SOLUTION: How to disable the Xpress Mail Warning about Roaming - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

To those of you who are experiencing the annoying warning message about Roaming Charges when manually trying to retrieve Xpress Mail, here is the solution:
Add this to your registry:
Code:
Key: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\ShowRoamWarning
Value: DWORD:0
I don't know if you need to, but I powered down, waited 10 seconds, and powered back up after making the change. Worked flawlessly!
I got this little tidbit from the nice folks at SEVEN, who produce Cingular's Xpress Mail application.
Now, I don't know two things about this, so use it at your own discretion...
1) This might (and probably DOES) blanketly turn off all warnings about roaming ... even if you REALLY ARE ROAMING. So if your plan doesn't include free roaming, you might not wish to make the change
2) It might also blanketly turn off the warning message for any other email type, not just Xpress Mail. I do not get the warning for my other accounts, so I am not sure of the behavior in regard to this.Anyway, another minor annoyance out of the way for me. Hope I've made some other people here smile today as well.
-pvs

that worked like a champ! to think such a simple solution evaded us all so long thanks again!

Worked great... Thank you for getting the fix... No more warnings

I imagine this is the same flag to use for pop mail in general (I'm using outlook to retrieve mail).
One question: Does anyone know if this affects just the alert and still limits the email retrieval when it thinks you're roaming?
---
Update: The answer to my question is that the phone still things I'm roaming and doesn't automatically download emails, but at least when I do manually retrieve emails, I don't get prompted to proceed while roaming.

Text Message every time I get Voice Mail

On my unlocked Dash I get a text message everytime I get a voice mail, does anyone know how to turn this off? I get about 20 VM's per day so you can see how this would bother me.. I hate getting a Text Message for every Voice Mail.
Please Help or I may end up switching back to my Blackberry which I don't want to do..
Thanks
G
Thats more of the telco problem, not the phones.
I never had this problem before when I was using my blackberry? Only since I switched phones to my unlocked Dash do I get the text message for voice mail.

It's something related to your carrier, not the phone. The phone isn't sending itself a text message. Maybe the Blackberry receives a SMS notification of voicemail that is handled differently, and your Dash is receiving it as a text message... Have you signed up for Blackberry service with your carrier? Have you updated your account to non-Blackberry service? Who's your carrier? Have you contacted them at all about this?
I am using Rogers in Canada. I have a blackberry account as I am using BB Connect since my company won't allow us to connect to the exchange server directly.
I have talked to Rogers and they said it have to be the phone. We I get a VM, i get the little VM message at the top of my home screen so that is working it is just the darn text message that bothers me..
just double check.. is it a text mesage that goes into your Inbox, or just a notification bubble?
Anyway, if it is a text, a quick and dirty way to solve is temp is to have a SMS blocker in place, to filter out these messages.
Hey cool so is that is piece of software SMS Blocker? if it works like email filtering that would work.. Where can I find a SMS Blocker or is a function of the phone?
Thanks great idea!!
The reason you get a text everytime you get a new voicemail is because your "unlocked" phone does not support the the MWI ( message waiting indicator) that your mobile provider uses. I have T-mobile and they use the reel to reel icon that pops up on the top of the screen when you get a new voicemail. If you have an unlocked phone it may not support the icon your providers phones use.
I've had numerous phones with this company(by choice). I am currently using an unlocked phone that was configured for another carrier's network, some of the features do not work the same, including the Message Waiting Indicator. The goods new is you can probably stop this by having your mobile company take the Message Waiting Indicator off all together. But the Bad news is, then of course you will not be notified when you get a new voicemail.
It's a feature of the Rogers network. I have it on my account too. Still debating whether I like it or not though. I think it's part of the "WhoCalled" feature they have, but I'm not sure. It's definitely part of your Rogers service plan though.
Temp Fix for Rogers network SMS after VM
Hi, I had the same problem. It was really getting to me. Now using phone guard 1.09
Works well.
After download, DONT fill in the country code, or area code screen, just leave blank.(or you will not recieve calls, they will be send to vm, ????not sure why)
On the block screen, fill in ( [email protected] ) {for rogers} in the tel sms #, Name it what ever you want.
No more text after vm.
Later
p.s. the program runs in the back ground. Uses the least mem though.

Tmobile Trigger Mail on WM6.1

Does anyone know how to make WM6.1 work with the Tmoblie Trigger mail? I installed 6.1 and tried to do the WM5/6 hack that works but had no luck. I had 6.1 on my phone for a few days and liked a lot of its features, but really like the Tmobile Trigger mail so went back to 6.

What is the trigger mail feature just wondering?
Trigger Mail Feature
TMobile has a hybrid push mail that was available under WM5. Basically what happens is you give TMobile.com you email address, POP & SMTP settins plus password. They then monitor you inbox. When an email is recieved thier server generates a text message that triggers you phone to check your email. The text message is invisible to the user and is automatically deleted. The advantage is that you do not have to set you phone to check email every 5min, 15 mins etc. You phone only checks when triggered to do so.
Here is probably a better discription;
http://www.modaco.com/content/htc-tornado-faraday-variants-tornado-modaco-com/239456/how-to-configure-us-t-mobile-push-mail-on-any-rom/#entry854119
Anyone have a solutuion for this? Anyone using this feature? Am I the only one that still does? I have 3 email addresses that TM triggers my phone for, most emails arrive in my phone within minutes of being sent.
Uses a txt message? I guess that wouldnt work for me. I dont need unlimited txts, but have unlimited data...so I just have wm 6.1 poll my inboxes every 5 minutes
Call T-Mobile and ask them?
Tmobile does not support WM6.1 on the Dash, and they don't support trigger mail on anything past WM5.
Anyone? You guys always amaze me with the way you can figure anything out, don't let me down now. Am I the only one who uses this? Is there something better out there?
Here I will look into this and get to you asap
I dont think T-Mo charges your account for the trigger mail sms.
If you don't have unlimited Text they will charge you. I am lucky and still have the Tmobile Mail and More plan that includeds unlimited data, text, sms, wifi and 1000 min for $69. I will hold on to that plan until they come up with 3G.
The trigger mail does work great though, don't know why they quit supporting it after WM5

How can we still get this?
You have to go to your account on Tmobile.com then goto Communications Tools. Once there you will see a section that labled "About E-Mail' Click on the learn more tab. Once here you will see a picture of your Dash, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and you will is a link that says 'Still want to continue using Windows Mobile 5' if you click here it will take you to a screen where you can set you can set up you email boxes. Basically you tell Tmobile your email addresses, passwords, and pop/smtp settings. Then turn on the alerts feature.
Now Tmobile will silently alert your phone when ever an email is received in any of your configured accounts. This SMS alert triggers your phone to sign on and retrieve then new messages.
If you are using WM6 you have to add several files from WM5 to make your phone work correctly. I have these files but wont post them here unless a moderator tells me it is ok. The files needed from WM5 are
MyEmSMP.exe
TMMEPluginEnabler.exe
InBoxDriverSrv.dll
TmMapirule.dll
TmUtil.dll
tmyemail.dll
For complete instructions on how to configure your phone goto
http://www.modaco.com/content/htc-tornado-faraday-variants-tornado-modaco-com/239456/how-to-configure-us-t-mobile-push-mail-on-any-rom/#entry854119
With this enabled your phone only checks email when triggered instead of every 5, 15 minutes depending on how your phone is currently set.
It works great, I would just like it to work with WM6.1 also, I am just smart enough to make it happen.

I still remember reading on the T-Mo site the Trigger SMS are free but it might be based on having a certain plan.
You have to read the fine print. They are free if you have a SMS plan. Each trigger = 1 text message. When they started doing this with the first Tmobile PocketPC phone the plans for that phone all came with unlimited text. I started with the original Tmobile PPC phone, then the HP6300 and had that when I went to my Dash. I still have the plan from my 6300, Tmobile would probably love me to give it up since I get everything for $69, Tzones, Data, Text, 1000min, Nights & Weekends....
I have been using this on every phone since it first came out on the T-Mobile HP IPAQ. I do not have unlimited test and it does not use text but triggers the phone to convert 701 codes to the actual email. Now you do have to have thier internet option at 19.95 a month. I too love it and have switched from 6.1 back to 6.0 because of this single application. Thats ow much I love it.. (one thing that is different is I am using a PPC)
Glad to hear that I am not the only one who loves Trigger Mail. I really want to move to 6.1, if someone could just get this to work it would be great.

Using MMS and Pushmail together?

I am using push mail (mail2web) and it works great, but
as our MMS and SMS service cost exactly the same I tend to
send/receive mostly MMS'.
Problem is that every time I want to send or receive an MMS, a
popup informs me that the current internet connection needs to be
closed before the MMS connection can be made. I then have to open this
message and choose 'yes' to continue. Now this is getting very annoying
if you receive a lot of messages a day and you have to 'Manually' confirm
each one. After sending/receiving the MMS connection is automatically closed
and my 'internet' connection is automatically started again.
So my question is are there a way to remove the popup message.
After sending/receiving the 'MMS' conn. is closed and the 'internet' conn. starts up just fine without any input from me,so I only want the phone to automatically kill the 'internet' conn. without the "Please press 'yes' or 'no'" message.
Thanx...

Thanx, but the problem is not that simple. Other then the fact that it does not
work that way (for MY serv.prov.), even if I could do it,
I DON'T WANT to, because:
Data received through 'mms.conn.' is FREE, <------------------------- (important)
Data received through 'internet.conn.' is NOT FREE.
I already pay my service provider for using the MMS service and as I get
a LOT of MMS msgs. (mostly photos) every day, I am just not willing to
waste my hard earned cash that way.( ie: Paying DOUBLE for the same service. )

Guys, guys, GUYZZZ...
I know that most of you are (just like me) NOT very good with the English language, but DAMMIT, how difficult can it be to understand a SIMPLE question like this???
I receive a HUGE amount of MMS's every day.
...... RECEIVING MMS on the 'MMS.CONN' is FREE.........
...... RECEIVING MMS on the 'INTERNET.CONN' is NOT FREE.........
I ONLY want to get rid of the pop-up that asks for confirmation to kill
the 'internet.conn' and noth..... Aaaaagh, JUST LEAVE IT...
PS:
Sorry to everyone, I am not in the best of moods today... This is a great forum and I am grateful for all replies...
Maybe try looking into mortscript, I think it can do those kinda things! Never used it myself though.

I am absolutely sure this confirmation pop-up can be killed with a simple
'Reg-hack', but I can't find it.

Here you go...
Only Before Sending/Receiving MMS = Pop-Up (Yes/No)
After MMS has been sent/received the 'mms.conn' disconnects AUTOMATICALLY,
then my 'internet.conn' again connects AUTOMATICALLY and my
push mail (mail2web) syncs. and everything works fine, until I get
the next MMS.
Im looking into it..
Maybe try turning off the "display message on screen" in sounds and notifications, for the two connection ones..
Ill keep hunting
Edit: Maybe you didn't quite understand what zocster and mrvanx where suggesting.. that is, set your push email to use the MMS connection as well..
Hmm... I understand the simple question, i think it's unavoidable since MMS access point and GPRS/Interneet access point is always different for all operator. And the PDA is set to warn you whenever it switch accesspoint, to avoid unconfirmed dropped connection.
For now 2 options i can see:
1. Suppress the notifications automatically to not bother you (mortscript can do this i think, never tried though)
2. Shorthen the "window of conflict" time period. Maybe by prolong your pushmail checking schedules, so it will not too real-time

Yes, you definitely understand the question.
Your option 1. is exactly what I am looking for, to suppress the
notification for switching of 'internet con.' access point automatically.
As I said before, the 'MMS con.' closes itself automatically after
sending/receiving, after that the 'internet con.' connects again
automatically.
Because the 'MMS con.' closes itself automatically, I was hoping
to find a reg.key to disable this confirmation for closing 'internet con.' only.
EDIT: Sorry, double post.
(Slow internet connection and a happy trigger-finger)
Hi DexterH,
have you found a solution? I have exactly the same problem. Since the connection to the internet APN is up, it asks me for the MMS connection. When I miss this notification, I miss the mms.
Please post your solution if you found one...

Most interesting problem I have ever encountered.

Hello, I wanted to share a very interesting problem with my Dash that I experienced and finally defined yesterday.
I have a Dash, on the T-mobile network, on which I installed the Ricky and Stylez Rom about 6 months ago. Since installing the Rom, I would randomly see the phone light up as if it were about to receive a text message, but then never receive one. I never really thought twice about this, though it had never happened with Kavana nor with the Tmobile software. A couple months ago, it came to my attention that I had missed text messages from two people in the same day. Occasional missed texts are normal in my experience, but I found it odd to miss two in the same day. I asked both people to resend the texts and still didn't get either. I then asked one to resend hers and sat there watching my phone. All of a sudden I saw it light up but never show a text. I asked her if she had just resent the text, and she had. All other texts were coming through normally. I then asked the other guy to resend his, and the same exact thing happened - it lit up, but never showed me a new text. I asked them to rewrite the texts in new messages and send those.. still didn't get those so I thought maybe it was something with content. I called both and had them tell me what they were trying to write. The only similarity was that both texts had the word f*ck in them. So I asked them to send me just the word by itself.. and I received those messages. I couldn't figure anything else out, so I ignored the problem for now.
Last couple days, I started getting interested again as I was also trying to deal with some memory issues. I started having people with different phones on different networks send me messages for variations of the word f*ck. In sentences, by itself, capitalized, not capitalized, at the beginning or end of messages, and so on. I even tried sending myself messages. The entire experimental period, the phone would always light up, but never show me the missed messages. I also called T-mobile tech support to see if they could help me, eventually being forwarded all the way to third level support, which is their engineers. All the experimentation along with the help from T-mobile finally narrowed the problem down to me not ever seeing any messages with the word "****" in them, in all lowercase letters. "****in", "****ing", and all combos with "****" lowercase in them would never appear in my inbox. This would happen even if I sent them to myself, though I could send them to others no problem. Any alternate spelling as well as capitalization let me receive the messages. This problem was repeated with ATT, Sprint, Tmobile, and Verizon senders. Tmobile did everything from turning my texting on and off, checking all possible filtering, and sending test messages with the code they have that lets them know if it was delivered or not. They were able to tell me that the messages I was not seing WERE being delivered. So the problem was with my phone. I checked every single menu and nowhere could I find any filtering.
At the same time, I was trying to deal with a memory leak, and stylez had suggested I do a hard reset for that issue, so I thought that maybe I could get at both problems. I did a hard reset yesterday, and both the memory leak and the "****" problem still existed just like before. I then tried reinstalling the Rom from scratch. The problems still existed (both, though this post is focused on the "****" problem).
Finally, last night, I installed the ricky version of Kavana... and I have to say both problems are gone. I now see all my texts, including those with the word "****" in them. I also no longer am having a memory leak. With the other Rom, I text so much that I was having to reboot once every few hours, or with really heavy texting, as often as every 15 minutes. Indeed, after reinstalling Rose last night, I actually had to reboot it within 15 minutes of doing an initial hard reset because of heavy texting.
Just wanted to share my VERY unique problem. Nobody at tech support had ever heard of anything like it and I've certainly never dealt with anything like this. I do have to say that the memory leak DID exist in my case, even after re-installations and resets, with Rose, and now it is gone using Kavana. Anyone can send me a whole message full of "****"s now too and I get them unlike before. I liked Rose more but I just couldn't accept not receiving those messages.
Anyone else have such a crazy problem? I didn't find anything through a search so I figure it is something unique to me.
Thanks for reading! Would love to hear your unique problems or whether anyone has experience this legitimate and real problem I was dealing with.
I'm glad I choose kavanas ROM to keep, or I'd be missing out on some late night texts! Although I do get the phantom text sometimes. Personally I think its just a bug in the OS.
wow, that is bizarre! I use Kavanas ROM so I can not test this myself. Any one else want to try this on their Rose based ROM?
EDIT: I forgot I have NRGz Rose ROM remade by Ricky and Stylez on my other phone and i can confirm that the word "****" can not be received via SMS. Wow, that is really really weird. Good thing I dont use that ROM or I wouldnt get half of my txts.
Very interesting... Good find magic, this may help all the people experiencing the "phantom txt/phone lighting up" issue. I wonder if there are any other words that wont go through.
I thought you had lost your mind... but sure enough, I do not recieve texts that have the work "****" all lowercase. I have tested from several different originators as well.
wierd.
Thanks for the confirmation guys! It's good to know I am not crazy nor did I do something myself to cause this. I reread my post and just wanna clarify that what this post is focused on is the filtering issue. Me and stylez have some disagreement on the memory leak (which I can say does exist on all versions on some level, I just have more problems with some than others) and I don't want that disagreement to eclipse this other problem. So I officially am laying off the memory leak now and would like to focus on the filtering since I was able to pinpoint it and we have confirmation.
I don't know if any other words can create the same filtering to occur.. this was (sadly lol) the only word frequent enough for me to realize it. It'd be nice to get some more confirmations... though it appears this is legitimate. What's the next step? Any ideas from the developers on what's going on?
Glad I could help track this down guys!
Confirmed...... that is really interesting. In addition, I realized that I have not received any MMS messages the past couple days, so I tested it here at the office with about every provider imaginable, and no MMS messages received. I have a co-worker with stock rom and he can receive the message fine that I was not able to receive.
I love the Rose Rom, but unfortunately I have to switch back to Kavana
Will test this tom when got time, find it interesting that the phone will filter, i'm damn sure my gf would have used that word more than once...
What is interesting is you all seem to be T-Mo that i can see your network.
Will post results.
Stylez, I may have found what is causing this behavior; it's just doing what it's supposed to do. In your SMS Pack (SMS Tools) >SMS Filter (SMS Firewall) it has [run] xxx and [run] **** preloaded. I deleted both and will try tomorrow, but I think that that's the problem. Seems like an easy fix, but won't know until I test it. (prematurely pats self on back)
Also, sending MMS has been fine and only took 15 seconds to send with delivery confirmation. Will test receiving tomorrow.
PS, diggin' the rose rom. The thing has run damn near flawlessly for me.

I haven't used MMS since the flash, but after seeing your post I thought that I would give it a try. I had no problems sending, but found out that I also was not receiving any MMS's. I went to T-Mobile's site just to double check the settings and found some discrepancies between the two. Although I had T-Mo MMS settings on the phone, the "Connects to" was set to T-Mo MMS (in the drop down) and not wap. I thought that it shouldn't make a difference, but it did. I made a couple of changes (ie changed to wap, added the ip address, etc.) and tried it again. Voila, I received a MMS in less than a minute. Thanks bupahs for the link.

Note: This is for the Dash (s620) with NRG's Rose ROM 1.7 remade by Ricky and Stylez and I have a full data plan on TMO US. Also, I may have left out a thing or two since I did this without noting the original settings, but if you follow the guide you will be fine. I had known about the other posts, but since all the other T-Mo settings worked fine, I had assumed that the MMS settings were good also.

I haven't used MMS since the flash, but after seeing your post I thought that I would give it a try. I had no problems sending, but found out that I also was not receiving any MMS's. I went to T-Mobile's site just to double check the settings and found some discrepancies between the two. Although I had T-Mo MMS settings on the phone, it was set to T-Mo MMS (in the drop down)and not wap. I thought that it shouldn't make a difference, but it did. I made a couple of changes (ie changed to wap, added the ip address, etc.) and tried it again. Viola, i received a MMS in less than a minute. Thanks bupahs for the link.

I also had to do this using Kavanas ROM. The "Connection Setup" wizard only does half the job. I suspect that this has nothing to do with Kavana or NRG, I think it is made by HTC and for what ever reason it does not setup the phone 100% correctly.
I didn't use the wizard, I just manually checked and changed the MMS settings already on the phone and worked fine for me. The other settings for text, internet, etc. already preloaded on the phone's rom were fine to begin with, MMS seemed to be the only problem.

Oh, well then of course you have to setup the phone. Any ROM that isnt an official T-Mo ROM will require the phone to be setup. There are step by step instructions on the T-Mo website that I followed and later tested and they are a-o-k
Not sure what you are saying, does it work for you now? Also, of course you have to set up your phone when you initially load the the rom, I am just stating that the preloaded T-Mo settings in the 1.7 rom are slightly off in regards to MMS. Hope this helps with others that were experiencing not receiving MMS's, but could still send.

SMS Notifications

What are folk using to read or reply to SMS messages on their units?
I did some searching on the old thread and TabletTalk looks exactly what I'm looking for but it unexpectedly crashes whenever I open it on my HU and I'm not sure if there are any logs I can check to see why? Anyone else having that issue?
I also seen that another option is Tasker with a few plugins but does that use 3G to sync the messages? Ideally I want something that does it all over Bluetooth. I'm not really fussed about WhatsApp messages or that, just SMS.
Cheers
I was using mightytext (needed to get apk from my tablet as hu is not supported in google play) and it used mobile data. Added bonus of being able to reply...however can't do so when driving, which negates it a bit
I'm in the middle of setting up tasker/autoremote/autovoice. The plan is for message to be received, sent to hu, seneder read out, yes/no option to read message, yes reads message, no ignores message (possibly third input for reminder in x minutes). Gives a bit more privacy when others are in the car
Autoremote works over any data connection; mobile, wifi, Bluetooth. It's easy enough to transfer messages (sender, body) using autoremote and getting it to appear as a notification on hu (instead of my more complex goal)
Also pushbullet works fine (but might be mobile data only)

Thanks mate
I seen mightytext as well actually, didn't like the fact that it was over data as well though and assuming your texts will be stored on a server.
Ahh I didn't realise Autoremote worked over Bluetooh, the tasker/autoremote/autovoice sounds like a great option thanks :good:

I think there is a fallback order to determine which protocol to use (haven't had time to use in a while). I like that it'll use Bluetooth when no data as when I have my wifi obd device connected, it takes over wifi and turns data off
I've been using mysms on my PC and phone for the last few years, an alternative to mightytext. Mysms has annoyed me though so I think I'll be checking out mightytext even though I have a paid sub to mysms. It sometimes leaves a message that the phone might have not had the reception to send in a limbo zone, where you can't resend it for 15-30 minutes until it officially fails. Plus it's freaked me out with display problems sometimes, showing me I sent messages to people not that I intended.
Thanks for all the replies
I had a quick look at tasker and automate but had some trouble getting the URL on the start page and it does seem like a bit of hassle to set up.
I've been happy with the stock rom but I might just flash Malaysk's rom and see if tablet talk works on that.
Sorry to bump an old thread, just thought I'd mention I now have texts from my phone displaying on my HU and I can reply from the HU.
I'm using Tasker, AutoRemote and AutoNotification. It took me a while to get my head around working them, if anyone wants me to export my tasks etc so they can text from their head unit let me know and I'll do so
From my searching before I posted I remembered a few people had asked about it so just thought i'd mention in case anyone wants it. I only have mine set up for SMS which talks to the HU through Bluetooth but I'd imagine its pretty much the same for WhatsApp etc.

Sure, would be interested in seeing how you've done it
Ditto. Avid Tasker user so would lurve to see your tasks ?
Sent from my BN NookHD+ using Tapatalk
I'm at work just now (working hard clearly ) so can only upload my phone profiles/tasks, I'll upload the HU ones later.
I had been testing on my tablet which is why the recipient may be different but I suppose if you wanted to use it you would need to change it anyway. Any questions or suggestions fire away, its been a while since Ive done any programming type of stuff so if there are more efficient ways of doing things I'd be glad to know
For folk with little experience with Tasker, AutoRemote and AutoNotification, here's how it works:
1) On the phone: If I receive a text and my bluetooth is on, set a variable to 1.
2) On the Phone: When the variable equals 1, start the AutoRemote Bluetooth service and send the SMS details to the HU then set the variable back to 0. (Messages are sent one at a time so it sends the recipient's name, then number, time received and text body separate)
3) On the HU: When one message is received, add 1 to a variable to count each message received.
4) On the HU: When all messages are received (the counter equals 4) use the AutoNotification to show a new notification that you have received a text.
6) On the HU: On the notification there is a reply button and a discard button. Discard button runs a task to just close the notification and reset all variables. Reply button runs a task that closes the notification and then opens a tasker scene (a sort of window)
7) On the HU: The scene shows the name and number the SMS is from and a text box to type a reply. Buttons on the scene are an exit button, send button, car button and call button. Exit obviously closes the scene and then clears all variables. Send button will send the details back to my phone, close the scene and clear the variables. The car button I have set to send a template message "I'm driving just now sorry, I'll call you later" then it clears variables and closes scene. I want the call button to call the contact through the built-in bluetooth app on the HU, although I'm still working on this to see if its possible. This is one of the main reasons I went to the hassle of doing this myself rather than use an app since most apps deal with calls too and use your phone mic which I didn't like since my phone will most likely be in my pocket and I have my mic all wired up in my car.
8) On the Phone: The phone waits for the number and text message to be received. I used separate tasks and a counter like before to make sure both parts are received.
9) On the Phone: When the counter equals 2 (both the number and message have been received) then it sends the SMS from the phone, clears all variables and stops the AutoRemote Bluetooth service since I dont want this running all the time.
Hopefully it makes sense but like I said, happy to help other people get it set up I'll get the HU XML's uploaded tonight when I'm home and get some screenshots as well. Its still at very early stages so I may make some tweaks, I've actually yet to test it in my HU but its all working on my tablet so I dont see an issue. I'll get a better feel for how functional it is as well once Ive imported it into my car but I suppose its down to personal preference and people can add or change what they want.
Cheers guys
Here are the HU exported XMLs and a few screenshots taken from my tablet from texts I was sending to myself.
Its at early stages so go easy on me
Nice approach. In autoremote you can send multiple parameters by using =:= between them like " SMSSendTo=:=number=:=body=:=time"
And then access them by %arcomm1 %arcomm2...
That way you can do it a bit more efficient.
I have edited your profiles and tasks. I will upload them later today so you can se how it can be done.
I used Tablet Talk years ago so I had paid for it already. Unfortunately, I was unable to get the HU to connect with my phone with bluetooth or wifi. I just purchased Tasker for the first time and the amount of options is incredible not to mention the plugins. I just don't have the time to learn the ins and outs of it all at this time. I look forward to seeing how this develops. Thanks for sharing your work!
Thanks guys
Yeh I had trouble getting tablet talk working on mine too which is why I decided to do something myself. Glad I did though sice tasker is such a great app, now using it for some other stuff too
By the way, I got a few notifications for messages on my tablet so someone must have used the project and forgot to change the receiptient device. That might be why it's not working you can change it by opening the scenes then editing the buttons that send messages. In the "tap" tab I think it is, click on the tasks that send the messages and make sure you select your device from there. You will have to have added it already though in AutoRemote by clicking on the devices tab, then add and use the URL from the device you are adding. Any other questions fire away, I'm still quite new to tasker though but I'll try my best.
Here are the example on how you can do it a bit more efficiant.
Dont forget to change the receiptient device in the "Send_Tther_Device" task on phone and in "SMS_Reply" scene on hu.
I've been trying out the tasker files you listed nanab. It definitely works but only once in a while. Autoremote seems extremely delayed or never sends the message. I tried forcing the connection between wifi/bt but it seems to not make a difference. Long texts from the HU back to the phone seem to anger it as well. Messages and notification reach the HU well but from HU to phone has issues. I will usually be able to send one and then it stops working. Any suggestions or tweaks I can make?
This has been helping me learn some tasker stuff so thanks again.

can you make a tutorial step by step thank you
At the first try it works for me but after restarting the engine i don't get any message to the car unit anymore
My Phone tolds me that the message was successfully send to the Car Unit but it doesn't get them.
After a lot of reconnecting in Autoremote it works again but only until the car unit was restarted.
Has anybody found out another solution?
