Hi all,
I wanted to order the TomTom wireless (BT) 2 days ago and since it was meant to be used with QTek 9090 I was (by a big reseller, web shop in The Netherlands) told better to wait till end of January.
TomTom will release a new package (including Bluetooth version) of their software within 3 weeks. This package is fully QTek 9090 compliant meaning the car holder is adjusted for use with QTek 9090 (a so-called "TomTom QTek Navigation Pack" and "TomTom Navigator 3 Bluetooth"), contains a cable to charge the battery while driving, GPS receiver (Wired/Wirless), Software.....

Hi Avareh,
Any news about the above release from your source? I checked with TomTom yesterday to see when/if a Qtek 9090 kit would be released (versus purchasing the, rather ugly looking, universal kit) and got the following reply:
"... The TomTom XDA model 2 car holder will work. We have no current plans at present to make a dedicated car kit for this model.
We hope to have answered your question to your satisfaction.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team"
Not the answer I was hoping for. Which carkit would be a good alternative?
www.brodit.com looks good but the many choices are confusing. What would be the 'ideal' brodit for a Qtek 9090 in combination with a TTN3 Bluetooth set-up?
brodit holders
I am using this holder with a 9090 connected to a TomTom GPS through cable. It will work very nicely with most cables for 12V charging as well:

For GPS-cable, or sync-/data-/charging-cable.

If you are thinking of running the 9090 without any cables whatsoever I would recommend the passive holder:

Hi Argeles,
I heard also the same from TomTom support team when I called them a few days ago. When I again called my dealer to verify what they had promised, he told me :
The release of TomTom active holder meant for Qtek 9090 has been delayed.
That the local distributor in The Netherlands had told him TomTom support team was telling nonsense.
The distributor claimed that the TomTom passive car holder is being tested right now and that's the reason why the release of active holder being postponed for a few weeks.
Anyway, here in NL is the Broadit Active holder also the one being offered by many dealers. The only problem with this one is the fact you can't use such active ones with your Qtek 9090 when you use a PDA case (like Piel Frama). This means that you have to take the device out of the case each time you wanna put it into your car holder. The 'ugly' universal holder like HR Richter has no such problem. The only disadvantage of such holder is that you have to order a 2-in-1 cable for charging the Qtek 9090 and your Bluetooth GPS receiver.
I wonder if there is any active holder by which you can also use the leather case at the same time.
kind regards,
- Avareh ([email protected])
Hi Avareh,
Many thanks for the info. To wait or not to wait that is the question. Are you also still waiting?BTW The HR Richter looks identical to the TomTom universal holder. When I finally do get TTN3 BT + Qtek9090 I'll need a fast 1GB memory card for the TomTom maps of Europe, but that's another problem (here also a choice not as straight forward as one would first think, judging by the memory card discussions on this site).
Best Regards,
Argeles/Robbert
Herbert Richter manufacture the TomTom cradles as well as cradles for many other manufacturers. Brodit mounts are superb, I have three in car although I use Carcomm's XDA cradle with my XDAII, see here.
Hi again,
This is what I meant with hearing nonsense after calling support team of TomTom in The Netherlands.
looking at their site there is no sign of any QTek 9090 compatible car kit at http://www.tomtom.com/products/compatibility.php?ID=9&Language=1
However, looking at this URL it seems that still there is a TomTom car mounting kit for Qtek 9090: http://www.pdamods.com/proddetail.asp?prod=A11XDA2SMNT&cat=23
kind regards,
- Avareh ([email protected])
Whilst the QTek 9090 Carkit on the PDA Mods site does appear to be identical to TomTom's Carkit range it does not mean that is an officially sanctioned TomTom carkit hence why you can't find it on TomTom's site.
Looking at it, it is almost certainly manufactured by HR though so should be a good 'un.
Well, I strongly doubt it Darren. It looks exactly the same as other TomTom car kits, has exactly the same detailed snapshots (which you also can find on official web site of TomTom) regarding extended power & GPS connection and the descriptive text begins with " The TomTom Car Kit allows you ...".
The only thing I hear here in NL is the fact the few products (sometimes) are introduced earlier in one country than others. That's probably the reason why you can't find any official announcement in the European web site of TomTom.
kind regards,
- Avareh ([email protected])

Well, I ordered the PDAMODS.com XDA 11s car kit on Thursday and it arrived the next day so 10/10 for service.
I already had a car mounting kit from TomTom for my iPaq 4150. Parts from that kit ie some cables and mounts are interchangeable with the XDA 11s kit from PDAMODS.com. The PDAMODS base mount has a very high flexible stalk to move around and position the XDA which i didn't like at all so i used the mount from the iPaq which does not have any stalk and found that the mounting slots on the back of that fit perfectly into the XDA mounting bracket. Looks much much better. There was no power cable supplied for linking the XDA mount to the TomTom Bluetooth SatNav receiver which is annoying and dissapointing. I had to use the cable that was in the iPaq car kit and it fitted perfectly into the XDA holder. The car cigarette power cable with the XDA is OK but is very very short.
Overall, the PDAMODS.com kit is clearly not a genuine TomTom part. The quality of the plastic and other materials are not as good as a genuine TomTom car kit. To get the perfect results I had to mix and match parts from both kits. If you do order the PDAMODS kit it will work perfectly well with your XDA but you might end up wishing you had waited for the official TomTom car kit.
I have 3 sets of accessories for sale.
2 brand new USB docking cradles, 2 brand new chargers and DC jack - XDA adapters
1 of each of the above in slightly used condition (perfect except the DC to XDA adapter had a crack in the plastic bar behind the pins, still works fine but will pull out of the xda socket more easily than normal)
3 Brand new black (leather?) carry cases embossed with the O2 logo.
2 brand new stereo handsfree kits (wired).
4 brand new styli as supplied by O2 (black ended)
1 1GB SanDisk SD card (would consider swap for a similar capacity 512mb/1gb mini SD card)
______________________________________________________
Any offers for any or all of the above will be received gladly, trying to recoup some money after a long winded battle with O2 regarding a fault, and need the money to buy accessories for new phone.
email me or add me on msn if u want to contact me
I'm interested in buying the charger and stilus. Can you send this itens to Brazil?
sorry about the delay been having email trouble, if your still interested, yes i can but of course you'll have to pay the postage cost. It may be cheaper and easier for you to find a website to buy one from, located in or nearer your country.
Just waiting for my TyTN to arrive in another week, and then I should be free and clear to send this rig on its way to a happy new owner...
It's an unlocked, Cingular-branded, Siemens SX66. The phone is in perfect working order. It is running the latest legal roms from the SX66 Standardization Project (WM2003). If you want to put WM5 on it after you buy it, that's up to you...
It has some VERY MINOR wear-and-tear type marks which come from being my primary device for so long.
Also included are two standard BA batteries (1490 mAh) and two standard cradles. Finally, I'll throw in a Boxwave mini-sync cable and a SanDisk 1 GB SD card to round out the kit.
Payments would be via PayPal. By default, shipping will be by 3-day UPS Ground in the US. If the buyer would prefer personal exchange, I'm in the Boston area.
If interested drop me a PM...
My TyTN has arrived... I'm fully migrated and ready to ship.
Just for clarity sake, here's an update list of everything in the kit:
- Siemens SX66 main unit
- Stock Stylus (2)
- Stock battery (2)
- Stock cradle and power supply (2)
- Stock carrying case
- Stock dongle connector
- Sandisk 1GB SD card
- Boxwave mini-USB sync cable
There's got to be some reader of this forum that could use a device in very good shape!
Just let me know (I'd rather sell it here and give a reader a good deal than slugging it out on eBay).
how about 220 shipped. haha iono why im buying another one since i also have 2 of the sx66 and 1 xda iis

Things are almost perfect. I'm in love with my Orbit. I've downloaded TomTom 6 to it and works great. I've also discovered that on the back of the phone, not only is there a socket for an external GPS but on the other side there is socket for I assume an external car aerial I have been using the Take n Talk car kit from THB with their modular cradles for some time now. Having an external aerial and a fully wired car kit is ace. Now all I want is the cradle for the Orbit for perfection!! If you haven't used a proper car kit you should check out the THB range. If like me you use a THB kit now please please please lobby them to produce the take and talk cradle for the Artemis, orbit HTC3300 etc. The contact page is: http://www.bury.com/technologies/GB/company/2/contact
and the main site is: http://www.bury.com/technologies/GB Don't forget in the UK fines will increase if you're not using a handfree car kit!!
Well, I got the above installed and had some questions,
1. How did you connect using the external aerial?
2. The camera button always comes on when I put the phone on the cradle. What a pain.
3. The cradle does not have any support at the base - phone would fall off when brakes are applied.
Did anyone else had this problem. I am using the Take and talk BT cradle with this car kit?
Thanks.
I also used THB for my previous phones . I had the same car kit in both our cars so we could swop cradles and when I upgraded my phone I simply bought a new cradle. I spoke several times to THB and theywill not produce the cradles for P3300 or P3600!...shame!
I have found a better solution I have a blue tooth car kit with its own sim card & aerial and I can couple up to 4 different bluetooth phones!......this way I now carry 2 phones in the car!
here is the web address the model I have is Audio com
