To force the top/bottom bars to glossy black, look in the Windows folder on your device and launch JJ's basehue.exe, then as if by black magic.......

I don't particularly like the look so I want to revert back. Anyone know how?

Remove glossy bars?

I'm not a fan of the glossy bars on my Schaps ROM, does anyone know how to remove them? It seems that all the posts related to glossy bars present themselves as people who want glossy bars instead.
Help would be appreciated as I've been hacking the registry for hours with no avail...
if you remove the glossy bars they will return to appearing flat (no bubble effect).. some themes out there achieve this. i usually delete those themes cuz i like the 3d bubble effect.

Chome help!

My CHome must be bad, whatever color I select the transparent panel on the sliding panels are always blue. Now that I'm trying to switch away from a blue theme I got this annoying blue semi transparent square.
I even tried to edit the Sliding panel XML file and it is set to transparent yet it comes out blue.
I installed the CHome slim 2 version but I always get the darn blue. Can anyone help me please?

Sounds like you have nrg's blue panels, try installing a different dll file to change the panels back to transparent or whatever variation you want.
I tried, don't know what happened there.
I ended up resetting the phone, now it works, just gotta spend 3 hours to get everything where it was, what a pain...

I think what you guys need is this editor. It's simple to use. Just install in storage card and use it to make your top, bottom or curtain fully transparent.
P/S: I install to Device because I have to re-install it whenever I upgrade or Hard reset. Dont know why.
Enjoy mates

Those Black bars (glossy button effect) is part of the Dusk WM6.5 theme. You will not be able to install this on your stock HTC ROM (AFAIK)

I feel your frustration. It seems nobody can read anymore (or at least takes the time to read fully)
Everyone here is off on a tangent trying to tell you how to make your curtains transparent LOL

Anyway back on track CLYDEB1 you seem to know your stuff, I have the dusk theme installed I have the 2.1 version with no problems although I do not have the same bottom bars as in the above pic (soft keys) is this because of 2.1 ?

You need to install Dusk 6.5 Theme.zip as well.
Unzip the file and add the contents to \My Documents\Themes\Dusk (make sure it reads this way only - no lower level or will not work) and then go to Today settings and select one of the themes. It works well on R9 (no issues with Manila 2.1). Do not change the background picture however to those included in the theme as this causes these black bars to be duplicated.
There are some added benefits of this theme, it changes the scroll bars to a nice glossy black and changes the highlights in most screens from that terrible green which makes it impossible to read the contents to a nice deep black.

You can try with nuenobar1.3 or 2.0, it depends on your ROM I think. For me (TouchHD and WM6.5 ROM) it doesn't work... Maybe you can have more chance.

If you are on WM6.5 try the Dusk theme from my link posted above. It works.
I already have Dusk Theme and it's ok.
I'm sorry I thought that the topic of this thread was the cancelation of the Black Bottom Bar... And I suggested NueNoBar 1.3 or 2.0. It's a mistake, sorry.

No problem. It is not that clear I guess as to whether the OP wants to add or remove the bars. I assumed as they are running on the standard ROM that is was to add rather than remove the bars???

dark grey area behind icon text?

Are you talking about the "highlight" when you hold on an app?
As far as I know, that can be changed by the Themes.
Try a different theme and see if you like the change.
You might have to make up your own theme if there is no theme with a "no highlight" option.
Not 100% sure though.

You need to change focused_application_background.9.png (in Launcher.apk/res/drawable) to a clear graphic. From here it is an easy metamorph. You will want to search and read about .9.pngs before doing this though.
I believe you are talking about the text under the Icons, that has the dark oval background behind the white letters, right?
If so I am not sure if there is a way to change it yet, and have yet seen anyone do it.

I am fairly certain that can be changed using the colorchange.jar java app for cyanogen roms. I use it to give my theme white letters on a black background throughout. It seems to change the oval to black also, and thus can be changed. Here is the problem, it is tied into many other colors in the OS, and so it will not be possible to just change that color.

Disable transparent status bar

I can't be the only one that thinks the new transparent status bar/tile screen is hideous! In some cases it resembles screen burn, which is not at all attractive, and I see no practicality of it. I was hoping some of my substratum themes would mask it or at least make it less transparent, but I haven't found anything.
Anyone found a way to disable it/revert to the older visual theme?
