Hello,
Is there way to disable the wifi adapter complete? The option to turn off wifi is not enough.
It should be invisible for the user? Is this possible?
Thanks for the help!

What sense make this?
Olioaglio
Sence...
So that the user cannot use the Wifi possibility. They only have to use GPRS/HSDPA. I want to make sure that they cannot connect to the internet by wifi.

You want to lock something for someone? GSM providers do that. We unlock here...
Hmmm ... strange request. I imagine you MIGHT be able to cook up a ROM that disables WiFi, maybe baking your own CommMgr that doesn't include it. But Ithink you'll have to do that o your own, since you would probably be the only person worldwide who would want a Hermes that had the feature killed.
And you've got to remember that whatever you cook out of the ROM, an astute user will be able to defeat, simply by flashing a different one.
It would probably be cheaper, faster, and easier to simply buy a different device that doesn't have WiFi to begin with. If you don't want the features, why buy the device? :?

All,
I just used an IMEI service to unlock my two DASH phones. And now i obviously want to maximize the use of my phones. first by getting rid of the T-Mob crap that is on their by default, then setting up my POP email so that I am not limited to the default T-Mob "My-Email" config.
So...
1)What do I gotta do to get rid of the T-Mob crap? Is the IMEI unlocking a full unlock of the phone? Do I need to flash a custom ROM or change some REG KEYS?
2)How do I config my DASH to work with any POP mail account I want? Gonna guess that this will be partially sorted once the first issue is sorted. But surely there is way for me to config email on my DASH so that when connected (WiFi or GPRS) I can send/recieve my mail as if I were on my laptop?
3)Games and Apps. Would like to know the best site for FREE smartphone apps. (I am assuming these are different then Pocket PC apps?) And what would be the top recommended programs to make my DASH more functional?
4)Are there any good English-Spanish translators and Bibles that are available for download.
5)What is the best way to get movies (DVD's) on to my Dash so I can watch them. What format is best
6) Is there a way to get more use and function out of the JOGGR bar? Thought it was to help with scrolling and overall navigation, but it only seems to work for the volume (even though I have changed the setting for device and phone control)
Long list, but any help especially with the T-mob crap and the POP.
Thanks
Anyone??? C'mon some of you got to have answers to some of these issues and questions??

You could try searching this site a bit. i know that the answers to at least 3 of them are fairly easily found here.
also, nothing is stopping you from adding pop accounts, not even the t-mobile app.
I just wanted to watch some youtube with my home wifi, and then it works.. A week later i get a bill from att saying that i used a lot of data, the bill was like $300 because of youtube.
Is there any way to disable GPRS completly? I am Majorly Thankful
You can try to delete the connection settings
Start>settings>connections>>connections>manage existing connections>hold down on the connection and hit delete.
But that means no data capabilities at all via gsm/3g
Thanks boog
Your welcome!
But, no offense, when everything is centered, it is very odd to read.
it makes you have to concentrate on reading the post.
Or at least it's that way for me.
feels odd
Leads to the possibility of having to jump back and forth.
Instead of our normal language layout
Just saying, because I have noticed it in all your posts.
Alright, ill start doing that.. I just find it cool to do it. But thanks in advance for the advise.
I hesitated on posting it, afraid you would take it wrong. Glad you didn't!
Why whould you think that i would take it the wrong way? lol
It's easy to take things the wrong way on the net lol
I see what you mean. Illl defenitly keep you in mind.
And if you don't want to remove your settings completely, try "nodata" app.

Whops, too late. Lol
Wow, I didn't know about the nodata app.
Having unlimited data, I never felt the need.
Error when trying to run nodata
I get an error when trying to run this program on WM6.5. Is there another easy alternative? I don't have a data plan and don't want GPRS turning on without my knowledge.

You could try Advanced Configuration Tool 2.0 or higher to enable/disable your connection settings. Menu/Connection Settings...then click over the connections name to change states. I think is a more flexible solution than NoData since you can disable only internet and let other services/connections enabled.

delete your gprs/3g connection setting
go download htc connection manager run it once set it up and run nodata again
should work
Ah...thanks for the above. The solution was I didn't have a GPRS connection setup...(I'd just updated ROM's) and therefore nodata wasn't finding a connection to disable! I setup the connection and it worked just fine.
Thanks for the other posts too..I'll try both methods see which works best for me.
I have recently got one secondhand gray/black s620, probably Dopod or sth.
Somebody told me that my s620 model has no wireless.
I can't access to wireless management in menus. There are no wi-fi also in Comm manager.
Which s620 model has no wireless option?
When i remove battery there are only title "HTC Exclbr"
Several but i imagine a dopod c720...
If no wi-fi in comms then it's pretty self explanitary that there is no wi-fi, if you wanna check this flash another ROM and try.
Please use the search in future before posting as you can type "s620 no wifi" etc and could get an answer.

i have title EXCA210.
Can you tell me which is my model, because i want to downgrade in to native ROM.
Thx
Hallo Guys,
my Name is Veit and im from Germany, so please dont hang me up if my english is incorrect.
Ive bought a HTC Desire and i know an App called "Best Profiles" from my Nokia-Symbian-Phone and now i want to get something else on my Desire.
Best Profiles could switch my Nokia during the night into a "Offline-Profile" where Networking and WLAN is disabled so save Battery. In the morning it automatically switch back to a "Online-Profile" WITHOUT entry of the PIN.
I found some apps that could switch between several Profiles by time-schedule but always the PIN needs to be re-entered.
Is there a way to get it like on the Symbian-Phone ???
Will it be possible with a other App or with a Custom-ROM ?? My Desire is already rooted and my current ROM is the Offficial Untouched Froyo 2.2 from the Forums here !!
Hoping for future answers and a big THX for the guys who do the hard work here !!!
Have you looked at JuiceDefender on the market?
Can do all you want and more
It's free for controlling the mobile internet but you will need to buy UltimateJuice if you want to be able to control WiFi etc.
Hey, thats a good question. I didnt know that app before now.
So if i install / buy that app i should set the phone into Flight-Profile ( Disconnect from Network, shut down WiFi, shutdown Bluetooth ) and reverse all those settings after sleeping without retyping my PIN ???
Hello,
its me again. Ive tried 3 different Apps but everytime the same situation:
I have to re-enter my PIN after reconnect to the Network !!
Any suggestions ????
I don't think you will get an app to do exactly what you want.
When the desire is in flight mode it turns the radio off, turning the radio back on requires the pin entry.
Ultimate juice can turn off wifi, apn's etc, but would leave the radio on so it's not ideal for you.
Other than turning the pin prompt off, I can't see an easy solution for you.
S..t,
OK if its the only way i will switch off my PINcheck and will secure my Phone with the Unlock-Figure.
Maybe in the future some of the ROM-Kookers could switch of the PIN-Reentry procedure after switch off the Flight-profile.
Regards
Veit

Good idea! It might be worth asking for this feature in a specific rom thread so you can be sure the dev knows about it?
Hello fellows...
I'm just looking for an app to send files (something like p2p) between TWO android devices using a restricted GPRS service, I mean, no internet access....
I mean, send file to one IP to another one....
Just for send files, text, chat...or something like that....
any idea?
thanks in advance
BR,
chatfan
Can anyone help me out? any help / idea?
First of all, what you want is hard to implement.
Second thing is, why u want to invent the fire new?
I keep it short, it would be too hard to route it throug gprs. (you can read the wiki about mms to get a short overview)
so why not use a internet service?
Simplest thing would be the skype app, it is encrypted so not that unsecure.
If you want more securety, check https://guardianproject.info/apps/gibber/
and for filetransfer i would suggest wuala (groups)
or maybe you just use sftp(ftp over ssh)
cya
Let me explaining you and make it very simple.
Where I live there is not an ACTIVE Internet Service, I mean, no internet service in any of the subscribers in the UNIQUE and ONLY ONE carrier of Cell Phone in the entire country...can you get my point now?
Forget 3G, 4G and LTE, just GPRS and no service of data plan to anyone...
that is why I need this app.
thanks

than let me ask u a simpe question first.
can u send a mms?
and who far is the other device away from you? 10Km, 20km? 100km?
need little background information
ps.: or is wap working?
pps.: and how big would be the size of the data?
pps.: you've seen you IP? or do u assume that u get one?
here
Yes, I can send MMS perfectly
Very away about 50 or 60 Km, same carrier

so i checked it
there are many things wich can work but i dont think they will work.
First, you need to know your and the other persons ip.
First Problem will be they change, gprs is not static
Than you have to hope that you can connect with a build in protokoll.
There will be the second problem, you have to hope that tcp/ip works.
Without a server that handles the communication between you and the otherone its unlikely that this will work.
Thats the reason mms uses wap to get the communication to work.
Without internet access its a mess to handle that all.
[FUN ON]
there it would be simplier to use oldschool stuff like Acoustic Coupler and this
so you can get a terminal working over telephone but it would be damn slow ^^
[FUN OFF]
Mfg Alex
Yes, I am able to know the IP from another person and you are right, the IP is not static, changes in some time for a random IP..any idea how do this?
maybe you can help me out...
please help me!!
