the managed button...
Then set up your GPS software packages to search on port 4, baud rate 38400...
But then again its still can't seem to find those satellites quick enough...
Probably sell it unless someone has a magic wand to make it work better !!!
thx for answer
my problem is with port...

maybe WM6.1 is problem...
Sounds good to me, thinking of driving our old camper van to Croatia one day...looks a beautiful country...sorry can't help any further
not help but offer for drink stand
i am try to downgrade to WM5
Work with WM5!!!! problem is in first setup... when run GPS Viewer now ask pin code for BT!!!! after entering 000000 GPS working on port COM8!!! device use active BT connection and if this not paired, not working
now i try to upgrade again to WM6.1 and try install from clean system
Yes working with WM6.1!!! Problem first time is only with BT settings... with clean system now setup work fine
Can I ask why the Bluetooth effects the SD GPS ?
why do you need to enter a pin code ?
device use BT for connection (not SD port)
Instructions:
I have this receiver and too much trouble if you don't know how to setup device...
I used this with HP hx2790 with WM5.0 and WM6.1.
Navigation software: iGO 2006 Plus
Also, you MUST have device (PPC) with Bluetooth (BT)... without this GPS not working!!!
SD connection is only for power!!!

2. Connect device (PPC) with ActiveSync to PC and install driver (Spectec-GPS.exe) and software GpsViewer.exe
3. Go to Settings - System - External GPS and disable (uncheck) all options (Programs, Hardware and Access)
4. Reboot device
5. Enable BT on device and connect GPS receiver to SD port
6. Start GPS Viewer software. For Baudrate select 38400 and select Scan...
7. When GPS receiver found, device automatic starts BT manager for device pairing... enter 000000 for pin code
8. Look again GPS Viewer software... if all OK you see what COM port GPS receiver use (look picture). Remember this COM port (in this example COM 8)
9. Now you can close GPS Viewer software. Reboot device.
10.Start your Navigation software (iGO 2006 Plus for example) and setup GPS connection (Port COM 8, Baud rate 38400)
Sorry dxdy
I have just followed your guide exactly...
When I do a scan in GPS viewer it finds my GPS SDG-810 on com 4, then I open the GPS, it doesn't open my BT connection, and even when I go to the BT manager it doesn't find anything.
But in GPS viewer it has a load of red sats but never fixes...
Tried exactly the same thing with my BT388 GPS and the world view shows 7 green satelites even in doors...
try in BT mannager to manual search for new BT device
Its working without BT on, and with BT on....yet whatever settings...I have just been out in car, drove for 30 mins after 20 minutes the GPS viewer actually got a fix on 3 satelites. Then I arrived at my destination, turned off the device...after 15mins I turned it all back on again...started to drive home, after 25 mins it eventually found 4 satellites...
In my mind what is the point of this SD GPS, its rubbish...
Sorry if this has been asked before but could not find anything in the forums.
I have a Vodafone TP2 and even though the bluetooth connects and stays connected to my car bluetooth or the Vodafone free headset that came with the phone, I get no sound through bluetooth during calls. The BT initiates cals fine but if I connect a call in or out I have to disconnect the BT and use the phone.
Any ideas? I have hard reset twice now and it seems to work once then not again.
youre no the only one, ive had the same problem with the vodafone model. Help would be awesome, please...
According to Vodafone my warranty would be voided if I put the stock HTC rom on my TP2, but if it fixes the radio and gets rid of the colour scheme I would do it, but I seem to remember reading somwhere that the phone would be bricked if the HTC rom upgrade was attempted? I can't see why that would be, any input appreciated!
Apparently this is a known problem.
HTC have already posted an upgrade to their site but as yet Vodafone have not done the same although they will upgrade the software through their own repair service.
Don't hold you breath for the VF fix.
I spent ages on the phone to Vodafone last night and they are swapping the phone out tomorrow, I'll update with the (lack of) bluetooth news...
I ended up with a refurbished fone when i sent my tp1 to vodafone for a firmware upgrade
Luckily mine is under a week old so I get a direct replacement...
Hopefully!
I do have a bluetooth problem as well... When connected to my car bluetooth, It will drop an incoming call immediately it registers... but i can make a call through the bluetooth fine!
Hopefuly this can be fixed!

That wasn't the issue, I had already tried that theory. Still, new phone arriving today...
ok, new phone, same issue. excpet it does work on my BT headset but not my car.
So...
Can anyone tell me definitively, am I able to flash my Vodafone TP2 with the new HTC rom from their website, and am I able to backup up the existing rom at all?

I'd like to know the answer to this too, but it seems our Voda TP2s are few and far between in the xda-dev world!!
So I have HardSPL'd my device and wanted to put the HTC rom on, but I can't download it from HTC due to my serial number!
I'm sure the ROM has been posted on here somewhere, if not there is a thread somewhere with valid EUR serial numvers that you can use
Ah yes, I found the ROM and flashed happily away!
I am now running the HTC ROM and although I have not yet connected to my car bluetooth, I am 100% happier with the interface!
I'm not much for screenshots, but here is one of my sync centre showing the "old" Vodafone partnership and the new one:

And a couple of my phone screen:
I wonder if this is what is causing my problems. I have a vodafone TP2 - I bought it about a month ago. It works absolutely fine with a Jabra BT500 headset.
However, I have a handsfree car kit that is part of an Alpine stereo in the car. Basically it's a Parrot unit that is incorporated into the firmware of the stereo. It works fine for making outgoing calls and connects ok, but as soon as I receive an incoming call it gets immediately cut off and diverted to my answering service.
Apparently Alpine are releasing new firmware for the stereo next month that can be flashed onto the unit so I may see if that fixes it. Otherwise I'm not sure what to do!
and if it does not, would you re-flash to get a working one?
It "sort of" works. It will pass the announcement of an incoming call, but it still won't pass the ringtone to the bluetooth headset

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=96695
60 people responding at ppcgeeks and still tracking at 75% with bugs. Are there fewer people in xda on the TP2?
Would be good if, as we report the problems to HTC and carriers, that we include a link to this thread for impact.
Looks Flashy but performs worse
Audio and CallierID / Name Translation / Phonebooks all not supported. 3rd Party extensions are limited. I basically think it sucks compared to the MS Stack in my previous phone.
I've had nothing but problems with bluetooth. File transfers over bluetooth often don't work. The biggest problem is that my hands-free phone kit, which is part of my Alpine car stereo, doesn't play nicely at all with TP2. As soon as anyone rings it instantly hangs up the call, so it's completely unusable. Worked flawlessly with my Kaiser.
I hate it. It keeps dropping the data rate on my bluetooth headphones. It drops it slow it that is sounds like **** and the sound coming from it actually causes me headaches! Never had this problem on my FUZE. Does the Touch Pro 2 has worse bluetooth distance than the Touch Pro? From my experience it does, but it could be this crappy bluetooth stack dropping the data rates too soon. Is it possible to switch to the MS stack?
I only use it for music and the occasional file transfer. For that it seems to work without a hitch for me. On the original SEA WWE ROM it worked great. With the new 6.5 it suffered from some interference but I recently installed the TD2 Tools and upped the bitpool and now the sound is better and no drops so far (have had the changes less than a day but still).
But I have read about the problems with bluetooth keyboards and I want one so I'll have to investigate carefully before making any purchases.
I find that the Bluetooth on the TP2 is far less reliable than any other phone I've ever used. I have random disconnections and other odd behavior.
Bluetooth is crap on Tilt 2
Still at odds with flashing my unlocked Tilt 2. Everything works great from stock ROM. I even get a great data and signal connection with zero bars showing in my house where I have never been able to get good signal and calls were constantly dropped with my Kaiser. The problem I have is with the bluetooth. Its very buggy and tends to disconnect and give crap signal to where nobody can understand me when I am using my Blue Ant hands free. I am wondering if I flash a new rom or new radio could I get bluetooth improvement. I need the bluetooth. Its half the phone to me.
Help!
I have not been having problems until recently. The bluetooth hands-free and A2DP streaming have always worked well with my Pioneer DEH-710BT headunit in my car. The connection is solid and name/number information show up on the display as expected. There's no ringtone coming over the speakers, but I'm not sure if that is supposed to happen or not. Podcasts playing from my phone sound very good and I haven't had a problem with the connection (it will also properly pause and resume the the audio when receiving calls).
This was all great until I tried to use the Presentation Companion - a new feature in the Office 2010 for Mobile suite available on the Marketplace. It supposedly allows you to control PowerPoint presentations with your phone as well as see presentation notes on the phone's screen all via bluetooth. Microsoft insists that you have the Microsoft bluetooth stack installed on the phone for this to work. Since I do not, the connection fails telling me that I do not have any bluetooth devices. While this is only one small problem (so far) it is frustrating and makes me wonder what else won't work in the future.
is there any solution yet? or anyway to get the MS stack on there...i've tried two different BT stereo headsets, and a jabra dog tag...and none of them work on stereo audio. They always say "connection failed". I've tried flashing multiple roms, even the stock rom...and nothing works. Is there anyway someone can get the MS stack onto this, because honestly the three sets i have work flawlessly on my kaiser and Fuze.

No real issues here atm. ICS using BT PAN was a bit of a PITA but I got it sorted. A2DP sound quality needs to be tweaked by setting LineSpeed to 320. I was actaully able to simulcast to two different A2DP headsets yesterday...

just tried adding the linespeed value of 320, thats not working at all. Looks like no headphones for me tomorrow.
LineSpeed only improves the sound quality of a device that's already been successfully paired unfortunately.
Bluetooth is TERRIBLE!
I'm about ready to exercise my 30-day return with AT&T and go back to my Tilt. To get decent A2DP Bluetooth audio quality (i.e., doesn't sound scratchy and no skipping) it requires making registry settings FOR EACH DEVICE FOR EACH CONNECTION. Examples:
I have a S9 Motorola bluetooth headset; it skips with a LineSpeed registry setting of 320, but streams music fine with my car. If I cut the LineSpeed back to 200 to make my headphones work, the car sounds scratchy, like an old, dirty, scratched vinyl album.
When I stream from Live365 to my car, it always sounds scratchy. Windows Media and Nitrogen play beter, subject to the LineSpeed issues. So, bottom line, having to make registry mods each time I listen to music is ridiculous!
Another Terrible Bluetooth Problem: The Warning Message on Connect
There's another annoying problem with this WIDCOMM stack and A2DP: you get a warning message that the device can't control the volume and you have to use the remote device to set the volume. It pops up every time I get into my car and try to stream to my Sony bluetooth 2600 head unit.

Same problems here. Can't get my Jaybird Gear headsets to stay connected to the stereo configuration. It just keeps disconnecting. No problems with my Fuze or my Cingular 8525 though, just my Tilt2.
Hi XDA Gurus,
Recently purchased a Dasaita MTCE PX5 unit running Oreo 8.0. Upgraded to the latest MCU and software package straight away.
I just have a few issues and some advice that I was hoping to get from you guys.
Issues that I have..
1. Radio app or easy connection auto launches when I boot up my head unit - Is there anyway I can disable this.. searched and found a thread that mentions downloading startup manager and disabling it from there.
2. When both my OBDLink MX device and iPhone is paired to my headunit via Bluetooth, sound crackles and sometimes my OBD monitoring apps have intermittent disconnection to my OBD. Is this a common issue when 2 devices are paired.
3. Dashcommand app needs to be closed via task killer along with torque before it connects and works properly. Could this also be related to an app like torque auto starting in the background..
Need your recommendations..
1. Should I root my device via kingoroot? What’s the advantages.
2. Should I install Malaysk rom, what are the advantages. If my issues above can be resolved without custom rom I probably don’t need to buy if installing malaysk rom is beneficial then I will go for it.
3. How do I get more control over my device, I feel the settings are too basic for advanced functions.
Appreciate any feedback you guys can give me because I really like my carwebguru interface that I created and if 2 Bluetooth devices paired doesn’t play nice together then I’m happy using the CarPlay dongle that I should be receiving soon.

Don't run Dash command and Torque at the same time. This may be causing your Bluetooth problem with the crackling noise. So choose one or the other. I prefer Torque over any other OBD software.
As for the unit running easy connection at startup, once it's started go into the option menu on easy connection and disable the option for auto start.
I'm using a PX5 unit on 8.1 without said problems.
Hope this helps fella.

Thanks for the reply... I’m running them independently, never at the same time... that causes issues for me too.
When I run torque + phone at the same time I get crackling.
Easy connection doesn’t have an option within the app settings to stop it running at startup. Do you mean within App Info in android settings?

Hi
It's in the app itself. I will double check later on mine and post exactly what to do. But being it's only 6.10am and -5 degrees it's too cold to be looking now [emoji3587][emoji3587]

Sorry for you, the Dasaita , has audio problems caused by hardware (sound crackles) a lot of us have the same problem (looks like it has a shielding problem on the hardware)
*Wifi had (hiss sounds when downloading from the internet), I solved It changing the horrible wifi antenna.
*Some other has sound crackles when the unit is reading from the usb devices (usb dongles, cameras and other things).
*Some other has blank sound when they are calling from the bluetooth.
*Some other has blank sound and static when playing music.
Till now Dasaitia does nothing to resolve this problems. Almost all PX5 units from diferent brands has the same problem.
Do not try to root, it will kill your device (Dasaitia says that this thing is not rooteable)
Inside the option menu you can turn off the autostart.
