Shaps or satin - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

i have installed the "OFFICIAL" wm6 on my dopod 838pro but i find it not very Ecxiting, i mean it doesnt have all the goodies that shaps & satin
have....anyway i was just wondering what do you have installed (like a poll kind of thing) maybe it will help me decide which one to Flash
btw before i get flamed..... i could try both my self ,i just cant be F**ked re-installing all the appz i have
and huge thanks to both shaps and jasjamming for their time and talent
and to xda-developers

I have tried them all.
In terms of speed and usefull apps I chose the Schap's version on my device. It's all very personal so I think you should really try them out your self!
Greetzzzz Ben

me too use schap's rom and found it suit me the best in term of speed and application built in.

What is a good WM6 ROM

Hi,
Just looking at putting a WM6 ROM onto my Trinity and was trying to find out which ROMs people would recommend. I'm currently using Schap's WM6 Pro 4.30 which I really like but is sometimes slow.
Thought I'd ask now before I start to set my phone up again.
Thanks
I've been using bepe's 0.79 ROM, and the only problem is the battery and memory drain, which is quite noticeable.
I'm also looking for a new ROM for my Trinity.
atm i'm using bepe's 0.79er rom too....
has some minor bugs, but seems to be the best rom for me...
with some app's added, it's really great:
- FtouchSL ( very important for me *g* )
- Schap's Jbed Java
- Spb ELF Calculator Skin
+ my favourite programs ( opera mini + mobile ; google maps ; tcpmp ; im+; pocket-Snes etc. )
I've been using TOMs Black2Blue ROM for long time and I's really good and fast ROM (here). Yesterday I've switched to ausdims WM 6.1 v.3.0 (because of WM6.1 offcourse, here). It also works perfectly for now and it's fastest ROM i've encountered so far.
I'm fairly new to ROM updates on a PPC so tried a few out. To be honest, they were all good (Mary, Bepe, Schaps) but I preferred the look & feel of Ausdim's.
Truy a couple out - you'll decide very quickly which one is closest to your needs.
Maxi
thanks
Thanks to those who replied I'll give them all a go.

Which is the Best rom to update wm6 to wm6.1

Dear member,
I am new to this rom update. I am confused with many rom available for updating WM6 to wm6.1. I am using At&t 8525-wm6. Now i want to update it to wm6.1. Can any one please help with the best rom link to download and update my 8525 os.
I am using HP laptop with vista ultimate-32bit.
Thanks in advance.
Krishna
"the best rom" is all preference really, you should try them out and see which one works best for you etc.
im using CrC's rom, however people are having troubles with V10 so go for v9 in my opinion however other people have other views.
I tried crcs and farias r32 wm6.1,, I think wm6 is better to tytn, cos wm6.1 needs more ram.. and the device cant work well with multitasks..
now I´m using schaps wm6 4.31. and its better than all wm6.1 in my opinion
bye
I definately agree with sebastianmc. Schaps WM6 (4.31) is one of the best roms available. My suggestion is to steer clear of WM6.1 ROMs since they tend to be buggy and if you still have hair in your head, you'd be ripping them off a hand full at a time.
Schaps is supposedly going to release his WM6.1, so hang tight and give it a shot when it is posted here.
Thanks for the question and the answers. I have been running JJ's Black Magic ROM since way back and it is still going strong on my device. But am feeling the urge to jump to a new ROM. I will try Schaps 4.31 and see. I will wait for a 6.1 ROM.
Thank you
Dear Members,
Thanks for the valuable information. I am going to install Schap's wm6 Pro 4.31 on my 8525. Is Schap's wm6.1 final version released?
Well I had Schwaps, (sp) 4.31 on my phone for months without a single issue.
Until I was getting random deaths with my Bluetooth GPS and TomTom, then I was getting hard times to answer the phone, would hit answer and it would still ring 2 or 3 times before I could get it. Probably just from being stale in my phone for months with dozens of apps installed and removed.
I changed to the latest CRC release and was loving it, until this AM the phone was locked up completely. It was so locked I did a hard reset on it. I did stay with the CRC. Its a great rom. I love the speed of it, I really like the way it handles SMS messages, ah hell I like everything about it.
Only draw backs is that it is not a "loaded" app. There is no office, no games, no big clock on your desktop. You have to add all that stuff in later. Ands it appears to be a game of Russian roulette when you hit the button to install.
I would browse around all the roms, even do a quick install of a few and play with them for a day. If you don't like it change to a new one.
I am in the same boat as you , I want, I need, a rom that has all the windows bells and whistles with office. Pocket Rar would be good. Windows Audio player would be good. Ah well I am going to keep searching.
Thank you for ur advice mr . it was helpful .. the question now is did u find something better as u said coz i am looking for something as u do
Shadow CE
I don't know why you guys experience such headache with 6.1 ... I've tried every 6.1 posted and they had mostly all given me issues (mostly speed) .. But the one 6.1 rom that i daily use is Shadow CE . It's fast, reliable and never (seldomly) ever gives me issues .
I reboot once a week, sometimes less . with Shadow CE 6.1 ..
I use ShaDoW's rom too and I love it as far as 6.1 roms go. I haven't had to reboot it at all since I've had it on, ... wait a minute - yea I did, 1 time. Sorry, and I have been running it since it came out a while a go.
The only trouble I have with it is the MMS service. I don't use bluetooth or any of that other stuff though.
Its a very stable rom for 6.1. I've been trying a different 6.0 rom lately and miss ShaDoWs rom. Will be going back to it in the next day or so.
try this one....
i love it ....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=387516
but remember to flash this one first to avoid hard resets
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334946
also it may not be right for u if u use 3G or MMS

No more Windows 6.1?

Now that all new ROMS are being cooked with Windows 6.5, I wonder if those of us that prefer 6.1 have finally reached the end of our Trinity journey.
Personally, as a user of SPB Mobile Shell 3.1, I really don't need the memory expense of a flashy start menu with icons, or an extended scrolling today page. As a result, I have now been using the same ROM (the excellent Team CV93+Oggi's WM6.1 21042 UltraLite) for a record period of time! I guess as always it boils down to personal preference, but... is that the end of the road for new build 6.1 ROMS?

Of course, wm6.5 eats more ram but you have a more finger friendly os... fex
Whith chanvi's kitchen whith the cab for quickmenu and removing honeycomb he gets 23MB ram free. Also, if you delete all png related to themes you should gain some more ram...
I'm only saying that you can get a 6.5 rom whith 6.1 UI...
I'm using TomTom so whith 21MB RAM free (my own build 23001 whith CHOME plus everything I need) I'm really happy

Hi mac_es,
Yes, I tried this but eventually had the sensation that all I was doing was turning a 6.5 into a 6.1, so then I thought... why not just stick with 6.1?!
Interesting hearing peoples comments though.
I guess one big factor is if the user wants (like most of us) for their device to have the latest technology (which is why we're all addicted to flashing!).
The votes are fairly 50:50 so far.
Mattster.
I am biased towards WM6.5
Hi Friend,
I urge you to try Chanvi's recent 23001... Dude- it is both smart, quick, well managed memory, and the kitchen is awesome.
None of the WM6.1 I used to flash was not that good. i am sire oggi will come up with a superb WM6.1 and it is most likely be as good as the WM6.5, however, I find it hard to believe you still use Win98 right? XP was a natural way to go, and WM7 will be the next thing (ignore Vista for the analogy..)
Same is with WM6.5 in a year from now I wish you a new phone (WVGA and lots of RAM) but if you will still have trinity for any reason (I will probably keep it) then Wm6.5 is the closest to the new generation phones.
BigE
PS: I voted W6.5 and now it is not 50:50 ..
Hi to all
I liked very much the Rom's of Team CV93+Oggi.
The 21042 is fantastic concerning free Rom. The 6.5 Rom are also great and with QM the free Rom is not bad.
But with this roms and no additional SW I have had some problems:
1. when I made a call from a fix net to my trinity than the display appears only after 1-2 beeps on the fix phone and then it takes another beep before my trinity start to ring
2. sometimes I had missed call/sms but good network
The only solution for me was to install SPB Phone Suite to be rememered all 5 minutes for missed calls or sms.
Now I'm back to good old 017TNYSTD:
1. before I can hear first beep on fixnet phone the dispaly goes on and with first beep or a little later my trinity rings, also with many additional SW
Do you have the same expirience?
My favourite rom would be 21042 because of the free space (iGO8) but the phone part of my Trinity has to be 100% working.
Do you have an idea?
@Oggi,
could it be fixed on new 21042

How to get the ROM "Team CV93+Oggi's WM6.1 21042 UltraLite"
I've had a few people IM me asking where I got this ROM from, so I thought I'd post the answer here:
To get this ROM you need to "create" it using Chanvi's Kitchen. Don't worry, it's not really "create", it's just selecting it and hitting a button. Follow these steps:
1. Scroll down to POST 2 of the thread below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=513421
There you will see a link for WM 6.1 Kitchen AND Emulator WM 6.5 from MS. Click on 21042 WM 6.1 WWE+FRA Kitchen for Trinity [/B]
If you prefer, just click on the following link:
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=5330c72c2c98e20d7069484bded33bcd48c3279b870421d7
2. Download and save the Kitchen zip to your desktop. Once downloaded open it up and copy the folder inside to your desktop.
3. Open the foldfer and click on Ervius Kitchen exe.
A box will appear.
4. Re-select Trinity (important to do this) then select the ultralite rom in the drop down menu on the right.
5. Click on the Create Rom.
6. Whilst the ROM is being put together, connect your device via usb to get Active Sync going. When the ROM is ready, the familiar flash screen will appear and I guess you know it from there!
Any problems give me a shout.
Mattster.
Nice thread Mattster!!
I also miss WM6.1 ROMs... I use iGO8 and RAM is always a problem! If only we had more memory
I would gladly move to WM6.5 but I need the RAM for iGO8.
Interested to see what Oggi can come with!
Go WM6.1!

Hi joncgde.
Thanks for the post.
If you use iGO8, user "BigE" could have a lot of good advice for you. He is somewhat of an expert at tweaking the Trinity to work well iGO8, even with a 6.5 ROM. He speaks very well of Chanvi's recent 23001.
That said, the votes for users of just Windows 6.1 vs users of just 6.5 are at present 50:50, plus there are other users who enjoy both. Interesting stuff.
Mattster.
hi Mattster_spv, i guess we are somewhat similar. a fast naked rom with simple UI. i have voted wm6.1 for this reason. i guess our trinity is not a good candidate to run wm6.5. i still preferred the good old htc home than chome (too many steps). i'm a big fan of finixnover and chanvi & oggi. my device still running th elast cooked rom of finix's. it would definitely make my day if the great cooker would just keep on updating wm6.1 rom. thanks.

Hi Callmepaper.
I totally agree. The only real reason I don't use Finix's last light rom is that it's too black. Looks great but sometimes hard to see in the sun. Such a shame he broke his Trinity!

I recommend you visit and try SafeMode 3.1. See www.monocube.com
I have only 10M free RAm when i use the phone as Phone/PDA. When i want to use iGO I reset the phone, and start it in 'safe mode'. Than I run iGO with freaking 31M free RAM although i have WM6.5 !!!!!!!!!
I enjoy both worlds- tons of free RAm when needed for iGO, or beautiful GUI, graphics and features otherwise. For whom who thinks Trinity can not deal with WM6.5 - I was that pesimistic too, until Chanvi the great proved me wrong...

(ask)please,i need an opinion about a reccomend rom for my dopod 838 pro

Hai,guys
I just bought a dopod 838 pro 2 days ago...
I'm still confuse 'n so noob about cooked rom..
There's a few question...
1.I need an opinion from all of you, which rom that will be good in a dopod 838 pro...?
2.Does all of wm 6.0/wm 6.1/wm 6.5 can be installed spb mobile shell 3?
3.And if I installed any programs, where is the best place,in the storage memory or in the memory card?
Ok,only that.I hope you guys can answer it.
You need to read up about each rom, each one is different and what suits me might not suit you.
SPB shell 3 works on all versions.
Most programs can be put on the sd card bu for things like shell I prefer to put on internal memory. Its up to you but if the phone is gonna be using that app all the time its better to be on the phone memory.
Cheers...
looking standart wm 6.1 for my dopod 838pro...

I recommend you, to begin as noob with the upgrade to WM 6.1. It's fast, stable, upgradable, compatible to all software, etc. If you have collect some experience, you can upgrade then to 6.5, but this ROM is slower than 6.1, for example, if you use Gameboy Color or Playstation Emulator Games you'll see it. But the advantage of 6.5 is more fingerfriendly ergonomics. But this fingerfriendlyness you can get also on 6.1 with additional software (Touchflo, FTouchFLO, SPB Mobile Shell, PointUI, etc.).

Generally thoughts, not against this Angin-ROM:
Not every brand new ROM is usefull for Noobs using "in the wild", I mean, if you really need the full functionality of your phone and your third party software...
Sure, it can be stable for several days, but at the weekend it could freeze, or the videoplayback is suddenly bad at your visit to the booring grandma, or the automatic quiet mode don't work at the most important meeting with Mrs. Clinton, etc. and a Noob don't knows hardreset and Spritebackup Exe-Files, etc.
I guess the Angin V6.9F is a very good and stable ROM, but maybe comes the problems at the moment, when he is playing Age of Empires? I recommend for a absolutly Noob better to take ROMs, that are tested for a while, tested for months, tested by other Noobs and their diverse software, not only by flash-junkies like us...
thank's alot for you lnyxx...that help me so much....now i'm trying to follow your suggestion...

I really need a help for obtaining an excellent WM6.5.x ROM + <<sense 2.5>>

Don't waste your time with 6.5 it is always going to be slow
Now I can tell you what a good all rounder rom is an that is the MEMO one.
I would say this as I'm helping with it but IMHO it's a keeper.
MEMO Rom
Yes, i too say that 6.5 is not for Diamond. So why u try that?
With all the options the MEMO ROM is the best one (Try it and feel it)

I'm using the latest energy rom + cookie home tab, and is fast, stable and has good graphics..there is only one problem the free ram is a bit (18-20 mb)
energy rom
Sure, energy roms, especially the latest, are bright, fast, BUT NOT LIGHT due, perhaps in a certain way to the huge amount of apps included. Things that most people does not use. I prefer using wm 6.5.5 rahter than 6.1, but today there is no light rom WITH SENSE (2.1 OR 2.5) AND WM 6.5.5. You can find a good titanium rom wm 6.5.5 (ralpfudsion ralGT1J) with plenty of free ram and stable
Hi,
First you need to understand the limitation of your equipment and specially for the ram. On my side I have tried several rom and I have normally a preference for rom 6.5.x due to my HD2. So I found a good compromised between 6.1 and 6.5.x it is a 6.5 rom (build 21907) back to basic. There is enough ram left and I can customized as I want. The other solution as stated above is to use a titanium version of 6.5.x or 6.5. I also recomand Ormet rom the 8.32 one.
Hope it will help you
I would suggest you to try out the Gen Y WWE ROM. Its a 6.1 with Sense 2.1 ROM. Pretty stable. It has a share of its own issues, but you may wanna try it out yourself. Its got a very good integration of Sense into it with a Start Menu that the Topaz (Diamond 2) shipped with.
The link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521941
Here you go. Try it. Its got some good features. If you are starting out new, I suggest take small steps. Rather than taking a leap into 6.5 or 6.5.x give this one a try.
What's your idea ?
tanX of all for your nice suggestions nonetheless it's better that i use WM6.1 for HTC touch diamond instead of WM6.5.X
I INSTALLED DONSALARI ROM(WM6.5) ,IT WAS NOT BAD... , however it has some features that i want
roughly OK : WM6.5.X+SENSE 2.5

I personally had issues with that rom. Diamond does not truly perform too well with it. Had it for a few days then removed it. For instance my video stuttered horribly with it and my album never even began playing H.264 videos. I could only use WMP.
I personally think you should fall back on a tweaked 6.1 ROM with Sense 2.1 or Sense 2.5. Maybe you could search for Manila cab and install it.
try the Don Salari rom dude. i think it's the best official rom n' it's very light (clean basic). good luck!
you might want to try out Benko's 6.5.3 ROMs for Diamond.

P.S. Even that has issues though.
