I use a HTC-S710 smartphone and want to change the Wifi MAC address.
Does someone know if this is possible by changing ROM or registry values.
http://www.google.dk/search?hl=da&q=change+mac+address+pocketpc&btnG=Søg&meta=lr=lang_da|lang_en
I've added a string value NetworkAddress with the spoofed MAC (e.g "112233445566" or "11-22-33-44-55-66") to HKLM\Comm\TNETW12511\Parms
The function NdisReadNetworkAddress in ndis.dll reads the new MAC if the driver allows sw configuration of MAC (don't know where that is controlled).
See: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa910317.aspx
Unfortunately it doesn't work. Would be great if someone can provide more clues.
Although the ndis.dll in my Vox WM6 contains NdisReadNetworkAddress() it seems not to be used or perhaps overruled.
PS: Rudegar I know google
yeah another person with wm6 reported that it dident work too
:S

Hi,
I hope I'll have some time during the holidays to update ER2003Edit. Planned features/changes are:
 Support for Blue Angel and Magician (different header, different ROM image location
 Do not depend on ROM type selection in Open dialog
 Auto-Generate the config file for the extended ROM
 Automatically detect the type of the connected device and set the appropriate header options in order to prevent the country ID error
 Asscociate .nbf files with ER2003Edit in order to open them in ER2003Edit directly from Explorer
 Fix the "ActiveX component can't create object" error under WindowsXP
Please post if you have more suggestions. The focus here lies on helpful features that are _easy_ to implement (i.e. in a short amount of time).
I need some help with the following issues, can anybody help?
:?: Accessing the OS ROM. What kind of file system is this, any way to access it
:?: Automatic Password detection: Does anyone have some code to accomplish this, would save me some time..
Best,
This would be great.
does this include changing the "new country id" as stated in step 9 of DCS's post ?

Run the hex editor and in that open the file ms_.nba. At offset 74 (0x4A) you will see the operator string your device will be set to and at offset 94 (0x5E) you will see the language string your device will be set to

I think this "new country id" is a nice discovery by dcs, but there are only rare cases when you really need it. (like the incorrectly authored ROM, dcs had to deal with)
Normally when you want to update your device to a "foreign" ROM, you use ER2003Edit or xda2nbftool to change the headers. Once installed your device's id will be (in nearly all cases) set to the id of the ROM you install. Thus you will be able to do subsequent upgrades of the same brand and language.
Changing the "new country id" would only make sense if you already know during installation what your next update will be and you know that you are unable or unwiling to use ER2003Edit then (and only when changing brand and country).
Technically it wouldn't be hard to implement but could bring trouble if the location/offset would change. Though I think very few people will really need it, I will consider this for inclusion into ER2003Edit.
...any other suggestions...?
Those features will still be there ?
-Extract and modify the splash bitmaps
-Completely modify the contents (=extract, delete, import, rename) via Drag'n'Drop
Would it be also possible to make rom backup ? and Restore ?
Anyway thank you for trying to make your soft BlueAngel friendly ! I was waiting for this since I get my 9090 !!!
Best regards and Merry XMas !

Hope everything is going well with the alterations to the ER2003Edit.......
How is it coming along - anything we can help with over in the BlueAngel Forums?
I'm looking for the registry entries for the microsoft bluetooth stack on a ppc2003se device and maybe the bt dlls in the windows directory. I downloaded a imate jam rom, but I can't figure out how to extract the information I need from it If someone could provide me with a copy of their registry entries (i think all the important ones are stored at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\), I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time!
Jason
P.S. In case you are wondering, I'm trying to restore full bluetooth functionality to my crippled samsung i730 verizon phone (mostly I want the DUN profile). It uses the ms stack and the main (only?) problem appears to be that some of the registry entries have been removed. If I can compare my registry entries to working entries, I'm hoping I can find the solution!
you can extract all files from ROM with dumprom tool, then convert default.fdf to defailt.reg with fdf2reg.pl script.
The BT DLLs from jam's rom would be useless for you - they are XIP.
Thanks for the info on the dlls, i didnt know what arcitecture the jam used. As for the dumprom tool, I tried it multiples times in different configurations to no success (nk.nbf, nk.nba, different passwords). The rom I grabbed was 1.12 from the "How to upgrade with the latest I-mate Jam ROM --GUIDE--" thread. any suggestions for one that will work?
Guys,
maybe here someone will help me.
I have company software for my HTC3600 that checks for device name.
The one that is shown as TRIN100 for Trinity for my WM6 ROM.
Maybe you are familiar with the soft that can accept request for this info and give to a program fake name like ABCXYZ?
In other words can you advise something that will allow the attempt to run software designed PARTICULARY for another WM platform?
Thanks for any advise!
First check what have you got in Start->Settings->System->About. There is Device ID Tab.
sorry for misleading
I meant
Start - Settings - Device Information - Identity - Model No.

I think only try to find "TRIN100" in nbh file with hex editor and change it in some else and then flash on a device, I only in nbh file found the string... no in registry, and in provxml files!!

yes
that is the straight way
two possible objections
1. if name TRIN100 is used for some low level functional device will not be useful at all )
2. reflashing of this may give nothing only because TRIN100 is hardware name (i am still guessing)
so, the last option is clear for hacked nbh file
but maybe someone has seen software that catches request for this info and substitutes it with any string for calling software?

appreciate if someone can help me to solve this probelm....
btw: where do i get a black "comm manager" for trinity without flashing any rom/where to get the cab file?....thanks..my device is still under waranty...so i dont want to flash it as yet.

it seems that the language support software is disturbing the activesync on my trinity.....is this possible? can somebody tell me what is wrong with my phone?
I do have ce-star installed on my trinity...
Something is wrong with teh certificate:
INTERNET_38 80072F06 The SSL certificate common name (host name field) is incorrect.
- OR -
Synchronization failed due to an incorrect SSL certificate common name. Verify certificate settings.
Solution:
1. The name of the Exchange server specified on the device does not match the common name on the certificate.
On your device, click Start, ActiveSync, Tools, Options, Server, and make sure that the correct server name is entered.

Thanks, liewjoee. You solved my problem too.
Now I'm able to get the direct push e-mails over SSL.
Confirmed that Leies's Chinese Extension works on my E-TEN X800. Check this place out: http://blog.g4team.com/?p=64
