Hey guys,
I've been using this forum for quite a while, and have always been able to find answers for my questions here (which is why I have never posted), until now.
I have a Touch Pro 2 that is T-Mobile branded, but unlocked, and being used on AT&T. I have the phone exactly the way I want it, but I am having a very annoying SMS problem.
When I receive a new message, I open it up and reply, but the original message is never marked as read. A whole conversation can take place, and when I close it, it will say I have a ton of unread messages, even though they were all read. The only way to mark them as read is to either select each individual message with the keyboard, or delete the whole conversation.
Is there any way to fix this so they are automatically marked as read like my Kaiser did? The Kaiser always marked them as read when I closed the conversation or replied. The TP2 won't...
This is very annoying. PLEASE HELP!
Try the file attached, the was a problem that stemmed from the fuze. Good luck

Thank you for our reply. I tried as you said, but unfortunately it didn't work... I have searched this, and other forums, and have found people with the same problem, but no solution anywhere as far as I can tell.
Any other ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Same problem here, has the app fixed this for anyone?

Try a soft reset. I do know in the fuze this was a problem, I havent had this issue with my TP2 (aka Tilt from ATT running the EU stock rom). But normally if you hit menu then reply, it should automatically check it as read, now sometimes thru the WinMO sms app when your in the conversation has a tendency of kepping the persons sms in bold and when you exit it wont detect it as read, the only solution I found which became a habit was to tap the bold convo which then made it read.
But that cab I attached try a soft reset, it did cure alot of my problems of unread msgs building up.
First of all, I can't say how much I LOVE the 'Similar Threads we found' popup when posting a new thread title. Brilliant.
My problem is not unique to this forum. I've wanted to respond to a thread or post a new one, worked at it for a while, clicked on either 'preview' or 'post,' and lost a good chunk of time's work when the server logged me off and didn't let me page back to save my text. Everytime it happens I swear I'm going to get some kind of keystroke saver, that I'll NEVER let it happen again, yet it does.
I don't know if there's an easy fix, but just being able to save that text would save a lot of screaming (I can't be the only one this has happened to). Many thanks on an excellent forum!

This probably happens to all of us from time to time. Of course it's most likely to happen if it takes you a long time to write your post. You likely then suffer from a timeout for apparent inactivity and get logged out.
The golden rule is, whenever you are making a longish post ALWAYS copy it into your PC memory BEFORE clicking send/post etc., as a precaution in case you have been logged out. You cannot rely on going back a page and hoping the text is still there. You should always copy into memory at any time the server appears slow as well, due to the fact it may not be able to process the post at the time you press send.

when you sign in do you click that little box that says something about staying logged in?
When on secure computers I run, I tick to stay logged in. It has not been an issue for me for a good while. If you take over an hour it might complain...
But just hit ctrl+C before posting
Also, chrome seems good at letting me hit back and still have my post
OK guys, before I rant at Google, does anyone else's phone do this?
I tap the little mic icon on the keyboard and speak. It gets the first three or four words, but every word after that is just a name from my contacts.
If I switch it to US English it works fine but I have to talk with an American accent to get it to recognise my speech.
I've reported it Here. Please star it if you want Google to resolve the issue.

Just tried the phrase
Testing speech to text to see if it works.
First time major fail .... including throwing a contact name in
Second attempt with tv on mute and it worked perfectly.
Im an ex southerner so dont have much accent
Mine is set to English UK and I don't even know some of the words it thinks I am saying.
Don't even think it is english
you guys just have to learn the correct way to speak English

Try more than a few words as it only seems to glitch badly after the first sentence. Try talking to it like Duarte does and mine just chucks out a list of assorted forenames and surnames.
Annoying as I could talk to the old version like I was having a conversation.
I've reported it Here. Please start it if you want Google to resolve the issue.
Yeah absolutely, after more than a few words it seems to massively prioritise contact entries.
For example, "It's so cool" became "Richard Poole", which although a similar sound at the end (and a compliment for Mr. Poole) didn't seme remotely connected. And every word after were combinations of contact names. I find I have to keep doing short sentences/sentence fragments at a time, which appears to ruin the point of speech-to-text.
Luckily I'm not a big fan of talking at my phone. Hence Siri not being a selling point on the 4S for me.
It's a bit hit or miss but I'm not getting any contact names appearing.

I'm finding my galaxy nexus much worse at recognising my voice than my HD2 running gingerbread was. I'd say with that I got about a 95% accuracy rate vs the Galaxy Nexus getting maybe 50% if that.

I'm having no issues with the voice recognition at all. No contact names coming up, even after several sentences. I think it's more accurate too (for my voice, anyway), though it still gets it wrong sometimes!
Being able to dictate punctuation is very cool.
I had a little try with the speech to text and it was pretty poor. I hadn't put my contacts in yet but I was on wifi. It got most of the words wrong and lagged quite a lot. I'll test it a bit more extensively once I get my replacement phone
My Galaxy S was far better at recognising my accent.
Can someone else test this, I think it is a bug..
click voice button and say 'text [someones name on your contact list]'
When the screen pops up to enter a text message there is no way of inputting any text.
Ive had no problems with lagging it works ok for me when using for google search for the odd couple of words, but trying to dictate a sentence i've never got 100% accuracy.
I'm from saaarf laaandun no one has a clue what I say most of the time
So talk to text has no chance

for me some times its excellent and sometimes its useless and i get loads of contacts names that sound nothing like what i have said like some of you.
If there is any background noise at all i usually find it doesnt know what im saying. Some words for me it just wont pick up no matter how many times i try... the one that comes to mind is 'sure' it always comes up with 'so' lol.
Does the speech to text feature require WiFi or a data conection to work? I don't have the Nexus yet.
Didn't want to open a new thread so I asked here.

It does on mine?
I'm also finding it works perfectly so far, even a long text message came out without any issues
i just tested this with 3 or 4 rather long sentences. I have a pretty weird accent (mix of Southern, central and northern regional English) and it never once matched anything i said to a contact.
it messed a few words up (understandably), but i'm not experiencing this particular bug.
Just installed 4.2.2 on my VZW GNex, using a stock, rooted rom.
Now the feature where I could say "Text Bill - Hi I'll be there soon" and it would generate a text message is not working. It correctly translates the text but just does a google search.
Am I missing something or a setting ?
Your help is much appreciated.
How are you attempting to do this so I can try and do it myself? I dont ever start texts that way.
EDIT: Actually, i think its part of Google Now.
Thanks.
Press and hold the mic button so it comes up (from the regular google now) and say
Send Text to xxxxxxxx Please call me back
It should generate a text message.

You tried it in Google Now right? Or from your homescreen, if you have the search bar enabled at the top, tap the mic and start speaking. You said tap and hold the mic botton. I dont know what button that is and I wouldnt think to tap and hold it.
Yes that is how I use it. I have found others having the same problem, many others not.

Hmm. Maybe it has something to do with some settings somewhere. Maybe some kind of sync option that allows it to know your contacts. In all of my google settings for all of my apps, I give Google access to everything. I'm not worried about them stealing my info. lol. So maybe its some odd setting you need to change.
I am open with Google also.
and guess what, all of a sudden it's working.
I wonder if there was a google hiccup sometime or other.
Who knows.
Works perfect for me though. Even I had a problem last night. Apparently it's fixed.
Did anyone notice that captcha is not showing?

Strange, it works for me on both mobile chrome and desktop version.
Sent From My Fingers To Your Face......
Yup, works on my side too.
But I've noticed the captcha image got breaking before, but strangely it seems to work after sometime. So not sure about its random behavior.
EDIT: After a few refresh of that page, the captcha image broke. And not getting fixed after opening the page again.
I can confirm the captcha image is broken. I'll flag this to the server admin.
This should be fixed, let me know if it still isn't working for anyone.

Good to know there is a workaround, should help temporarily until the true issue can be resolved.
Or at least help those who read this or try it anyway. :good:
