Morning all,
I am fresh from installing WM6 onto my MDAIII Compact, UK T-Mobile
Really liking it, but as usual when flashing - it gets rid of my intellipad app. Now, before i put it back on, was wondering if there is a better input app around? I like intellipad because i have sausage roll fingers and the big keys help, as does the T9 input... but i also like the way the keyboard predicts words, and next words...
Any thoughts? Also - any other 'Must have' apps around?

I'm sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere (And yes I did look), but is there a way to set the touch keyboard to default to the "Touch Keyboard" where each character has its own button? On some screens it appears like that, but on others the "QU", "ER", etc share a key. It's really frustrating.
Thanks in advance!!!!!
try this cab

This is the cab to keep the 40 key "password" you will lose T9 and word prediction ..... do a registry backup.......this cab despite what ever it says WILL uninstall... the registry backup is just in case it can't be uninstalled. I pesonally have uninstalled and reinstalled many times without hard reset...Hope this helps

I didn't make it but codyppc did so give him kudos if you catch him out in cyberworld
This is for the touch keyboard on the touch

Another option
I like what timdawgdentist recommended because I did not know that there was the option available. However, I find the password keyboard a bit difficult to use myself, so I installed PCMKeyboard.

That PCMKeybord is really great. It's taking a while to get used to, but I certainly like it much more than any of the others that I've tried. Thanks!!!!!!!
I personally LOVE TouchPal keyboard, I was a fan with 1.0 and now with 2.0 it is that much better, Twice as better and easier to use. I use SIPChange to make that my default Keyboard. You should try it. You can type so freaking fast with it.

I have hard time text messaging with the native texting program that comes with the HTC Touch (Sprint/Vogue). I can't get the keyboard to disappear so that I can press the send bottom on the bottom of the page.
I like the SPB Fullscreen Keyboard with the black47 theme and PCM Keyboard with iPhone skins.
I tried TouchPal, Touch Keyboard and Keypad.
I prefer the touch keyboard from the least 3 i like.
but I mainly use the Fullscreen now but usually wind up switching around to the PCM. Sometimes predictive is good, sometimes I need to be precise
Can we "downgrade" to the WM5 on-screen keyboard layout? I dont like skins that waste room, I just want the good old fashion WM5 version I have used over the last 2 years back!
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Dan
*bump* thanks for any input....
Have I stumped this board?
The base Keyboard dll are pretty much the same in WM5 and WM6. If you don't like the skin used on your WM6, you can always cook a new rom from it and replace the keyboard related files - well that's basically the idea but on how to cook and what to replace a bit of research will have to be done of course
one can also just install the skin one wants and use that no building a full rom is required
Try this package, it includes the original white with black letters and alot of others. It should work with your cooked WM6 rom

I figured this out a while ago and forgot about this topic. I am replying to help any searches people may have.
Solved.
To change the keyboard layouts:
While in notes/messaging/email/etc (where you can write) press the arrow to the right of the keyboard. This will open up the menu.
Be sure thet "keyboard" has the dot to the right of it.
Choose "options"
On the first "Input Method" tab, simply choose "small keys".
This will add the numbers on the top row as well as a few other keys that are missing with the "large keys" option.
Hope this helps someone. Cheers,
Hello all,
Just received my Verizon TP2 and am in love. I've been playing with it for hours on end, installing many of the essential apps listed in the application thread.
I've come across a problem though. After installing an application (I can't for the life of me remember which one) the Touchflo keyboard which appears when you tap the keyboard icon at the center bottom part of the screen seems to have disappeared. It has been replaced with the standard WinMo keyboard which is much too small to use with your fingers. Any ideas how to revert to the Touchflo version?
Thanks all!
Disregard. Being a geek, I should have known the first step is to always reset the device first! First smartphone, and it's hard to start thinking of these things as computers!
I modified my VZW TP2 to give word suggestion and use the WM built in dictionary. I also installed Resco Keyboard and then uninstalled.
Now when I type and hit the space bar twice I don't have the "auto" period placement that I had when I first got the device.
Any ideas how to get it back?
Similiarly - anyone have any new news on modifying the built in WM dictionary for 6.1? I had a program that worked for 5.o but not for 6.0
Thanks
JC
I recently upgraded from a T-Mobile Wing to the T-Mobile TP2, and for the most part I am really appreciating the improvements in hardware and software.
One thing that is bugging me, though, is that when texting or writing an email on my Wing I would be offered a list of possible words after typing the first few characters. I could select one with the arrow keys, and then press space to accept. This made typing out messages much faster. Also, it would auto-correct certain words - like changing "i' to "I", or "adn" to "and".
I can't seem to find a place to turn these features on in my TP2.
It originally came with WM 6.1, but I have since upgraded with the official WM 6.5.
Any ideas?
Edit:
I should also mention that I am talking about using the hardware keyboard. I am aware that you can bring up the on-screen keyboard, select XT9, and close the on-screen keyboard - and then you will have word completion functionality, but the setting does not seem to be persistent.
Thanks!
It should work, just open up the keyboard in landscape mode and click the same XT9 key. If not go search for a registry change to have it default to that setting.

My point was kind of that I don't want to open the on-screen keyboard and select XT9. It becomes pretty unwieldy to add those steps every time I slide out the keyboard.
I was hoping that someone could point me to an option setting that I hadn't stumbled across.
It seems an odd bit of functionality to have been removed from the OS, so I was hoping that it was there, but not enabled - make sense?
Thanks for the tip, though

On my phone it was saving XT9 as the default for messages, even after a soft reset. I'm running Mighty Mike's 6.5 sense 2.1. Here is a possible solution (post 7):

Thanks,
My phone is not saving XT9 as a default at all. As soon as I open a new message it is back to ABC mode. I checked the setting in the link that you shared, but mine was already turned on. Seems to make no difference to the hardware keyboard.
Thanks again
