Rtsp Proxy - P3600 ROM Development

Hi guys,
does anyone of you know how to add an RTSP proxy to the connection settings? Currently there's WAP, HTTP, HTTPS an socks, but I also need RTSP. I tried doing it via the registry, but with little succes.
Or does anyone know of a videoplayer where you can set both APN and proxy? In HTC Streaming Media You can only set APN, RealOne player only the proxy. I need both . I've tried everything i can think of but i'm kinda stuck here
Help is much appreciated!

anyone? Adding it in the registry has not worked yet...

Hello,
im using real one player - there i can set up a rtsp proxy.
may i ask you: do you know a public rtsp proxy ? i would like to try this proxy feature.
thank you.

i was about to back up my setting and im on the "My ISP GPRS" window and i can see the username but the password is "*******"
how can i get the password?
Do i need this info???
depends, if you look on the xda-wiki for hermes, (link at the top of the page)there are carrier cabs, or somewhere on the posts if you search for them. These will contain the correct settings for your service provider. the cabs you just run onto your device, as described on the wiki & by mr Vanx in the upgrade guide.
Hope this helps

what network are you on
Cinular network
Very often both - username and password - is web
But to be on the safe side you can ask your operator helpline
The password for Cingular - MyISP or MEdiaNet is CINGULAR1
Surprised to see no flames lolz, you should really search things before you make threads though for future reference.
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
all uppercase, the cab below will set up your internet for cingular, then you can customize it all you want, it includes both username and a pass to connect to the internet.
thanks guys
If you are using my ISP GPRS, you could be on the pda connect plan, and not media net. You should know before you flash 2.5 cingy version that the proxy for media net is the default each time you reboot and that you will need to run disable proxy (built into the ROM in programs folder) each time you want to use isp.cingular, not wap.cingular. The cab file will give you the settings for wap and isp.cingular, but every time your device reboots, it will default back to the proxy enabled, unless you delete the Enableautodetect key in the registry.
Just trying to head off a likely question you will come back with after you flash and you try to use isp.cingular, as I had over the weekend... good luck with the flash.

I downloaded this and moved it into the 8525. From there, I clicked it to install it on the 8525. What else do I have to do?

how to change proxy settings in email

hi all
i have a xda orbit, aka htc artemis. my service provider, after much delay, helped me to set up the internet settings for my device. now the problem is, they have made me change the port numbers from 80 to 9401 and have set up a connection in "work" settings, whenever i try to download emails from my yahoo account, which supports pop3, it says error in synch and to check my net connection. the same works fine if i connect my device to the pc with internet connection. similar thing happens with most of other apps which use internet
can someone help me on how to change the proxy settings on other apps or how to make other apps use the same connections settings please.
thanks

Kavana ROM proxy settings: new-inet / new-corp ?

I asked this n another thread, but no joy.
I installed the latest Kavana ROM, works GREAT. Thanks for that.
But, some questions.
I'd like to understand how all the networks and proxy things work.
I understand how proxy servers work for the PC world, but I don't understand all the various connections and proxies on the smartphone.
I'm on T-mobile, and I used the connection wizard. But then MMS and SMS weren't working quite right, so I applied some other settings from some other posts and right now, it all (IE, SMS, MMS) seems to work.
But, I am not at all confident I could reproduce this if I had to flatten the device again. Is there something I can read to understand the relative significance of all the various named networks: "work" "TMobile MMS" "Tmobile Data" "WAP Network" "Secure WAP Network" and "The Internet" and also the various proxies that route to these various networks?
Do I really need all the connections - I have like 7 of them.
The new-inet:1118 proxy - what is that for?
That hostname, is it really meaningful?
I also have a new-corp:1159 proxy,
with a name of HTTP:{3F31657F... (etc etc guid)}
What is THAT thing for?
I'd feel better if I understood all these settings, when and why I need a proxy. etc etc . thanks for pointers.
Anyone know?
Anyone know the answer to this? anyone have any clues to offer me?
I'm also having trouble w/ the MMS after installing Ricky's ROM. Are you able to pull the MMS settings from your phone and share? Otherwise, does anyone else know all of the settings?

These cryptic settings come from active sync. I see them if I allow my DASH to sync with my office Windows XP machine with networking enabled. and my office trys to use the network my Dash is on. Once these entries are created, I can not use my t-mo net connection (cheap version). But it is all fine, once I delete these unknown entries.
My MMS Settings
Here's what I did to get MMS to work, in and out.
I am using Kavana 1.33 ROM.
1. set up 2 connections:
Start...Settings....Connections....GPRS
Now, either add a New item, or edit an existing one.
Description: T-Mo Web or T-Mo Data or something else similarly descriptive
Connects to: The Internet
Access point: internet2.voicestream.com
Username: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Authentication Type: None
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP Address: <blank>
Done
[the above gets you a connection to the Internet ]
Again, either add a New item, or edit an existing one.
Name: T-Mo WAP or T-Mo MMS or something descriptive
Connects To: WAP Network
Access Point: wap.voicestream.net
[everything else as above]
Done
[the above gets you a connection to the T-mobile WAP network]
Done
[you are in Settings...Connections, now.]
2. set up one proxy
Scroll to "Proxy"
[this is also reachable directly from home screen via: Start...Settings....Connections....Proxy]
New.... or Edit an existing (your preference)
Name: Tmo WAP->Internet
Connects from: Wap Network
Connects To: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
Username: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Done
[the above sets up a proxy connection for your SMS/MMS]
Done
[you are in Settings...Connections, now.]
3. Set up SMS preferences
Scroll to "SMS Service"
[this is also reachable directly from home screen via: Start...Settings....Connections....SMS Service]
SMS over: GPRS Preferred
Done
[your are now back in Settings...Connections]
Pess the red "call end" button.
[you are now back on the home screen]
4. Set up MMS on the device:
Start...Messaging
scroll to MMS
Menu...Settings...
Menu (again)
MMSC Settings
Menu...New or Menu....Edit (your pleasure).
[the settings for this MMSC thing should be:]
Name: whatever you like, I used "Picture Messaging"
MMSC URL: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
WAP Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port: 8080
Connect Via: WAP Network
Max. Sending Size: 300k (or whatever you prefer)
WAP version: WAP 2.0
Done
Done
Done
HOME
5. set up IE
Start...Internet Explorer
Menu...Tools...Options...Connections
Automatically Detect Settings - This works either way for me, checked or unchecked
Select network: The Internet.
Done
Done
----
All of the above allows me to send out SMS and MMS messages, and receive in such messages, as welll as surf the internet from IE.
I have the $19.99/month T-Mobile internet plan in the USA.
If you have the $5.99 T-zones plan, then I think your settings may be different.
Search elsewhere for that.
ActiveSync creates new-inet and new-corp proxies?

Are you sure? Are you sure those things come from ActiveSync and are not just in the Kavana ROM? I use Windows Vista, and the Windows Mobile Device Center, which is the replacement for Activesync. I have never used WinXP and ActiveSync (on the PC) with this device, but I did have those weird entries. I don't see those odd proxy entries get recreated when I sync with Vista+WMDC.
I assuming that the odd proxy entries that reference "new-corp" and "new-inet", were just "in" the ROM by default. Or maybe they were set up when I ran the Internet Connection Wizard which is in the ROM. I don't know for sure. This is why I am asking you, ARE YOU SURE that those entries come from ActiveSync?
Do they return *every time* you sync?
In any case, lacking any real response from the board, I removed the proxy entries from my device, and for me at least, everything still works - SMS, MMS, Internet, etc.
I hate the fact that this still feels so mysterious.

Damn. I put in all of these settings exactly as shown and still get an "Error Synchronizing" message when I try and send/receive MMS messages. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm on T-Mobile, $20 plan w/ Ricky's 6.1.

[Help]IE cant open any web page on wap connection but opera can !

Hi there ... i'm using a wap connection with proxy server for HTTP
opera browser is working just fine as well as weather update, no problems what so ever !
But IE is giving me the message (you are not authorized to view this page)
... and at the end of the page it says
HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden
Internet Explorer
it's really frustrating coz i searched a lot on internet and couldn't find any solution
i tried a lot of roms and had the same issue with all of them
any help is appreciated and thanks in advance
^ bump ....
i wonder if there is a solution !!! 30 saw this thread yet no one answered !!
I don't know if this will help you in any way.
I remember when i had a Virgin Mobile SIM card that i had to set a different proxy setting for IE, otherwise it would not open web pages.
You can find the proxy setting under the connections settings.
T-Mobile on the other hand needs the proxy setting turned off in order to work.

thx for your reply gadgetwizard but if i put a different proxy the internet service wont work cause it depends on this particular IP
so i'm looking for a way or advanced configuration for IE to make it accept using proxy server !!
so again i'm waiting to see if anyone can help me solve this
I don't know where it's located in this new IE, but you have to change the user agent for your proxy, it's a little "tag" that identify your browser and your phone type for better browsing optimization. Your wap proxy won't let you pass through if your User Agent is not allowed. Search a little more on how to change it (HDtweaks do that for previous IE version, it might work. or registry edit) and what to put instead. Hope it's clear, hope it helps.

How do you prevent ActiveSync from setting the proxy on phone

About once a week, my phone will have the proxy on MediaNet set to my work computer's network proxy.
This only affects Google Maps' ability to see traffic but I use that function a LOT.
For some reason, I am unable to change it in connections because it says MediaNet is pre-configured and doesn't let me change it there. To fix it, I have to delete the content of the proxy server in a couple places in the registry but that is a pain in the butt.
1. Does anyone know how to prevent either of my sync'd computers from changing the proxy server on my phone?
2. Does anyone know how I can access Media Net's settings through "Connections" and not through the registry?
