Alarm not working until reboot - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Hi,
I've noticed a couple times tha the alarm doesnt sound on my phone until I reboot it with the reset button on the side. Its a little troubling as I'm using it as an alarm clocl while away from home on business.
Has anyone else had this proble, any ideas on a fix ?
Cheers
nid

I had this too.
Now I'm using SPB Time and have no troubles at all.

Seems to be a problem with duplicate or hanging notifications. They can get messed up by adding/amending/deleting appointments on the device and the PC then syncing. Try MemMaid which includes a cleaner for these as well as other useful stuff - free eval!

Alarm signal doesn't go off

I've a P3300. Thank's to you all I solved my sd corruption. Thank'sssss!
But this morning my alarm went on the time that I put in, but now I can't stop it any more. It keeps on going about every minut. I already treid a soft reset, but that didn't helped. As soon as I put the pda back on again, the alarm goes!. Than i went to the page for the alarm settings. Put the alarm off and even put off: Sounds playing, where you can choose the alarm sound. But it keeps on going. HTC told me that only a hard reset will work...But for sure I'm awake now! How do I solve this problem?
i am experiencing the same issue on my p3600, after soft reset the alarm is on and i cannot dismiss it. the led flashes orange like if it is on. tried scarybear's CheckNotifications but that did not help =(
Same problem with my 9090
I´ve the same problem with my 9090. Resolution for the 3rd time -> HARDRESET.
Does anyone knows how to solve this?
Thankx
QTEK 9090
Windows Mobile 5.0
Hint
I have the same problem. I've found a workaround by going into "Settings", "Sounds and notifications" and uncheck the box for "Notifications" then the alarm stops after a soft reset ...
HTC P3300 - WM5
Solution
Use this software. It´s free for 15 days i think.
DinarSoft MemMaid
After instalation go to MemMaid instaled in programs and verify the repeated Notifications and clean them.
Be carefull. I´ve cleaned all notification and my active sync stopped synchronising, so hard reset resolves 99% of the problems.
O2 Orbit Alarm problem
I am facing the same problem, I tried after soft reset. I have unchecked the alarm time, but it keeps on alarming on the previous set time.
Any one have solution for this please let know. I did not Hard Reset.
Dam I've the same problem, this is starting to smell a bug in HTC rom, or conflict with another software. Hard reset i believed that it works, but I don't want to do it for now.
But after check this forum I read somewhere that maybe SKTOOLS can work this out. Theres an application of this software that search for Notification Queue, and the first on the list was something like this:
\\.\Notifications\NamedEvents\MshellFWakeup{E50DADFF} ,
I've deleted this one, now I have to wait until tomorrow 7am to see if this can do the job, meanwhile I have another question for all you that have the same problem.
Does any of you have this problem after using alarm set of SPBMobile Shell 1.5 ?
I believe this was the source of this problem.
Regards,
Rui
IT WORKS.... uiii at last I've been able to sleep a little bit more without having the crazy alarm boring me first thing in the morning ....
YES
I've got the same problem. Very annoying indeed. I am still in the free trial period of SPB Mobile Shell. I never had this problem before I installed it, and the first time I set an alarm using the normal WM alarm method, I get this really annoying alarm that won't go away, comes back immediately after a soft reset and only goes away after using oxios hibernate and closeapps.
I'll delete the mobile shell (I've decided not to use it anyway) and see if that does the trick!
I had the same problem on my P3350 The trick that solved it was installing (and regularly running) Memmaid.
Chz.

I think the solution with Memmaid worked. I've cleaned up all notifications connected with "clock". The alarm doesn't turn on after reboot (great!!). Now let's wait till the next time it is supposed to alarm me in the morning to see if it REALLY worked.
I also had same problem for a few days & resolved it using montlhery's workaround.

Just to be clear: after the soft reset, I turned on "Notifications" again. When the time past, the alarm did not ring.
Thanks for your help.
25-Sep-2007: The problem is back with a vengeance and soft rebooting doesn't help.
26-Sep-2007: Memmaid did the trick.

Old alarm times being held

I have a hermes with black satin and it runs stable. The problem I have been finding is that I change the alarms and they work well. The problem is that the alarm continues to go off at the time the first alarm was previously set to.
This is a very strange thing to happen. The only thing in the settings I have been changing on a semi regular basis is the date and time region when travelling.
I have tried turning off all alarms by not having any days highlighted, the program tells me the alarm will not function yet at 7.30am I will get an alaram sound..
Does anyone know where in the registry the alarms are kept?
Cheers,
you have to cleanup the notification queue.
try this tool attached or dotfreds task manager
thanks for that download. Unfortunately I screwed something up and lost the ability to ActiveSync...
Just reloading now..
Beware playing with things you don't know about, kids!
cheers,

Phantom Alarms (Alarm goes off randomly & won't stop)

All,
I am running the v23 ROM and have the following problem.
I had an alarm set for 07:15am Pacific Time US. I got a SIM error on my t-mobile service (phone was showing gprs, but no support) for a while. Looked to be a t-mobile issue. Anyhow that got resolved. I disabled the alarm (no bell shone on home screen, alarm1 disabled, alarm 2 disabled). However it didn't really disable. So now I am in Florida and it goes off at 10:00am every day. There is nowhere that I can find to reset this. It is kinda like having a phone with Tourette's syndrome it shouts and screams at immorpotune times. Any ideas how to locate the offending alarm and nuke it?
Thanks

Dang. That sounds like the "phantom alarm" issue with 6.0. This is the first case I've heard of in 6.1... I don't use rickwyatt's ROM, so I don't know what apps it has included. Does it use Oxios Alarms?
AHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, I had to let it out. I'm sick and tired of this DAMN ALARM myself. Seriously, it starts SCREAMING, LITERALLY at the most random times especially in important settings. Last week, I was in University in my class when a group was presenting and out of nowhere, my phone starts going crazy. It was so embarassing because it's so LOUD and the entire class kept staring at me and i couldn't get it to switch off. Eventually, I turned it off but then 15 mins later, it happened again. It's honestly getting very annoying cause it keeps happening randomly even when the alarm's off.
I know how to fix it and I did fix it but it still happens. I have no idea how to get rid of it forever because honestly, it's the most annoying thing when it starts going crazy in class/meetings or anywhere other than your house.
If I find a fix for it, I'll post it here.
I think this is an error in the programming , but there may be a way to (band-aid) fix it. Meaning it will come back but you can continually fix it using this program. Go and find SK Tools (lite version) and theres an option to clear out alarms and notifications. That should (band-aid) fix it.

Yeah, That's what I've done but it keeps happening still. It doesn't happen for a few days then bam, it comes back. It really is annoying. Oh well...

I am going to see what I can do by checking out the registry and hopefully I will get back to you guys asap.
ok, guys I don't know how many of you are experiencing this Phantom Alarm issue but it seriously is bothering me.
I'm running Kavana's 6.1 ROM and used SK Tools to delete notifications from the notifications queue. Even though, I deleted all alarms - I still experienced the same issue today morning. Instead of 8 to 10 popups, i had only 2 so atleast, that's better but seriously it's PRETTY ANNOYING!!!
I'm going to look into this and try posting a fix. If someone came across a permanant fix, please post here. Thanks.

OMG! I just checked the notifications queue again. The DAMN alarms are back again. I just deleted them last night. Jeez
So far, I've only found one fix and that is using SKTools. I don't know how to get rid of these for good.
I'm going to try again, delete them - reboot and see if they come back. Hopefully not. If not, I'll have to look for an another way to fix this damned bug.
EDIT: WHT THE HELL?! I deleted them again and same issue, their back. AHH, this is really getting to me because it goes off in my university classes, during lectures/exams (even when the phone is on silent) and even if the alarm is turned off. It's happened before so it's not the ROM, I have Kavana's ROM and I've experienced this with WM6 as well. Ok, I seriously need another way to fix this. Yeah, I know I can shut the phone but what about the other times I have it on? This is annoying.
I wish someone could get to the bottom of this. I heard about the problem with WM6.0, so I never set alarms, just in case.
I've already used the alarms once with WM6.1, figuring it was a non-issue, but I'll definitely wait on using them again until someone says this issue is resolved.
So far, I haven't experienced any phantom alarms with Ricky v23 yet.
Bro, I'm runnning Kavana's ROM for a while now and this started happening since 2 weeks. I never had this issue before and I've checked everything and it just won't go away. I shouldn't have set any DAMN alarms. It's so damn annoying.
I'm still looking for the fix. I've only come across only one fix so far and it's the SkTools and for some reason, even if I delete them - it comes back again.

I don't think this issue is as prevalent in 6.1 as it was in 6.0. I'm using Kavana's 080408 which comes with Oxios Alarms embedded in the ROM. I haven't had to delete the Notification Queues in SKTools once. However, when I did delete the Queues in 6.0, it fixed my alarm bug permanently.
Ok guys, good news. I just checked my notifications queue in SKTools and the damn bug is GONE and hope it's gone forever. Give this a try - Here's the instructions:
Phantom Alarm Bug
There is a reported issue of multiple alarms going off even though the alarm is turned off in Settings. There is no known permanent fix at this point.
Phantom alarms can be cleaned up by following these instructions:
1. Load SKTools Smartphone Edition (Clean up and uninstaller utility)
2. Select View -> Maintenance -> Notifications Queue
3. Scroll to the bottom of the list and there should be multiple entries already checked for “Clock.exe”.
4. Select Action -> Delete marked
5. Do a soft reset (turn off then back on).

Wiki'd....until your alarm goes off again
That would be wonderful, but when I download the SK Tools, it comes in as an invalid zip file. Grrrrrr
Been running kavana wm 6.1 since feb with no phantom alarm problems. I would get the phantom alarms within 1 week of flashing the old 6.0 rom. I change what time I get up almost every day. Plus I change the second alarm maybe 3times a week. It has never acted up so far.... I don't really use the reminders for appointments maybe that's why. Maybe you did not flash the rom before you upgraded. If you synched with your computer and then erased the memory after upgrading to the current rom. I believe that would fix any problems you were having. Ricky's has a nice keyboard selector on first boot so you might want to upgrade.
My phone running WM5 started doing it too. Never used the alarms until a recent trip, and unfortunately I chose the Dog Bark sound. Man it's annoying. (which is the whole point of an alarm, but it shouldn't go off if it's set to disabled)
Not so phantom just late?
Im using 6.1 040408 remade by rickywatt and my alarms seem to wake up late...? I set the alarm and the icon is on the screen the phone is on normal profile with the volume on not silent or anything and then its off to sleep, only to discover the next morning that my alarm was a no show... sometimes as soon as I press a key the alarm starts ringing... other times nothing. I checked out the posts on alarm problems but i have not found this problem.... any ideas?
S-K-Tools Worked to Remove Phantom Alarm
I just bought "SKTools Best maintenance toolkit" to remove a Phantom Alarm from my HTC Touch Pro2 that was going off every morning at 4am...and am happy to report that it worked.
Once the software was downloaded and installed I ran a clean-up of the Notifications Queue to "delete duplicates". Note that the free trial version wasn't enough. As reported below, "Clock.exe" is the correct item name to delete, but in my case, there was no time showing up in the time column for the phantom alarm so I couldn't tell which one it was.
Finally, I've been very impressed with all the other stuff I can easily do with this product to clean the garbage out of my phone. Hopefully this will translate into better performance in the days ahead.

Help! My alarm won't turn off...

Every day - no matter what I do - the alarm goes off at 7:20
There is no alarm checked or set...
I cleaned up the notification queue in dotfreds task manager then reset - and still the same thing this morning!
Any ideas?
i had the same problem a while back but never found a solution. ended up reflashing the rom
flash the rom for alarm
Ouch...
Anyone here figure out how to fix this without flashing... I'd rather not flash - obviously...
Sigh
I had the same problem. It seems that the alarms notifications get messed up from time to time. I used SKTools to fix the problem. It is freeware, and there is a pretty decent write up of how to use it to fix that very problem.
Same prob on my dopod running wm6 - hard reset was the only way I could get rid of it. Doesn't seem to do it since I've been using wm6.1
The other thing I noticed is it only happens when you miss the alarm & your phone is locked at the time... do this a few times in a row and bingo.

WM6.5 alarm clock not always working

Using stock ROM (Vodafone) and the in-built alarm clost doesn't always work... not sure why, as it's random.
Anyone else got the same problem, or better still a reason why it's not working?
I am using a custom wav sound, which is large (attached) - but without it the alarm just doesn't wake me up!
The build-in alarm of WM is unreliable since it's birth.
Long, long time ago, when I overslept once more, I bought pTravelAlarm.
A few bucks and your problem is over.
(But there are also free alarms like Klaxon.)
I have not had any problems with the alarm actually going off. However, I have noticed that it will sometimes play not only the alarm sound but also the "reminder" sound. I'm not sure why this is and it doesn't seem to happen every day. I would suggest trying a smaller sound file or maybe set up a test of the alarm and your custom sound during some time when you can observe it. Perhaps you can see if there are any special conditions that make it not go off (other programs running, checking email or something, etc...)
I am having the same problem all of a sudden
It always worked on 6.1 (and some custom ROMs)
It worked on the official 6.5 ROM
I installed Tomtom and alarm stopped working. I removed it and the alarm worked. I installed some other apps (.NET 3.5, email scheduler, timesynctz, flitsnav) and the alarm stopped working. I haven't been able to pin it down on 1 app. I removed them one by one but the problem now persists...
I have had the same problem. Woke up to late and looked at the screen where it said that he couldn't connect to the internet (probably to sync my email). When I pressed ignore, the alarm went off, email came in etc.
Maybe it better to use Klaxon or G alarm...
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\Sounds]
“Repeat”=dword:00000001
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{15F11F90-8A5F-454c-89FC-BA9B7AAB0CAD}]
"Options"=dword:4000001B
Ok, what does that code snipit (registry settings) actuall mean/do???
Same thing here... alarm sometimes fails to go off. I have noticed when it happens that the clock is locked up and is not at the current time. Also the top left of the screen says "messaging" instead of "Start"
I've noticed the messaging deal pop up from time to time for no particular reason... and when it does the clock stops keeping time. I think the fact that the clock stops is the only reason the alarm fails to go off. Any button or screen press will unfreeze the clock.
This is on a TP2 T-Mobile official 6.5 rom. Reflashed several times, and problem always returns. Unsure if it happened on the original shipped rom.
I've had issue and changed to SPB Time, never had an issue there.
Are you sure your phone wasn't locking up in the middle of the night? I have had that happen, the Blank Screen of Death locks me up, the phone just sits idle and alarms don't go off.
has anyone tried the registry settings of HD2Owner? You have to add the new settings? How does it work?
