assign new text message screen to hard button - possible w/o SPB Pocket Plus??
I have SBS pocket plus and in my case is a memory hog... but i admit it has a nice feature where you can assign a shortcut to the new text message screen to any hard button... is there any program that can give me that feature (specifically) or any of you gentleman or ladies know how I can "activate" that shorcut from within windows, registry, etc?
New menu for wm5 will allow you to do that - assign to left or right softkeys see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40088
Or with Vjsms you can assign this program to hardware button through settings\buttons see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=26972
With WM5, the softkeys were
Left softkey: New (text message)
Right softkey: Menu
after upgrading my Cingular 8525 to WM6 it is not that useful:
Left softkey: Delete
Right softkey: Menu
In effect, to create a new message I need to select Menu and then New.
Is it possible to assign New to the left softkey?

Nope, not if your talking about in the messages screen. You can, however, set a soft key on the today screen to New SMS.
this has been a problem since the leak of WM6, search around, can't remember if theres a solution or not because it doesn't bother me that much, most of the time i'm replying to texts.
Take a look here, and here.

Thanks for a quick answer. I have no idea why Microsoft decided that the typical action when going to Text Messages would be to delete a message and not write a new message. You may store hundreds of messages without noticing a dent in the available memory.
How to create a shortcut from the Today screen to New SMS or reassining one of the softkeys to this function?

Use softkey changer (attached). If it gives you the error "missing file tnsms" then drop the attached corresponding file in ur /windows folder.
Kiitos Karhu and thanks mcorrie1121. I will test your solutions.
The SoftKey.cab from the link in Karhu's post is the only thing needed. One item on the list of commands to assign to a softkey on the Today screen is "New SMS". Works perfectly.
If you do not mind one more tap you can also use WM5 New Menu - provides more options than just new SMS.
Hi all..
Wondering, is there any way to program the touch flow buttons (slider) for Mail and the one for Messages to go to the old style, original, windows accounts page and the threaded text messaging page as apposed to the touch flow? Would it be a simple registry key?
How about the menus inside programs on the bottom right and left.. Any way to go back to the original windows menus as apposed to the large touch flow ones?
i have the same problem - nobody knows - to solve ...
Why is it that most, if not all, custom taskbar icons seem to mess up the bottom-bar button icons for things such as the send button for email and SMS, the back arrow button when in the start menu, etc?
Is there any way to avoid this, or to restore the icons on the bottom buttons? I'd really like to use, for instance, Brian's WM6.5 taskbar icons, but it bugs me to no end that the "send" button for SMS and email becomes blank, the "delete" botton when in the email inbox just shows an "X" (rather than the trash can), and others...
Anyone? Or, anyone know a cool taskbar icon set for the Rhodium WM6.5 that DOESN'T mess up the other buttons?
THanks,
Jeff
Hello all. First time poster, long time reader. I've got myself a Touch Pro 2 on VZW running the feb. 10th version of mighty rom. I have just one tiny problem with this rom, and also with the standard rom. When I double tap a text message from Manila, it opens said message in Manila's text messaging program. What I want to know is does anyone know of a way to tweak the registry or manila itself to allow for the double tap of a text message to bring me into windows mobile's text messaging sms program?
I apologize mods if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it to the right one. I also searched for about a half an hour and could not find a resolution to my problem.
Thank you all in advance.
Brian
