I've had my XDA a couple of years.
It keeps turning off, although all the power-saving is turned off.
It turns off within a few seconds, and comes right back when you press the power button.
It does this when plugged to mains adapter, and when just on battery.
Shows battery 0%main, 100%backup.
Power light (orange or green, top right) do not come on.
Charger tests good and I bought a new battery and both it and the old battery show 3.6volts on a multimeter.
Tried soft and hard reset, but no luck.
Really really grateful for any help ...
or is to repairable? worth repairing? who could do it.
Many thanks.
Did you check the connectors for the battery on the phone? They may be dirty.

Yes and cleaned them with contact cleaner and they seem fine.
What foxes me is the main battery shows zero and the backup 100%. It's as though the XDA is telling itself to shut down because the main battery is at zero, except it isn't...
I said that you got a new battery. Did you get the same problem with the old battery?
In the worst case something died inside your BA...
Yes I got a new battery because I thought it was the battery. Both show 3.6v and both make the "aux" position in the stand glow green, but no green (or orange or red) glow on the xda itself.
So it's the XDA but is this a software problem or hardware, and is can anyone suggest how/where to get it fixed?
Thanks again!

Hi.
I will try and detail everything about my xda so that I can cover most of the subjects that have been spoken about on this forum.
I am trying to get my xda up and running again, it has not been working for quite some time know so I have not used it in a long while because it stopped working last year and I just left it. Since then I have moved on to another Job and would benefit from the use of the xda.
I have the cradle and the power supply. If I put the battery in the cradle dock it won’t charge, no orange light on the cradle to say it is charging. If I place the xda in the dock or connect it to the power supply then the orange light on the top right hand corner stays on, regardless of whether the battery is in or not. Now I am confident that although you should have a battery in the unit, for the purpose of trying to get it running I am happy to use the power supply. I have followed all the guides to doing a hard reset, such as reset, camera and recorder buttons. For a while nothing was happening, and then suddenly the screen showed a faint image of o2, the network provider I am on. After a few attempts I managed to get it to come on again, and now I have figured a way of how to get it on and what looks like is the problem. If you connect the power supply, only with the battery in the back, the screen comes on with the o2 logo, and those familiar with the brand, you can see the blue oxygen bubble in the water, a blue background. Now, when you connect it straight away, the display lights up, not very bright, but it is noticeable, and then a second later, the orange light comes on to say it is charging, the screen then fades so you can just notice it, and then it goes off and nothing happens. Windows doesn’t see the device through USB, not even for the fraction of time that the unit becomes alive. I am aware the battery is a problem, but I don’t want to be buying a battery for something that it is already broken.
I have taken the unit apart following the guides available on the net, only as far as taking the fascia off and checking the board for damage or loose connections.
Any advice?
Neil.
how about the battery? have you tried a replacement?
I have not tried a replacement battery as I thought the unit could still power up without the battery.
how about checking the little trip-switch under the battery lock notch? if you dont want to have a battery. you should check it if it is on when you put the powersupply.
Just checkup the backlight settings again.
Well I have had my note 2 for almost a year now, never an issue. The last couple weeks it has been locking up on me. I had to reset it via taking the battery out. This morning it locked up and it will not turn back on. Charging it also shows no LED lights at all (tried different charger and battery). I have a dongle, tried it.. no go. Also of course tried Volume up/down home combo...no go. Running stock rom/rooted. Any help or ideas would of course be appreciated!
Slight update: While pressing the power button, the red led light blinks quickly, but still no go...

They 'seem' to be ok...Best I can tell anyway.
First of all you need to power up your N2 and for this you need some equipments to check the battery connectors and the mainboard status if there is any short circuits etc...I recommend you to visit an service for this.

I imagine that would be the best course of action. Like I said, I did try another working battery (wifes N2), no go. Mine does work in hers. Has to be the phone hardware I think...
Also take the charger with you too. I burned out mainboard of iPhone5s with a charger because of it's connectors.
Unfortunately I have no service center close. With this international phone I may be SOL...
Sds?

I bought an OEM battery for my Dinc2 from eBay. It didn't look like it was charging, but I left it in there for a few hours. The phone never turned on with the new battery. So I took it out and put the old battery back in (which had a 100% charge)...and now the phone goes to the htc white screen and then goes to black. When I try to turn it back on, nothing. I take the battery back out, and I can turn it on again, but again it only goes to the htc screen and then goes to black.
I can hold power + power down to get into the boot screen. Recovery goes to htc, then black. Factory reset goes to htc, then black.
Is it possible that a bum battery killed my phone?

Sounds like your charging port is broken in my professional opinion. Even if the indicator shows the red light on the top, it does not mean the device is charging. The reason why it turns on and goes black in my opinion is, that it gave you a false charge on the battery when you charged it and won't turn on properly. You're able to go to the Boot menu because it hardly takes any battery life. I'm a cell phone technician, but that's just a guess from what you've told me. It could be a totally different reason. It's a very easy fix if that's the case. The charging port is on a flex cable and you can purchase it for about $5. As long as you know how to open the device properly, you'll be fine. If not seek a professional.

Thanks for your assessment. I guess what I don't understand is how the charging port could break with a discharged/faulty battery? When I first plugged the battery in, it made the orange light blink a few times, which I know is a signal that the battery is really low.

The charging port is really fragile, not much holding it down, especially since its on a flex. I'm not sure if this is against the forum rules or not, you can send it to me if you would like, and I'll be more than happy to fix it for you. Just pay shipping, part and labor. Part and labor $20 and you can use whatever shipping method you would like. Just give me labels to get here and back. You can take it to any repair center near you and they will probably charge you about $50-70. That would decrease the amount of time from the shipping, but it's totally up to you.
My screen was cracked and the touch was affected so I bought a new screen online and followed a simple video to replace it. Everything went fine but once I removed the battery I noticed a bet of a puncture on one of the sides with no smell so I thought it is external and won't affect the phone. When I put the phone together it did not start. I tried charging it which gave the red blinking led, should mean drained battery, left if there for a while still won't turn on and it was over heated so I removed the charger until it cooled down then tried again with the same observation. I did that a few times and then, the phone does not even show the red blinking led nor heat up.
Does this mean the battery is totally ruined or there could be another problem? and how can I test what is wrong?
Symptoms sound similar to the LG Nexus 4. Try reseating the battery connection

Thanks for the replay.
I have done that already and made sure the it is fine. Do you know how can I test if it is the battery ?
Hi guys
Just cannot seem to get the thing to charge.
Tried different charger/usb cable. Got completely new USB power board. Sometimes the battery icon comes up on the screen when i turn it on of just a battery with a bit of low red at the bottom of it. It won't turn on. Theres not even a charging beacon light on top of the phone to indicate charge.
What does this usually show? Bricked phone, bad motherboard or bad battery?
Cheers.

Is the error that comes to screen
"USB not supported"?
not getting any error mate. It is totally dead.
I did buy a new battery which had 4% life left. Not enough to copy 64GB data to an SD card.
It seems it must be the main board which is damaged. I have replaced the power board and the middle ribbon cable. This has to be a mobo issue unless u can think of anything else?

I still don't think that's mobo issue. Try this before you intend to replace your mobo.
Plug in charging using any charger other than wall charger. Use a power bank or anything and when the battery icon shows up that you described in first post(the red icon) leave it there as it is and let it charge over night. Try powering up in the morning.

I dont get any icon on the screen when I plug a charger in. Even the powerbank... When i plug that in I get no beacon light on the top of the phone to indicate charge and also no icon on the phone screen. The phone never gets hot when it charges and the charging device never gets hot. Stone cold both of them.
What do you reckon?

I think your phone needs a doctor ?. Take him to the hospital (service center). Last resort before going to service center is take the battery out and charge it using one of those battery charger.

The annoyance is though its not the normal kind of battery you come across...
Take a look here: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ScMAAOSwVm5Y-v50/s-l300.jpg
It has a strange connector on it. one of which I have never seen before.
How do i find service centres located in Australia?
Many thanks again
