Hi everyone!
I need to create a Bluetooth COM port on my Artemis (PV B&B v3 ROM, which is WM6)
I did this in WM5:
Theres the Bluetooth Settings.
A Tab named "COM ports" (or so)
In that tab theres a list box with every active COM port and one entry "create new incoming/outgoing port".
So when no ports are set up, there are only those 2 items. one to create new imcoming port and one to create new outgoing port.
well... since flashing to WM6 these 2 items are gone... and i cannot create ports!
There is even explaining text above the list box that tells me to tap on "create new com port" to create a new COM port.
Thats funny isn't it?
Like a sign that would say: "Push the Button below to get what you desire" and then theres no button below
So whats wrong here?
Maybe anyone with the PV Black&Blue v3 ROM could try this?
Just go to Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Bluetooth -> "COM ports"-Tab
thxalot!
I was about to ask the same question. I'm using Black Majik.
those 2 entries are not in b&b v3 as far as I can tell
So i'm not the only one with that problem...
Maybe we can try to set up COM ports with a different Bluetooth config software than the WM6 default one?
is there any free available Bluetooth manager?
so here is how it looked in WM5:
I got 2 items to create new ports.

These are just missing!
Has to be a bug!!!
Or is it a driver problem? Maybe That BT driver does not support COM ports?
This is really annoying!
...however...I am able to pair my pc and pda and activesync with bt
do you use windows vista?
as far as i know you have to create com ports to use activesync with windows xp.
activesync on windows vista works fine for me without com ports too.
but there are many services that reqire com ports, such as a GPS tunnel to use artemis as a GPS receiver for windows.
So guys, I'm on holiday for a while No posts from me for now! cya!
I gave you time to think about it my whole holidays and you got nothing?
what do you think? bug or not?
i had the same problem... i updated my bluetooth driver on my PC (dont use the one included in Windows XP SP2) and paired my device again.. now i can create com ports....
after installing the official software for your bluetooth stick... you have to manualy change the driver from the windows integrated to the installed...
I'm talking about the BT on my Artemis...
I can create COM ports in Windows XP and Vista, but not on WM6 B&B3

yes i understand... exactly the same happened to me.... wit updated bluetooth drivers on WinXP it worked..... try it
This has nothing to do with windows XP!
I just want to create a COM port on my device. without connecting to any pc
if you believe me or not... it has something to do with WinXP.... i dont know why...... try it and report back....
i promise you it worked for me.... ask tom codon... i chated with him long about the problem.. and thats my solution... so ... believe it or not.... i only wanted to help... but if you dont want to try it out... its your problem.
I'm also trying to do this but to no avail, its rediculous that the options aren't there and why would it be an XP problem and if it is what about us Vista users! The bluetooth on WM6 is terrible, I can make it connect to my bluetooth headset for calls but the stereo headset function wont work at all it just plays music out of the phones speaker.
So what if i have no PC with Bluetooth at home?
it's just unlogical for me to fix a problem with my phone on my pc!
why should wm6 even know what i'm doing with my PC's bluetooth drivers. this just cant be the right solution
aslso my windows bt works just fine and i dont want other drivers or something
I think I've figured it out....
You need to pair a device with your phone (preferably a pc running activesync) as with no device paired I haven't got the option to create a new port in the 'com ports' tab. Once the machine is paired to a device which supports Serial com port profile (pretty much everything does) you should have the option to create a new outgoing port. I don't know how to get the option to create a new incoming port (apparently this option isn't needed as everything can connect to it anyway) and unfortunately it seems to be restricted to the machine which you've paired it to.
no this doesn't work for me...
I created a incoming port on Windows Vista, paired that device.
The COM Service is not listed on my Artemis.
(Headset and A2DP are though)
In windows Vista there are also ActiveSync and Obex ObjectPush
In Windows XP there are no services (from both sides).
Still not able to create COM ports
w00t!
just set up ActiveSync on Windows XP (over COM)
and i got the "new outgoing port" item!
still no incoming one
sounds logical now excuse me for talking sh*t
If i have no opened COM ports on my Artemis, I cannot create incoming ports.
If I have no BT device with COM ports paired, I cannot create outgoing ports.
Since I opened the COM port an Windows XP (for ActiveSync) i can create the outgoing port for that device.
I think I understand now
So now lets see If i can get GPS2Blue running
Related
Is this possible. Can i use the device as a GPS receiver via BT or USB on my Laptop ?
Hi,
Have a look at GPS2Blue. I guess this should do the trick but haven't tried it yet.

Here is what i did:
On your PDA
1. Go to BT settings on your device and make it discoverable.
2. Go to COM Ports Tab and create a new incoming port (mine is COM6)
In GPS2Blue
3. set your GPS to 4 (this is your internal GPS port ..see under Start --> Settings-->GPS)
4. enable BT on and set it to the COM you created in step 2.
5. Press Button ON
On your PC
6. Open your Bluetooth settings... i used Microsoft not Widcomm
7. Add a new Device
8. Choose your PDA
9. When this is done click properties on your device and go to the TAB services.
10. Now it will find a serial Port (SPP) 'Serial Port' COM 8 (in my case) enable it and press OK.
11. Now go to the TAB Com Ports and press button ADD. Choose your device and choose the Serial port.
Now you have connected COM port 8 on your PC to COM Port 6 on your device. The only thing you will have to do is choose COM Port 8 as your GPS port in your application.
Using the Orbit as a BT GPS reciever for Laptop
Hiya!
I was wondering the exact same thing last night and here is a topic covering it !! excellent !
I'm now going to be selling off my Xda Exec with Original TomTom bluetooth GPS reciever and putting the proceeds of that towards an Xda Orbit and I can still connect it to my laptop !
What is the GPS2Blue application for on the PDA? is it absolutley necessary to have in order to be able to use with a laptop? (I have a Dell with a built in Bluetooth module) I use Microsoft AutoRoute 2006 on my laptop sometimes,
Once I get the Orbit, I can recheck this thread and have a go at getting it connected
Cheers guys!

Making your pda look like a BT GPS receiver is what GPS2BLUE is designed for.

Normally the GPS receiver only wakes up if an application accesses the COM port so you cant just flick the GPS on without a 3rd party program. Maybe a low level way, but still needs some effort to do it.

Hi,
Have tried to set this up but cant get it to work.
I have installed GPS2Blue and have set it up exactly as it says in your instructions, but everytime i press the "on" button it gets as far as saying "Bluetooh Port not connected, waitin" how long should i "wait" for it to connect??
Anyone kno why this is not working??
Also does anyone know how to set up the "PC" side of it on a Mac??
Regards
Chaz
woooo, lol. i got it sorted, well sort of newayz. The problem was my mac, for some reason it doesn't seam to be calling the gps on the port i set up. stupid thing, but tried it on windows, and it works perfectly now.
But still the million dollar question, can anybody get it working on Mac for me??
GPSgate is able to do the same.
redirects the vcom4 to com6 (BT outgoing) and its redy to comunicate with BT on PC...
Other oportunity is to use Portsplit & GPSproxy. The same function.
In other words - nothinq new under the sun...
Using 3300/artemis as GPS receiver for a laptop
Hi,
I now have my Orbit and it's running TomTom 6 nicely using a 1GB Sandisk 'normal' speed micro SD card.
Now if I install GPS blue and use the instructions given earlier in this thread, could I for instance be on a journey and have TomTom 6 running using the internal GPS reciever AND have the Bluetooth connection to my Laptop providing the GPS signal and it being used on Microsoft AutoRoute 2006 at the 'same time'? - or would they have to be exclusive to each other?
I'm also guessing that the 3300/artemis will be able to connect say to a XDA2s machine to 'act' as the BT GPS reciever for TT5 on that PDA right?!
Cheers! Dennis! West London UK!

Hi,
I synchronize My WM6 O2 Orbit at home and work using ActiveSync 4.5. I sync only with these two computers.
After connection, the "Set up a sync partnership" dialog occurs forcing me to delete old partnership (with the same "right" computer) and creating the new partnership.
I have even tried to delete both partnerships and starting from e.g. the first one at work, and second at home, but the problem repeated.
Maybe I was not lucky, but my search for a solution was not successfull. Any help please?

Well, as I had written, I did without success. Btw I do not need to synchronize inbox at all...
Just guessing still, but I have noticed today that Device name (Start/Settings/System/About/Device ID) chagned at the beginning of the ActiveSync with the "second" computer. What does this mean - PC should not change Device name??
Dear community, as I am a bit mad regarding the issue not solved for me, I'd like to ask you again for help.
Two things are in my mind:
- Windows XP / Windows 2000 issue: at home I have Windows XP, at work Windows 2000. Could here be an issue?
- Localizations. Could different language versions of ActiveSync cause the issue (because of different folders names?). Currently I have english WM6 Dopod, but both Windows XP and Windows 2000 are Czech version. Could here be the problem?
- Security rights. At work, I am not the local administrator of the computer. Well, but using ActiveSync 3.8 with PPC 2003 was without problem, without partneship loss at the same machine
Thank you for any direction.

About Active Sync: your can nok cyn WM6 with Active Sync below version 4.5 (as far as i know)
I dont think the different languages is a problem (i´m running WM6 eng.) on my phone and sync with Windows Vista (Danish)
I dont think activesync is prepared to sync with different computers, unless you remove the connection every time.. (but i´m not sure)
You've to edit the registry...

That sounds familiar to me: Syncing with two computers and one Exchange Server worked well for some weeks, but suddenly I had the same problem. The solution was to remove the partnership information manually (i.e. not via ActiveSync, but by editing the registry). As far as I can remember, it was sufficient to do this on the PC. Locate HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows CE Services/Partners and remove the correponding Entry. Also I had seen, that there is a Key called Tombstone, which was set for the device and which I had to remove (Is it sufficient just to remove that entry?). Maybe someone can write some line regarding the meaning of that entry?
I hope this points you towards the solution of that problem. I can not remember what exactly I did, but maybe you can write it in detail once you've managed it?
Good Luck,
Matzix
Edit (25.7.): You also have to remove the old repl.dat in your application data folder (e.g. C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\User\Anwendungsdaten\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles\Orbit\repl.dat) and the folder having the same name as your device. Reason: If that folder exists, ActiveSync assumes that an active partnership with another device having the same name exists and renames the new device...
Im having same problem using activesync 4.5 with my office and home computer to sync my HTC Athena WM6. Everytime activesync is requesting new partnership.
Im tired of doing that everytime and having duplicates in my data, its driving me crazy.
I didn't have this problem with my QTEK 2020i WM2003SE, using ativesync 4.1 on my office computer and activesync 4.5 on my home computer ...
It worked perfectly ...
Same problem here. Does anyone have idea on this?
Im becoming Crazy , have tried many things but nothing works.
I have however discovered something interesting that might us start working on to find a solution, so here it is guys:
Last Friday in the office, I uninstalled activesync on my laptop, ran CCleaner to clean the windows 2000 registry, then verified that keys listed in post #6 have been deleted. I reinstalled ActiveSync on the laptop, then after deleting all created partnership on the HTC X7500 (with both home and office), I started a clean new partnership on office laptop and synced all my data.
I checked that the new partnership was created correctly under HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows CE Services/Partners and Tombstone key as well.
I went home for the week end and did an uninstall of activesync on my Win XP desktop, run CCleaner and made sure keys from post #6 are deleted. Then started a new sync partnership to sync all my data and everything is ok until now.
I checked that the new partnership was created correctly under HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows CE Services/Partners and Tombstone key as well.
On monday, I pluged my HTC to the USB of my Win 2000 laptop hoping that it will work fine, and bad surprise, it has asked me again for a new partnership, which means it did not recognised the device as a partner already synced.
What I noticed is that activesync on the laptop have deleted automatically the old partership: "File -> Mobile Decie" is grey as well as "File -> delete Mobile Device". These options are normally not greyed when an existing partership is done previously. And activesync is displaying "No partnership" ...
Normally activesync keeps all partnership with other devices (if you sync many devices with same computer) which means here that activesync detected it is the same device and deleted older partnership
Another surprise is in the registry where under HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows CE Services/Partners, there is no partnership anymore
Even worse, under C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles, there is no profile anymore, it has been deleted
On the HTC device, both partnerships still exist with last date/time they have been synced ....
I can't understand why the partnership on win2000 have been deleted
I'll do a new partnership with the win2000 laptop and see if partnership on WinXP desktop will be deleted. will update later
If any experienced user can help us here, it will be really appreciated ..
what is weird also is that when I connect the HTC to the win2000 laptop to sart a new partnership it open the window asking me to delete one of the 2 already established partnership (that confirms both partnership still exist on the device but not recognised by the laptop, and worse, it has been deleted on the laptop)
I've attached 2 screen shots
u can see both existing partnership on the first one, and the greyed option for "Mobile Device" and "Delete Mobile Device" on the second one
Im starting a new sync partnership with the win2000 laptop, of course I have deleted the "Office Laptop" partnership on the first activesync screen, then set the items I want to sync, and completed the partnership.
now I have "repl.dat and user.sdf" under C:\Documents & Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles\HTC_X7500
I have also a new 37a81889 key under HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows CE Services/Partners which means a new partnership has been created on this compter.

Hi, back from holiday and nice to see that at least I am not alone with the problem still not solved for me...
Is there a way to approach an official ActiveSync support at Microsoft or what could we do...?
Isn't this issue with WM6 + Activesync 4.5 + Comp1=Win2000 + Comp2=WinXP? Or this occurs to anybody when e.g. both computers have WinXP?

We need to go check Microsoft site to see if we can request support.
We have to specify that we are many facing this problem.
I didn't had a problem with my WM2003SE device + ActiveSync 4.2 on Win2000 + ActiveSync 4.5 on WinXP so im not really sure ...
check this
http://www.mobileviews.com/blog/2007/02/17/activesync-45-ate-my-device-partnerships/
Confirmed, the same computers but WM2003SE + ActiveSync 4.2 = no such problems.
Still the question - is it or is it not a Win2000 / Win XP (or two other different win systems mix at the two computers) issue?
Not sure. But my scenario is WM6, WINXP, WIN2000 and Mail Push.
Actually, I used WM2003SE and WM5 with same PC and Activesync 3.8/4.2 but no problem at all.
I confirm same behavior yesterday night on my home WinXP desktop.

Very strange actually, open your folder C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles where you have your already created profile, and you will see it disappear while ActiveSync is retreiving settings from your pocket PC. Then ActiveSync will create a new profile under same folder while in same time ActiveSync will ask for a new partnership.
I don't know if activesync on PC1 is deleting the profile (after doing a second partnership with PC2) or is it the pocket pc whos deleting...
If there is a brave volunteer to hard reset his device and try to see if same behavior exist (cause im not so brave ), at least we will know if its coming from the pocket PC or ActiveSync 4.5 and will direct our troubleshooting in the good sense.
I tried by the way to save the existing profile on a different location, and after its deletion, I diconnect the pocket PC and copied back the profile under C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles, but this didin't help neither, which sounds logical for me as the partnership is deleted in the windows registry as well ....
I can confirm having this problem in the following situation:
E-ten M700 PPC with WM6, desktop PC1 with WinXP prof., laptop PC2 with WinXP prof.
So this is not an XP/2000 problem. I used to sync just fine with both PC's when I was using WM5 on my PPC and activesync 4.2 on both PC's.
It's driving me crazy!
How do I create an incoming Bluetooth COM port? When I go to the COM ports tab in the Bluetooth settings, where I expect to find "New Outgoing Port" and "New Incoming Port", it's just blank. I need to create an incoming port to get my hands-free car kit working.
Using WM6 by the way, but think I still had this issue with orignal WM5.
Thanks!
You have 2 do thid on the pc, not the ppc. Go to bluetoothsettings in your configscreen on XP. then 3rd tab, comports, then add outgoing comport.
use this comport in your conection settings in activesync.

I was hoping that wouldn't be the only answer as I've not got an XP machine any more Can this be done from Vista? (not even sure by BT dongle works with Vista). Or do you know if it can be done from a Mac?
Thanks for the reply anyway.
Hi.
Is there any one who has the Spectec SGD 810 SDIO GPS ? I got mine from the ebay, but it is not working on my iPAQ hx2795,
I see that the green LED blinking for some time and it lit stable after 30 seconds, so I think GPS is able to fix the poistion,
but when I use the holux GPS viewer to scan all the ports, it says "Port failed to open / Could not found", When I tried with GPSTweak I see there is a port available with the name "COM4: Spectec GDS driver". I selected this port manually and tried with 9600 baud rate. When I click on connect I see the following on screen
"
NMEA: Entering decoding thread
NMEA: No leading $
NMEA: No leading $
....
"
I see that hx2790 is supported by the GPS, so I thought it would also work for the hx2795,
I am using WM 5.0 official HP release, I tried different drivers listed on their website with no luck , their web site is crap and I don't find any thing usefull
Please help me if any one has a working module already
and oh I am in India
Its Working !!!
After having a couple of communication with the Guy called Henry who works for Spectec CS support, we got figured out the problem, the problem is Baud Rate
After I changed the baud rate to 38400, viola it is working, even in WM6,
great help from the Spectec customer Support
what driver you use??? i try with wm6.1 but not working....
I have recently just bought a Spectec 810 SD, and have been trying to set it up for use with my x50v running WM6...
I have also got a BT338 and that works perfectly and even picks up instantly indoors, where as the SD 810 I did actually manage to work around to make it work, never finds any satelites until you stand ever so still outside for around 5 minutes...
Here is how I made this SD810 kinda work...
Go to the External GPS in settings and turn off hardware, software and un check the managed button...
Then set up your GPS software packages to search on port 4, baud rate 38400...
But then again its still can't seem to find those satellites quick enough...
Probably sell it unless someone has a magic wand to make it work better !!!
thx for answer
my problem is with port...

maybe WM6.1 is problem...
Sounds good to me, thinking of driving our old camper van to Croatia one day...looks a beautiful country...sorry can't help any further
not help but offer for drink stand
i am try to downgrade to WM5
Work with WM5!!!! problem is in first setup... when run GPS Viewer now ask pin code for BT!!!! after entering 000000 GPS working on port COM8!!! device use active BT connection and if this not paired, not working
now i try to upgrade again to WM6.1 and try install from clean system
Yes working with WM6.1!!! Problem first time is only with BT settings... with clean system now setup work fine
Can I ask why the Bluetooth effects the SD GPS ?
why do you need to enter a pin code ?
device use BT for connection (not SD port)
Instructions:
I have this receiver and too much trouble if you don't know how to setup device...
I used this with HP hx2790 with WM5.0 and WM6.1.
Navigation software: iGO 2006 Plus
Also, you MUST have device (PPC) with Bluetooth (BT)... without this GPS not working!!!
SD connection is only for power!!!
Download driver (WM5 and WM6), manual and software (here is all needed)
http://rapidshare.com/files/109548678/Spectec_GPS_SD.zip
Driver for PPC2003SE only
http://www.spectec.com.tw/download/gps-htc/general_sdio.CAB
If the PDA is Treo650 download info:
Copy the MMCBulverdeIntelDrv_Device.prc
http://WWW.SPECTEC.COM.TW/download/gps-palm-treo650/MMCBulverdeIntelDrv_Device.prc
Install Filez.prc
http://WWW.SPECTEC.COM.TW/download/gps-palm-treo650/Filez.prc
Instruction for HP iPAQ:
1. Don't connect GPS receiver yet
2. Connect device (PPC) with ActiveSync to PC and install driver (Spectec-GPS.exe) and software GpsViewer.exe
3. Go to Settings - System - External GPS and disable (uncheck) all options (Programs, Hardware and Access)
4. Reboot device
5. Enable BT on device and connect GPS receiver to SD port
6. Start GPS Viewer software. For Baudrate select 38400 and select Scan...
7. When GPS receiver found, device automatic starts BT manager for device pairing... enter 000000 for pin code
8. Look again GPS Viewer software... if all OK you see what COM port GPS receiver use (look picture). Remember this COM port (in this example COM 8)
9. Now you can close GPS Viewer software. Reboot device.
10.Start your Navigation software (iGO 2006 Plus for example) and setup GPS connection (Port COM 8, Baud rate 38400)
Sorry dxdy
I have just followed your guide exactly...
When I do a scan in GPS viewer it finds my GPS SDG-810 on com 4, then I open the GPS, it doesn't open my BT connection, and even when I go to the BT manager it doesn't find anything.
But in GPS viewer it has a load of red sats but never fixes...
Tried exactly the same thing with my BT388 GPS and the world view shows 7 green satelites even in doors...
try in BT mannager to manual search for new BT device
Its working without BT on, and with BT on....yet whatever settings...I have just been out in car, drove for 30 mins after 20 minutes the GPS viewer actually got a fix on 3 satelites. Then I arrived at my destination, turned off the device...after 15mins I turned it all back on again...started to drive home, after 25 mins it eventually found 4 satellites...
In my mind what is the point of this SD GPS, its rubbish...
I know I'm going to get flamed which, after much debate, I realize I cannot avoid. I've searched and searched and perhaps I haven't searched properly. I've read endless posts on this and that but nothing. I'm going to lay this out and if you want to flame me... go ahead.
Cingular 8525 - Schaps 4.01 Lite
IBM Thinkpad T60
Bluetooth Configuration > Diagnostics > Device Properties
Manufacturer: Broadcom Corporation
Firmware Revision: Version 2.1.92.108
I create a partnership by searching for the computer from my device. Find it and enter the code. Partnership complete.
Open My Bluetooth Places\My Device and I see 11 potential services which include, My PIM Synchronization, My Dial-up Networking, My audio gateway and 8 others. So basically, I have a lot of possibilities. On my 8525 I have only 4 possible connection types which are Dun, Serial, headset and something else but NOT PIM synchronization.
I go to activesync on my 8525 with Bluetooth radio turned on. Go to connections and I have the when cradled "synchronize all pc's with USB (my only option). Click on menu > connect via bluetooth and get the message "cannot find an existing bluetooth partnership with a pc that supports activesync...". Sounds like a pc side issue maybe so i go to activesync on my pc and make sure that I allow a connection. I choose com6 because it is available and I modified HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Serial\Ports\00000016ceed6fdcort to use com6 because otherwise my only option is com0 which isn't available in activesync.
Anyway, it still wont connect. I'm not a genius but I'm not an idiot either. I'm obviously missing something so help a brotha out.... PLEASE!!
I am having the same problem with my BT bluesoid (cant spell)...I know have used it before, but could not figure out how to do it with hermes.
Let me know if you find a fix...
I'm searching through the threads...I think I saw somewhere how broadcom's BT drivers don't work with AS or WMDC...Somebody had removed the Broadcomm stack and defaulted to the Micro$oft BT stack...
There's some info here with XP if you haven't seen it:

I finally got it to work by changing the com ports in activesync on my laptop. I am currently using "com 7". Each time I changed com ports I deleted the connection and paired again. That was the only way I could get it to work.

Did you have to edit the laptop registry to get com7 to work? In activesync, i don't have the option of using com7. Only com1 and 3 or IR.
i have the same problem here,it says" cannot find an existing bluetooth partnership with a pc that supports activesync..."." and then opens some sort of list whit divices and services.
i have selected com 8 becouse i wont select com7 (dunno why)
so i selected com 8 in every program: bluesoleil, activesync 4.5 and MS stack in my ppc.
the system is in spanish but you can recognoise all the things in a sec.
but still cant sync, what am i doing wrong?

ActiveSync via Bluetooth is the most confusing and non-user friendly thing that any software develop can ever come up with. You're not alone. After trying to figure it out for many months, I gave up. Hopefully, your thread can shed some light.
Create a Bluetooth serial port...
You're almost there...once you have the partnership established, open your bluetooth settings and go to the "COM Ports" tab. Press the "Add..." button and create an "Incoming" port. Give it a sec and it will go through the whole "new hardware found" thing. Make a note of the Com Port number it created. Once thats done, open up active-sync on the PC and go to "File->Connection Settings" and check the "Allow connections to one of the following:" and set it to the com port that was created. Hit "OK", then on the mobile device run activesync and go to "Menu-> Connect via Bluetooth". You should now be good to go.
After fighting this one for several months with my 8525 w/att wm6, here what I found .......
On my Dell (toshiba stack) you will have two types of com ports . Incoming (server) and outgoing (client). The incoming(server) is the one you want, but not important as you will see!! The only thing that is important is to note which com ports did your bluetooth manager setup!!!
After you set the ActiveSync partnership with your PC through USB. Go to Files/Connection Setting. Check the box " Allow connections to..."Now select the incoming(server) com port, or at least the one you think it is!! OK out...
Now on the 8525 go to ActiveSync, select connect via bluetooth. When it comes to the "No Partnership exists....". Now follow the prompts on setting up the bluetooth partnership. Select your PC, NOW Re-discover services on your PC!! If the correct port is selected on your PC, ActiveSync service should appear. If not, no sweat, just go back to the PC. Change the com port in the connection setting for Activesync. Now back on 8525 re-discover services on your PC. If you have to, just go down the list of com ports until you get the Activesync service to show up!!
Now here is the Kicker, when you get the active sync service and hit OK. Now try to ActiveSync via Bluetooth. if it come back with no partnership exists, just follow the screen prompts. select your PC with activesync service is checked....uncheck it, then re-check it. Now you should receive a warning about ending connection to conserve power. You are done!!
Good Luck!!
Stuart
Holy Crap it works..thanks a million scl_electronics, I had given up on the whole activesync & bluetooth. I saw the thread and said why not..let me try again. It was pretty much how you explained( there were some differences, using broadcomm stack). It is a little confusing, but hell it took me about 20 mins of fiddling around and now it works..Great Work
