New Live Messenger

Here is the latest Live Messenger Beta, You must uninstall the old one before install.

Do you have the smartphone version?

Very awesome guys, ive tried it and works 100%...
Only problem is that it interfears with the Text messages. It doesn't allow them to send every now and again.. It's not happening anymore though..
Did this happen to anyone else?

as black 2.0 is not a beta it has the full version of Live....

It still makes you wonder why another beta has been released after black 2.0
The registry in Black 2.0 still points to a beta URL for server token so my guess would be that Live in any current OS would get updated via Windows Update at proper launch but Live in Black does seem pretty final.

both url's are still in beta ... i had this confirmed by a mate.... but the Live apps and dll's in LSVW's lastest ROM and Black 2.0 are RTM (Release to Manufactor)

i'm using MW6 Pro Black 2.0
used GPRS and USB cable connection.. i can browse, live mail folders are syncd,
removed the check from sync options for contacts and messenger and tried getting online.. but its still a no go.. zero contacts on my list... but if i tried to add a contact it says that the contact is already on my list.

you mean Blackberry Connect... it works without HexEdit on WM6 Builds 5.2.1238 (17745.0.2.3)
other WM6 builds have to be edited to either the Version above or 5.1.195

Messenger is not supported on BBC 4.x

I wonder if they could port the chat-like text app from the Blackberry. The chat style log is better than what we have in our Hermes.

Actually, I have a CAB for Palm SMS Threader which works great in almost every ROM, BUT, Black Shadow only because the ROM has SMS and MMS compiled into one folder so when you use the Threader app you lose the option for MMS, and I can't live w/o that! Hopefully someone will fix that, or make one for that ROM. Check out "Palm SMS Threader". I started a thread a few pages ago with a CAB in it, but get the CAB posted on like page 3 cause it's condensed by someone and works the same. Just a smaller file.

don't think there is one. Softbank are very hard to get MMS working (if that's what you're after). Try looking for Itame's posts on here or the Upgrading Forum. He knows quite a bit about Sofbank!!

Softbank has MMS working on the X01HT some time ago. There is no English translation though. Download link for the MMS Cab is here:

There are is an easier way though to have MMS functionality.

I know that Webpage. But you need to have a Softbank ROM to download the CAB, and I don't have one! That's the reason I'm asking for it.
Also, if anybody can post the "My Softank for X Series" URL maybe I can manage to Download it.

strange, I downloaded it a while ago. I think I still have somehwere th cabs.

@chainbolt - How is the S!Mail program? I heard it was slow and stupid, so I never really tried it out. Is it worth trying? I am currently using MMSLite.

well, I have heard the same. As I am using a non-SoftBank Hermes here in Japan with an English ROM, I have never tried it. It anyway would not work on my Hermes because you need a Japanese based ROM to run it. I just download it out of curiosity. It's a big software package. I am using MMSLite (+ CEStar to get the Japanese fonts) without any problem since many months.

I wonder, which mmslite build are you using?
I am using 265 and it runs without locking up. I have used 275 as well, and like the extra options it gives, but have heard it locks up sometimes. Apparently there is also a 292 somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it. I have been googling around, but haven't run across it yet. Any opinions/experiences from your end on mmslite builds?

I am also using 265 +CeStar, works like charm. I have tried once 275, but it did not install properly. I think 265 is the most stable version.
By the way, I found the "SoftBank Mail.cab" . If somebody wants it here, give me your mail address.

The only difference I have found bewteen 265 and 275 is the following: Sometimes someone will send you an MMS using your phone number instead of your email address. In 265, if you reply using the number, it gives you a reply stating that POP3, IMAP accounts cannot be used to send SMS. In 275, it looks up the number in your contacts list and gives you the opportunity to change the number to an email address.
Also, upon further research, it seems that build 280 and 292 are malware of a sort. Apparently, people install them and they wipe the password to the Softbank connection - and that's all it does.
Sounds like pretty weird malware if you asked me, but that's the scuttlebutt.

I understand. But I don't know why it is so hard to get. I don't speak/read Japanese well, and I have been struggling to find it through the web -- either on my PC or on my X01HT. I've never used "My Softbank" and I don't have a "My Softbank for X Series" favorite URL link in PIE anymore (I deleted all the preloaded favorites that I didn't think I would use). I found something that looked like My Softbank (it was mostly Japanese) on my X01HT, but it looked like the page was built for PC, not mobile phone . . . and it looked like I needed to enter a ID/PW. Do you have to enter a User ID to get into My Softbank for X series?

i also tried once photocontacts pro and although it has many usefull features i gave up using it... because it made my device very slow when it came to ringing... even with the clear rom it takes a lot to ring... with PC Pro the thing got worse... is the same with you or is somthing with my device (M3100)....

This is photocontacts pro 3.0, meanwhile theres V 5.0 available...
I used photocontacts pro before and I was very satisfied with it. Of course you have to install the program itself AND all of your ringtones in the main memory, then it will not slow down your device. You can find it here:

As already mentioned its a very old version. And it is not freeware, its a testversion sponsored by MS, running for 90 days. So I recommend to everbody who wants to test photocontacts pro to use the newest one from www.pocketx.net.

@doozerbob: what cab file did you install?

i used activesync to install it, tried version 3ish and got not valid, tried version 4ish and the demo worked fine, tried version 5ish and it wouldnt even start up, but im presuming thats because of my fone having veeery old firmware

Windows Live Mobile 10.8 available on marketplace

Hello all,
I saw that you can download for free (using the new application "marketplace", in WM 6.5) the new version of Windows Live. They claim it's 10.8, it results as 10.7.0057 after installation.
It is quite a big improvement: there's finally a nice home screen, and it is possible to browse people's profiles in Live as well as browse and upload photos.

I installed the new windows live from the marketplace and it broke the stuff on my HD.
Now when I try to start the messenger/live, I get the error message
"WLMMessenger is not a valid Pocket PC application".

I had that too. Soft reset should resolve it. It seems its caused by using a new kind of installation method.

I don't know anything about new features/functions or bugfixes etc., but the layout is definitely changed.
It looks more like the Windows Live Messenger on the computer. New icons, new notification-images and the window-background have been slightly redesigned.
Nice improvements, but not necessary for using messenger on your mobile. In the conversation-window almost nothing has changed.

With this new version... when in chat is very difficult to write with stylus... I need press with more strong on the keyboard

No problems over here. Works the same as usual.

I have the same errormessage with the marketplace version on Touch Pro 2 (Windows Mobile 6.5). Cab-versions works.
