Helloi have QTek 9000, and i plan to upgrad radio/rom, but i see on some website, some radio/rom request specific Bootloader version.
How can i check it ?
What are risk if bootloader upgrade fail ?
Put your Uni into Bootloader, and you'll see the version you've got ! Every upgrade can be dangerous and it's at your own risks (rom, radio, bootloader ...) ! But how live wihtout any danger
Thanks you
I have bootloader 1.0 then i can try radio/rom/extrom upgrade.
Yep...Just for information, I have the same version and i use the Rom WM6 of Laurentius v.4 but you can try the last one (v.7 with vidéocall) or another one
nearlly having my JJ 2yrs now, im still on bootloader 0.6 and still flashing new wm6 roms with no issues

im am going to update my xda2 but haven't decided on the rom version yet
currently i am on
rom 1.60.00wwe
radio 1.10.00
protocol 1337.18
extrom 1.60.50
it is the O2 XDA2 unlocked and using an orange sim card.
i was just going to get the O2 standard update but now i am on here and am tempted by the new 2003se rom. i still have detailed reading to do b4 upgrading but the questions i haven't found answered while scan reading are.
1.does it matter what bootloader version you have? (i have read conflicting reports about 1.06, how do u find what bootloader u are running?)
2.if i upgrade to the latest O2 rom will i have any additional problems if i then upgrade to WM 2003 SE at a later date.
3.O2 told me if i do the offical upgrade my orange sim wont work in it. I presume this is Bull ****?
i see that Sin and [Krueger]Dr.Stein have produced guides on how to upgrade and zeroextreme has produced an extended rom so it shouldn't be much of a problem following their instructons.
4. has anyone tried all the different varient ? if so did u think 1 was better than the other? have these been compared in another post?
5.i believe a while back there was 1 rom that was considered the official unoffical rom is there a newer 2003 se rom like this?
my main reason for upgrading is i can't send mms messages and i just like being ahead of the game.
after much trawling the net and speaking to orange data support i need to upgrade to the latest O2 Rom. at first i thought this was just orange incompetence but i really have tried a lot of stuff now gprs works fine but mms is a no go.
im off now to continue reading thanks for any responses

Hi all,
i am thinking about upgrading to one of the WM6 Roms from this forum.
There are some doubts I am thinking about:
Do i have to flash the Bootloader to HardSPLv7 when i only plan to flash the OS?
The background is that i am running on Radio 1.32.00.00 after flashing with the official new ROM 2.04.162.1 from Vodafone.de and dont want to change anything despite the OS, because this Radio works fine for me!
And for varanty purposes i dont want to change anythin other then the OS.
As i figured out from the upgrade guides, the new Bootloader is only needed when also upgrading the Radio. Am i wrong?
I think the WM6 Roms also work fine eith other Radios and Bootloaders, isn't it?
Also i want to know if Vodafone Live! is (incl. Video Streaming) is working fine with the WM6 Roms?
Thanks for your help,
Hype2k

Yes you need to flash the bootloader to flash the OS. Your radio won't change.
Thanks
Ok thank you for that information.
Does anyone know if Vodafone Live! and MobileTV is working with WM6 Roms?
AnyOne tried yet on the Vodafone Network (or even Vodafone.de network)?
Thanks in advance,
Hype2k
You can flash only OS, but you would be foolish to NOT flash HardSPL 7.
I didn't think any of the vodafone live stuff worked on these things due to the browser and the coding of the site. Mind I've only tried it on vodafone uk. whenever I try and browse I just get a blank screen, buy I have an htc tytn noy a VF branded one.
Video calling works fine by the way if that's any help.
Hi everyone,
I've just upgraded my (french) Diamond's HardSPL with the OliNex version found in the topic "Hard-SPL or how I learned to stop worrying and love the MPU". Everything was OK at this time so I booted and HTC "reinstalled" the TF3D interface files.
Everything is still working but when I tried (several times) to upgrade the Radio version to v1.00.25.05, the program stays at 0% for 3 minutes and then gave me the 262 update error. I tried to connect my Diamond to different USB ports but didn't change anything.
So I decided to download the official update from HTC website and install it (witch I did) but this update doesn't work too (same error)
The strory is not so bad because my Diamond is still working but I want to install an unofficial ROM...
PS: sorry for my english and thanks for your help
@tompim
The first post in the radio thread is worth reading carefully:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407956
I suspect that your problem is that you need one of the unsigned / developer hardspls for standalone radio upgrades and you are using one of the "signed hardspls"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408621
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400950
Thank you very much for your explanation (i read the radio thread before strarting ).
In fact I want to install the Diamond Project Rom that need theses (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408621) HardSPL version but I don't know what version number choose (I tried with the 1.34 and the same problem appeared
To remove all doubt and be able flash virtually any rom, flash the developer edition unsigned Hard-SPL from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400950. It should do the trick for you.
Works like a chrarm thanks!
I've been going through many topics recently on flashing the diamond.. but iam a lil bit lost since my diamond is not a standard version.
in India, HTC launched the diamond through Airtel (a leading cellular operator) which is only a triband version !
only GSM/EDGE/GPRS NO UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA
i tried to download the official ROM update from htc.com , but on entering my serial number, it says the update does not support my device !
and there arent any update available on the Indian version of their site.
My device info:
ROM version: 1.37.720.2 WWE
ROM date: 06/16/08
Radio version: 1.00.25.03
Protocol version: 52.26a.25.09G
so my question is.. can i use those ROMs which are flying around ? or is it just the radio which i should be careful about ?
is the quadband support limited only through software (like the hardware already supports everything ? ) ?
ofcourse its a locked version, can i update the ROM and debrand it to the original version ? (unlocking it)
i highly appreciate anyone who could guide me on this
I too have the same questions... I too would like to have a faster diamond (1.93)
To install ROM on your diamond -
Install Hard SPL developers edition
Update Radio 1.00.25.05
Flash any ROM you want !
Guys please perform a simple search before posting a new topic .
Here's a big thread on INDIAN 2G diamond
Thanks a lot udayrulz for your response.. i hardly noticed that big thread on Indian 2G diamonds, sorry for that.
since iam new to this (iam not a total newbie, just new to the windows mobile flashing stuff, so hopefully i can grasp everything quickly) , can you point me in the right direction as to which version of Hard SPL i should use ? a search revealed lot of threads with lots of versions.. iam seriously lost !
and do you personally suggest any ROM ? (assuming you are also using the indian diamond)
TA
Use Olipro' Unsigned Hard-SPL first. Then flash the Radio to 25.05 and further on, its your choice..
Regards,
Carty..
Thanks everyone.. i think iam on the right track.. been trying different ROMs and tweaks. everything seems good so far
kudos to the community !

flashing wont unlock your Airtel Diamond, there are some ways by which you can do that.. search for diamond cid unlock.
i unlocked it by buying a code from htccode.com !
But would an unlocked phone get locked after using Hard SPL and updating the Radio and Rom?

Nope.. it wont !
I would like to install the new Feb 09 ROM from HTC. My Compact IV is from last August and Im just so fed up with the slowness and reception... but I dont want to brick it as I still have a year contract left (thats why never cooked anything) however I feel I could trust the ROM straight from HTC(?) This also seems to pretty straight forward to do.
...but Please let me know
- Is the installer 'PDA Phone ROM Update Utility 3.27.4.3' that comes with it safe to use?
- No need to hardSPL etc.. stuff?
- Will there be any issue as Compact IV is locked to T-Mobile?
Appreciate help... love my compact IV!!
Just to add to my post
I used the S/N in the other thread: ht824gn13492 to download the ROM from HTC. HTC didnt allow to do it with Compact IV's S/N. I hope thats ok... Think the ROM version downloaded is 2.03.405.3.
Thanks
...
I have compact IV too and I am using 2.03 roms (htc and cooked) without problems. You need hardspl to flash these roms (i have olinex 1.93). And I recomend you to flash rom by internal method. Good luck
What do you mean with 'internal method'?
And even if install straight from HTC, still need hardSPL?
Thanks!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2707841&postcount=4035
Read this about flashing from internal storage.Mainly the second paragraph. And I thing that you need hardspl for any other rom except tmobile stock one.
I hope that will help you
hardspl
Thanks for your help. Just one more question: does your last comment mean T-mobile original ROM doesnt require hardSLP. Or better I install it anyway?
Thanks!!
Yes.Only (Tmobile CZ in my case)stock rom from your mobile operator
copilot
I think I will try install straight the official HTC ROM. I read somewhere else thread if updating official ROm you shouldnt use any HardSPL(?) Im not exp with this, and dont want to risk my phone...
I wonder will this affect the Copilot 7 installed by T-Mobile? i know its on the interanl memory (4GB) but were some parts in the phones memory that will be wiped away? dont want to loose it!!!
you cannot install the Official HTC ROM without HardSPL is what gajdik means.
Because your phone is T-Mobile branded (like mine) you can ONLY install T-Mobile ROMS, all others will fail (even official htc roms), to bypass this you must hardspl
Thanks... understand now.
What about Copilot, will I loose it? (does it have something in registry etc that will disable it, as the ROM is not from T-mobile?)
thanks

Yes this is what i mean
I have preinstaled tomtom 7 by tmobile and it works after rom update. But I am not sure about copilot...
Hi all,
I'm new to all this. I've got hold of the new HTC Rom that I want to put on my Compact IV, but can anyone give me a version of Hard SPL to use?
I can't seem to get any of the versions i've found so far to work!
Thanks in advance!
What version of stock rom do you have? And what versions of hardspl you tried?
I've got 1.37.110.3 WWE (the standard one that came from T-Mobile) and i'm trying to flash 2.03.405.3 (the feb 09 update from the HTC website)
I think i've managed to get the Olinex Hard SPL 1.30 onto the phone, but can't seem to make any progress.
Try upgrade to tmobile stock 1.93 rom and then try 1.93OliNex_HSPL_Unsigned from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2312363&postcount=2
This works for me

Thanks, I skipped the tmobile stock stage and it worked a treat with 1.93olinex and the latest HTC rom. I think you saved my sanity!
your welcome. Now I'ts time to bed for me
