Just used SK-tools to change Font cache size to 2000 and File system cache to 0, this is the programs default settings for 'stability' and it seems to have eliminated the 'low storage' error when using TOMTOM.
Could this be a possible solution?
Could the error have something to do with the File system cache as when this was anything other than 0 I still got the error.
You can change these values manually with a reg editor - I can't remember the exact values but they will be somewhere on the wizard forum as it was an old fix to improve performance of the phone.
Can anyone else try this and see if the error goes away.
Fingers crossed it doesnt come back - using TOMTOM a lot this coming weekend so I'll post if the error comes back.

(great app has everything in it from backup to registry editor can highly reccomend)
No message "low memory" anymore
Hello!
I agree with macguffin, I've changed "text size" under settings/screen/test size (changed cursor one step to the left) and itseems that I haven't got this anoying "low memory" windows anymore. I usually use Mobile Navigator 6. Could someone confirm this ?
hmm, could be. As the default in all the WM5 roms ive seen is Zero. Well done. Time for me to try WM5 again, just which flavour
I can't set system cache to 0 - possible values are Auto, 1k, 2k, 4k, .... 8192k.
sELECT Auto, this will set it to off.
EDIT: Doesnt work, reduced the cache to 0, font cache to 2000, reset.
Turned cache off in registry, selected the stability options. Done all sorts and reset after each change and the memory issue is still present.
What device do you have? What else have you installed? What have you placed on your device? What size memory card do you have? What format is your memory card?
Those who are working (and I mean working after reboots and not just occasionally) can you post your device and what youve changed.
Please remember the issue occurs if you launch tomtom OR create a new word document and try to save. Tomtom it sometimes works but with word 100% it will fail saying there is no storage space.
I changed it. Didn't help...
TomTom works, but Word no.
I got the error back after a soft reset BAH
However if I go to system - memory and just look at the storage cards, check there size the error goes away again.
Does this happen to anyone else?
If it does maybe looking at the storage cards could be added to startup via a little app.
Cheers
Matt
just wondering if anyone has any today plugins showing available storage space? would this help the phone recognise the true available memory?? or..... what exactly did the memory card corruption fix do? maybe something to do with that??

Hi, my xda is functioning normally but when I soft reset my xda, I got the following error: Cannot find 'Storage'. After few seconds or a minute, it would be ok. What does it mean? Anyway to correct the error message?
Actually, thats pretty similar to an issue I'm looking at. The storage card doesn't seem to accessible sometimes after a soft reset or after the device has been in hibernation.
Just reformatted the SD as FAT32 and waiting to see if it is still a problem
I have sometime the same issue...but I think is a matter of the internal storage and not of the storage card..
Anyone every come up with a solution to this? I'm getting this Storage is not accessable every time I reset now.
I do not know how close my issue is to what you are facing, but I had that issue when I upgraded to WM5 and then downgraded to W2K3.
The only thing I did was to run the repartition tool (Repart_DOC.exe) and created a larger extended rom (16,000 was the number that I used).
And placed the files (cooked extended rom 1.4.125) in the extended rom, and hard reset the SX66, and the message went away...
I do not know how close this is, but I think that extended rom has something to do with the "Storage".
One more thing, there is a distinction between "Storage" and "Storage Card". The above method worked for me to gain access once again to the "Storage" and not the "Storage Card"
Yeah I'm on WM2005 now so technically there is no storage. I've been running fine for weeks but starting getting this a week or so ago on hard resets.
\storate missing
upgrading to rom v1.40 doens't seem to fix this, i thought it would
i'm on tech support of more than a hundred blueangels and it frustrates me to hardreset the device everytime this problem occurs .. any help will surely be appreciated.
another problem, 'permanent save' causes the bluangel to hang, so we had to do away with it.

In the Extended ROM - Delete RestartRadio.exe
and/or alter config.txt so it won't be started.
just do a manual Restart (flight mode)
And now you won't get the error anymore.
Hi,
Every so often TomTom on my orbit loses sight of the maps I have on my storage card. I can't see any reason for this and have to recover from a phone backup . Once the internal memeory of the phone is recovered the maps are then visible.
Any ideas on what may be getting corrupt?
Cheers,
Neil
No answers but join the club and email HTC Tech Support.

HTC P3300 loosing TomTom Maps
Me too. Italian OS. Once I even had to reactivate the map, after the restore. Last time that I launched TomTom receiving a msg of the type "Cannot find maps..." I just made the PDA restart with a soft IPL. Will you believe? At the restart TomTom didn't complain for any map missing.
Maybe it's a matter of low available memory when TomTom cannot locate maps.
Hope this might help you. Let us see, if anyone else is posting his experience.
Thanks for your comments.
Once TomTom loses it's maps, a soft rest wont allow it to see them, I just keep on getting the message and the opportunity to download a free one from the website.
I did a bit of playing around last night and can confirm that a hard reset then allows TomTom (installed on the Storage Card) to see the maps (I don't need to reinstall, just run the exe file) so it looks to me as if its something getting corrupt in the standard internal memory of the phone and that this is causing the loss of maps.

This is an SD card corruption issue. Email HTC to lobby for a fix. See the relevant thead.
I don't see that it's storage card corruption. If you read my last post you would see that the SC was left alone when a hard reset was performed. The hard reset would only affect the internal memory and that cleared the issue.
I think something is getting corrupted in the internal memory and not letting TomTom find the path to its maps. Maybe something is messing up a registry entry?
believe me. I have had this problem over 10 times in the last month. When the tomtom maps go missing, the map folder is usually empty. This can normally be rectified by softg-reseting the device which uses the backup FAT for the SD card (so I've read in the relevant thread) and restores the missing files. However, if the device attempts to write to the card again, after corruption (which TT does on application exit) then the card will be permenantly corrupted.

During a reset (hard or soft) WM5 will do a version of scandisk on any storage devices connected (Micro SD) which will try to fix FAT errors. So a reset does effect the SD card and can repair it.
OK RicardoC & debully, thanks for your advice.
I have already emailed HTC tech support a while ago. You know, I still think Resco file explorer may be the common link to my SD card woes..... I'll have to wait and see.
Cheers
Bluetooth possibly
Hiya,
I had this problem and it seemed to be linked to the bluetooth explorer setting a new storage card (virtual), if you get this problem go into settings and turn off bluetooth explorer and check what storage options are available from the memory settings, the bluetooth storage should have disappeared. Once I'd done this tomtom could find the maps again.
Hope this helps.... and you don't actually have SD problems....

thank you!
i have tryed that and it seems to do the bussiness
This also happens if you have Bluetooth Explorer activated in your Bluetooth settings.
TT6 losing maps, you are not alone.
I know this doesn't excatly help, but I don't think that this is unique to the artemis.
I have the same problem with TT6 on my himalya (XDAii). It seems to be linked to either phone S/W or BT stack as I have had it happen to me several times after I have made or received a call. My workaround is to remove and reinsert the SD.
Has any one checked if other handheld PC users have similar probs (HP?) with TT6?
I have used TT6 with no problems on X51v.
Only had the problem on the Orbit when the Bluetooth Explorer was activated.
Hi,
I had the same problem on my Orbit, never experienced the SD corruption though. I eventually solved the Map problem by following the instructions, not sure where I got them from, perhaps somewhere on this site.
The instructions stated the following:
1) create an empty file on your PC and name it 'autorun.exe'
2) create a directory named '2577' at the same level as your maps.
3) copy the empty autorun.exe file to the 2577 directory
this did the trick for me
Removed the Bluetooth explorer from the Bluetooth installing settings from the Comm manager and hey presto, maps are back.
Rock and Roll.
I have had my orbit for a while and has WM6. After about 15mins or so of continuous texting the whole thing just slows down completely (takes twice as long for functions to complete including inputting letters) until I do a soft reset. At that point if I try to access like settings it comes up with out of memory or something similar. I am beginning to suspect my 8Gb microsd card. Any ideas? Btw, no other programs are running in the background
Hi,
I had the same problem. It's a file in the Windows folder that keeps growing and growing. Mine ended up to be a whopping 26 Mb and clogged the main memory. It's a file that is related to the automatic word recognition while you're writing.
Youu'll have to enter the options of the keyboard and uncheck the corresponding option. Also you can hit the button right next to this option to erase all entries. And just to make sure, search the file in the windows folder (I forgot it's name, sorry, but you'll recognize it by its size) and erase the file.
Hope I could help you.
Thanks for your reply, I've just got rid of Wm6 and downloaded one the GW rom's so it's rectified the problem! But what file are you referring to in windows folder...I've looked through it and cant find anything to do with auto word recogntion???
I did NOT (for example) changed/upgraded ROM. I just put new 2GB SD card and scanned some folder on it in Today Player for mp3s. It hanged. So I restarted it, aaaand I can't get to my phone at all
Sometimes it gave me message with something about Voice Commands (and hanged) and now it just hangs on Today screen - bottom "buttons" (Calendar/Contacts) aren't displayed on the screen, but everything else looks "proper". It just isn't reacting to _anything_ (I mean keyboard or touch-screen).
update1: I just noticed that Calendar and Contacts _do_ appear for less-than-a-second then disappear - and at this moment system gets unresponsive
update2: the message that sometimes appear is: "Voice Command has encountered a problem. Restart Voice Command and try again.". I googled for it but nothin helpful.
HELP!
Of course I will probably try to perform some ROM upgrade, but... (for various reasons - don't ask) ...I didn't perform any synchronization. Is there any way to backup data (most important being Contacts and SMSes) ..before performing any ROM upgrade (and assuming it will going to work)... ((
Funny thing is: I was postponing ROM update (from current 6.0) for some time, because I didn't want to loose any data...
Have you checked your battery?
Are you sure you flashed a ROM according to your RAM capacity? (128Mb or 64Mb)
Have you done a hard reset?
Please have a deep read here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=549207 (post 2)
Hope it helped,
1. I did NOT flash the ROM. It happened "by itself". the only thing that I could suspect is TodayPlayer trying to read folders recursively and writing something in memory.. (some kind of buffer overflow?) ..damaging the content.
2. I don't want to loose my SMSes and Contacts, so I didn't try hard reset *yet*. It's the last resort and basicaly I would be willing to even desolder the memory to get the data from it - even loosing the phone. (yes. everyone -including me- will now say: if those data were so important - why didn't you made a backup? that's why I said in my post above: "don't ask")
Is there ANY way to get to those data from software that boots from SD card? I mean - when upgrading the ROM - is there any way to backup other-than-rom contents to SD card?
Sorry to ask a simple question, but can you connect via active sync, or is the system unresponsive to this too?
I don't know what 'Today Player' is, but it sounds like that it cached stuff to the main memory (maybe making a database of music files) and has filled it up without respecting to leave any memory for the OS to use.
no prob.
I tried that and apparently it freezes cold within that fraction of a second. computer reacts to "new device" but then ActiveSync hangs because it's already unresponsive...
Hello Fellows!
I just rooted my galaxy SIII, and now i've installed the avatar ROM. Everything is working wel, only i now have a problem that there seems to be something eating up free space. Only this is nowhere to be seen.
Windows also says that the internal memory on the phone has only 1,7gb of free memory. Only there is really nothing te be found responsable. Even if i manually flip through every directory there is.
Also on the phone itself is nothing that indicates large soms of space in use by anything. I attached a screenshot of the storage display in the settings menu. if you look at the graph on top, you can clearly see that the free space is almost everything of the 11,35 gb, only the indicator says there is only 1.7gb.
I googled my ass of, but i can't seem to find a solution. I sure hope enyone here does?
Greetings Marten.
Yes! I finaly fixed it!
I reinstalled the rom, but before i did, i just virtually executed every format option in clockwork recovery, exept format recovery and format external sd. This took care of it!
Then i got 11.10/11.35gb free!
Thanks for reading my post anyway
