Hi all,
I currently have T-Mobile (US) as my provider, and have just switched to Cingular this weekend. I have the T-Mobile MDA and want to know if it is possible to use my phone on Cingular's network. What do I need to do to unlock the phone and sim successfully to work on Cingular's network? Do I need to put Cingulars ROM on my phone to make it work? I've already tried loading their ROM on the phone, putting in their sim card but it doesn't work, I get an error telling me that the network isn't unlocked and asks me to put in the correct code to unlock the network.
Any thoughts/ideas/help?

Search the forums for "Unlock Wizard". You should come up with many hits, mostly around a program called lockowiz. It will SIM and CID unlock your phone.

Me newbie, HELLLLP please.
Got xda1, need unlock to use T-mobile sim, used xdaunlock but still locked.
Flashed ROM, now got xda-developers ROM (COOL!) but still being asked
for GID code when I put T-mobile sim in, and now, even worse, I get the same request for GID code, with an O2 sim card in.
Should I re-install the xda-developers ROM, but this time with my T-mobile
sim card in? Or is there something else I should do?
I'm beginning to wish I'd just bought an O2 pay as you go sim in the first place.
Might I need to change the GSM band from 900/1800 to ?
ROM version ......... 3.17.03 ENG
ROM date.............. 15/05/03
Radio version ....... 4.20.00

Hi,
I'm new here and I like this site. I was reading some of the posts. My question to you all is does anyone know how to UNLOCK my HIPTOP. My provider waa FIDO, but I am no longer with them. I am stuck with the phone and I am with another provider (ROGERS WIRELESS) and they have a SIM card on the GSM network.
I tried putting my ROGERS SIM card into my phone and the message said "Please enter special SIM code)
I would really like to use my old HIPTOP if possible.
If you can help me out please I would appreciate. Let me know if I have to call the OLD provider or can I do it myself?

I called Tmo (USA) and told them that I was travelling to Canada and wanted my SIM unlock code for my Dash. I gave them my IMEI and they emailed me a 8 digit code to unlock the phone. Only problem is that I need the "foreign" SIM to initiate the code entry on the phone according to their instructions (see below). I am wondering if there is another way to do this without the "foreign" SIM because I want to unlock it prior to travelling in fear that I dont want to break/brick my Dash while travelling.
Here is their email to me:
T-Mobile Sim Unlock Request
Sim Unlock Reference: XXXXXXX
IMEI: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Unlock Code: XXXXXXXX
Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. Below you will see the Instructions for unlocking your HTC device.
1. Insert the foreign SIM card
2. Power on the device and the display should read "Please input unlock code"
3. Enter the unlock code and the device should display "Phone is unlocked."
4. Allow the phone to scan the network (or manually click on the antenna icon to do this)
It is very important that the instructions and SIM unlock code are entered correctly as listed. If you receive an error message while performing the instructions do not make any further attempts to unlock the handset. Please be aware that if an excessive amount of incorrect attempts are made, the phone will be permanently locked. You will need to verify the IMEI by pressing *#06# and contact Customer Care for support.
I saw this file (DASHv2Unlock.zip) from here. Anyone know if the code I got from Tmo will work with the DASH2Unlock program?

well im in states and i called tmo and told them i was going to london just to get a unlock code and all i did was put my moms cingular sim in and boom unlocked just like that foreign card just means a diffrent sim like one of cingulars ask a friend for theres if they have cingular

Thanks, I try to go to a local Cingular retail store. MOst of my friends use Nextel or Sprint or Tmobile around here. Cingular has terrible coverage in Hawaii.

You shouldn't need a "foreign sim," but rather any sim that's not on your carrier, then the phone should give you the unlock code prompt. I always keep an old cingular sim around for this purpose.
^ Any SIM other than your carrier's SIM is a foreign one.

Actually, to unlock the phones you do not even need a foreign sim. You can use your T-Mobile SIM. They just tell you that so you can make sure it's working

Yep, fairly easy. As soon a TMo emailed me my unlock code, I borrowed a coworker's cingular sim card and took all of 30 seconds total.

How would you enter a code otherwise?When the Cingular sim was in it, it automatically prompted me for the unlock code.

When you have TMo unlock the phone for you is the SIM unlocked and the CID unlocked also? Or do I have to use the website everyone has mentioned to get both things unlocked?

foriegn sim doesnt prompt to enter unlock code
Hello,
I just got my unlock code from TMO today. I put in a ATT sim but it does not prompt me to enter the code just says "Searching..." but never finds the signal.
Any help is appreciated.

hey guys.. i bought valid unlck code for my imei for my device..but directions i got to do the unlock were very vague...i inserted a working non accepted at and t sim...but cant get prompt to enter unlock code...ive tried everything...can anybody help me?/// ive got sgs2 t989...anybody have tips to get it to say "enter sim unlock code?"...im dying to unlock...im currently running on tmobile MONTHLY 4g...id love to switch if i ever need to to AT+T or simply mobile....but cant seem to get it to promptfor the code...is there anyway to do it without using somebody elses non working activated sim?...im ertain my unlock code is good...just cant get to where i enter it...one time i think i did...it just says no mobile network...any help is GREATLY appreciated..thanks!!!

I have a European I9100 and a t-mob T989 (both gs2) and swapped the at&t and t-mob Sims they both phones worked. However the network features were non existent.
I'm trying to unlock my phone, I bought used on ebay, I found found a thread here that shows you how to unlock, but can't even do the first step. when I install a different sim card, I don't get the message Unlock, the phone reads the sim as a non support sim.
the sim I'm putting in the phone doesnt have service on it, Is this the reason the unlock message doesn't come up?

I put a metro pcs sim that has service on it, but when I try to make a call, it say, not register to network, and or mobile network disconnected? Aso also tried to put the apn setting, but when I try to save the apn setting, they disappear??
Anyone have any idea?

but of course you have to do it from uvkl1. but--you can do a nandroid, and after you unlock it, restore your backup! it will stay unlocked

Seems your phone's ROM/Radio mismatched or not for MetroPCS. This exactly happened to my phone also, until I flashed a new radio for my rom(I am using TMobile, flashed new TMobile ROM but not new Radio. Then it had the problems as you have now).

The sim card I was putting in the phone was already register to a different phone.. I had to put a new sim, not active yet, then register the new sim to my imei and it worked fine.. I bought the phone used from ebay and it was already unlocked..
