Any chance of seeing a hacked rom of Windows Mobile 6.0 running on an ipaq hx4700?
Kozhura, the genius behind the success of WM5 AKU 3.5 on HX4700 said that he will be workin on WM6 after finishing the russian build of WM5. so just hang in there.
I also hope to see this for US units too, that would be great. It's too bad HP discontinued the best PDA they have ever made....
Anyone have any info if anyone has started "hacking" WM6 into a HX4700 ?

Yes, XIP files was from Universal's wm6 (quite old though) and IMGFS from M$ emulator image (also not that latest).

I'm using WM6[MagLite Edition,A01] on my AXIM x50v.
It's faster than WM5(wm2003se-like performance). and WM6 supports SDHC(over 8GB SD cards).
of course, it has some problems. for example, some applications doesn't work on WM6.
Well, it's confirmed...kozhura is working on WM6 for the HX4700 and in a week or 2 we should see a beta. Yes !!!! After what he (and his partners in this) did with WM5 on the system, I can't wait to see what he does with WM6 !!!!!

Sorry, it's already there, but unless you are a chinese rom-master (for whom, if any, I posted it) - I will not recommend to use my version, because I will not update it any further and after some time will delete it from that forum.
But kozhura+qwerty surely will release a more better english version soon, qwerty's mod of aku3.5 was really good so I think wm6 will be even better.

been there a while ago and as expected was not able to read any feedbacks about it, thx chamine for the efforts its a pity that you're discontinuing your project, goodluck on your next endeavour. Ill just wait for kozhura's WM6 rom to finish.

I do not believe that this is WM6 on a trinity. I think this is the Crossbow Wisbar Advance Skin that I use with a fake Info Screen?!.

Core version and build are the same as for latest tytn's rom.
windows update applet is in system settings as in 17736 build of wm6.
But only one thing is really strange, it's OK button...
btw, these screens could be from tytn's rom.

Yes it's very simple to put a screenshot from tytn with wm6 for exemple in the trinity's photo.

Anyone know when the official HTC TyTN WM6.0 will be ready for download? I like the sexy body of TyTN rom, slim and less rubbish. Latest WM5.0 ROM VER.2.11 will give you nearly 51MB free ROM and 31MB RAM, running stably. Even i updated Dopod (SG) WM6.0 but not statified since there are lots of rubbish and having pity small free ROM and RAM.
Look forwarding to SLIM and STABLE TyTN official WM6.0

The ROM released earlier this week was the DOPOD 838 Pro Official ROM...NOT the HTC TyTN ROM which the OP was referring to.
@albao....Give me a sec i will check and see if HTC has a ROM to download yet....
EDIT: Looks like there isnt a HTC ROM available to download yet.....not surprised. Im sure one will leak to us soon.

i'd love to see the tytn version , since its been 2 days using dopod version and i started to hate their freakin logo . HTC looks neat .

Thanks, i tried the rom it is quite old rom. And the free ROM and RAM is less than official dopod 6.0 rom as well.

Just wondering (honest question): is the the real site?
I mean, I also check http://smart-phones.be (registration required), and it offered a ROM update (RUU_Hermes_QTEK_WWE_2.11.255.1_104_6275_1.38.00.10_108_Ship.exe) TYTN that was (and still is) not listed on the europe.htc site... So I'm keeping an eye on both sites.
So far no luck though...

Try register (free) and create a personal code that enable others to dial you number directly or store it on their addressbook.
right now the closest youd get to a HTC Branded WM6 OS would be to
1. Install either the Dopod, AT&T, or O2 Germany Release
2. When the screen comes up "Customizing now", immediately Soft-Reset
That doesnt allow it to do its branding of the phone - so itd be the closest thing to OEM WM6

I bought an HTC p3600 last week and upgraded it WM6 for no obvious reason at the time. I tried over 6 different ROMs, and no offense to the beloved cookers, i couldn't stand the bugs, so I downgraded to WM5 again. The only things I'm missing from WM6 are the task manager menu on the top right of today menu (xBotton), which was extremly handy, the lovely big TouchPad and KeyPad, keyboards which Bepe has put in his ROMs, which are very good for writing messages with one hand, and the quick search in emails, while you typed your search string while in the inbox or any other folders. The last but the least is of coures, HTC home which is so good looking and handy.
Now is there anyway i could install these on WM5? I need cracked versions of course, as i'm leaving in Iran and due to lovely embargos getting worse every day I have no means to pay for stuff. So pls comment.

Try using the Dopod WM6 ROM or search this forum for the cab files you want.

One example is that ActiveSync was loosing it's connections in one of the cooked ROM's. That's not a problem if you use it only as phone but not handy when you sync mail from Outlook etc.
It's a big bug, but within a day it was fixed in that ROM and I could choose to use other ROM too.
The forum is called XDA Developers and that means bugs, but lastest developments too. You can't ask a bug free ROM incl. the lastest software. If you want that bug free ROM, maybe you consider an official build or consider another sort of phone like a Nokia 3310.
OR
Define your most important feautures and select one which has those features working. Report the bugs in the other features, but don't complain about them.

I did installed successfully, without any trick or crack the HTC X-Button 1.5 onto my wm5 official Qtek ROM on my Wizard.
So you can definitely have it on your wm5 ROM, just try to find the cab on the forum, it is somewhere there.
If you don't find it PM me, I will upload it for you.

I am glad that you started your own release of WM6.1 But it is possible for you to create some changelog or something? What has been added, what registry changes has been cooked in, what size of pagepool you used etc. I like to know what has been changed when I compare your two versions of win CE. I do not speak/read russian, even if I am from europe (but I know vodka well ) Right now I using 4PDA version from here. I will gladly test your ROM, because every time something new is out, I will try if it is better or not. Also if you need test something, let me know. My device is hx2790b. Nazdarovie.

I have not heard anything about the release yet...
some folks in the smartphone forum are cooking a version of 6.1 to work with a vox. not sure if anyone is working on a version for us but sounds like they're making progress over there anyway.

Pre-release beta test versions for the Moto Q8 were leaked, and that's what people used to cook WM6.1 ROMs for various HTC smartphones.
I made one for StarTrek a couple days ago. Just like the WM6.1 Professional for touchscreen devices, it is not an official release.

Yes ,It is aWWE Edition,but chinese will be the default language,when initialization done.
This ROM is with full English support ,but you have to switch it 2 English.

I asked some MS Mobile reps at the Windows 2008 launch in NY. The quote was '6.1 for the dash will be soon, don't worry, it won't be September.'

The diference from new HTC ROM:
The WM 6.1 improvements - use google to read about it
Many many useful tools - its hell more easy to have almost everyting you need in ROM - cracked and working
The speed is good - I don't know is this faster then new HTC, but it's fast enough and definitely is not slower.
New super cool sliding theme with usefull staff.
And that is all I see for now.
The big fat minus is the fact this rom is for Chinese people. You have full translation for Windows, but some programs is on stable Chinese language - but you don't need to use everything. I speak about 2-3 tools. Everything else is in English.
