Greetings Gurus,
I've searched, so if I've missed the solution to this then please be gentle! I have my Artemis (MDA Compact 3 with CoPilot) all working with my apps, and ported across today onto T-Mobile.
My problem is that the internal Storage Memory is being eaten up quite quickly, although all my apps are installed on to the 2 gb card.
Is there a way to store my yahoo email and/or sms text messages directly onto my card, not internal memory?
Can anyone advise of anything else that I could do to preserve some internal storage memory please?
TIA
Hi all,
Having same problem... Any answers here??
Thanx in advance.
Hi all,
Managed to get the emails to save to Storage Card
The Key in WM6 is:
HKLM\System\Inbox\Settings
add "PropertyPath" value="\Storage Card\Mail" datatype="string"
Due to Email application starting before initializing the storage card, there will be a new folder created "Storage Card", and the actual storage card will be "Storage Card2"
To get around this issue, remove the "Messages" from Today screen.
You can add it back after reboot.
Crack Onnn....
Does this also work for SMS messages?

Sorry if this answer is out there but I couldn't find it. Not even after reading all 13 pages of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...storder=asc&highlight=storage+card2&start=300
All my apps on my 2G SD card "used" to be referenced via "Storage Card" but now, after I got my hands on Buzz's (Its all your fault! LOL) ROM Unlocker, "Storage Card" is now Storage Card2" and the ROM shows up as "Storage Card", as well as, ExtendedROM. - although the contents are different. <huh! :?: >
Is there a way to rename these? I have tried Buzz's reg entry of:
HKLM_System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC1\NAME="whatever" but that did not work for me.

Click to collapse
If you change
HKLM_System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC1\Folder="ExtROM" and turn off your device, wait 5 minutes and soft reset it will work.
Note that is Folder and not Name.
Dah
Thanks for pointing out the "NAME" vs "Folder" part.
I still had the problem of Storage Card and Storage Card2 after following your instructions.
I turned off Outlooks storing of attachments to the Storage Card and this worked. I now only have the single Storage Card, but attachments now become the problem.
One thing I don't understand is that the ExtROM (with the cabs inside) appears as a seperate storage volume than did the Storage Card (9M of free space) when Storage Card2 (My 2G SD card) was present.
OK I understand what your problem is. Lets see if I can explain it in a way that makes sense to you. Your problem is windows is attempting to access a storage card that is not yet mounted. Or a storage card that does not exist, yet. When this happens you generally wind up with a folder by that name somewhere on your system.
Outlook in this case starts before the card is mounted, and tries to access your card before it is ready. I suppose that one could try putting some really big values in HKLM\System\StorageManager\
PNPUnloadDelay
and/or
PNPWaitIODelay
Or perhaps buy a better quality SD card that does not take so long to become active. I'm not so sure their is a real fix to this problem. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you.
ARG! I hate (device/OS) limitations.
Thanks
I got that last night, and simply deleted the storage "1" folder, and reset the device. I think.
Hello. I've had the MDA Pro for quite a while now. I've unlocked it, I've upgraded the ROM and I've unlocked the ExtendedROM. My problem now is that everytime I unlock the ROM and install my apps on the Storage Card, after some time my Storage Card is renamed from "Storage Card" to "Storage Card2" and all my apps that were installed there don't work obviously as the shortcuts for the programs point to the Storage Card and not the Storage Card2. Also my message attachment folder which was on the Storage Card gets moved to either the ExtendedROM or a new folder "Storage Card\inbox....". Why is this happening? I unlocked the ExtendedROM so that only the cabs that I want are installed. If I rename the Storage Card to SD Card or anything else in the registry, my inbox attachment folder also goes into one of the two locations mentioned. The ROM unlocker was one that I this website called "130SP_Uni_Extrom_Unhider_Spec ial" which for some reason I can't find the post. What am I not doing or doing wrong?? Currently I've hidden the ExtendedROM from the registry key "Mount Hidden". Any help is appreciated. Is anyone else having this problem?
Do a search for Buzz Extended ROM Unlocker and you will find a solution in one of the thread. I remember reading it a while back. I think it is under the Universal threads. It might also be a sticky in there.
New unit =) Very please with it, but having some memory issues.
After syncing all my contacts/calenders/notes back onto the device, I find myself out of physical memory.
Is there a registry tweak which would use memory card as default storage ? Like the camera tweak for the Prophets ?
Please advise.
no suggestions or solutions ?
Using the card for volatile stuff like calendar is asking for trouble with the corruption problems on SD cards with this model. Have you run a Sprite Backup since updating your calendar/contacts?
The problem is that there is not enough available free space for correct work of win. mobile OS. Each time I reboot my phone, the greetings message appears, it also appears when I browsing in menu, trying to change settings. What should I do if there is no additional processes in progress besides Calendar, Messages or Contacts? I have only 700 kb free and remaining 41,3 mb are used. I thought that adding 2 gb flash micro sd card would solve my problem, but it still exists.
Thank you all.
I'll wait for your advices and suggestions.
Try to uninstall some programs (like today plugins and etc)
they use your memmory.
Adding a 2GB memory card isn't like just adding more memory to your PC - the phone treats the memory card as separate memory, not just an extension of the existing. You need to actually move files from the device to the card, remove programs and re-install them to the card instead of the device, set Pocket Outlook to save attachments to the memory card etc
But there is nothing to be uninstalled, cause there are only few programs, that were already in my phone when I bught it.
Should I clear a date storage? Then what will happen with my contact list and messages?
"Clear storage" will delete everything on your phone, including settings etc. It's similar to doing a hard reset.
If you've not got programs installed on your device, how much e-mail/contacts have you got stored on it?
where would i find today plugins etc to remove and then put on memory card,
and would i be better doin same with other folders like video, music etc , im new to the orbit so any advice is helpul thanks
Yes, always store stuff (docs, media etc) on the storage card; only use the phone memory when you REALY have to.
For your own stuff, use the built-in File Explorer and cut and paste all your files from "Documents" (or wherever you've saved them on the device) to the storage card.
As for programs/plug-ins, rather than just move them it's probably better to delete them and then re-install them, selecting "memory card" when it asks where you want to install them.
thanks for yr reply atleast i now know i can put most things on storage card. the onboard memory isnt that big and thats what confused me im use to havin a normal phone the orbit is all new to me thanks again for your help
I have been trying to get this to work on the new Mighty Rom and whenever i reboot it renames my storage card to "storage card2" and makes a name on the main memory called "storage card" and my mail syncs to the main memory. Is there any fix for this?
I have already tried removing the card renaming the storage card on the main memory and reinserting the card. This works but once I reboot my device it will rename the card again. I made the registry changes and added the AttachPath and PropertyPath. Is this something wrong with Mighty Roms new rom or WM 6.5. It worked fine on my TP1. I have already re-flashed and clear storage and reset up after I change the provisioning cab to Verizon. It worked on Mighty Roms first rom on TP2 so I am thinking it is something with Mighty Roms new rom.
Any help would be appreciated. I think I have searched everywhere and can not find a fix. Hopefully I have created this in the correct thread.
sorry to bother people but has anyone seen this before or does the same thing? Does anyone have any input on this issue at all?
Can anyone assist me in this. Is this in the wrong thread?
Did you try starting with Hard reset without the storage card inside ?
