Hello I have the JasJar and am getting tired of holding it to my face. SO my question is what is the overall best headset for the Imat JasJar. Price is not an issue
http://www.itechdynamic.com/en/products_spec.asp?cid=2&pid=02030
I have been using its predessor called ClipS and have no complaints to make. Its simple items like this that puts the Ipod in its inferior place. Yes, my Universal is my mobile media player as well.... my External USB disk too ..... my scrapbook notepad ..... my GPS navigator .... oh .... forgot to mention the all important fact that its my phone as well
Edit: I do have 1 complaint. A car charger for the headset does not exist.

If price is not an issue, than it should be nothing but Jawbone:

Yes, but beware of the counterfeits from Hong Kong.
Also, it is not a stereo BT for listening to music, but excellent for making phone calls.
Tekkeon EzTalker Digital
The Tekkeon EzTalker Digital ET3000 is the best I have come across. It has a screen and Caller ID so that you dont even need to open the JasJar to know who is calling. Also at USD 80 it is pretty cheap. But one thing is that you have to install Jetware Mobile so that Caller ID names display.

Hmm .... why not allow Voice Command to announce who is calling you?
The Best by far
I have tried numerous ones including: Bluetrek, Plantronics, Sony Ericsson and a couple of jabra models -BT800, 125 etc(Which all worked), but my fav one is the Jabra JX10. Superiour sound and DSP for louder volume as the ambient noise levels gets louder.
gopi51,
Want to ask you more about the Tekkeon ezTalker Digital (ET3000) on how the storing phone number works.
- Does it store both incoming and outgoing numbers?
- Does it store both the name and the number?
Can it access the PPC Contacts?
Thanks.
Jabra bt8010
like a previous responder I have tried my fair share of headsets: for sheer all-day comfort Jabra500 fits comfortably around the ear and will stay put under some extreme circumstances, its not stereo. Functionality the Jabra 800 and with the Jetware software you get caller id and name but to me its not comfortable I looked at the Jawbone watched the video and actually tried it out, and DAMN it actually works like they say it cancels noise, but it looks kinda goofy, not in a bad way but it BIG. Then I got the Jabra 8010 its sleek no flashing lights just function; caller id number(anyone know if Jetware is compatible with this)can handle two phones ie. you can pair two phones with it and answer both(not at the same time) call 1 comes in on phone A you answer it talk and then hang up and then call 2 comes in on phone B you can pick it up and do the same thing. You can also add frequently called numbers to it(believe 30) and call straight from it, OLED display, and stereo bluetooth with remote functions , haven't gotten around to playing with that just yet. Anyways thats my 2 cents. Enjoy

1) It stores only Incoming Phone numbers and the last re-dialled number
2) Stores only the number. However during Incoming call both the number and the name as stored in the Phone Contacts is shown one on each line with scrolling if its too big to fit.
3) Yes phone can access PPC contacts. However since display is small and it goes through lots of numbers it is not a very convienent feature.
jawbone for me! im streaming mp3's to it fine.. not stereo but good enough for me..

Thanks gopi51 for answering my questions.
I think I have more question if you do not mind,
Does it access the Contacts (Outlook) or the SIM Address book when you press the "down" button?
If it does access the Outlook Contacts, does it only give you the default number (ie mobile, home, office as its being set in Contacts) or it also list down all of them as separate entries like:
Fred mobile
Fred office
Fred etc..
Thanks again!

stock eargel did not fit well..kinda modded mine and am using jabra minigel now. its more comfortable, plus just today, i just figured out how exactly i should position the eargel. now, im using the jawbone without the earhook.
Jawbone vs. Jabra X10
Jawbone weighs about double, so my ears are fine!
Hey hey,
Bought the Jawbone. Wow, realy nice bit of kit.
Works real well so far.

Where to buy Jawbone in EU?
I tried to find an online shop in Europe, which sells this Jawbone headset, but had no luck.
I read, it should be available at UK Carphone warehouse, but I can not find it on their website.

I have the BT800 and so far my experience with it is pretty negative.
Other than the fact that it just doesn't sit will on my ear, all the people that I have phone conversations with tell me that my voice keeps cutting off every couple of seconds. They have a hard time understanding what I'm saying.
Anybody else have this behaviour? Which BT headset do you guys recommend?
I am also looking for recommendations for a new BT headset, but let me also contribute with what I had (lost it now).
I had the Bluespoon AX. It was by far the most comfortable thing I have ever put in my ear. It is so small and light and comfortable, that you almost forget it is in there, and at the end of the day, you find it in your ear by accident sometimes.
That said, when I lost it I did not shed a tear. Using it with Universal was quite painful. The sound would crackle if the AX and the Universal were on different sides of my body. Not a distance issue, but somehow an interference from my body in between.
The AX is useless in any environment there is noise and/or wind. I suppose they could not use a directional mic because the mic is so far away from your mouth (practically *in* your ear). It worked fine when I was sitting in a quiet place though, but then...
With the Universal, only the handsfree profile is available. While this worked fine for outgoing calls (can make voice dial calls and all), for some reason on incoming calls, when the AX is active, Universal would not ring. The only call indicator is on the AX and if you don't happen to be wearing it at the time, you will miss the call.
I have been reading up on other models. The AX2 apparently has better reception, but I am not sure about noise and the BT software problems.
The digital model has noise cancelling, but it is way too expensive to buy it on faith alone.

Same problem with my Motorola H500... anyone any ideas how to avoid this apart from buying another model
I have HBH 662 (Sony Erricson). Its very tiny, formerly it did not fit easily in my ear, but now I used to it, though I do not like to have it on all day long. The sound quality is too low/not loud enough though I set to the highest volume already. The battery life is not good, it barely survives my every day calls, I'm not a super call person, just average.
Things that really annoying:
- The Caller ID display is too small to read and it only shows the first half of the caller's number then scroll the remaining digits.
IT DOES NOT show the caller's name. Have been patiently enough to wait for this to be fixed by MS/imate/other vendor whatsoever. If anybody has a workaround, PLS.. PLS... PLS... share....
- The ringer is very low and intended to tell you there is a call if you have it on your ear. Does not have a vibrate function. If the Universal is in silent mode, most likely I cannot tell when there is an incoming call.

Bt Headsets
I am using the Bluestreak G2 headset which seems to work O.K. and Has About 8 hours of use. Background noise is acceptable but it doesn't seem to do noise cancellation.
Have noticed that if WIFI is active with BT the headset drops out a little. Seems O.K. If Wifi is off & BT is on. Not ideal if you want to use Skype with BT.
Have tried the following with my Exec:
- Tekkeon ET3000 (with display like the BT800 but better), great battery life, good volume, okay quality sound, okay comfort, no problem with call transfers from the Exec
- SE HBH-608, fantastic battery life, very comfortable, good quality sound, very comfortable, okay volume (seems limted by the Exec)
- Jabra BT800, okay battery life, okay comfort, good sound quality, okay volume, seems a bit slow transferring calls between the headset and the Exec
Have you tried putting the names/numbers also on the SIM Card?! I read somewhere that headset profile is using the SIM Card's phonebook...

No, it does not work either, even though the contact name is saved in the SIM card. Have been searching for workaround/solution but have not found any good answer yet.
globalsat
I have the Globalsat gps338 ,and it works very well ,use with gpstuner ,and teletype gps software which is slow to update on the Mda pro but the bluetooth gps pair well with the program and with 9 satellites showing indoor .Any Sirf III chipset will be ok.The only thing that does not work in the universal is the gpsinfo program that comes with the gps338.
Anyone with the gps338 ? works well with mapapolis too.

what, like carrying the phone on the same side of your body as the headset??
(Like it says to do in the instructions... )
Thx Riceburner!
figures! I've been checking the Jabra site for an update repeatedly but of course as luck will have it, as soon as I stopped looking...there it is.
I will update my BT800 tonight and see what happens. Tell me, did you have the same problems? Voice kept cutting off? All around bad performance from this headset?
thx.
motorola H700, great audio, great look, light and good batteries and......................same mini USB charger
Well...no improvements.
I updated the firmware on my Jabra BT800 and although I noticed an improvement in the time it takes to transfer the call to the headset, I still have the same problem with my voice cutting off.
I tested it repeatedly by making more than one phone call and the result was always the same. While I'm speaking, the person on the other end says that my voice keeps cutting off. Therefore beginning or end of words are totally cut off. Very frustrating to have a conversation when the person on the other end keeps saying "what?".
If nobody else is having this problem with the BT800 and the Universal, then I guess I got stuck with a faulty headset?
i have the hbh 662 sony. not impressed with it to be honest. unless i am less than 1/2 metre from it, the quality of the line deteriorates alarmingly. I was hoping to be able to stick it on the kitchen table and then walk around having a phone call. I can't do this.
Also had ideas for having the universal in my pocket, and using the headset almost as a standalone phone. This doesn't work that well either. tried the headset with a orange c500 , and it was so much better.
also upgraded to the latest radio update (1.04.02). this didnt do anything for the quality of the line either.
is it the universal or the sh1te ms bluetooth stack? how does the jabra bt 800 compare?
(i have the orange m5000 with a qtek rom)

Hi HeartofDarkness,
Thanks for your comments and please reply some more questions if you free.
-Phone Singal Indicator is correct or not?
-Is Incoming call Ring loud enoguh to hear if you put it in your shirt pocket?(With highest volume level)
-How is sound quality for listening MP3 songs?Good, acceptable, bad?
-Can it call to speed dial numbers?
Thanks in advance
Hi there
1 - There is no phone signal indicator; only an icon indicating whether you're online or the Tekkeon's connected. If it's signal strength you're looking for, it is not displayed on the headset screen;
2 - Hummm... In a silent environment, I'd say yes, probably, although you should know that I have pretty sharp hearing. I don't think it could be heard if it where in a jeans pocket, for instance, with the earpiece on the leg-side. But with the Tekkeon, it's not really a problem, because it is *extremely* comfy, and you can keep it on your ear and (litteraly) forget it's there after a while. The downside to this is that it's nearly impossible to run with it, for instance (I mean even to catch your bus or your train), because the ear-fit is pretty loose;
3 - Music quality is on par with other good non-stereo, non-AKU2 headsets, meaning: really bad. I'm talking about the kind of quality you hear when being put on wait when you call your bank, for instance. It's not because the headset's bad, nor because of the bluetooth connecion, it simply is a bandwidth problem. Hand-free mono-aural headsets are only designed to render frequencies in the human voice range, which is clearly too narrow for correct musical rendering;
4 - No, no speed-dial, only last dialed (through a short-cut, which is a good idea), and a list of the last received calls.
Overall sound quality - and I especially mean how well people on the other side of the line heard me - was (I say was because I don't have it anymore) quite good - on par with Sony-Ericsson and Jabra, which are IMHO references in that particular area - *except* in windy locations. And I mean that even a breeze caused my interlocutors to go "what ? what did'ya say ?" over and over again. That's where, IMHO, Tekkeon should have included even a little bit of DSP-based noise suppression.
I now have Jabra BT-800, and well, I'd be hard-put saying which I prefer. The Tekkeon was 10 times prettier, that's for sure. Connection indicator was a big plus with the Tekkeon too. I'd say the Jabra is better about sound quality in noisy places, but the fit is even looser, it's bulkier and although quite pretty, not nearly as pretty as the Tekkeon. The Tekkeon felt flimsier, especially the jack-type attachement between the ear-clip and the headset. Dunno how long that would have lasted before it became too loose and rendered the headset unusuable, my money is on "really not very long". Jabra's got more autonomy, and has a vibrator so that you can keep it in your pocket and still be sure to get all calls.
Hope this helps.
Hi HeartofDarkness,
Really thanks for your detailed explanations. It helps me a lot in thinking to buy which headset. Until now, there is no new headset with Screen Display is going to come out as far as I saw.
Thanks
Yeah, picking up *the* BT headset's quite a challenge.
Personnally, and having been through quite a few of them, I'd really like to see a cross between these three:
- Sony Ericsson HBH-608 for its DSP technology;
- Nokia BH-900 for its sliding mic. that comes almost all the way to the mouth, improving by the ten-fold the way my interlocutors hear me;
- Tekkeon ezTalker 3000 (which is the same as V3 you're interested in) for its OLED screen.
Or else, I'd really love to see Motorola come out with a version of their HT-820 head-phones that includes a screen. I don't know how they did it, but the mic. in these head-phones is really, really good, people can hear me loud & clear even in windy / noisy locations, and sound quality for music listening is actually quite good. Granted it's a bit bulky, but it's extremely well designed, so....
Hi heartofdarkness,
How long it takes to display the Caller ID after the call ring on the phone for V3 BTH8. Is it too long?
I am also looking at following stereo Bluetooth headsets. Has anyone experiences? Both are with small earphones unlike big headsets of most stereo. And they are with Caller ID display.
-SonyEricsson HBH DS970
-Nokia HS 12W(Also with FM radio, Stell Cover)
Display of the name is instantaneous: instead of a number, you get a name.
The two headset you show are pretty nice although I hate the fact that you can't change the ear-buds for better ones. In that respect, I'd definitly go myself for the Sony Ericsson rather than the Nokia, because the buds seem to be derived from the fairly good Sony EX-51. The Nokia buds just look like 5 $ earphones....
Can anyone tell me if this headset has a blinking blue LED when in standby or when talking on it?
I don't remember if it was actually blinking, but there is an icon that shows it is connected to your phone, on the screen, even when in stand-by mode.
Jabra BT 800 vs V3 BTH8
I would recommend the Jabra. I own both of these units. The Jabra has a much clearer sound. Callers used to complain about the cutouts and poor sound quality of the V3. The Jabra also has an inbuilt vibrator, which means that you get the call even in noisy environments. Used with the Jetware plug in you get caller ID showing the surname of the caller. You can't get the address book however. I think that this is a WM5 limitation.
The V3 however has several advantages. The LED readout is easier to read than the LCD of the Jabra. The V3 is also rock solid on your ear, and feels like it will never come loose. The Jabra feels like it will fall off in a strong wind or when you lean your head.
The V3 uses a membrane that fits into your ear which means it cuts out background noise, which is good and bad. The Jabra uses a louder signal but doesn't seal to the ear canal.
Incidentally, I get the ring tone in the headset about 2 second before the phone makes a peep.
Hi!
I have the v3 and I've been using it for almost 10 months now with my dopod900. I eventually got used to guessing the caller since it couldnt read from dopod. but i upgraded the rom and now it could read the address book.. but still no caller id.

whenever i answer yes to the " extension is not loaded... ?" My Plantronics 510 stop working with my jasjar . Can some body tell me how I can defeat this interruptions ? would sonyericsin HBH 810a helps ?

I know alot of you used the Sony DR-BT10NX but have ya seen the 20x model>? It combines the playback features along with the 11 hour play time!!! I was unable to order them form amazon uk to the USA but i remember a site called audio cubes where i used to get my sony MDR earbuds aloong time ago.. anyways...they have it and i just ordered a pair. they come in white or black. I just bought them for $117.90 USD . Check them out!! I think i am in heaven!!! I was torn between the SOny Ericsson DS970 and the DR-BT10NX which has only volume keys. Do i want playback time or audio controls? This one is both!!!!! Just a tip... buy them with an AMex card to get a 2 year warranty

alright......
i finally got my headphones...only used them a few minutes but so far they are awesome. they have a very good range,
they are decently loud (about the same as the Sony Ericson Ones) and the sound is very clear and they have alot of bass!!!!!
so far i am loving these headphones.
the call quality is pretty good considering the mic is in the middle of the main unit. i wouldnt recommend walking outside and using the mic while is on your chest. the wind is going to make it sound horrible. but if you lift it up it will sound good.
as far as the incoming audio for calls.it also sounds very good!
So far i noticed though i can only get the commands on the FF or Rewind/play stop to only work with the windows media player and not with the Core Media player. Also sometimes ive gotten the thing that the audio cuts off for a bit but i think its more of an issue with the pocket pc. it cuts alot even when i use headphones, depending on what is running in the background.
The main "unit" its pretty chunky. Its like the DR-BT20NX. The cable that goes around your neck is very strong and it has a side that snaps if the cord is pulled very hard(the right) and the left side has a piece that you can twist to open the cable like a necklace.
it also comes with its own charging stand which looks cool on the desk
i am using farias wm5 rom with the 8mb pool. and the cingular leaked radio rom
I added some pictures for everyone to see..... check em out
I was missing the extra earbuds and the little plastic capsule that holds the eardbuds to protect it... but in a nut shell.. heres what this beauty looks like..............

it also comes with its own charging stand which looks cool on the desk
i am using farias wm5 rom with the 8mb pool. and the cingular leaked radio rom
I added some pictures for everyone to see..... check em out
I was missing the extra earbuds and the little plastic capsule that holds the eardbuds to protect it... but in a nut shell.. heres what this beauty looks like..............

I have the Sony-Ericsson HBH-DS970's
I think they main unit is smaller, plus it has a caller id display, which is nice, and the microphone is close to the right earpiece, and the left earpiece has a call/end button, which is also nice. Earphones seem similar on each set. Mine work fine with stereo music and with Voice Command.

Thanks for the posting and the photos.
It looks like this is my next headset which I'll get as soon as I get my money back for the very 'odd' Plantronics Pulsar 260 with a 43" cable lenth.
Thanks again!

I've bought from them a couple of times before. Received my order every time, although the items do take up to a week to arrive! I've ordered a Sony DR-BT30Q (also available on that site for the same price)!

Thank you for information. Are you in UK or on continent?
Do you happen to know what color of BT30Q (black or silver) they sell ?
I'm in the UK. No idea what colour either, but on Sony's site its recommended retail is £99.01! Seemed like too good a deal to pass on!!

I've bought from them a few times, I always recommend them to people at work ( i work in mobile retail ) they have near ebay prices for mem cards, i think they are on Isle of Man or something like that....
I just got a set of these for my Cingular 8125. They work better than expected! I'm really glad I picked them up. Thanks for the heads up on a nice set of bluetooth stereo earbuds. All functions work and sound quality is great for me!
I'm really glad I got a 4gb miniSD card now!

When I ordered through Amazon, it took me to mymemory.co.uk and for the black model (which was advertised on Amazon). Having said that the order is still "pending" and not yet shipped. How long does it normally take these guys to ship?

I got my DR-BT30QB today and they've worked pretty well so far. The only wierd thing is I've had a little popping problem that occurs once in a while. I'm using an XDA Mini S with Xplore 1.1 ROM. I also have a Dell notebook using the Toshiba stack. I got the popping earlier when I was playing games on my notebook and also had the phone paired to the headphones as well.
Maybe I paired using the wrong profile? But so far, these headphones are nice and I think I can get by with wearing them for long periods of time.

Nice to heard useful info like this.
But I dunno whether it will works with my ETEN M600 ROM WWE230. I've tried Sony Ericsson HBH DS970 but the music will not resume after incoming call, then losing the pair, and I have to re-pair everytime.
The only working and good Stereo BT for my ETEN is iTech S35. But it does not have AVRCP. Besides, i'd prefer that pendant necklace design of BT20NX (and SE HBH DS970, has anyone realize they both share some design principle? )than clip-on-shirt approach from iTech.
Anyone can give suggestion?
Ok, forgot my question about ETEN compatibility.
Has anyone also tried Philips SHB7100/27 (Stereo A2DP with AVRCP)? It's quite new i guess.

i don't think this is an evo, or even android, issue, but i was hoping the great minds here could maybe direct me or at least clear this issue out for me. i have an mp3 file i'd like to use as a voicemail message greeting. is that even possible? i know a lot of people have songs as greetings, but i always thought those were selected from a bank of pre-selected options.
any thoughts on this?
hmmm. Take the song, layer your voice over, then plug your phone into the computer through line output (does the 3.5mm act as mic jack? on the phone) then call your voice mail

haha i thought of doing that, but i don't think the 3.5mm acts as a mic. if it does though, someone please correct me because i have the most epic of all greetings ready to be unleashed on the few who actually call me haha.
my only alternative, which seems to be the only one at the moment, is to let my laptop scream it out loud while the voicemail system catches it. sigh.. lol
The headphone jack does support mic input, but only through a hands-free headset (that is, a TRRS jack). I just dug through my stuff and I only have 2.5mm headsets, no 3.5mm that would fit the Evo, but if anybody has a stereo headset they should try this out. I tried an external mic and it doesn't pick up, but the headset icon comes on in the notification bar. If it works, it's easy enough to make your own external microphone with simple Radio Shack parts, probably a $5 job. I'll splice something together tomorrow and test this out. The only issue would be that it might trigger the headphone output and mute the speakers. . . .
EDIT: Also just found this. I just sent my cables off with family on a trip so I can't try it right now, but I'll give it a go tomorrow as well.

oooh awesome, please let me know! i don't mind building an external mic at all. thanks!
Well, I struck out looking for my other AV cable and finding one locally. Here's the way this is going to go down:
The Evo headphone jack is a 4-conductor type, also known as TRRS (tip-ring-ring-sleeve). Normal stereo headphones are TRS (tip-ring-sleeve), and you can see the difference by looking at the plug end. If you have a metal tip, then a black ring, then a metal ring, then another black ring, then the metal shaft (sleeve), it's a TRS type. These are able to send the left and right analog signals separately (usually left to the tip, right to the ring, and the ground or shield to the sleeve). The TRRS connector adds another wire to the mix, and this can be used to carry a mono mic or line signal, or even an analog video signal. This is why you could use an analog camcorder cable like this one. I've seen them for less than $2 from some websites, but no local retailers have them, except maybe Best Buy . . . for $41. (You think I'm kidding? )
Cell phones are starting to use these TRRS connectors more commonly, allowing both stereo headphones and a hands-free microphone to share one cable. The problem here is finding a TRRS input cable and coupling it to a line/mic signal. So here's what I was going to do. Get a TRRS-to-RCA adapter like the one linked above, then use a 3.5mm-to-RCA female-female adapter OR a common 3.5mm-to-RCA (red and white) adapter to connect a line/mic signal to the correct RCA connector on the TRRS cable - probably the yellow one. It may or may not take the right kind of adapter to take the stereo line signal down to a mono signal, unless your source is already mono. Otherwise, you could be sending a stereo signal from the source, but only recording the left or right channel into the phone. Alternatively, if I had an iPhone headset or another stereo hands-free headset with a mic built in, I could cut the wire open and separate out the microphone wire from the bundle, then splice a mic/line onto it. It's sometimes tricky getting those tiny wires split apart just right, and those headsets are sometimes expensive.
So, short version: You need a TRRS connector to plug into the Evo headphone jack, and you need to be able to feed a mono line/mic signal to just the tip of the connector. Easy. I have everything but the TRRS plug itself, so I'm stuck for today.
By the way, if you've ever plugged a TRRS cable into the Evo, you'll notice that the standard headphone icon in the notification bar actually shows up with a little microphone coming down, like a flight headset, so you know you have a mic signal at least triggering that fourth conductor.
hmm... you're right about the different icon. i tried it with my old iphone 3gs earphone/mic. pretty slick lol.
i'm going to go to radio shack tomorrow and grab this stuff. all for a custom voicemail lol.
thanks a lot! i'll post up my results, probably this weekend.
There are broader applications to this, I think. Find a good mic and you could record events, maybe. Or hack together your own car kit.

you, sir, are giving me ideas.. i sense a good weekend project coming up.
A different voicemail for each caller.
One of the few times I've been able to come up with an answer before some one beat me to it.
There is a free website out there that I love called youmail.com. You can choose from hundreds of recordings they have or upload your own. Each person can have their own unique voice mail greeting or you can set up groups and each member in that group will have the same greeting.
For example, my work associates get a more professional greeting, family and close friends get something more fun. I've got one just for my wife telling her how much I love her, and a friend of mine that I have shall we say, a boisterous relationship with, get's a very sarcastic greeting. Another friend that's into horses get's a Kentucky horse race greeting. As you can see, you can have a lot of fun with it and do just about anything I like with it.
If you want to do something in your own voice than all you need is a regular microphone to plug into your computer and your set. You can record it directly on the web site or you can use your own software to overlay other audio if you like.
Your limited only by your imagination.
It's a free site, but they do have some pay ring-tones if you really want to give them your money. Personally, I haven't found most of the pay tones to be worth it, but I'm sure somebody does. They have to be paying the bills some how.

I think it is. Never had a problem and I've spent hours going through the hundreds of sound files they have and had a lot of fun doing it. Found everything from very professional to down right vulgar (used that on my best friend) and everything in between. I've even set up holiday greetings for many holidays. It can be lots of fun for both you and your callers.
Just like ringtones. Some people love them, others hate them and just want a simple ring. It's up to you. If you like custom voice mail greetings, then you'll love this one.
Other than selecting the greetings you like and assigning them to your frequent callers, all you have to do to enable or disable is it to set your no answer call forward from your carrier to the youmail number. *28-XXX-XXX-XXXX to turn it on and *38 to turn it off. It couldn't be any easier.

hmmm.. i'll definitely check it out then. thanks!
A lot of these features are available through google voice. (http://voice.google.com). Google also has an app for google voice to integrate visual voicemail with your phone. Worth checking out if you want a highly customizable v-mail service.
In order to setup your phone so that all voicemails go to your google voice instead of your sprint voicemail dial *28 + google phone number without the 1. it's a free service from sprint.
I have the perfect answer for uploading greetings!!!!
All you have to do is simply download youmail!!!! On your mobile. It works for all cellphones and you can do whatever you want to do. Any other way is simply ridiculous hahaha try it and spread the word!!!!!
I would like to combine my Note a good bluetooth headset that I do hear the caller's name perhaps diverting the ringer in the headset when it is set "to driving" that repeats the name of the caller.
I purchased the "BlueAnt Q2", which stores contacts in its internal memory and then repeat the caller's name (as promised!) but in fact repeats the caller's number one for a scanning the numbers.
Tips?
Thanks

Sony Ericsson MW600 works wonderfully, excellent battery life and outstanding stereo quality sound.
any suggestion for a bt closed earphones?
u cant really listen music with an in-ear earphones (like the sony or the sennheiser).
anyone checked, for example the halo2 from jabra?
tested:
plantronics discovery 975: volume:yes, answer call:no, recall last number:no, vocal controls:yes
LG hbm-900: volume:yes, answer call:yes, recall last number:no, vocal controls:no
sennheiser mm200: volume:yes, answer call:no, recall last number:no, vocal controls:yes, skip ff/back:no
nokia bh-504: volume:yes, answer call:no recall last number:no, vocal controls:no, skip ff/back:no
an answer from plantronics service was that we gotta wait new bt firmware from samsung for to fix bt problems.
after 20 years of bt there is still compatibility problems??!?
consider that all the tested headphones worked fine with dell streak and htc hd7

I have also purchased the Blueant Q2 and it does not announce the caller name.
The customer support at Blueant say that it is an issue with Samsung. Has anybody else tried this headset and managed to make it announce the caller's name from the phone book?

+1 for MW600... I have bought it for my SGS2 and now using for Note... Excellent... I am also using Sony Ericsson LiveView (with Note and MW600 together) but LiveView has it's own issues...
Tried my 5 years old Motorola HT820 Bluetooth headsets and they seems to be working wonderfully including A2DP and AVRCP profiles. Am on stock rom without any issues. Sound quality amazing !!!
+1 for the HS3000 from Samsung. Works perfectly and the volume controls are buttons which I prefer over an lcd slider in the MW600. Offers a standard 3.5mm jack so you can plug in any headphones you like.
Similar to the HS3000, I'm using my Nokia BH-214 that I was previously using for 2 years on my N900 and so far it works fine. No options for announcing the caller's name though... but for a $40 BT that lets you use any headset/earbuds you want it is a nice option.
Little inquiry:
Never used a bluetooth headset before, but now I'm considering getting one.
Just wanted to know if you need to have Bluetooth enabled all the time or you can set it so that it only does when receiving or making a call.

Yes bluetooth needs to be on all the time if you want to receive calls or audio from the phone.
---------- Post added at 03:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:55 PM ----------
My JayBird Freedom headset has arrived and it works very well with the Note. It took some doing finding some one willing to ship to Africa. (I ordered it from the JayBird Store).
Looking at the pictures of the freedom they look to be painful to wear but they are great and have a multitude of fitting options for the best comfort. I wanted a wireless headset specifically for music and audio books and this headset delivers there in abundance. Both with Audible & Mort Player for audio books and Player Pro for music.
Unfortunately as some online reviews state the call quality is a little disappointing, it's by no means unusable. But the sound is tinny and a little distant, it's is fact the opposite experience to the music and audio books I was taken aback a little by the contrast. Although tinny I could hear the callers quite clearly and they also stated they could hear me clearly although also a little tinny. Overall I am happy with the headset as it fulfills my primary requirement for listening to stuff without a cord getting in the way.

Ohh thanks. How much does having Bluetooth on all the time affect the battery life? That was my concern.
Hmm. Is there no app/hack/procedure that makes it so you can set it so that it only turns on Bluetooth when receiving or making a call?
But if it barely takes a toll on the battery then never mind.
I would think that the bluetooth link to the headset while not in a call would not take too much power. Having an app turn on bluetooth for a call may work but I suspect by the time the link to the headset has been established your phone would have routed the call to your voice mail.
I use a jawbone ERA without any issues.
I second that.
Love the caller name on the Era and also its customizability.
