Battery Gauge CAB - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

There is a little utility available here that I think is suberb - it's a little battery gauge that runs across the top of the screen (see the screenshot) but noone as far as I could find has ever created a cab for it.
Well, here it is It's a brilliant little app - like batti but more colourful ;-)
The cab will install the app in program files and create a shortcut in the startup folder to run it on startup. I've had absolutely no problem with this but as always, make your own backup first !
It is possible to change various things like the colours, size etc and also to hide portions to make it go behind buttons etc. in wisbar skins
I must stress that I did not write this app and take no credit for it - that belongs entirely to ins0mniaque for producing a brill little app
I just thought everyone else should know about it
Smiffy.

Does this have the same problem of replicating itself every time the application is launched? Seems like that was an issue in the original thread.

Not bad work! But it is pleasant to me more!))

Thanks, those are very cooool looking gauges.

Will any of these programs accurately measure the life of the battery?
Shogunmark and Faira were talking about this issue (some time ago) where the battery would only decrease by 10%, not 1% like on the wizards.

Why would you keep launching the application? Isn't once enough?
I've read the thread and that only occured because someone was messing with the settings.
As for the apps posted by juvs - they seem a bit..."flat" to me - the one i cabbed looks nice and 3d on mine (as much as a 3-pixel-high app can, anyway ) and I don't like the memory gauge on the bottom of the taskbar - that's intrusive if you ask me.
Now p*** off and get your own thread
Smiffy.

I wish there was a way to change the color of the bar. I don't like that fruity rainbow color. It looks bad IMO.
I've been using the O2 battery meter for now. It matches the color of the theme and doesn't stand out like a rainbow does:
(My battery is at 100% now, but when it goes down the bar reduces in size and leaves gray behind.)

I'll give your battery meter a try when I next flash a ROM....waiting for JJ's final instalment
I've used Batti for ages, but I'm kinda liking the "traffic light" effect in yours - let's see what comes out on top
Thanks for posting it (and nicking my sig LOL )
Mark.

If it's yours, you must use it on another board - 4winmobile perhaps? I didn't remember seeing anyone on here with it when I "adopted" it
Besides, it's so fitting
Smiffy

Apology accepted
Yeah, it is fitting - it's a good reminder to n00bs to "engage brain before opening mouth" Sadly, that doesn't happen often enough.....
You're right, I do use it elsewhere - MoDaCo, 4WM "and many, many more"
I don't mind you "adopting" it - it's reassuring to see it being used by someone who understands its' meaning!
Cheers,
Mark.

how can we remove this Battery icon for the clock

Hi All
Does anyone know how to change the Battery Icon on the new ROM. This is the same screen when I was back using the Hima05.
Hey, Buzz sir, could you give us a flash on this? I have searched for the Reg but without luck.
Thank
Julius
I don't know how to do this, but check this post, it's a small plugin that replaces the standard date/time plugin with configurable format and internet (swatch) time support!!

Looks nice,
an option to add the week number shuold be nice.
I can't really give suggestions as I've poured a bunch of cash into a project much like it - figures, two projects that are very much like it pop up right after I do so, and a long time after I openly requested it. That's life eh ?
But here's two bugs
- even though you seem to imply that seconds are accepted, it doesn't seem to update per-second
- when installing, add Selectability=1 to make sure users can navigate to the item with the d-pad/arrows and use the OK/enter button to 'tap' it so they can enter the date/time/alarm/etc. controls

Yep, check the attachment, it should read "TodayTimeCab_0.1.0.1.zip"
(é bom ver tugas por aqui também!)
Good work! New Battery at TitleBar is really annoying...
A few suggestions, if it is not asking too much
- Internet Time should be inserted with proper syntax configuration (for instance 'i, HH:MM' or '@, HH:MM'). This way user could choose to have it or not.
- Font size configuration would be also very welcomed. I use Today font size at the minimum, but for TodayTime I'd like to see it larger.
- When Today screen displays a lot of items and the left scrollbar gets displayed, it overlaps left part of time string
I was able to overcome this inserting a few sapces at end of time format string. However it would be nice to have it always right justified.
(Há Tugas por todo o lado )
In order to speed-up confgurations after Hard Resets... I'm installing 'TodayTime' among several other apps, from ExtROM and customize settings via a cab file at ExtROM also.
It happens that 'date' and 'time' format strings are stored into registry, at keys with very unusual names (see bellow).
In fact they include special characters like horizontal TAB (HT) and Vertical TAB (VT), where spaces seem to be.
...it must be something automatically generated...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\TodayTime]
"RightFormat TodayTime(Software\\Microsoft\\Today\\Items\\TodayTime"="HH:mm "
"LeftFormatRightFormat TodayTime(Software\\Microsoft\\Today\\Items\\TodayTime"="yyyy MMM dd, ddd"
This causes a lot of problems to loaders (specially the VT), and in fact didn't find a solution yet.
Can't you use more "regular" registry key names!?
e.g.
"RightFormat"
"LeftFormat"
might be good to move the topic of the TodayTime today item to a new thread, and get this thread back on topic: removing the battery icon from the taskbar in AKU2 roms.

I was able to get the TestUIPlugin to work and update in realtime. I used mortscript to get values from "weather watcher mobile", which is free. Currently, you run the script, it loads weather watcher, copies over the forecast data, updates the registry entries for testuiplugin, updates the plugin, and closes weather watcher in the background. It's not very elegant right now, because it uses mortscript. Maybe someone can write a standalone exe based on my work.
Here's what it looks like right now. Any ideas to improve the layout ?

Hey OrganicM, It looks sick but if i could suggest something, then it would be the title, instead of making the "temperature" the title, why not make it My Weather or something along those lines and underneath it - you could make a line for the temperature, upto u - otherwise it looks amazing - Keep up the good work and post a .cab when ur done
Good Luck !
I know, that's what I wanted to do initially, but this damn TestUIPlugin, will NOT let me do two lines of text!! Only thing I could do, is append the current temperature at the end of the forecast blurb... But it wouldn't really make it stand out.

About implementing it to any panels, slim or not...
Hi OrganicM!
Nice job you done with this app.
I took a look at your cab _setup.xml and I was wondering what needs to be changed to the Chome_320x240.cpr for the app to work, since I prefer my chubby panels and its icons and overall layout (just a matter of taste, you know).
Perhaps you could post a little step by step guide for the ones like me who want to implement it by hand, with the needed files in a single compressed file (zip, rar, your choice really, I've already got them from the cab ).
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.

If I'm not mistaken, I thought he intended to post the .cab for the "chubby panels" soon anyway. I am on the same page with you, Cassiano. Is anyone else have trouble updating the city? I'm trying to get Seattle on here, but it won't find it by name, and if using the zip is keeps showing sunny Las Vagas... That sucks, mainly 'cause it nice there and not here... Thanks.
This thing is awesome. Just what I needed. However, is there a way to remove the photo and media pannel? I tried to edit the XML file but it doesn't change. Any ideas?
Thanks..
Just set the plugins as "disabled" right in the registry.
Updated first post again, this time I added a "last updated" time in the top right corner. This gets updated everytime the weather script runs, so you have an idea how recent the info is.
Alright...for some reason it won't allow my city to be displayed when setting up Weather Watcher. It'll take me to a blank IE screen. I made the change to my city in 'Options', like instructed. Then tried to open 'Update Weather'. It would take me back to the blank IE screen. On the homescreen--the weather sliding panel is blank and just has a sun in it. Is there something I'm not doing?

[THEME] Blackberry Storm for WAD2 by Mallman

First of all special thanks to the guys at Lakeridge Software forums for getting all the icons rounded up and laying the foundation for this. Also, this isn't an exact mock up because I personally think the storm clutters too many screens with the same icons over and over. If you want to change it then have at it
and yes, it "clicks"

not tried it (don't actually get my THD till next week) but the screenies look really classy - i'll be trying this - nice job.

MALLMAN, loving the theme, like i mentioned over on swampthing. Since there is not alot of commenting on your forum, I decided to ask this here. If you're looking for he phone one then I have bad news There isnt one int he pack. i have tons of icons for this. Here are the ones I made so you can use them and link it in.
I have ported these in like you and I talked about, i also changed the weather icon to be much more attractive. Attached those too if youre interested. I have also added a couple of notifiers for missed calls (it is positioned the phone button on a transparent icon and an appointment notifier positioned behind the calendar icon. Finally, I have cleared out the calendar icon on the front so it always displays the current day of the month.
ANd yeah, there will never be conversation on swampthing like there is here lol. I couldn't afford the bandwidth if there were.
I have updated this by making a phone icon and updating the weather icon as well as tweaking the weather page a little.
Hi Mallman
i have installed into my HTC HD your "HTC Mallmans_15_Tab_Windows_Icons" and now when I start the system exit a lot of pop-up with "Failed to load skin".
I don't use TouchFlow3d, I use simply Today with many plugin.

It looks very nice but requires paypal to download the theme!

battery only shows in 10% increments?

hey, first of all i must say im absolutely in love with the tp2, its certainly the best phone ive ever used and a world of difference compared to my kaiser. The screen is beautiful, pictures and videos look superb, audio quality is fantastic and tflo is incredibly smooth and responsive. The keyboard is phenomenal and a joy to type on.
Ive only got one small problem, my battery meter only seems to show the level in 10% increments from stock. This is a little annoying. Im now using brians taskbar skin which works perfectly (and looks awesome) but the problem of only showing in 10% is quite annoying.
Is this common with the phone? Anyway to display in 1%'s
MOD EDIT: This is now fixed: see this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=527006
here is a cab file here on XDA which enables windows mobile to show the battery status per 1%.
It should work on all WM 6.x versions. Do a search (I think its in the hacking & development forum) and you'll find it.
thats great
havign a bit of trouble finding it though (i think it might be my phrasing) but do you remember what it might be called? the only one ive found that might be it is Numbattery. unfortunately cant check until later.
I found this one but is it just for SE X1 or any WM 6.1 device?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=514647
I think he might be referring to nuePower. I would back up the system before installing though. I've had issues where, after installing it, the device refused to charge. After restoring a backup, it was fine.
any solution???
I have tried the no2chem 6800 cab file and that did not work. Just gave zero percent battery level all the time.
Ok,
What is it we are trying to do here, is it change the Battery level in the Top Icons to 1% increments or the actual Powerbars in Settings - Power?
If its the top bars I can create any that you like and have them posted on here as either a cab file or dll

I suspect the original poster ideally would like power to show in 1% increments wherever it is displayed. If that is not possible, it would seem to me the power meter on the task bar would be most useful.

Can't say for the OP but I would certainly like battery reporting programms/addons such as Batti and Devstate to report the level down to 1% steps as supposed to 10% increments as is the case at the moment. On the Touch HD it was 1% but on the TP2 it is 10%. If you could manage that, it would be grand.
Ok, leave it with me, I'll get some done tonight with %ages on them. I'll probably use Misfortunes "Wheel" as the graphics and do the scale to 1-100, I'll post as a cab which does the reg edit too.

I might be misunderstanding, but I don't think new graphics will do the trick. I believe the device itself only reports battery level in 10% increments, so new graphics will still drop and rise by 10% at a time.

Not in the task bar they wont. The phcanoverbmp.dll (think thats the name of the top of my head) holds various images in ( this is for top bar icons) and there is a reg edit to tell WM to use 1-101 icons rather than 1-11. It will work for TopIcons, might also have a knock on effect for other programs, only trying will tell.

What is the registry edit? I could try it out right now. I'm trying to wrap my limited brain around why this will work. Your solutions suggests that there is a registry tweak to show 100 icons instead of 10 (roughly). But if the device actually only reports battery percent in 10% segments, then I don't see how this will work. It will still only show the icon associated with what the device actually reports.

If you do the reg edit without the icons available then your TopBar Icon won't work as it is now. You need both together to be able to use it. I'll get all posted tonight so you have it.
Just to clarify, I am talking about the TopBar Icons, they will show 1-101 images. I don't know if this will have a positive effect on other areas. (I know it wont have a negative effect!)

Official Bug Report List for XDA2010 Style (Forum Redesign)

The XDA 2010 theme is in Open Beta.
Use this thread to report bugs in the new forum style. Screenshots are helpful! Also, be sure to tell us what browser and version you are using!
Please DO NOT report:
- Bugs in IE6 or IE7. We are aware of several issues in IE7 and are working to fix these. IE6 users will need to continue using the old template or upgrade.
- Bugs related to the fact that long thread titles sometimes overlap other elements on the page.
We are working to fix the above ASAP.
Thanks everyone!
MOD EDIT: tnyynt: You can read a detaled tutorial called Where Is Everything In The New Forum Style?
Not a bug but rather an unncessary feature: Make the font in signatures (currently Trebuchet MS) the same as the posts (Verdana), else it looks a bit strange.
Great work!, 2010 skin looks great
- When going to write a PM, when entering member´s name, on old style soon as I started to type member name it displayed a list with possible matches, that feature is no longer present on 2010 style.
- Using Opera 10.53.
- There is a squared empty space (I know fir publicity) on the left side of Accesories, Marketplace, Networking and Off topic section, that is not looking good.
- IN general 2010 style loads a bit slower than old skin

The font/size displaying (in Firefox) is different for a post that quotes another post, than for a post with no quoting. There's something odd going on there, because quoted posts use the same font/size as a regular post (used to be in italics in the old style). When you quote a post the quote is in the normal sort of font, but then your own reply is smaller, which looks strange.
Edit - just checked, and there's the same "issue" using IE 8 and Chrome.
The "you last visited" and "Private Messages" text at the top right aren't always right-aligned which seems to depend on how long the navigation text is.
"HTC Hero: G2 Touch > Hero, G2 Touch Android Development"
is one example.
Using Firefox 3.6.3 on Ubuntu Lucid.

I find this too.
When resizing the browser window (Chrome beta channel), the PM link and forum journey thing merge and the formatting goes weird. I think this is the same bug as above.
I don't find a bug; their is on thing; thats the fact I find that you see not clearly the different background color between a earlier post and your reply to it!
thats the only thing I can mention fore it! Not that I don't see the other different now thy are good! just the fact of the different color to a replay is not well visible! thats all!
sorry fore my English!

Do you mean when quoting posts (like this)?
I can't say it really bothers me... Maybe my screen contrast is higher than yours?
I would like to see some differentiation in colour between stickied and non-stickied threads, though.
Edit: And I know these aren't really bugs, but the 'poll' icon needs updating/enlarging to match the others
Another thing I found, and it's probably vBulletin rather than the redesign, but if you enable pop-ups for PMs and click to open them in a new window, nothing happens in Chrome.
Nice work, indeed , i really like the new style
No bug found but just a suggestion, a more darkness colour between unreaded and readed threads.

Not a problem in Chrome. Can other Opera 10.xx users please test?
This is empty because of your ad-blocker. As per the announcement this is intentional. http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=263
Again, this is known and mentioned in the announcement.
I'm going to add the announcement to the first post of this thread.

Thanks Dave,
Hope another Opera users can give heads up on this.
Thank God my add-blocker works good then
Will test more in compact view, and if not convinced perhaps going back to original style...

This seems to be working worse than before. Although svetius has asked not to report issues with it, so I guess they already know about it.

1. The colours seem fine all on 3 screens I've tested on. Maybe a screen shot of the exact bit that you are having the problem with.
2. A new poll icon is probably needed.
3. I think this is a Chrome thing, did it work in the old design in Chrome?

Unread are emboldened and read are not. Just like with the old theme. Forums with unread posts have a Dark > icon, where as read ones have a White > icon.

I use the full style and can ignore it. Although I don't look at the index for very long. I jump forums using the "find your device" now that it's on every page.
Sorry i didnt notice that icons..thanks for clarification Dave.

I also am finding little to no difference between the quoted parts of messages.
it is probably a contrast issue.
on my laptop with nvidia gts 360M, If i crank all the settings down, I can finally see a color difference between the quoted text. (but then my entire system looks horrible)
my 19" acer lcd on PC with generic intel graphics also looks the same. (bad)
I am using firefox 3.6.3 on Ubuntu for both laptop and computer.
although I have contrast issues with Yahoo mail as well
so I am sure it is my setup.

Looks like there might be some merit in changing the BG colour of the quoted text.
IIRC, the original BG colour was too light and blinding the private beta testers. So the admin's made it darker, I'm guessing that the Quoted BG colour wasn't darkened, leading to the lack of contrast between the two.
Dave
aside from the contrast issue,
I love the new design.
Infact I have been using it for a few days now.
I didn't even know it was NEW. I just found it and thought....How did I miss this cool feature....LOL

Agreed. I am using a calibrated panel here, and there is minimal difference between the quoted and normal text colour.
Also, a subjective one, as I really like the theme otherwise, but it seems to be a bit 'plain'. I actually find myself losing attention to threads and doing other stuff with this theme a bit more than before.
I guess I amn't finding it as readable as before, but I can't quantify it really.
Also, is there a possibility of taking the final theme, and cloning it, but popping a 320px width restriction on it, making a mobile version? That would be a nice thing, although the pages take a bit longer than before to render on webkit 3.1 browser.
P
I have the same contrast issue. There really is very little difference on my own screen between the background of the quoted text and the other text.

Made a tweak on this to darken up the quoted parts. Better?
We really appreciate all the comments, and we'll get to these things one by one.
Also, huge thanks to Dave for all his help.
By the way: if everyone really hates the new square ad on the home page, we can make it invisible for members. As per the announcement, the last thing we want to do is annoy all of you guys.
