Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone could please tell me which ROM is best for good battery life and excellent stability? I have been having problems with the shipped WM5 ROM and want to throw my Dopod in the ocean! Stability sucks, keys stop working, it's just awful.
I hope a good WM6 upgrade will fix my problems!! Please help.

If you're willing to try one, then try many. You'll get lots of opinions, but like anything - it's your own that will count.
Read through the rom threads and pick one. They're all pretty good - just depends on what you want it to include.
All the ROMS have their positive's and negative's. but if u just want to move to WM6 and things just work (eg, dont have to enter settings, etc..) then download the SEA dopod WM6 ROM. it has all the settings for Australian providers and after 2weeks of useage, ive had no major issues.
in short
if u want things to just work...... SEA dopod WM6 ROM
if u want a customized ROM (manual settings entry)..... pick any ROM
(overall the devices with WM6 are more stable and increase battery performance)
just try them all!!
Drooch
Thanks Matt, I have been trawling and trawling and can't really come up with an answer to my question that is why I was hoping that someone with some experience might be able to help.
Thanks,
adam.
Thanks, Drooch, I might just give that a go.

Awesome!
Dear cookers on XDA,
I am a kinda rookie on the cooking area. And i would love to make my own ROM with my stuff and etc in it. But its pretty hard with minimum info on the internet. I have searched many times on the internet for a good tutorial how to cook your own rom, or how to edit a rom. Only found 1 pretty good tutorial but it wasnt a perfect one with the needed details.
Now my question is, can somebody make a good tutorial how to edit/make/cook a rom?
With like everything in it, like add/remove your apps/cabs change your splash screen etc. I would realy love that!
I think im not the only one who likes this, a good tutorial about cooking!
So i hope that somebody can make one!
Yours,
Ruubs
(Sorry for my bad english)
The Tutorials exist in this very thread. A simple search would allow you to see them.
Here is one for 6.1.
For 6.5, not really a tutorial but it can get you started HERE
Thank you,
but i allready used that tutorial, and that one is not the best one, much bugs in it. and i also need a tutorial or instructions how to edit an already cooked rom.
and i also used that 6.5 kitchen, its a nice one but the kitchen issnt ready yet. and i cant edit an already cooked rom with it.

not all cooked roms are for edit.
some cookers minimize it so much for performance or ram,
that the roms cant be edit.
and some cookers dont want that other people edits .... why? dont know.

Would you like your work to be ripped off, retagged so someody can pass it as their own?
you got a point, but some people like me, just want their own apps and other crap in it, just made for your own.

In the Diamond ROM development section is a thread 'noob kitchen'.
It started about someone asking for a light ROM and how to add his own stuff, it ended up me and him discovering how to cook and describing the first steps at how to start and the things to do afterwards.
The short answer:
Get a simple kitchen to start with, bebe's own kitchen on platformrebuilder is a good start (visual-kitchen is complete but can be complex if you just start).
Dump a stock rom with it (bebe has excellent example-videos on his forum) and start playing.
With the new rom-unlocker you can dump more existing roms, but it is VERY important to remember the wishes of the original cook. Don't go posting it around.
If you get into the more 'advanced' stuff like porting os-builds a complex kitchen with more tools ready like ervius visual-kitchen is good.

no problem.
if i could make a people happy with a rom that was generated by deleting files/entries here and there or putting files/entries here and there by respecting the syntax, that was finding out by really roots, than is o.k. for me.
if we look back than we have to say that we all marked roms with our names.
only some people, not much, are the really cookers (roots). the most of them stopped their works and change it back to their life (study finished, wife comes back from hospital, but not alone, a small think, i think it called baby
we need people like you describe ... cause changing my name to his name means that their spend time to learn/understand structure and syntax. some new ideas can grown up.
the new kind of kitchens can do seperate languages, xips, roms, syss and oems by using "grafical interface". but when we do a snapshot of this kitchens, you get a better dos-optic by using more mouse for adding/deleting completly folders. no details. enough good for beginners, but a step back for not-beginners. i think, its time to say, that kitchens couldn't be a one-man-project, lets help you and seperate the works. with deep-detail-love.
for beginners i say "respect the search-functions, dont use a specified devicename like diamond touch blablabla. but use htc as devicename for more tips. the cook-rules/syntax are nearly the same for all htc's"
for no-beginners with strong answers i want to say "if you angry to reading a question now for 100 times ... nobody kills you, if you NOT answer!!!"
Hi to all!
Is there someone who have an idea on how to upgrade a gsmart ms800 to wm6.1 or better on 6.5? i took a look at many forums and many sites but i've never cooked a rom and i don't know how to do it, i've downloaded the official roms but they all are for wm6.0...

May be a new Category can be created for these phones....
Hope the Admin takes note of this!!!!
Hi hari_mkb
i'm so proud for receiving this post from you, because i've never receive any answer from this forum and i was thinking no one mind about gsmart users.. but i know we have a minor brand and so there are not so many "gsmarters". I think the only way is to ask to the other boys with gsmart to lift their voices only with a post in this (or other) thread and then i think we could do something good.
Have a good day
Me too
Yep, me too have a gsmart winmo phone - a MW700 and i'd love to put windows mobile 6.5 on it.
It's very hit and miss on this forum as to whether anyone will even bother to reply to you. I guess people are busy with other things on other phones.
I think we need a developer who buy a gsmart.. i tried to cook my own ms800 rom using the instructions on mybestpda but i had many problems. I so hope someone better than me can work on gsmart roms. I think i've lost time enought, so i prefer to wait.. bye bye
hi all
u can find more info about wm6.1 or 6.5 on ms800,mw700 here http://www.mybestpda.com/forum/mw700-ms800/
but one problem...site on russian language
good luck )
It's really from mybestpda i've start my adventure on cooking a rom for ms800.. because it's really a good site, but there is no roms for ms800.
There is a thread on cooking roms and i tried loosing so much time...
There is another site www.gigabyteclub.ru that is really good and is in Russian, but there there are only russian roms and i don't understand how to use the kitchen (in russian), google translator it's not enought for me....
Gsmart Problem
Hello guys, i have big problem, i try to flash my Gsmart MS800 with modified rom and now i can't start the phone, only see light display. Sombody know the key combination for bootloader menu? I want to reinstal the original one.
Hope smb will help me, otherwise i have to throw ot of the window this phone
If somebody have more info/help post me personal msg or find me in Skype: chiunomoreno_
Hi Chinomoreno,
i had a problem like you some months ago, and the main board of the phone was burned.. i hope it is not the same for you, mine was an original rom so i could use warranty.
I think it's better for you to go on www.mybestpda.com and search in the forum..
Hi and have a good luck
I don't understand why people do so...
What's wrong with the default ROM that the device was released on? I'm new to all this and I want to know what's so hot about flashing to a new ROM? Is it basically just a different theme for the device? Or is it specific applications that you need/want because it's cool to have?
Someone let me know what's so good about it because from reading the forum all of this stuff is confusing! HDSPL, SSPL and all that...huh??? Lol
I'm new to all of this and I just want some information because I'm looking forward to getting the new TP2 for T-Mobile. Maybe if I get a better idea why you guys do it and how do you do it, I can learn and do these myself when I get my TP2.
Thanks guys!
Well
On my experience cooked ROM´s by our great chefs here are always much better than the custom ROM´s
They include stuff/apps/ etc. that normally is not included by default.
Actually if this site with their great chefs wouldn´t exist WM OS would be bad as hell!
So the best way is to read the Wiki to understand all the terms and procedures and then try one cooked ROM by yourself, you won´t regret!!
I think that for tp2 there is not yet any cooked ROM, but sure they will apear soon! (if not already )
Orb is correct check out the Rom section and read the "stickies" for further flashing details
Aight cool, thanks for the replies guys.

I think WM still would be great without chefs doing what they do. I mean WM6.5 looks great and WM6.1 is good. Yeah the older WM was horrible! Lol
I will probably get a different ROM only for apps because WM6.5 looks great and should run great like I said. Other then that I'm not interested really!
